LAT/Berkeley Poll: Support for Recalling Gavin Newsom Has Risen; Recall Numbers Now 47% For, 50% Against

NeverTrump's favorite governor, in serious danger of getting fired.

The 3% difference is smaller than the margin of error.

Even better: Among the recall replacement candidates, Larry Elder leads the field.

Californians who say they expect to vote in the September recall election are almost evenly divided over whether to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom from office, evidence of how pivotal voter turnout will be in deciding the governor's political fate, according to a new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times.

The findings dispel the notion that California's solid Democratic voter majority will provide an impenetrable shield for Newsom, and reveal a vulnerability created by a recall effort that has energized Republicans and been met with indifference by many Democrats and independent voters.

This is an attempt to rally the troops by the leftwing media, because Republicans are frothingly eager to vote, and Democrats are meh.

The poll found that 47% of likely California voters supported recalling the Democratic governor, compared with 50% who opposed removing Newsom from office -- a difference just shy of the survey's margin of error.

Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder, who last week won a court battle to appear on the Sept. 14 recall ballot, leads in the race to replace Newsom among the dozens of candidates in the running, while support for reality television star Caitlyn Jenner remains low, the survey found. Forty percent of likely voters remain undecided on a replacement candidate, providing ample opportunity for other gubernatorial hopefuls to rise in the ranks before the Sept. 14 special election.

Let's hope.

There is a Plan B, though.

My husband is on his way to a meeting. His longtime vocation involves a team of guys. They are like family. This team/family has some members who have fallen prey to the Covid fear porn. They have been "staging an intervention" to try to persuade my husband to get the shots. One of them, who got jabbed, refuses to participate in projects because he might catch Covid. This means none of the guys work since one of the guys won't work. I think a couple of the guys are going to say they can't work with my husband because he is not safe to be around.

My husband has been directly exposed multiple times and has not become sick. I'm convinced we both are immune. We do not want to risk the side effects of the shots and do not believe they could possibly enhance our immunity.

Will you pray for my husband's situation, please? Thank you.

Meaning that pretty much every Republican and Independent will need to vote, plus a large crossover vote to overcome the fraud.

I am hopeful that many states can clean up their acts, but CA isn't one of them. It is a picture of the one party rule that awaits all of us, if Democrats get their way.

Want a clearer understanding of why we're so criminally fucked?

*Forbes* Article: Why Speaking English May Spread More Coronavirus Than Some Other Languages

PARAGRAPH 13:

"There were indeed more cases of coronavirus infection in countries that spoke languages with aspirated consonants. These countries showed 255 cases of Covid-19 per 1 million residents, while the countries where the languages had few aspirated consonants had 206 cases of Covid-19 per 1 million residents. Technically these numbers did not achieve statistical significance, but the observation is interesting nonetheless. "

You say that, but let's be honest, Bruce Jenner has serious, serious mental problems. That cannot be denied.

It's not that easy to suggest a mental patient can govern a state as large and fucked up as California, with serious pressures and constant opposition forces he would face. But even still, yeah, he'd probably do a better job. It might be a serious rollercoaster, but the end should better than what they have now.

235 The awful things we see going on around us in law and business and entertainment and education are merely symptoms of a culture that has wholly rejected God and the morality that He represents and commands.

No amount of secession or new judges or civil war or culture wars will change that. The problem is not being imposed from without.

We need to change, within. We need to be transformed and renewed. We need to repent individually. That means no more porn, no more profanity, no more abuse of drugs and alcohol, no more premarital sex, no more selfishness, hedonism, and pride. It means humble obedience, submission to God's will, and deliberate, intentional virtue.

Without the transforming work of God nobody will give any of that up. None of us. You cannot have the good without the sacrifice.

Not really looking at numbers, but a lot of countries are reporting that a lot of hospital admissions are vaccinated. Thou shalt not steal is a moral statement dummy. Ought to do is tautologically morality because that's the meaning of the word.

Societies require people through multiple means, including laws backed by violence to adhere to various "ought to dos". All laws tell you what you "ought to do" according to a group with violence to back it.

Dell Won't Ship Certain Gaming PCs To States Like California Due To Energy Regulations

Computer manufacturers like Dell are running into regulatory restrictions preventing them from shipping power-hungry gaming rigs to a handful of states.

California is of particular note, as it was the first to approve energy efficiency limits for computers in December 2016. Though the standards didn't take effect until January 1, 2019, PCs built between then and July 1, 2021 must use no more than 50/80/100 kWh per year for expandability scores (ES) of less than 250, 251-425, and 426-690, respectively. This period marks Tier I requirements. Anything assembled after July 1, 2021 must follow Tier II restrictions: consume no more than 50/60/75 kWh per year for the same ES scores. According to its product description, the Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10 idles at 66.29 watts and uses 563.01 watts when stressed.

This is like speaking to a hippie about economics. Statements of morality are statements about what a person ought to do.

Sending cops to beat up someone for shitting in the street is using violence to force a person to adhere to what a person "ought to do". Using violence to enforce morality. This is what laws are. There are other means to enforce morality but this is entirely what the law is about.

