PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR MINDS
This week, social media has been a black hole of stupid: First, there's Nancy Pelosi's ~~show trial~~ "investigation" of the January 6th trespassing riots, including a lot of crocodile tears, table pounding and quavering voices. I have never seen such a sorry collection of drama queens in all my life. It's not so much an investigation as it is an avant-garde interpretive dance.

And then the CDC thought it was time for another dose of panic porn because the old dose was starting to wear off and people were starting to feel like they could perhaps see a path to getting back to normal. So it's back to masking, even for children playing indoors. The fact that there are people in this country who take the CDC's back-and-forth pronouncements seriously just boggles my mind.

And now get a load of this:

This was the first tweet of a long, preachy thread which isn't there any more because she deleted it, and in fact, she deleted her entire account. But I did get a chance to read through some of the replies and I was disgusted to see how many of them were of the "you go, girl!", and "I'm going to do what you're doing" and "I wish we had more people like you" variety.

But look what she's wearing.

1. Some sort of head covering. I have no idea how a head covering is supposed to protect her from a virus.

2. Safety goggles. Huh? We used to wear these in shop class. Also when working on DIY projects around the house. They're good protection against flying wood chips and getting poked in the eye from an errant screwdriver or drill bit, but I don't see how it would be able to stop a virus, or prevent you from spewing out viruses.

3. Mask. This doesn't look like the run-of-the-mill face diaper that most people wear. This looks like a step up. I think it's this one here. It's designed for industrial work against particle hazards (dust and mist). Doesn't say anything about viruses. I'm assuming it is supposed to prevent you from sneezing or blowing out virus-laden droplets from your nose or mouth, if you have covid-19.

I think the benefits this lady is getting are psychological more than any actual protection. I think wearing all of these things simply makes her feel more safe.

When I got home from the hospital in May after my latest injury, Mrs. Muse contacted one of those "in home" physical therapist outfits to see if such was right for me. So the therapist makes an appointment for a visit, and she arrives all decked out in that mask/goggle getup. Before we can even begin, she informs us that that "her rules" required us to be masked(!). I couldn't tell if this was a company-imposed rule or her own personal choice. We had rehersed the possibility of this scenario the night before, since we knew it was a possibilty. We informed her that we would not be wearing masks in our own home, and if one of us were sick, we would've cancelled the appointment. We went around about this for a bit and, as it turned out, we mutually decided that in-home PT wasn't necessary for the type of injury I had, so that was that. I actually felt sorry for her. She looked very much like the lady in the tweet.

It makes me sad to see trained medical professionals behaving this way, egged on by social media enablers, power-obsessed politicians, and corrupt CDC bureaucrats. Do we believe in science or superstition? We might as well start wearing those medieval plague masks and be done with it.

7/8 Update – Please keep praying for Danielle and Kristin and their health issues. Also, they recently lost their current home, when the owner decided to move back in.
6/26 – NaughtyPine needs prayers. Both of her parents have been diagnosed with cancer this week, and she will be helping with transportation to appointments and treatment. She lives about 4 hours away from her parents, so will be living with them at least part of the time. She asks for prayers for healing for her parents and “Coping Gainzz” for herself.
7/7 – Tonypete requests prayers for Anna. A lifetime of too much drinking has caused monumental problems with her health and well-being. She has been sober for a few months and things are looking better, but every day is a huge mountain for her to overcome. Prayers are needed for her to stay on the path.
7/12 – Weak Geek asks for prayers for comfort and strength for the wife and daughters of his former co-worker M.S., who died last week at age 57 after his health took a plunge last month. God grant the women strength.
7/21 – TA needs prayers for his daughter, Sarah, who is profoundly sad and lonely.

