Good morning, kids. Tuesday and with DC being such a target-rich environment -- rhetorically speaking -- it's only natural that the news of the day across virtually all categories is equally pressing and infuriating. Today, though, as we get set for what is on the face of it a kangaroo court fiasco with this January 6th inquiry (but considering the rhetoric, the blood-libeling and smears might have deadly consequences for many thousands of us and more), like a case of extraterrestrial zombie herpes, Andrew "Angel of Death" Cuomo erupts onto the scene with two (count 'em, two!) stories today that are sure to make your head explode. Both of them are centered around the life-sucking and freedom-sucking biological-cum-psychological weapon of General Tso's Sicken. First, this mobbed up worm is lacing up his Hugo Boss jackboots to come after the Empire State's refuseniks, who, with all of the info finally coming out that tends to confirm our suspicions about this disease as well as "the cure," are not eager to take the Nestea plunge into a main vein:

"We have to knock on those doors, and we have to convince people, put them in cars & drive them and get that vaccine in their arm. That is the mission. . . "
. . . Recent surveys suggest unvaccinated Americans remain firm in their decision not to get a coronavirus vaccine, and many of them cite concerns related to vaccine development, as well as worries over adverse side effects.

Well, Nipsy. What happens when your emissaries are greeted with a cordial "fuck off" and a door slam? Will you be taking names or will there be state troopers to hold the miscreant down as a wet nurse trained in Guadalajara, or Dachau, assures him he won't feel a thing? By the way, I understand that a significant percentage of vaccine skeptics are comprised of colored people of color. And that presents rather a ticklish problem for Democrats; can't start blasting them as ignorant, unwashed, anti-science Trumpists, now can they? It's also rather ironic that ever since Trump announced Operation Warp Speed to implement these vaccines, the propaganda machine went into overdrive to impugn him and the efficacy of the vaccines, all but labeling he and them poison. Yet, once they got away with stealing the election, they were left with the now Herculean task of going on the air and stating with a straight face "Vaccines are good for you! Take the shot and no more lockdowns and masks!"

And yet not only have we discovered that the vaccines are at best not that effective and at worst lethal, but that even if you get them there are still mask mandates and the threat of another lockdown because, Delta!!! And Epsilon, and Gamma, and Sigma, and Theta, and Zeta, and so on and so on and scoobie doobie doobie. Until morale improves. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face but this entire fiasco was completely unnecessary and in fact counterproductive. The Chinese Lung AIDS which indeed originated in a Chi-Com bioweapons lab and unleashed either accidentally or accidentally on purpose is known to be only marginally more lethal than common flu, or in other words, 99.93% of people who contract it and get sick will recover and have naturally produced antibodies to protect them. And for those who do get seriously ill, cheap, readily available and proven therapeutics would alleviate symptoms within a couple days. All we had to do, as we have done in the past, is ensure that the most vulnerable are safely quarantined.

But we didn't do that. We essentially performed a double radical mastectomy, and amputated two legs and an arm to treat an infected mosquito bite on the forehead. Worse still, Cuomo's incompetence which is looking more and more like malice aforethought, resulted in the needless deaths of over 15,000 elderly and vulnerable nursing home residents when he insisted on housing Chinese COVID-infected people in their facilities. Same goes for his colleagues in other blue shit-holes like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Connecticut.

All of the above was this morning's boot in the groin. Here comes the stomp to the head.

Gov. Cuomo tried to rewrite history Monday by portraying himself as having never fudged the facts about the COVID-19 pandemic and its devastating, deadly impact on New York.
During a Yankee Stadium news conference at which he outlined plans to boost vaccination rates in various communities, Cuomo insisted that he's never lied to New Yorkers on the subject of the coronavirus.
"I am telling you as I sit here, I have told you the facts on COVID from Day One," he said.
"Whether they were easy, whether they were hard -- I told you the truth."
But Cuomo's version of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth hasn't always aligned with reality:
Cuomo's "truth": "The Department of Justice dismissed it."
On Monday, Cuomo said his administration was off the hook for its handling of nursing homes amid the pandemic due to Friday's revelation that the Department of Justice had decided not to investigate potential violations of the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
"It was an outrageous allegation," Cuomo said.
"And it did a lot of harm and a lot of damage and then went on too long. I mean, this went on for like a year, until finally, the Department of Justice dismissed it."
The reality:
Friday's move only covered about 30 government-run nursing homes out of more than 600 senior care facilities across the state and doesn't appear to have affected a potentially broader investigation into cases of COVID-19 among residents, employees and other staffers at New York's privately run nursing homes.
That inquiry involves the possibility that "grossly substandard care" was provided to beneficiaries of the federal Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Cuomo and his administration are also the focus of a criminal probe by the FBI and the Brooklyn US Attorney's Office into their cover-up of the total nursing home death toll from COVID-19 and the governor's $5.1 million book deal for his pandemic memoir.

