Lego Tactical Assault Squad Cafe: Teaching a Broken-Winged Eagle to Fly Again

supercellstormcloudsphotography.jpg
Photograph by L. Heiden

A rescue puppy is terrified of other dogs and even of the outdoors, but gets brave.

Outdoor cat follows a human around until she adopts him.

Singing parrot.

Dog always greets his mom with a little gift. The downside is that the "gifts" are crap that dogs think are great, like old stinky rubbished slippers.

Dog that's been lost for a year is reunited with his favorite boy.

Three dudes are afraid of a mouse.

Don't mess with Chad's car.

Does anyone remember the former sports league called "the NFL"? It was engaged in the business of providing entertainment by staging sporting exhibitions. Noncontroversial, nonpolitical -- unless you consider a very vague pro-America stance to be "political." Which only terrorists and Marxist revolutionaries consider to be "political."

It's gone now, of course. I understand its assets have been sold to a Marxist, racist, anti-family organization called BLM.

18 My brother and his wife rescued a golden eagle that got tangled in fishing line when the Blanco River flooded a few years ago. He said it was securely tied and could not get loose but as he held it in a towel while his wife drove, he could feel its strength and see its scary eyes and he could not wait to get to the vet's office and turn it over to someone who knew what they were doing.

Did they think being regarded as predators was something special?

Agree. Part of the noir-ish element is that the protagonists aren't the good guys, and the dames are hard-bitten.

Neat to see the nice mom from "Jericho", Pamela Reed, as the hooker with a heart of steel.

50 Newsweek reports SFC Cashe to receive MoH soon
https://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=115687
___

It was on October 17th, 2005, that SFC Alwyn Cashe would do something very few men would ever have the bravery, dedication, and self-sacrifice to do.

While on a "routine" patrol, a column of Bradleys was hit by a roadside bomb. The bomb directly hit the fighting vehicle Cashe was riding in, where he was serving as the gunner. The explosion hit the vehicle so hard it knocked all the infantrymen in the protected confines unconscious and ruptured the fuel tank, which exploded into fire like napalm.

66 The platoon sergeant's only comfort was that his actions had allowed some of his troops time to say goodbye to their families. Likewise, Cashe was able to speak with his family.
Naturally, they asked why he'd run headlong into danger time and again, virtually ensuring his own death. He said, "I had made peace with my God, but I didn't know if my men had yet."

Alwyn Cashe died of his injuries. As he was the last one out of the Bradley, having brought all his men out, so too was he the last one from that battle to head to his eternal reward. He was the final fatal casualty of the day's carnage.

201 Translate to English -- it does reasonably well. Anyway, Pfizer vaccine (which Israel used near exclusively, I think) efficacy has dropped to 39% against infection by the dreaded delta variant.

However, they claim it is still 91% at preventing "serious infection". (But they warn the sample there is small, *because they're aren't too many cases*

209 Thomas Bender, that sounds great. I have some blood orange infused white balsamic vinegar, really need to use it up, plus it's good.

Tonight will be an old stand-by, chicken marinated in lemon juice from the yard, with black pepper and olive oil, grilled, then chopped up in gnocchi with some pesto from home-grown basil (frozen since last year).

Damn basil. Every year is wildly different - even though same soil, same location, same conditions. I still have frozen pesto from last year's banner crop, but barely enough to make basil lemonade by now, late July.

It's a measure of how far gone things are that just today, I allowed myself to check in a few old online haunts, to find some non-stupid people who aren't the problem who just *now* are finally talking about how there is no basis for masks. Yep, the next atrocity is them going after our children.

When they made public the goal of getting 70 plus pct of the US vaccinated, that meant they would need around 90 plus pct of the adult population vaccinated.

They were never going to achieve that with adults alone.

Plus the evil fucks at the UFT don't want to go back to work so they are demanding masking in schools and pushing to lower the vaccination age.

300 Recalls are funny animals, mostly due to a strange and unpredictable electorate showing up. Not like normal elections.

While I still give the idiot Newsom a 75% chance of surviving, that may diminish. Various X factors may come together to produce that weird electorate that does him in.

Remember, it's a 2-part thing. First question is black/white, yes/no - recall current incumbent, or nay? He needs 50% + 1 vote to survive. Second question (moot if first question doesn't unseat the incumbent) is separate - who to replace him?

LA is going Totally Stupid on C19 (again). The local DA faces a recall effort, and he may well lose (another "Soros" DA) - but the key is he may draw people to the polls who are *also* more likely to vote down Gavin. LA is obviously key, biggest city/metroplex in the state. You get enough X factors going into a recall, anything can happen.

Yesterday, I read this piece by an imminent German immunologist that just ripped the whole response to shreds. It was dripping with sarcasm against the likes of Fauci and others.

He points out something I've seen referenced and read some papers on. Did you know that about 80% of the population had resistance to the Covid virus from the get-go? It was not a "novel virus" in the sense that there was no immunity in the population.

That meant that Neil Ferguson's doomsday projections were flawed from the get-go. The Diamond Princes confirmed this 80% resistance thing. You remember that cruise ship early in the outbreak? Did nothing like the SIR models would predict for a truly novel virus.

And studies have confirmed this. About 80% of the population has *memory immune response* to this virus. It's cross-reactivity from other cornaviruses we are exposed to all the time (that cause mild colds and shit).

On the Diamond Princes, you had people (couples) locked in their cabins together. One would get infected, the other wouldn't. Early cases amongst the very vulnerable would show things like elderly husband and wife. Wife gets it and dies, but husband doesn't even get the sniffles.

