Cindy-Anna Jones: Super-Woke Actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge Rumored to be the Real Lead of the Next (Fake) Indiana Jones Movie

This has long been suspected: Super-woke actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, last seen playing an SJW Droid in the Han Solo bomb, may take over as the lead in the so-called "Indiana Jones" movie.

This would be partly because Harrison Ford injured himself very shortly into filming (as one can expect of an 80 year old doing action scenes) and partly because this is what Kathleen Kennedy does to every IP she hijacks. Just make the male character a girl.

What amazing creativity.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge may flip the script on Indiana Jones.

The English actress, 37, could be replacing Harrison Ford as the lead in the fifth installment of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, which is set to hit theaters next summer, according to The Daily Mail.

Sources told the outlet that producer Kathleen Kennedy was looking to make "big" changes -- which could include replacing the lead character with a woman.

...

It’s not clear who Waller-Bridge's will portray in the upcoming movie, but a source told the Mail, "The gossip on the set is that this character will slot into the leading role."

In other words: Yet another white, British brunette Kathleen Kennedy sticks into a historically male-led action franchise as a Mary Sue self-insert.

In more Hollywood news:

Shang-Chi will probably not get a China release, because star Simu Liu has previously called China a shithole country.

The prospects for Disney/Marvel's Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings getting a China release date are dwindling. This in the wake of comments originally made by star Simu Liu in 2017 which resurfaced this week and have made waves on Chinese social media. In a 2017 interview with the CBC, the Chinese-Canadian actor referenced his parents telling him of conditions under Communist rule and referring to China as a "third world" country where people were "dying of starvation."

China is already unlikely to exhibit Marvel's "The Eternals" movie due to the director's comments about China being "a place where there are lies everywhere."

Disney's efforts to please and promote the CCP are failing.

Singer Alanis Morissette says she was the victim of sexual assault as a child.

Alanis Morissette said she was raped by multiple men when she was a 15-year-old Canadian pop star in a new documentary for HBO, reports the Washington Post.

"It took me years in therapy to even admit there had been any kind of victimization on my part," the singer says in the documentary. "I would always say I was consenting, and then I'd be reminded like 'Hey, you were 15, you're not consenting at 15.'"The legal age of consent in Canada is 16.

"Now I'm like, 'Oh yeah, they're all pedophiles. It's all statutory rape,'" she said.

...

The alleged rapes would have occurred before Morissette became a certified rock star. Before that, she appeared in five episodes of the Canadian teenage sketch comedy show You Can't Do That On Television, which ran in reruns on Nickelodeon after its Ottawa TV run, and can still be seen on streamer Paramount+.

Nickelodeon. Again.

I just got a text from Gavin Newsom asking me if I knew Alanis Morissette's email address.

11 The idea of a pop starlet from TV being molested by men is hardly difficult to believe. She's certainly a mess.

[]Shang-Chi will probably not get a China release, because star Simu Liu has previously called China a shithole country.

And, they hate, HATE, HATE Fu Manchu as a character and in the comics he's Shang Chi's dad. The headfake of making him the Mandarin didn't fool the Chicoms.

26 So wait a moment, here. You mean to tell me that I can watch another Indiana Jones movie? Another one that, like the fourth installment, nobody asked for? And this time it doesn't star the titular character, and it also doesn't star Shia Lebouff (or however you spell his stupid name), who they set up as his successor? And this time it instead stars some bitter and shrewish SJW who isn't even all that hot? And it's being written by Disney writers who have demonstrated great ability to write poor screenplays that are full of both Mary Sue characters and plot holes while also destroying the worlds built by writers who came before them?

Man, oh man! Where do I get in line????

Something along the lines of old future Indy sacrificing himself in the past to save Phoebe Waller-Bridge's character, save the future from another time traveling baddie, and set PWB's character on a treasure hunting path similar to his own, in part so they can do sequels in the more interesting pre-WWII and WWII timeframes.

It probably needs $500 million to break even. And it's not even getting Disney+ premium access money.

It's interesting that Disney is continuing to double down on the theatrical release strategy with Eternals. It's almost like the streaming option was making their big new releases just more content in competition with whatever Netflix shat out at the same time. You know, what I predicted a year ago.

106 Disney must love watching Kennedy destroy Star Wars and now Indiana Jones. This plugging in a female lead into old franchises has been done dozens of times and almost never works. Disney pulled it off with The Force Awakens because it hadn't been done yet and Ridley at the time seemed like a pleasant person.

Shang Chi wasn't bad, though I agree that Awkwafina is awful. The first half of the movie is quite good, the lead is okay and the villain is solid. The Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon rip off scene with hero's parents towards the beginning was exceptional. But even though it's Disney, I'm apt to support the film and The Eternals to encourage Hollywood to ignore the Chinese market and the CCP which has been ruining movies.

