The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“We do not have racism in our DNA in this country. We love each other,” Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD)

Quote II

“It is time we come together and we unite behind reducing gun violence in the city of Oakland. There are people in our community who don’t feel safe. There are seniors in our community who cannot come out at night. There are young, African-American men and Latino men that are at risk in our city. We have to come together; this is not about politics, this is about saving lives.” Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong

Quote III

“A lot of artists now are writing songs at home, recording them at home and putting them out within weeks. But our process is the old-fashioned way, and it does take a lot of time. So I don't know, but I am optimistic. And I'm certainly full of ideas.”Who guitarist Pete Townshend

Did he think he would make it to 76?

Quote IV

The old believe everything, the middle-aged suspect everything, and the young know everything. Oscar Wilde

Quote V

“I’m here because of hunger, because there’s no medicine, because of power cuts—because there’s a lack of everything. I want a total change: a change of government, multiparty elections, and the end of communism,”Unidentified Cuban resident

I'm not a carpenter. But, I do enjoy building projects. However, recently instead of building shelves I purchased a heavy-duty plastic unit. Why? I refuse to pay $1.00+ per foot for a 2"x4" and $100 a sheet for 1/2"OSB.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for lumber prices over the last year – and it's drawn outsize attention from the aisles of Home Depot to the Federal Reserve.

Lumber prices surged to record highs this year on the back of booming demand from homebuilders and do-it-yourselfers with plenty of time on their hands. The price surge was so big and sudden, it became a symbol of what some economists feared: rampant inflation.

But over the past two months, lumber prices have been dropping equally fast, giving weight to the central bank's argument that pandemic price spikes for many products are likely to be temporary.

That's not the end of the story, however. Lumber prices may have fallen, but they are still elevated, creating new headaches for the critical housing sector. And companies in the lumber industry are wrestling with a new pandemic problem: a shortage of workers.

Here are three things that the rise, fall and now volatility of lumber prices tell us about the pandemic economy.

Unfortunately I have to purchase 3 treated 2"x4"x8' in the very near future. Wonder if I need a loan?

Following up on Quote V, Why won't The Sunsetting Paste Eater denounce communism?

As Americans, we should be cheering on Cuba as a country, so it’s a bit odd to see Democrats and our own media twisting the situation in various ways to make it seem less like a desire for freedom and more about anything else.

Let’s get one thing straight about the Cuban protests. This is 110 percent about an end to communism. They don’t like it. They don’t want it. They want something better, and the fact that you see a few American flags being waved during these protests gives you a pretty solid idea as to what they want.

Legos are "evidence" of dastardly evil.

Legos an evil? Not really. But then again the DOJ is an evil den of vipers.

However a shitton of emails between Anthony FauciFraudster is "Yawn" worthy.

Judicial Watch announced today that it received 301 pages of emails and other records from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) officials in connection with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, revealing significant collaborations and funding that began in 2014. These new records reveal that NIAID gave nine China-related grants to EcoHealth Alliance to research coronavirus emergence in bats and was the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) top issuer of grants to the Wuhan lab itself.

These records also include an email from the Vice Director of the Wuhan Lab asking an NIH official for help finding disinfectants for decontamination of airtight suits and indoor surfaces.

Additionally, a World Health Day announcement lists “successful activities” of the US-China collaboration that included “detailed surveillance throughout China and in other countries on the emergence of coronaviruses” and NIH’s receipt of influenza samples from China to “assess risks associated with emerging variants for pandemic and zoonotic threat.”

The records further show that, in 2018, Dr. Ping Chen, the NIAID Representative in China, learned of a “type of new flu vaccine using nano-technology from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology” and discovered that the Chinese had blocked all Internet links to reports on the new technology. This led Chen to write an urgent “night note” to US Government officials. The note said, “The intranasal nano-vaccine can target broad-spectrum flu viruses and induces robust immune responses.”

The documents also include a picture of the Wuhan facility building taken by Dr. Chen.

The documents were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for records of communications, contracts and agreements with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 1:21-cv-00696)). The lawsuit specifically sought records about NIH grants that benefitted the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The agency is only processing 300 pages records per month, which means it will take until the end of November for the records to be fully reviewed and released under FOIA.

And nothing will happen to that worthless Piece of Shit.

Karma or just an odd coincidence?

