Brian Stelter: You Know Who The Real Heroes of 9/11 Were, Right?

taterportrait2.jfif
Would you trust this Potato?

Tater is having a prolonged nervous breakdown.

Cortney O'Brien at Fox News reported CNN's Brian Stelter was slammed for tweeting out a piece from the Associated Press media reporter David Bauder claiming network TV anchors were "the closest thing that America had to national leaders on 9/11."

"Most Americans were guided through the unimaginable by one of three anchors: Tom Brokaw of NBC News, Peter Jennings of ABC and Dan Rather of CBS," Bauder wrote. He also called them "legendary anchors," as the Old Media applauds each other.

Stelter added his own two cents that "political leaders were in bunkers or otherwise out of sight" during the terror attacks, which occurred 20 years ago on Saturday.

briantaterscreenshot911.png

What a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

Stelter responded to critics by saying "Direct any complaints to the author of the piece," but Stelter obviously agreed with the bizarre claim.

How do we know this? Because CNN personnel reflexively call anything they don't agree with "a debunked misinformation conspiracy theory made without evidence spread by Russian bots."

81 What does he mean, "guided"? The news people had no idea what was happening, any more than the rest of us! I remember watching those towers burning, and noticing that the news anchors were nervously *laughing* as they blundered about covering something they'd never had any preparation for. Now I understand that they were nervous, but the point is they were completely at sea, not calm and in control of events, as they seem to imagine they were. I was actually getting a bit annoyed as I watched, because it seemed to me so obvious they were trying to fit this into the known pattern of an *accident*, when it was obvious that this was a horrific attack.

Such a high opinion of himself and his profession! And so eager to share this fact. It was weird to listen to.

The rest of the book is going to be him selecting from tens of thousands of documents the ones that tell the "Real Story of the Afghanistan War." And I'm supposes to trust him because he's the only one telling the truth - he's a reporter, and that's what they do.

"Wait, did I say teachers were the real heroes? No, I meant the real heroes are the, you know, the real heroes. Guy who planted the flag on Iwo Jima has to be in the ballpark, right? I mean if you think about it, you teachers have the same vacations as a child. When it comes to having sex with kids, you're pretty heroic though. I mean, priests look at teachers and say, damn that's a lot of sex with kids you teachers are having"

Followed a half-second later by the sound of his knocked-out self falling jointlessly to the floor. You know, like a sack of potatoes.

Some symmetry there, I think.

125 I watched the tape of the Today Show from 9/11. I do most years. It's real time and you see people living the horror of that day. Couric and Laurer did a good job. Very professional. I think Brokaw came across at a know it all. He did exactly what is done repeatedly today, he speculated. They did report items that were false but quickly corrected themselves or tempered the truth of the reports.
That doesn't happen today it's breathless speculation as truth or outright lies.

201 Not having cable anymore I never see news programs. But on election nights we would find some streaming coverage and watch that. They don't have commercials online, but they have sort of "bumpers" which fill the time when commercials would be running on TV. My God, the self-satisfied insularity! MSNBC would have black and white clips of their courageous reporter "in the field" during some war or natural disaster. No voiceover, just po-faced titles coming up onscreen declaring that "This is who we are... this is what we do... for you... for the world..."

It's like seeing hidden video of some tiny, reclusive primitive tribe that confidently believes they're the only real human beings on earth.

210 He's an odd looking dude. It is hard to put my finger on why.

He's got a crazy intensity about him at all times, this absolute demented certainty of being right and unable to even question it. I ran into a guy like that, he was an intern at my church, a young pastoral candidate who spent the summer in town to train in real life pastoring stuff.

He was insane. It radiated off of him in waves, and the worst part was that he literally was unable to even consider the possibility he could be wrong. It was like being blind, he couldn't even allow doubt into his mind if he tried.

It took a while before most other people caught on, but it was so obvious to me right away. Last I heard of him he was in an underground bunker around 2000 fearing Y2k with his unfortunate wife.

Huh. Maybe she thought she was doing that. When I gave notice at my last job, my boss did something similar but far better. He said, "This is a real surprise and I am trying to wrap my head around it. May I ask why? If it's money, I am sure we can reach some accommodation because we'd like to keep you but if it isn't then I'd like to know why you want to leave so that we can see if there's anything we can do."

