Revealed: White House Weaklings Were Too Afraid to Tell Biden the Truth About Afghanistan

They were "too scared" to tell Biden and National Security Soiboi Jake Sullivan to keep Bagram air base open, for example.

President Joe Biden's aides were "too scared" to question him on key decisions made in the run-up to the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, sources close to the administration have told The Telegraph.

Mr Biden, who is facing the greatest crisis of his presidency, is said to have insisted on recalling troops ahead of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and ignored warnings that it would not leave the military with enough time to get US citizens and allies out.

So key decisions were made entirely on the basis of optics, and being able to say "We're out of Afghanistan" in the 9/11 address.

Perfect.

Well-done.

Normzzz.

Speaking to people close to the administration, The Telegraph has managed to build a picture of a stubborn-headed and defensive president continuing to tout his foreign policy nous, and a staff too afraid to question him.

Nous? The part of the tripartite mind concerned with reason?

One former defence official, who is in regular contact with senior White House aides, suggested that there was not much pushback from concerned officials because they were "too afraid".

"People are simply too afraid to tell Biden (and) Jake Sullivan (his National Security Adviser), they're wrong. It's one thing to crack down on leaks (as Mr Biden has done), it's another thing to allow a mistake like this," they told The Telegraph.

"This White House is very disciplined, especially when it comes to leaks and such. But the downside of discipline is if you're running things like an autocracy, and you broker no dissent internally, that's not what the purpose of a White House staff is."

Meanwhile, the White House says it's "considering" extending the August 31st deadline for evacuating all troops from Afghanistan, and the Taliban, for its part, says that extending that deadline will result in "consequences."

NeverTrump just emailed me to say, "The adults are back in charge!"

Meanwhile, the North American Man-Boy Lincoln Association has sent out fresh solicitations for donations and/or underaged boys.

Related: Tucker Carlson notes that Biden's supposed underlings are openly contradicting him and undermining him -- in public, which is unprecedented.

4 I don't know if anyone has discussed this but there's a bunch of Florida nurses who said they are refusing to come to work because DeathSanta caused a bunch of uninjected MAGA people to get the virus and then come to the hospitals to beg to be saved. They said there's so many filthy dying MAGA uninjected that they can't stand to do their job anymore.

A little while back a nurse went on the media rounds to make these claims before, that MAGA uninjected were dying and she had to tell them, there was no hope for them, tee hee chuckle chuckle, they were all going to die. Well someone looked her up and found there were no covid cases anywhere near the level she said. She was lying. No fallout, everyone just forgot about it.

What's going on with these nurses? If there's lying again the hammer needs to come down. One they are terrible for politicizing this. And two if they're lying they should lose their jobs.

Zero chance that the predicted substantial cooperation with the evacuation so far was *not* greased with $$$, probably both right now, and assurances/winks on the frozen assets.

And of course the "service fees" on the retail level are being extracted by those providing "secure escort" services to the airport. A few days ago the price was $5-6K.

But hey we conjure trillions of $$ out of thin air now, without pause or thought or concern, so I'm not gonna sweat a few $M in ransom payments.

185 Cicero, correct, and I think Goebbels talked about that, too (his diary is quite the historical resource). But the jitters in May '40 of course quickly morphed into euphoria over a quick/easy victory - a large part of it was relief, AND a belief that "OK, that's it, we're done, no more war". The Phony War was a holding pattern. But June 22 '41 was very different.

I really don't care about personalities or parties - at all - but I do (did?) care about reality and policy and results. And none (none) of the major areas of damage being inflicted by these idiots will be affected - in the slightest - by ANY "political" backlash.

These areas are, rightly or as a consequence of constitutional derailment over decades, pretty much exclusively under the discretion of the executive - and, as in illegal mass migration, the failsafe that is always there for the vandals to use is simply failing to enforce laws or policies, a technique for which our system has literally no remedy, or partial remedy.