For Healing:
7/03 – Slapweasel requests prayers for Psych_bear’s dad, who just found out he has stage 4 kidney disease.
7/15 – Taxpayer1234 would like prayers for her mother, who had a heart attack while coming out of anesthesia for cataract surgery. She is conscious and able to speak, but was being transferred to a different hospital for angioplasty and will need to spend time recovering. Taxpayer1234 asks for prayers for total healing and a speedy recovery.
7/26 Update – Taxpayer1234’s mom is home and doing well.
7/26 – NM requests prayers for her sister and dad. Her sister is having back surgery Wednesday (7/27). It should be an out-patient procedure. Prayers for a successful surgery and quick healing/recovery are welcome. Her Dad has tested positive for Covid. He mostly just feels really tired, but the concern is that if he caught it even when vaccinated that her grandparents could get it too, and they’re in their 90s. Prayers for Dad’s complete recovery and protection for the others in the house would be much appreciated.

As I always understood it. The membranes and the eyes, because of the high amount of capilaries and blood flow, can readily absorb things. The idea if the goggles is to make sure that you do not get fluid contact with the eyes, whatever that fluid might be, either contaminated blood or some other fluid.

This is actually why even using just respirators (N95, etc) in public settings is useless. No point filtering out what you're breathing in if your eyes are exposed; even safety glasses that aren't sealed cut down your exposure quite a bit.

If the lady reaaaaaalllly wants to avoid exposure, then yes, actual goggles, a properly fitted respirator, proper procedures for removing them, proper decon of your EDC items, and *not being a retard* would almost eliminate exposure in a non-medical setting.

But why bother? If it's that big a deal you can skip the cost and hassle of PPE and just have shit delivered. I would say she's a virtue signalling bint, but more likely she's just not all that bright. Medical professionals have a much bigger interest in not getting sick; most of them aren't going to get paid for the 2-4 weeks of work they'll lose.

No, actually they do know. Indefinitely below freezing, up to three weeks on most plastics at normal room temp/humidity. 2-3 days on the more non-reactive metals (stainless, etc), about a day on paper, minutes to hours on stuff like copper or brass. All assuming no UV exposure, of course. Half an hour or so at ~165F will generally kill enough of it.

This was all sorted out more than a year ago; the information has been a combination of suppressed and ignored because they wanted to push masks and kabuki infection control measures while still ensuring that it spreads. The most charitable interpretation from months ago is that they wanted to let it rip on purpose for herd immunity while playing pretend with masks, but these people are such shitbags that I'm sure they mostly wanted to draw it out.

The whole social distancing idea came from some old research into the spread of tuberculosis in the 1930's through 50's based on how far spray and sputum from a coughing patient would go. From what I remember, a student whose father was someone in the GWB administration and won a science fair award was the cause of this old research being relevant to WH policy apparatus partially due to the original SARs virus scare.

We have better research now and there is a strong probability that there is a fecal connection as well as respiratory to human corona virus spread. This makes intuitive sense as the original corona virus for dogs was intestinal and it then morphed into a very contagious respiratory virus as well.

I have to assume it's all CA mandates. The place(s) I had my mother in understood - very quickly - that the cure was worse than the disease. At that age, when all you've got to look forward to is a visit - no matter how brief - and it never comes? They just give up. One place would sneak me in a side door. The last one would let me come in on occasion, but I always knew when the pressure was on them and I had to talk through a window. I don't think a hug or holding hands is quite the same when that person is wearing hazmat gear.

Covid has a lipid shell that when either pulled apart by surface tension of a material, attacked by UV light (artificial or solar), degraded by heat, or chemically reduced by solvents like alcohol, loses its lipid protection layer and thus its ability to infect.

A regular Doctor is just there for diagnosis. Sounds like your brake fluid is low, have a pill. A surgeon actually gets to work on the car. In fairness to both, we don't have good manuals for the human body, which comes in so many different models.

398 My general practioner until he retired a couple of years ago had his undergraduate engineering degree from MIT in the 60's. He knew his stuff and kept up on medical research.

Some of the older ones were good, but they were trained differently; they learned things like smelling problems being often much more valuable than testing. They knew how to use common sense and passed-down wisdom instead of a book and a computer and sending stuff to a lab.