And one other thing. If you are going to pull a gun be prepared to use it. Oh you pulled a BB gun. Genius Award Winner worthy.

A New York man was arrested over the weekend for fatally shooting woman who made headlines for a quirky courtroom romance in 2012. That woman served on a jury and fell in love with the defendant then orchestrated a mistrial so the two could be together, an episode local news outlets noted when reporting the latest development on Monday.

Jonathan Rosario, 24, was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon by the NYPD Public Safety Unit for allegedly killing 29-year-old Katherine Diop and injuring her brother, 31-year-old Maurice Diop, last month following a June 16 argument in a Bronx deli.

According to a report from the New York Daily News, Diop and her brother were planning a cookout to celebrate their younger sister’s graduation and went out to purchase lighter fluid when the altercation occurred. Friends of Diop told the outlet that Maurice got into a fight with Rosario at the deli at approximately 9:30 p.m. During the dispute, Katherine allegedly pulled out a BB gun and started waiving it in the air before walking away. Moments later, Rosario allegedly fired, striking both siblings, the NYPD said. Maurice was hit in the arm and leg while Katherine was hit in the torso.

I don't see a problem. I see an opportunity for a gifted engineering team. 'Trouble in Alaska? Massive oil pipeline is threatened by thawing permafrost'

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline, one of the world’s largest oil pipelines, could be in danger.

Thawing permafrost threatens to undermine the supports holding up an elevated section of the pipeline, jeopardizing its structural integrity and raising the potential of an oil spill in a delicate and remote landscape.

The slope of permafrost where an 810-foot section of the pipeline is secured has started to shift as it thaws, causing several of the braces holding up the pipeline to twist and bend.

This appears to be the first instance that pipeline supports have been damaged by “slope creep” caused by thawing permafrost, records and interviews with officials involved with managing the pipeline show.

In response, the Alaska Department of Natural Resources has approved the use of about 100 thermosyphons — tubes that suck heat out of permafrost — to keep the frozen slope in place and prevent further damage to the pipeline’s support structure.

The Greenies will howl get rid of fossil fuel. Bring on the lithium batteries!!!

One of the United States' first major forays into lithium mining seems like it's going to be in the Salton Sea—one of the most polluted places in the country—after General Motors struck a deal with a mining company called Controlled Thermal Resources.

This is a big, and potentially very complicated, deal for anyone who cares about the planet. Many experts believe that in order to have any hope of staving off climate change, we have to electrify cars and essentially everything else as soon as possible (ideally, yesterday).

Lithium-ion batteries are key to this process, and global demand is expected to increase between 5 and 18 times over the next several years. Put simply, we will need a lot of lithium, and the overwhelming majority of lithium in today's batteries comes from Australia, Chile, China, and Argentina. But the American southwest has huge stores of lithium as well.

General Motors is hoping that a CTR mine in the Salton Sea can supply “a significant portion” of the lithium needed for its electric cars. It’s a step toward GM’s first-in-the-nation commitment to phasing gasoline-powered cars out of its production line by 2035—CTR is slated to start delivering lithium to the company by 2024, at which point the company will be well-poised to achieve this goal.

This is, potentially, a very good thing. But it's also complicated: Mining, broadly speaking, is environmentally destructive. Lithium mining is usually—but not always—less destructive than, say, strip mining. And the Salton Sea, an accidental reservoir near California vacation mainstays like Joshua Tree and Palm Springs, is one of the most polluted places on the planet due to decades of agricultural runoff. Environmentalists there worry that if the lake continues to dry up, toxic dust on its floor could go airborne and pollute the air between Phoenix and Los Angeles. The lake is understood to hold one of the nation’s largest lithium brine stores, capable of supplying up to 40 percent of global demand for the mineral, according to the California Energy Commission (CEC).

Well, this camping trip sucked.

More than 180 people will undergo treatment for rabies after potentially coming into contact with a rabid bat at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.

Last weekend, the zoo hosted multiple overnight campouts in the Scott Aquarium. On Sunday, a camper woke up to a wild bat near her head, according to a press release from the zoo.

The camper was examined by one of the zoo’s EMTs, who was unable to find any scratches or bite marks. An on-call vet advised that the camper contact her primary care physician to discuss the risk of possible rabies exposure because the bat flew away and could not be identified for testing.