138 Yeah cause no 15 yo girls has ever had imagings about having sex with them. Of course they imagine it will be love at first sight or something and she'll be in control all the way. Then the situation arises and she finds herself swept away by her emotions/reactions and then when she realizes it wasn't the way she dreamed about she blames herself or the men and maybe tries again. And of course maybe some drugs are involved. Not saying the men aren't doing wrong but the 15 year old (unless she's being held down and forced) has in some way acquiesced to the situation.

Then when they get older they find out that they could get those guys who ruined her dreams and maybe get some sympathy and some publicity (as their career is cratering lately) so suddenly she becomes a CHILD with no responsibility or will in the situation because of course she was seduced.

Sorry that's baloney. And there's a reason why they're called jail bait and not just because of the age but of how quick they will turn on the guy so that they can look all innocent.

My theory on Kathleen Kennedy has always been that's she got oodles of mid-level, career embarrassing, but not career ending blackmail on both Spielberg and Lucas. It's weird though because she herself behaved like one of the boys way back when, and let them get away with whatever they wanted, so long as she got what she wanted too.

Nowadays, both guys can't be bothered to confront her 'cause it's just not worth the time, trouble, and petty drama.

204 Remember how RomComs and Situation Comedies in the late 70s and 80s got to the point where you could write the storyline just by reading the title and seeing who the leads were?

And so finally you stopped going to movies because why bother so then they came out with Block buster and such and local little stores with odd ball offerings? And then that started to fizzle cause there's only so many good movies and then they came out with Netflix and other streaming channels so it was even easier to get stuff you hadn't seen but didn't want to bother with going and getting it but now it's right there at your fingertips?

And now they run out of ideas and since they long ago ran out of stories they're applying filters and we're back in the 70s cause we all know what will be on the screen from the title and stars and the director.

A 15 year old being told by, say, the show's producer that she needs to go along in order to keep her job, that sort of thing. This is why kids should not be in Hollywood -- it's just not safe, and so often the parents don't notice or don't care when the presented offer is: We'll make your kid a star (in exchange for stuff we won't mention right now)!

I Liked it. The movie gets a bit too artsy and vague and tries to be "smart" by not telling the audience what's going on, which is fine. But I wish these directors would know it's "okay" to put a real ending on their smartsy-artsy films, with some resolution.

The pandemic and loss of revenues has got to be giving migraines to executives at the highest levels. They're someone saved by the fact that every studio is facing the same issues, so there's enough blame to go around and prevent any one executive from being the fall guy.

However, you've got bunches of movies that were predicted to bring in so much money now bringing in half of that, maybe. It's got to be wrecking balance sheets like crazy. I was saying it last year when Black Widow was being delayed, but that movie's delay effectively left a billion dollar hole in Disney's books for 2020. The eventual returns are simply not good enough.

China cutting them off will take a while to manifest because it takes so long to make movies, but things could change and pretty soon.

Or maybe go after boomers with Sherlock Holmes? He could transition, or we could meet the real brains of the family, his sister. NO, his adopted sister from Africa! Yeah, that's the ticket. Yes, you better go after the boomers while you still can. The rest will be around for a while.

Also, having sex with a sexually mature teenager, while it may be illegal, is not pedophilia. Pedophiles are a different level of criminals, and we shouldn't dilute the language associated with that kind of behavior.

Which, after all, is nature, right? Once they can breed, they start being attractive to males (and likely vice versa... witness the surge in female teachers getting caught molesting their male charges). Kings used to marry off their daughters like at age 12 to cement alliances and suchlike.

You can find her songs from that show, the first one called "I Don't Know My Name", and the second one, "Clay" -- ironically talking about how she isn't clay to be molded.

When I saw both I said, she'll be used, corrupted, and definitely molded by these demonic people. Now she's 17, and if you watch her latest videos, you'll see how prescient I was. She's exhibiting all industry-standard demonic symbolism now, right down to the shaved head and devil horns. Won't be molded like clay, huh? How'd that work out for you? It means that she only learned that she wasn't the one making all the choices, later, but was being taken advantage of by older men and people who should have been protecting her.

Frankly, I've known men who were abused as teens who decided that because they weren't physically forced and enjoyed a moment or two, that they were gay. No 12 year old, or 13 year old, or 14 year old or 15 year old thinks of him or herself as a child. It's looking back when you know better when you realize that you were a child.

There are several scenes in Skyfall (the best Bond film ever) where he smiles and is charming. When Moneypenny is shaving him, for instance. And he smiles faintly and dryly when he is driving M out of London on their mission to draw Silva after them.