Laws say "you must adhere to this or be punished."

Age of consent laws are questions of morality. They've obviously varied throughout history but you damn well better set one or you have serious problems

Also, GPS receivers in the PNW show that stations regularly slide sideways over a several week period, a "slow earthquake" These release the equivalent of a Mag 6 earthquake, reducing stress on the fault. Was this happening in the past to the same extent? Nobody knows.

486 This is like speaking to a hippie about economics. Statements of morality are statements about what a person ought to do.
Turbin - you make this way too easy. Just scroll up. I literally said, not that many posts ago - that people like you and people on the Left are EXACTLY the same. You both believe you are "on the right side" of morality. They are pushing their morality. And they're just as self assured as you are.
You get yours from the Bible. They get theirs from Zinn. And you both quote your own texts while insisting you know what everyone else "ought to do". And you're all perfectly confident that your assumptions are the right ones. No different than a Muslim, for that matter.

Are you not doing the same thing? Is this not a universal trait?

Most honest statement I've read today - a damn fine question. Seriously.
I just assume I'm fucked up. I try to make as small a footprint as possible. I stay in my own yard. If my neighbor is high as a cat's ass - it's not my problem. And not my job to tell anybody.
I sure as shit don't assume I have all the answers. I'm just at the stage where I'm figuring out some good questions. And I find I dislike the Right just as much as I do the Left. They both assume way too much.

Yeah it's the moral relativism trap. The real logical conclusion of moral relativism is that there's no standard saying anyone shouldn't try to enforce their moral standards. Usually they somehow mistake it as saying that no one should try to enforce their moral standards. He can't seem to learn what laws are so it's about as useful as talking to a brick wall.

All societies impose a morality. Yes obviously I'm trying to impose my morality(or something sufficiently similar to it that I find living in that society tolerable) and the left is trying to impose a different morality. What morality gets imposed has real world effects. This isn't hard.

Posted by: Red Turban Someguy (z5Vrg) - The Republic is Already Dead at July 27, 2021 06:18 PM (z5Vrg)

495 Thou shalt not steal is rather obviously something the left has a moral disagreement with myself and most of the right on.

Posted by: Red Turban Someguy (z5Vrg) - The Republic is Already Dead at July 27, 2021 06:19 PM (z5Vrg)

496 Viewing the imposition of morality as immoral due to morality being a personal preference is self-refuting.

similar to it that I find living in that society tolerable) and the
left is trying to impose a different morality. What morality gets
imposed has real world effects.

And I despise you both - because neither of you are "right". It's just a matter of who wins. Right now, you're acceptable - just because you are losing. Once in the majority, if you ever get there, you'll be just as miserable to live under as those on the Left.

And people scoff when I say some of you would support Theocracy. Of course some of you would. Because doing good has no end.

Posted by: Arrow Straight at July 27, 2021 06:21 PM (mntuw)

498 You have moral positions. Own it. Except for that stupid one about not wanting other people to adhere to your moral position(not wanting them to impose is already one). Think like a human being and have reasons for them. It's fine to be wrong.

Another mistaken assumption you appear to have is that all morality must be enforced by law. Only Legalism ever seemed to assert that far. Law is one of many practical ways of regulating human conduct in a society.

499 I sure as shit don't assume I have all the answers.

I believe in my social policy preferences because I believe them to be the best. I wouldn't believe in them otherwise. But I remain open to persuasion. If persuaded, I would believe the new thing because I thought it true and best. Moreover, because I believe something to be best for me and society, I try to persuade others to this policy. If I can persuade a majority, can I not have my policy preference actualized as law? Isn't that the very definition of self-government? Are we to be opposed to self-government because we don't agree with the citizens who make it up?

Frankly - I don't believe in "optimizing" society. I believe in leaving each other alone as much as possible. I sure as shit don't believe in "enforcing my morality".
Morality is, by and large today, a nice euphemism for doing shit as I wish, rather than you wish.

Me either. I'm more of a good enough is good enough guy. But I guess that would be optimum.

504 1) The Leftists have absolute control of all aspects of government in California, including vote counting/fabricating/reporting.
2) They also have the ability to fabricate any number of votes as they desire with no chance of any consequences even if they are detected.
3) If the Democrat Party wants to keep Newsom in office, regardless of what the people of California want, he remains. If the Democrat Party wants Newsom gone, the Democrat Party will select his replacement, regardless of what the people of California want.
4) Cascadia is a best case scenario.

506 "The majority of Americans want a secular government. They don't want a religious government.

Gonna' start an Inquisition ? You think that's the path ? Gonna' win with that ?"

America was founded on shared morals and principles the came from a Christian worldview. Out of that moral belief, a government was created that separated out church and state. But once you get rid of Christian principles (i.e. that we are all equal before G-d), it's nothing but a free-for-all for power and grift.

510 Don't believe for a minute that jenner is a conservative. That whole thing is just to get conservatives to vote once for a transgender, and that'll open the floodgates to all kinds of new BS...He's a useful idiot and there are reasons for his running that have nothing to do with governing.
