A journalist has said what many of us have been suspecting for some time now: that governments -- in this case the British government specifically -- will have to start forcing people to eat less red meat if it is to meet its ambitious climate change targets. Christopher Snowdon, who heads the Lifestyle Economics unit at London's Institute of Economic Affairs, was appearing on the newly launched GB News network when he uttered the words many of us have been waiting to hear spoken openly. 'The political reality is that Boris Johnson is going to have to stop advising people to fly less and eat less red meat and find ways of forcing people,' Snowdon said. When her colleagues started a walking challenge, Roxanne Mullenberg decided to participate. At the time, it seemed like the medication for her under-active thyroid was finally working correctly and she wanted to cultivate healthy behaviors to try to lose some weight. When she started the step challenge in February 2020, she weighed 358 pounds. "I tried different things as far as trying to better my own habits," Mullenberg, 42, an assistant vice president and project manager at a bank in Fargo, North Dakota, told TODAY. "I was like, 'This will be great for me. I'll start doing this. It'll give me a different motivation, a different challenge and accountability.'" ... A month into her step challenge, COVID-19 caused the country to shut down and her life changed dramatically. Suddenly, Mullenberg was working from home and helping her son, Ryan, 11, with home school. Exercise then gave her a chance to reflect and she found herself walking even further. "The walks became such a good mental break and stress release," she said. "It became both a physical and mental benefit when I would do the walks, which was great. Then I'd bring my child out and obviously we'd both have these fun adventures roaming around parks." Mullenberg was walking three miles but soon increased it to four. As she began feeling better with the increased activity, she noticed she wasn't losing weight and decided to examine her eating habits.And then she threw some dieting into the mix. She also had a thyroid that wasn't working right and got medication for that. Still: 149 pounds since February 2020. That's a ton. I've continued walking six days a week, usually from 3 to 5 miles. My GAINZZZ improved this past week. I lost about three pounds. Not bad. What about yo' GAINZZZ? Any READINGZZZ? PROJECTZZZ? PLANZZZ?

I feel that lady on the thyroid problems. Getting the meds right can be quite a challenge as we often need "numbers" that are in a different part of the normal range and not all doctors will work with us. She's awesome! And getting the meds right will often lead to stuff like this as we remember a time when energy was real and not fleeting.
I started a boot camp workout in May and have noticed good Gainzz as far as strength increases and size decreases. It's funny how everything BUT the number on the scale can change when you're 29. *eyeroll*

A district court judge in TX (Andrew Hanen) has ruled that Obama's unconstitutional DACA program is . . . unconstitutional.
The judge has also issued a nationwide injunction requiring all federal agencies to stop administering the illegal program. LOL.
Count-down to how long it takes Dims to demand that SCOTUS rein in these district court judges who like to issue nationwide injunctions. (It was totes cool when Hawaii judges did it to Trump, but Biden is noble and pure and good, and thwarting his illegalities is just wrong!)

My GAINZZ plateaued a few weeks ago at 11 pounds. The only thing I'm doing differently since then is walking more.

If you're screening PSA is high you need a free and total PSA, the high sensitivity panel, to see where you're at and then you may get to ride the silver needle for a biopsy... Do not delay, prostate cancer really can metastasize...

Thyroid problems usually only make a 20-lb difference or so. It's part of why it tends to be tough to get a doctor to listen to your complaints. Far too many blame depression, when depression is a symptom of low thyroid. I wish I had less information about this malady.

Yeah, I have no baseline. It's below 20 But the high number didn't sound good. No other symptoms and the exam was perfect. Kinda shocked to hear it. Another test and MRI is next I guess.

My gainzz are not personal, but interpersonal. My mom, nearly dead 4 months ago, has embraced the philosophy of exercise or die. Because she ignored this truth to the point of death.
Now, after weeks in the hospital ICU, etc etc etc, is working out daily. And now can operate without a cane even. It's quite remarkable.

I'm generally one polite guy but long ago when we had our first kiddo. I was in Target with the little tyke enjoying shopping with him in the cart, bothering no one, when I stopped on the disposable diaper aisle to get some Huggies and this fat, old Karen came rushing up to me and literally started scolding me over the disposables cuz I was "killing the planet".
It made me incredibly angry. so, I unloaded a very terse, highly insulting, incredibly pornographic remark to her eye to eye, which made her turn bright red, drop her mouth open, and she turned and hurried (waddled) away as fast as she could.
It happened before I even thought about it. And I didn't feel guilty at all. I figured I rendered a public service. And peacefully went back to my shopping with my kid.

Uncontrolled thyroid disease can be responsible for way more than 20 lb as well as quite a few other serious problems. It's the thermostat on your furnace and controls the speeding up or slowing down, so to speak of many endocrine cascades and secondary organ functions.

Wife and I bought a treadmill back in December. I was pretty good at first about using it first thing in the morning but I fell off the wagon pretty bad. I just feel like absolute shit when I wake up and just want to do nothing other than put on my nice robe and go downstairs and brew up come coffee.
I'm 6'6" and about 280. I need to be down to about 230 with my current muscle mass or 250 with increased muscle. I just have no motivation to do it whatsoever. Exercise f*cking sucks. I hate it. I feel like absolute garbage after I work out, always have - even when I was in fighting shape.

I do a very high intensity workout every day. Did it the morning before the test. Things like 450 crunches, etc. I'm reading that could be a factor. I have no idea.