My old doc was a mechanical engineer that went to med school. So his broader training definitely helped him be able to keep up with the medical research.

455 And as long as we're mentioning prayers, I didn't get a chance to send this in, but I did mention it once yesterday, FenSpouse got dizzy and fell over after carrying things walking up an incline at the church last week. One test indicated he had an enlarged heart, but he has to go for a a more extensive cardiac consultation today. I worry about him because he avoids doctors, but both of his parents died in their 60s from heart attacks. When you wait to consult doctors and then wait for tests-as many of you here know as regards yourself or others it can be stressful, so prayers would be much appreciated. Thanks

I hope that thing is an epic fail. Seriously, the Jungle Cruise ride was lame back in the early 60's. The only good part was the guy shooting the hippo back when they were allowed to do such things.

The memory holing is fast and furious. There was an article from LA Times that 65% of delta cases were vaxxed. My buddy who works at LA hospital said there's 16 new deltas in his ICU, none vaxxed. I really have to wonder though how much accurate info they get - or if he (as I suspect) always gets the worst of the worst, adding to his paranoia.

Yes. I loved it too. Couldn't master teeth, but I was a maestro at cutting nails without hitting the quick.

Only thing I hated (as you surely know) was coming in to find a dog I loved was going to be euthanized. That sucked.

The fecal to oral transmission pathway was known pretty early on. Disinfecting surfaces and avoiding buffets will reduce it. Way too many people do not wash their hands after using the toilet. Wearing masks helps with that as well since you cannot chew your nails or rub your mouth or nose after touching a contaminated door handle or shopping cart.

This Covid has revealed who are really scientists and who are really just highly paid nurse assistants. Doing what they're told to do but who couldn't figure out how to diagnose anyone for just about anything. Most of the people when we go to see our doctors on a regular schedule are actually just clerks. Recording your stats so the Dr. doesn't have to and checking your meds so the Dr. doesn't have to etc etc. This is so the Dr. spends less than 10 minutes with any one patient. (probably less if they can) that means they can see more patients during a work day and yet get paid as if they gave you a thorough examine to make sure you're okay.

And forget about it you have something they don't know what it is. Then you see who's a Dr. and who's just there to empty bedpans.

Well, it was funny to me: Last night we had a group that that meets for dinner, prayer, a scripture reading and a reflection of the "Upper Room" devotional. It's actually today's devotional on Lot's wife looking back after Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. So the discussion questions were about when have you "looked back" and when has that not been helpful in your spiritual or personal growth, but how has God helped you move ahead? Those who go to church Bible discussion groups know they can go off on tangents. One of the comments had to do with not looking back on some hurtful comments people have made-not reliving them. One woman shared that her daughter wanted to show her a text of someone they both knew and the person said "I saw the back end (clothed) of your mother in the bathroom, She looked thick" I don't know why her daughter wanted to share that, but heh. So then they got off on the subject of big butts-of how some celebrities think this is a good thing So one man in the group turns to my husband and says "Isn't it great to be with the ladies who are are talking about big butts?" We all laughed.

585 In re: panic porn -- one of my old friends from high school is a doctor and when covid hit she decided to not go home *for over a year* so as to "not be a threat to her family.

During that year she was always wearing PPE and whatnot, still got the bug but recovered easily from it, and yet even after becoming immune and unable to spread it, still refused to go home. The LA Times even wrote an article about her after she finally did go home.

Comments were all along the lines of "oh what a wonderful human you are for making such a sacrifice."

Utterly ridiculous.

Something else is awry here, because they know, that we know, the masks don't help. their is no significant difference in transmission rates between masked and unmasked participants. It's all a matter of viral load and un still air. And yet, some vaccinated people are getting or transmitting somehow now?
Couple that with the fact they are hiding actual data points and claiming the vaccines are 100% safe.
I think the real problem here is, the "smartest" people in the room all rushed out and got an experimental vaccine and the "dumb rubes" didn't, and we dumb rubes may be better off than those smart people, and that's what's REALLY got them riled up...