247 I don't see this mentioned, but I think a big part of the blowback against biden is

a - a lot of those trapped in a-stan are reporters and NGO idiots, or people with connections who got big money deals to provide services. They are afraid, and they have connections.

b - this also applies to our allies. Suddenly they are being mugged by the reality that biden is shit. Now their press, and public, is angry and scared. They report that biden is shit, and that gives the OK to US newspeople to say the same.

c. biden really never had any friends. They picked him because he was easy to control, but CIC is one of the few areas where his power is absolute.

d. finally, all these people from the reporters, or NGOs, or military, or WH staff -- all of them are guilty. They have blood on their hands, and fear they will soon have a lot more. people facing reality look for someone to scapegoat.

He rebukes them, but instead of tugging the forelock as they did in the past, one of them walks up and slaps him. The mystique was gone. They no longer feared him and what he represented. First, recall that the MSM colludes with the deep state, to the point that most of their recently-retired leaders are paid contributors for CNN or MSNBC. The IC wants to escape any blame for this.

Second, Glenn Greenwald's interpretation of why the MSM is mad: https://tinyurl.com/2w6jetzr

There's another aspect to the media rage that's cultural: many went to Kabul over the last 20 years. They saw it as a quasi-western, sophisticated city: theirs. They wouldn't care if Taliban took over rural villages, just like they didn't care when US bombed those. But Kabul!

Western journalists, embedded with NATO militaries, befriended more sophisticated and educated Afghans in Kabul who they used as a translators and stringers. They're hearing from them with real fear. So little attention was paid to the war as long as the west controlled Kabul. . .

Marshall replied, "I am sorry, Mr. President, but I don't agree with that at all."

"Roosevelt gave a startled look, and the outspoken Marshall received expressions of sympathy from the other conferees, who feared that his promising tour of duty in Washington was about to come to a swift end. But they underestimated both the president and the general, and stiff formalities were observed. FDR never again called Marshall "George" in public, and the general always called FDR "Mr. President." 342 >>>>51 29 We'll never see normal again.

We had about a 45-60 day window to right this shit after the world came to an end on 3/13/20.

I knew in my gut that if it went on any longer, it would become permanent. And then, we found out there weren't enough Americans left in America to save her.
Posted by: Guy Smiley at August 23, 2021 05:46 PM (Bmy3R)

I am still in shock. The American people just lay down and accepted tyranny, without a fight. How can we be angry that the Afghan army didn't fight for their country, when we let the Bill of Rights be ended without a peep of complaint.

343 @rhomboid, I'm more optimistic than that. We're only 7 months in. I think he and his successor have a lot more to screw up, things that we can't even imagine, so much so that the reality of the incompetence will break through to become common knowledge.

344 There were separate fiefdoms (army and navy), within which the crazy dynamic you describe was active - though only, or mostly, at the end-points (1941 and before, and 1945). During the heart of the war, there really wasn't much intimidation of leadership going on over actual policy.

You're right, of course. But the endpoints are when it really matters. There's just a lot of dying in between.

Yeah, OK. Easy to believe this crew f***ed everything up.

But what % was slated to remain, anyway? I'd guess a substantial % of what we're hearing about, now. After all in theory we were leaving a country with a military we had stood up and trained, and equipped. So much of this stuff was probably going to be captured at some point, whenever the regime fell.

The decision to invade Russia was not seriously opposed by anyone in upper management. The doubters had already had their asses handed to them after France; nobody in the high command was going to end his career by being on record as opposing the next Great Victory of German Arms.

Besides, Finland had kicked Russia's ass handily in 1939 and according to Nazi ideology, the Russians were just bestial untermenschen incapable of strategic thinking. The Wehrmacht would take them in a romp.

383 Reading about the hair-pulling in the UK is hilarious.

A few short weeks ago, Biden was billed as a "breath of fresh air" by the sad 2nd-raters running the UK (which is sort of sad and 2nd rate, appropriately).

After the UK had been arm-twisted (with some public opinion back-up in the UK, which was astounding) to back away from Huawei, and as they continued to steam about missing out on the gold rush denied them and the other Euros by Trump's Iran policy, I suppose it *was* a breath of fresh air to have the US, again, simply disappear as a consideration or annoyance.

Oh well, too bad, Boris. Well now you'll have more resources and energy to police the thoughts and speech of the inmates, er, "subjects" in your declining island.