And that's just one aspect of this comprehensive Fisking courtesy of the New York Post. Read the whole thing, if nothing else for its emetic qualities. Serial sexual assaulter, fraudster from this transparently crooked book deal as well as an ethics investigation into state corruption that he shut down when the spotlight hit him, and now a callous mass-murderer for the sake of giving Trump a black eye and sabotaging his 2020 campaign, and worse, to cut the state's healthcare costs by killing off its most expensive constituency. Doesn't that just ring a bell, or to be more precise a glockenspiel?"

So yesterday, while listening to Baltimore talk radio, I learned that some zip codes in the city have as low as less than 30% vaccination rate.
Demographically, these are heavily black, and democratic neighborhoods, so it certainly is not support of Trump or any of the usual bullcrap that is being spewed by the media.

Then callers began to let the host know that it is mostly distrust of the government, as well as simple pushback from being told what to do by our betters.

So here is where my brain began to go off-track.

If there is this much push-back from the vaccine, has anybody on the left actually asked themselves how the citizenry would comply with an effort to ban firearms?
Our leaders just might wish to genuinely ask themselves that question.

I was watching an old game show this morning (well, it was on in the background during my ablutions) and Pluto TV - which is owned by ViacomCBS, which also owns Paramount - ran an ad for their new Paramount+ streaming product. The come-on was live access to the "60 Minutes" program.

They ran two clips from "60 Minutes" as part of the ad. One was some press whore interviewing a parent of one of the Jan 6 political prisoners, asking the subject whether she thought her son did anything wrong and then looking astounded when the subject said all her son did was walk through an open door. The second clip was of a press whore walking through a BLM riot last summer and talking about the thirst for justice among America's black community.

It was either profoundly tone-deaf and stupid, or it was deliberately subversive on the part of the editor. I am inclined toward the former.

Looking at the links when I was trying to figure out how local doctors in Podunk, Arkansas tested for the Delta Smelt variant, that very thing kept coming up. This one is worse for kids!!! (worse = kids might even develop a sniffle or runny nose from this variant that is exclusively driven by evolution to counter the vaccinated population)

Vaccinating children is apparently the entire reason for the delta push.

The real question in my mind is who will act in the role of preserver? When Rome fell, that mantle was taken up by the Church. Much of what we know about Rome is because the Church preserved it through the millennium of tumult that followed the fall. We'll never know how much was *not* saved, but we do know what was.

I wonder who does that for us. Possibly no one, which would be the most tragic thing of all.

Even if we did learn those lessons, we have a mechanical problem that prior civilizations didn't: our records are ephemeral now. Everything (for the most part) has been computerized. In some cases, non-computerized originals exist (typically in big catalogues like the National Archives and university collections, but those are being systematically destroyed) but for stuff over the past 30 years or so, there is often no hard copy at all. Electronic media don't survive without constant maintenance (and even if it does, you still have to be able to read it).

Leakiness was one of the problems with the original Polio vaccine (Salk's). The second Polio vaccine (the oral one) dealt with that problem, but had the nasty side effect of sometimes giving you Polio instead of inoculating you against it. They solved that in the first generation by giving you both. First, the Salk vaccine to protect you, and then the oral vaccine to make sure it sterilized (and if that side effect happened, it didn't matter because you already had the Salk vaccine). I think it was another several years before an all-in-one was developed that both sterilized and wouldn't potentially give you the disease.

Leaky vaccines are dangerous.

It's essentially the same as what you have to do for an I-9 employment form if you're a citizen. You need a birth certificate and a social security card, or a US Passport (plus whatever residency stuff you need to have, like bills that prove you live in the place you say you do).

States could add Vax status to their own ID requirements, I suppose. The get it as a "RealID" requirement, that would have to be Federal and come through, I think, DHS. If I'm right about that, it will happen as soon as the EUA is lifted and approval is granted because DHS never met an oppressive rule they didn't like.

From what I understand the vaccine causes your immune system in general to go into overdrive (spike proteins?) as opposed to flu shots where you get injected with a dead virus to build antibodies agains that particular virus.

When I moved to CO, I brought a birth cert, unlaminated SS card, my existing NYS license and a current utility bill for my new place.

Thought I had it covered, but they informed me that my "hospital birth certificate" which I have used my entire life, for everything, ever, as it was the ONLY birth cert I have ever had, was not good enough.

I had to order my "real" County BC to be pulled from some vault in Albany and airmailed to me. Cost me 80 bucks and NYS had it to me within 10 days. Bith the cost and the shipping time were way better than I would have expected from New York, I must say.

One more trip to the DMV and I got the enhanced license.

Yeah, when I got mine I had a folder full of stuff just in case one supporting doc was rejected -- and then they rejected the car insurance invoice because it was over 30 days old. Firtunately, they had PCs available so that I could go online and download a current statement from my insurer's site.

Weird that they are asking for unopened, since my DMV were checking the invoice dates for my utility bills to ensure they were current enough to be accepted. . .