My old man just went through the whole prostate cancer thing. The hormones were the killer... the radiation also exacerbated his heart issue so now he's been diagnosed with heart failure. It's ok because Dad is one tough SOB. Toughest guy I've ever known. Only man I've known to fall off the roof of a barn, get up and say "well that wasn't f*cking ideal." Of course he's also the only man I know whose fallen off a barn roof.

Post op Day 1 on total hip.
Done outpatient. Walked on surgery day.
Today graduated from walker to cane.
Handweights at my desk to keep from getting too soft in the upper body until the lower can catch up.
Will be putting the bike on a stand for aerobic workouts next week.
Plan is to be back on the BJJ mats doing controlled stuff in 2-3 months.
I waited too long for this and have been hobbling around for a year with bone-on-bone and massive bone spurs. It already feels better in some ways than I have for the past year.
Modern medicine + staying active = Gainz bra.

To maximize your walking, do some light weight lifting before you walk. Some simple goblet squats, other dumbbell exercises, and some pushups or something for like 10-15 minutes before you walk will make your walks pay off much more for weight loss. You don't even have to do full on sets or anything either.

The docs will probably want to run another PSA test in a month, and compare the numbers.
Unless this current test is higher than 10, don't let them do a biopsy. Make them get another reading in 30 days.

I can run all day doing something competitive but last about five minutes on a treadmill. Same story for mountain biking and an exercise bike.
On that note I had an idea for interactive exercise bike that goes beyond the cheerleading trainers. How about a screen that has you being chased by a bear or a knife wielding maniac or biking through an active war zone. That would be fun.

Read the BRCC interview and it was like 4 quotes and 40 paragraphs of the NYTs opinions about people. They didn't really say anything too controversial but their words were used to continue the portrayal of people on the right as being racist rednecks who are bigots. Stereotypes that BRCC founders believe to some extent because they think these people exist but are too stupid to realize that the NYT thinks everyone on the right is this.

High teens. They want to do more blood tests and an MRI. See where that is and then maybe a biopsy. I'm not keen on the biopsy as I've heard some downsides as to whether it's transperineal, etc. any thoughts?

If a biopsy is in the cards go trans-rectal. I had a procedure (related to my PCa) that went trans-perineal...I would not wish that approach on my worst enemy. Of course it they knock you out first, then go for it.
The TR biopsy was actually pretty painless. They gave me one Valium prior to the procedure and that was that.
If they give you antibiotics post biopsy, don't let them give you Fluoroquinolones...those can cause tendon ruptures after the fact. There are other options available from the pharmacy.

Gainzz not happening until I increase serious exercise to 5-6 times a week. Still no hockey, though there may be some ice time available. Kind of hot for blading at the only place one can get much of a workout. Swimming twice a week, should be 3 unless I get back to other stuff. And have to increase to 2.5K yards and a faster pace. Biking remains difficult because only pleasant (heat-wise) place to ride is the coast, with its summer traffic, and drivers are so dangerous only a few routes anywhere are acceptable (have to stay on dead/empty roads/streets as much as possible).
Mixed-weight high intensity workout classes that ended with shutdown turned out to be a key thing, I think. Haven't even checked, but only a zero "policy" environment at a gym is acceptable (no idiotic masks, no ineffective/irrelevant "mitigation" nonsense, period).

We were shooting what was called Zone 2 propellant on out 8 inch artillery pieces. This was a nasty pripellant. It created the right amount of shock and stress on the gun to fuck up everything. I was the Safety Officer. The Battery XO was on the gun to ensure everything was right.

Started weight lifting with one of my sons two weeks ago. My first objective is the cessation of aching pain the day after each session. I am getting close. The next aim will be to *slowly* increase the weight. I have no interest in having a 55 yr old body blow out a joint or muscle.

PROJECTZ: Getting better with the violin, and going for another sailing class this weekend.

My issue turned out to be something else but mayo treated me right. Operation was actually much less than in my nearby metro area. PSA is mainly measuring inflammation if I remember correctly so vigorous exercise could raise it, dunno how much. Uti also raise it plus being scoped.

Today at lunch I had a 2 mojitos, a brandy Alexander, red snapper, baked potato and an ice cream pecan ball. I am stuffed. I usually walk 6 miles a day, tomorrow I am going to have to do at least 10.

215 My issue turned out to be something else but mayo treated me right. Operation was actually much less than in my nearby metro area. PSA is mainly measuring inflammation if I remember correctly so vigorous exercise could raise it, dunno how much. Uti also raise it plus being scoped.

So I did, and told them to get the fuck out of my life and never return. And that Biden stole the election, that 1/6 was a peaceful protest of that theft, that China's CCP delivered us the virus.

I failed a 6 plate deadlift PR today. I could not locked it out. The video evidence is conclusive. I will have to take a week off at least to recover from that battle and only do stretching, body weight, and yoga.
gf is paying for couples massages tomorrow and cooking my favorite dinner tho. Steak and eggs.

Big secret in the fitness and weight loss female dominated area is that Anavar is widely used. It is about impossible to find now. gf went to order some last night, and all the reputable places are sold out. She will take it for 6-8 weeks in very low does and then take DHEA for 8-10 weeks.
That shit will make fat melt off a woman in all the right places, build lean muscle without making women turn into a dude, and it won't reduce breast size and natural curves. And sex drive and orgasm intensity goes through the roof.