This was that 80% pre-existing immunity to it. This is hard data, mind you. Confirmed shit.

At most only about 20% of the population was truly susceptible to serious infection by this stupid thing.

The original shutdown occurred because 100% of the population was at risk - there was a moment where things were looking dodgy - that created a window of opportunity for the Uniparty bastards to seize control which they did.

Now, because of vaccines and natural immunity, we are close or at herd immunity. The delta variant is an excuse to keep playing same record - even the NYT says DV infects the unprotected 97% of the time. Were I live we are at about 80% protected, we are done, but our Mayor just enacted a rule you have to cough up a vaccine card to enter the council chambers without a mask. I wonder if that's a data point for my "Two Viruses" hobby horse....

COVID 19 is really just a garden variety nothingburger, but there was a second virus (or maybe SARS-CoV2 was the second virus) that was incredibly nasty and just ruins your whole respiratory system, but doesn't spread very aggressively.

I truly have no fucking idea what i'm talking about... i've just had a hunch since April 2020 that something like that is going on. Nothing adds up if you think this is all just one virus that can't make up its mind as to how it acts.

They are trying their damnedest to shut down any real doctors with expertise from talking about this.

360 This is going to be the biggest public health disaster in human history. Our elites have sown the wind, and now we're gonna reap the whirlwind.

Study the Spanish Flu. The Fe'ral Government had its own version of Fauci who also practiced Lysenkoism needlessly killing hundreds of thousands of people. It took Rockefeller to underwrite a private team to come up with the cure.

Then skip forward to the 1957 Asian Flu Pandemic. Eisenhower's administration came up with a vaccine much faster than the so-called "Trump" vaccine, and it was a true vaccine. Eisenhower thought it best not to create a panic and his popularity polls plunged because the government wasn't "Doing Something".

We don't hear much of the 57 Flu because the correct course was the one where we buried the dead, treated the ill and lived our lives.

Another stupid thing is this spike-protein only immunity from all the vaccines. All of them to date, target only the spike proteins.

Now, look at natural immunity gained from actual infection. It looks nothing like that. I was reading a paper about that, linked by someone talking about this shit. Natural immunity, the signatures of pieces of virus your immune system remembers, responds mostly to other pieces of the virus. Many pieces.

The spike protein isn't paid much attention to, it's only a tiny percentage of that signature package. There's a reason for this that has to do with how coronaviruses behave.

Our immune systems have evolved against such threats for millennia. Mother's nature school of hard knocks. It knows a thing or two. And it doesn't play much attention to cornavirus spike proteins.

Why? They mutate so fast it's of no use. Our immune systems concentrate on the "conserved" pieces of the virus, the ones that don't mutate.

434 426 - There were quite a few issues in early movies, I read of one Biblical one where they flooded the set and only then did someone wonder how the extras would get out of the blast of water.

---
Maybe the production team ran out of money.

They did, and left a larger than life size version of Babylon in the fringes of Los Angeles for years and years because of how hard it would be to tear down.

437 There were reports yesterday that Texas and Oklahoma were making inquiries about leaving the Big 12 and joining the SEC. None of the people who would know either confirmed or denied it.

A report today says both schools will decline next week to renew their media contracts with the Big 12 for the 2021 season.

If that's true, then they're probably jumping ship. In the world of college sports, this is YUGE.

438 Nearsider had a see-gar earlier myself. Sun tea with some home-grown lemon in it, nothing alcoholic.

Gotta check again to see if the f***ing rink has any idea when pick-ups will resume. They've restarted adult leagues, but say they have a labor problem (!!!) and so no day-time pick-up yet. This is the longest time off the ice, save one period overseas, since I was in my 20s.

The Charlotte area is mostly unchanged. Lots of attitude and unpleasant and sadly predictable cultural tendencies the closer you get to downtown.

So yeah, pretty normal.

After the last remake lost tens, if not over a hundred million I doubt anyone is going to be looking to remake the film anytime soon.

I watched a documentary about that. You have to love this stuff at some point - build Babylon and simply walk away from it. Today if you don't wear a mask you get to face a swat team take down. Progress...

I was reading something about it earlier. Big money in it for the SEC, but I'd be surprised if it goes through. Unless Saban can work it out so that it's an all-SEC schedule every year from here on out.

At which point the SEC will be putting 3/4 of the teams in the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if the culling of the crap teams at the bottom of the conferences - yes, even the SEC - has begun and the reduction in the size of the football programs outside a few winners is beginning.

After all, if you are paying the players, no sense wasting weeks with a bunch of patsies.

Well no, unless they change the rules since somebody will have to lose those head to heads. We may be back to the bad old days of Bringham Young getting #1 because they played nobody.

No, the committee can put anyone they want into the playoffs. And have, repeatedly.

458 Pretty soon we'll have Ohio State and Clemson asking to join, and then we can just separate the division into National Championship I (SEC teams and a couple of good teams from the easier conferences that are now SEC teams even if the name changes) and the Errybody Else National Championship II

Hey man, ain't you the brother with the two horse chariot
with the turnpike skirts and the chrome reverse wheels
white wall tires and lights under the skirts painted lime green with reversible license plates
windows you can see out, can't nobody see in,
With four on the floor, 745 horsepower and a big stereo
Listening to Wolfman Jack say, "Ain't this X E R B, baby"

Sorry, Mr. Mahal.

That would be fun to watch.