I also needed my official birth certificate (not a photocopy). And I needed my marriage license (not a photocopy) to show why my name changed from my maiden name on the birth certificate to the current Mrs. Black. I think we made a few trips back and forth to the DMV until I got the documents I needed. It was a pain. The only good thing is I live in a rural area and you can usually walk right into the DMV and you're the only one there.

Only utility bills or govt agency mailings work.

My other son had to take lease. You can also take mortgage statement.

This state over here does it online with arguably little back checking while that one over there requires 3 forms of current ID, a blood test and two family members to personally vouch, under oath, you are who you say you are.

The requirements for "real ID" were determined by the feds nearly 6 years ago and at that time were focused on air travel. It's sort of become a mess. A national effort for a vax passport will likely be equally fucked up.

It has been 16 years since the REAL ID Act was passed and HALF of all the states have already met the REAL ID minimum standards.

So in half the states people are voting with a piece of plastic that has nothing to do with their identity.

I am going to guess that you have never lived in a sanctuary city or state. That ratchets up the surreality by quite a bit. In a sanctuary city, the law applies if you're a citizen but it doesn't if you're an illegal. This manifests in a lot of ways, but the one that hits closest and most viscerally is when it comes to traffic.

If you get pulled over and you're white, Asian or black, you will get the maximum. No warnings, no "get that headlight fixed," etc. You get the maximum fine, every time, no matter what. If you're a Latino or speak with an accent, you just get waved through. They know you're not going to pay and they also know there's no recourse because the sanctuary requirements mean that even if they take you in, you're just going to be released.

Sanctuary policies make illegals into masters and citizens into slaves.

263 Went to get my MO driver's license last week. Thought I'd "upgrade" to REAL ID. Clerk told me my utility bill stub wasn't sufficient. I had to have the ENTIRE utility bill stub, even though my address is printed on both portions. Rather than go and come back with a different form of ID, I just opted for the regular renewal. If I ever have to get a REAL ID, I'll just have to fork over an additional $12 and submit a 3-ring binder of documentation, I suppose. Overall I was in and out of the driver's license office in less than 15 minutes, so there is that.

It is a Federal requrement. So you would need it to gain access to Federal facilities, too. If you show an ID to enter a Federal building, it must be a "Real" one. But it still isn't really required. They postponed it from 2020 due to the bug, and I think it has been kicked back to 2022 now.

If we assume (for some reason that has never been clearly articulated) that the general state of the climate in 60s-80s was ideal and that changes are bad, we must also acknowledge that not all change is equally bad. If there is to be change, warming is better for people than cooling. Cooling results in things like this - shorter growing seasons, more crop failures due to late frosts, more glaciation encroaching on arable land in the northern agricultural extremes, etc. Warming might result in a bit of desertification, but is overall good for agriculture.

And what is good for agriculture is good for man.

They're explicitly stating it, and it isn't a shark jump by their own standards. They're Postmodernists. In their philosophy, *everything* - literally every aspect of every thing in every context - reduces to power struggles between groups. Any group with more power than another is definitionally bad and thus that group should be knocked down and disempowered. It's also inherently collectivist (since groups are groups and groups are the basic unit - not merely aggregations of individuals), so you can add in the nuance of "any group more powerful than a socialist group is bad and should be disempowered" - but even without that nuance, the effects are the same.

441 Gymastics have evolved for decades. Athletes are doing crazier shit than ever before. Nadia Comaneci was the best of her time no doubt. She wouldn't get bronze today bevause routines are far more complex now, and they have added more challenges. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the engineering aspects of training. Athletes now have access to latest-tech equipment that helps them track their performance down to the milisecond. Something that didn't happen before.

I think they had the change the scoring system to take into account the new skills and techniques.

Yeah, but she is old, way past her primetime. I suspect she got preferential treatment, not because she is Black, but because her name brings that sweet sponsoring money.

This is nothing new though. Big shots like Carl Lewis, Michael Phelps, and now Simone Biles have been the darlings of US sports (I refuse to name that fraud who cheated in the Tour de France 7 times) and there was mobey to be made by favoring them, no matter what.

450 This whole covid stuff - never have a pandemic in a presidential election year. It was immediately politicized in every dimension possible including a few that nobody can describe. This was a medical issue and on occasion it was treated as one and that is the problem in a nutshell.

Plus the flip flopping messaging didn't help one bit. The tests not working - in the fog of war stuff happens. Some early and straightforward communication would have helpful. Threating to exclude our neighbors from life for not getting a jab - that is a problem too. The discord needs to be dialed down a bunch.

I don't follow her either because of that. Same goes for Lord James. Such politics ruined athletics for me but they are still remarkably talented people. My sports today are mostly kids sports, HS, and local colleges.

Good question. Would Trump be digging deeper into the feasibility of the shots? I kinda want to see if he is saying anything about them. On one hand, it was an amazing feat to get them created so quickly, but with all of the uncertainty, what part of what cap does any feather go if at all?
