Top Story

  • The Southerly Kerfuffle continues: After the weekend protest in Melbourne, the Victorian state government - which recently lost in a pub quiz to a plate of sandwiches - decided to shut down all construction sites and throw the workers out of, well, work.

Instantly creating an army with nothing better to do than protest. Every. Single. Day.

Long, long thread. News outlets, politicians, their own union leaders, and other assorted communists first tried to play down the size of the protest, and then, after the center of Melbourne had been shut down for several hours, decided that they were all Nazis, probably come from overseas just to stir up trouble.

Yes, they booked their flights two weeks ahead and sat around in quarantine all that time because they knew on the 4th that the Victorian state government was going to shut down building sites on the 18th.

Our politicians up here in Sydney can certainly be heavy-handed and I would like nothing better than to never see any of them disgrace my TV screen ever again, but they can't come close to the self-destructive idiocy of the mob running Melbourne.

Case in point: Construction sites will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity in Sydney again, even though we've had more Bat Flu cases recently and fewer protests.

  • Senate Democrats are calling for the FTC to pass privacy regulations because they are incapable of writing coherent legislation. (The Verge)

I'm not sure the federal government needs to get involved here, since California already has, and everyone is already failing to live up to those rules.

I'm not surprised that they can sing well; that's a major factor that comes up in their auditions. (Though some of them can't hit a note with a baseball bat.) The surprise comes with the difference between their speaking voices and their vocal range when singing.

Pina Pengin is with Prism Project, a smaller agency that only launched this year. Genuinely fun and talented and underappreciated.

Towa from Hololive Gen 4 (the same generation as Coco) already has a deep speaking voice for a five-foot-nothing Japanese girl, but her vocals are something else.

7 A question that may not be too tech- bought a new phone case and replaced my screen protector on my phone. (Older samsung galaxy -S7). Screen protector is great. But when I put the case on (it's only on the back of phone) my screen won't respond to my touch unless I pound on it. As soon as I take the case off it works fine. Recalibrated my touch-sensitivity and no change.

Do not understand how the protective case on the back of phone can affect my screen.

32 Leftists are like fish, and water. They've been exposed to so much BS propaganda, so pervasive and so insidious their assumptions are so far off the beam, it's as if we are talking a different language. Because we are.

And it is their assumptions that are so corrosive. These are always bad, anyone can be guilty of these and need to guard against them. Leftists don't give it a second thought when applied to those they've been trained to hate.

37 Immunizations are absolutely mandatory for military personnel. And for good reason.

The difference is these are FDA Approved vaccines with a long track record. The Covid-19 was different, it was not an approved vaccine until recently. And many people are skeptical of both the safety, and efficacy.

79 Rhen, that's kind of what I'm getting at.

There is this assumption on their part, that the only "approved" knowledge or news must come from CNN or whatever. One of my bosses gave me a line of crap years ago because my main page was set to a website called Nando.net or something like that. Never mind they just aggregated UPI or AP news stories. It was the same stories as everybody else gets. I didn't get it then, I don't get it now.

One thing they did screw up over the years is making everything emotional. News reporting is long dead and buried, hijacked by a bunch of whack jobs who "want to make a difference". Oh, they've made a difference allright. Right down the tubes.

But if you express a contrary opinion, it just doesn't compute with leftists. They "want to know where you get your news"; because obviously nobody can be trusted to come up with an idea or position on their own, apparently.

They have in too many cases literally lost the ability to think. They can only do what they are told, repeat talking points. No breadth or depth of actual knowledge. This is why they have to censor everybody. Because idiots do not fare well in the realm of facts.

84 73 Posobiec retweeted somebodies chart of working age Japanese population, showing it is (well, was in 2015) equal to about 1980, and headed south. This, with lots more females in the working population (now, versus 1980) presumably.

I had no idea Japan was getting so old.

the chart compared Japan to projections of Chinese working age population, showing China peaking in 2015 and heading even more dramatically older. The unspoken flipside of that is working ages as a percentage of total population, and the resulting economic burden. Of course, in China, they'll probably just start executing the aged.

121 Japan is racist. Why beat around the bush? I want to go there some day, there are interesting parts of their culture I would like to experience. But the country has Japanese and everyone else. No one in the West mentions it because it doesn't forward a political agenda. It would be like talking about racism in Latin America. No one in the West/USA cares because what are they going to do with that?

The left and our modern culture only has the slightest interest in history. If it can't help them win elections or change their nation, they don't give a damn. None of them studies history simply to learn about the world.