279 Insipid navel-gazing aside, in watching several of the real-time tributes to that awful day is the revelation of how much people at the scene and on-air had NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING. The "heroes" of the Media speculated and blathered endlessly about things they knew nothing about. The Press pushed so many conjectures and theories and narratives that they actually IMPEDED the flow of information to the public. Heaven forbid they should just shut up now and then and wait for facts to become known, rather than pushing Breaking News.

(Prime example of this kind of thinking is KTVU in the Bay Area, reporting that the crew of an Asian plane that crashed at SFO was: Sum Ting Wong, Wee Tu Lo, and Ho Lee Fouk.)

Jennings was blabbering and on on about total nonsense when the first tower collapsed, which could be seen in background of the shot of him blabbering. I was sitting on my desk and literally jumped off and yelled "the building just collapsed you f*****g idiot". Don't remember now how long it took him to catch on but it was not immediate. National leaders, my ass. They were good for almost nothing that day.

Idiot is right.
If the friggin' Generals hadn't blown off Trump, they'd of had a plan in place. But actually they had a NEO plan, with several branches and sequels to adapt to changing situations. What they didn't plan for was the complete capitulation by the Biden administration.

352 People responded to Stelter gracelessly slandering the policemen and firemen (you know, the real leaders of 9/11) by saying that the press whores are the real heroes by... dunking on their Twitter feeds?

Meanwhile, real people are being fired from their jobs from refusing to partake in experimental gene therapy, which has nothing to do with the actual terms of their employment.

I'd like for once, just for once, for one of these real heroes to make a public statement about how David Bauder and his spud-kick are insignificant little men not worthy to lick his shoes, and demand their firing on a daily basis.

Memes on Twitter aren't going to get these people fired, you know.

For anyone ferreting around for 9/11 material, the local WPIX broadcast from that morning is quite something else. Several copies on YT last I checked.

Very visceral and real because that was as close as you were gonna get to watching normal people with actual souls, who cared about New York and America, watch it all unfold. I believe it was two ladies in particular and they did a fantastic job.

I tell her I leaving and she just asks, "Is there anything I can do to keep you?"

Last job I left, my west-coast boss happened to be in town in time for me to give my two-weeks' notice. I met with him, told him the news, and he spent the next five minutes asking me how he should handle hiring my replacement. "If I replaced you in our CA office, would people here be nervous?" "How would people here feel if I held off on replacing you for a month or two?" Eventually, he got around to a perfunctory, "Sorry you're leaving."

What a putz. Best move I ever made. I left in August; in December, the company (which had been purchased a few years earlier by a CA industry giant) launched the pending product line we were bought for; in January, everyone was let go.

Benniford Shapiro was on Steven Crowder's show, today. The first thing Benniford says is biden's mandate for large businesses isn't even effective...it should instead be a mandate for small businesses! Why? Benniford says it makes more sense because "those people" work together in "small spaces."

Then, Benniford wanted to make it clear that he thinks the vaccine is "marvelous" and "amazing." Benniford continued by saying "I think" everyone 20 yrs old and older should get vaccinated, and those younger than 20 should probably get "one shot/dose."

Is this asshole a doctor? No, he isn't. (His cuckolding wife is, though, I hear.) Benniford has no business giving medical advice to anyone.

Anyone who Ben Shapiro is "smart" is a stupid idiot. He is not smart. Benniford is dumb. He's not even a full grown man; he is a boy. Every Ben Shapiro in a t-shirt? Not an ounce of muscle. He looks like an malnourished 11 year old boy. Ellen Page looks more like a man than Ben Shapiro. Really.

Being a team player is something you do, not an identity. Meaning, it shows in your actions on the job or not. An employer isn't entitled to your undying loyalty in some emotional sense. 477 Benniford Shapiro was on Steven Crowder's show, today.

He's right about most stuff, but he keeps getting really basic, obvious stuff stupidly and sometimes hilariously wrong. I still get the impression he's not naturally conservative but is studied; that is, he doesn't have a conservative worldview, he has a basic new york left-of-center worldview with conservative ideas learned on top of that. So his gut-level reaction often is left-of-center New Yorker rather than conservative.