M (about the car): "Not very comfortable, is it?"
Bond: "Are you going to complain the whole way?"
M: "Oh, go on then, eject me. I don't care."

I wonder if it was Lucas's immaturity or just the prevailing attitude of Hollywood. My son studied filmmaking, and all his fellow students' film projects comically ended in death. It was almost a prerequisite. Like a bunch of kids thinking, "What's the deepest subject matter you can tackle? Ooh! I'll have all my characters die!" If you look at the marquees of the early 70s, all the movies were of the Father Knows Best contrarian model -- the anti-Baseball-and-Apple-Pie view. I'm sure if Lucas had any thoughts of making a feel-good movie end happily, they were quickly dispelled by the "experts" in the industry.

495 Navy assistant coach Billy Ray Stutzmann fired after failing to receive exemption for COVID-19 vaccine

Navy has fired assistant coach Billy Ray Stutzmann after he failed to abide by the Naval Academy Athletic Association's policy regarding the COVID-19 vaccination. The policy requires all coaches and staff to be vaccinated against the virus. Stutzmann says he failed to receive a religious exemption that would have allowed him to stay unvaccinated. The Pentagon announced in August that members of the United States military will be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Based on my religious convictions, and after much thought and prayer, I am unable to follow the requirements of the Naval Academy's COVID-19 policy, as it has changed these last few months," he wrote on his Twitter account. "After applying for a religious exemption and attempting to further negotiate alternative working arrangements, I was ultimately relieved of my duties here at Navy. I continue to stand firm in my conviction of faith, but I understand and respect that each individual and institution has a choice on how they wish to manage these issues. I wish Navy football nothing by the best in the future."

The young Carmichael was a pretty good-looking guy. Someone has done up a Twitter parody ostensibly written by "James Bond of Universal Export," with an image from Carmichael's youth as the Bond figure. The gag is that he relates the stories of the Bond novels with illustrations of the time and other artwork, but maintains the fiction that he is a world-traveling salesman/executive for the company.

Social media is cultural cancer. I can't even imagine what it's like. I'm blessed I had nothing like that. Sure, I'd have loved to have been able to "film" things for artistic reasons. Back then, that meant 8mm and audio equipment.

The idiots at the school acted like it was an insurmountable great mystery of the universe level problem to solve.

My wife was a teacher at another private school. The rule was no phones, ever. They were taken at the beginning of the day and given back when they go home. Never a problem there.

I think it's the movie that makes me the happiest when I watch it. It has all the wonder and excitement (and yes, humor) I want in a sci fi movie.

The dialog is more 1950's Warner Brothers cartoon than Steven Fry, but if you were looking for sparkling wit, it probably isn't the right movie for that.

Maybe not, but some actual laugh-out-loud dialog would have been nice. I don't think there's a single marvel movie that did anything for me. Granted, I've seen maybe 4-5 tops. After friends raved and raved about Guardians, I finally gave it a spin. Took me a few days to slog through it. Turned it off the first few minutes, tried again, then finally started to accept it and watch. I honestly don't remember much if anything. And my brain shuts down the instant I see design by committee cute like baby groot and baby yoda - basically baby anything which I've come to understand as desperation. Baby Loony Toons. Baby Scooby Doo. Baby Muppets. Can't think of a compelling character, or something is getting stale? BABY!

But yeah her baggy shapeless clothes, unappealing dye job, etc was an appealing counterculture to girls growing up in a world drenched in a post millennial, social media sexualized world. Could have kept that train going a while but she sold out at last. The head honcho pervs convinced her she needed to bear skin for feminism.

Also she bashes men when her brother and the unique sound he gave her is what made her music what it is. Oh well.

Something delightful every week on that show. I can still watch it with pleasure. And you could find terrific banter between David Janssen and Anthony Zerbe in HARRY O as well. There's nothing much wrong in a formula, if it means you use it as the skeleton of the building you are doing with setting up the scenes, characters and the like. You can even tweak it a bit without losing those who like the formula and pull in some those that don't. But if you have lost the ability to write or film a scene, make a character, or have a plot you follow then without this structure you have jello.

I was just about to point that out, although depending on exactly who, the "in a position of trust or authority" clause might have applied which kicks it up to 18.

Nickelodeon didn't have anything to do with the production of You Can't Do That On Television. Nickelodeon only paid for the syndication broadcast rights. No connection.

Morissette has repeatedly complained in the past that her parents forced her into a music career because they wanted to be the parents of a teen pop star; if I had to bet I'd place money on it being music producers or agents.

Also, Morissette's dysfunctional behaviour as an adult makes a lot more sense when you realize that it's Complex PTSD ("You Oughta Know" is about Dave Coulier who broke up with her because she didn't want to get married and have a family with him)