Bill Cosby is an old man. He needs to walk into the sunset with Fat Albert. It appears that comedy establishments want him to enter permanent retirement.

Last week we reported that Bill Cosby, who was recently released from prison after his indecent assault conviction was overturned on a technicality, is planning a stand-up comedy tour. Cosby’s publicist Andrew Wyatt claimed that several comedy clubs and promotors “are open to the idea,” but today we know of at least one that isn’t: according to the New York Post, Cosby is not welcome at New York’s legendary Comedy Cellar.

Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman told the publication that he won’t allow Cosby to perform at his venue because “audiences wouldn’t support it.” Interestingly, however, Dworman has allowed other disgraced comedians to grace the stage after their own sexual misconduct scandals. In 2018, he allowed Aziz Ansari and Louis C.K. to perform at the Cellar. (He reportedly received death threats after allowing the latter to perform.)

When I did this to a younger brother I got in trouble. I wonder if American Airlines will be. Woman is duct taped to seat by American Airlines.

A TikTok video shows a woman duct-taped to her seat on an American Airlines flight after she reportedly attacked flight attendants and attempted to open the plane's front door.

The incident happened on American Airlines Flight 1774 that was traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday.

In the video, filmed by TikTok user @lol.ariee, an unidentified woman in first class can be seen with duct tape around her chest and mouth as she attempts to scream at passengers who are departing the plane after it landed.

One advantage of a 1998 Chevy 1500 SilveradoSimple repairs. Unlike Teslas.

The problem started after the rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model 3 struck some road debris which damaged the electric vehicle's cooling system. Underneath the car, a coolant line runs sideways along the tunnel where the front drive unit would normally sit and attaches to a nipple located on the battery pack. The debris struck the part and cracked the flange, resulting in coolant leaking from the battery pack.

After the vehicle was towed to a Tesla service center and inspected, the driver was told that he would need a completely new pack since the cracked part was molded into the existing one's outer shell. And because a Model 3's pack isn't serviceable at a standard Tesla service center, it can only be swapped out for another unit rather than be repaired.

To make matters worse, the owner's insurance policy didn't cover comprehensive claims from road debris, meaning he would be on his own to foot the five-figure repair bill.

RNC to air ad during MLB All-Star Game saying Dems 'stole' it from Atlanta
Game was set to take place at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, but MLB moved it Colorado

The Republican National Committee will air an ad during Tuesday night's Major League Baseball All-Star Game that claims political figures and corporations "lied" about Georgia's new voting law, which led to MLB moving the game from Atlanta to Denver.

The game was originally set to take place at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, but MLB moved it to the Colorado Rockies' Coors Field after Democrats, including President Biden, likened the law to Jim Crow. The RNC said it is putting seven figures into the ad buy.

MLB decided to move the game on April 2, 2021. Now the RNC comes out with their swinging for the fences ads on July 13th. Nice job fellas. Stop sending me your damn begging pleas.

Depetro allegedly told police his wife belittled him about his family and how she makes more money than he does.

I'm still trying to figure that one out. Apparently Ms Smith is accused of attempting to open the aircraft's outer door. Given that it is physically impossible to overcome the massive pressure differences that keep that door tightly shut, did the airline staff really believe someone with that Herculean strength would be confined with duct tape?

Or was that tape laced with Kryptonite?

Disease got a lot, but the Spanish also first tried working the native population on their plantations. Why go to all the trouble of importing people when you've already got a captive population? But they didn't have the physical stamina to survive that type of life. On Puerto Rico, for example, every last native American was dead within 50 years of its discovery. The Spaniards were the ones who started black slavery in the New World; they determined that they had the most useful combination of physical stamina and heat tolerance, which is why they imported so many.

294 Doing what the woman did was a federal crime. It is not for the flight attendants to determine whether or not the person is mentally ill; that is for a court. If she was high etc, then that is a mitigating factor in sentencing but not enough to prevent punishment.

So, the question is whether the restraint was designed to punish or whether it was to prevent a recurrence of the violent actions that disrupted the flight. Given that duct tape is not life threatening, available, and could restrain the passenger in the close quarters of the aircraft seating, I would argue that it was reasonable. Zip ties could cut off circulation or be worked loose and apparently no air marshal was on the flight to conduct an arrest.

Posted by: Reuben Hick at July 12, 2021 09:20 PM (+LCoQ)

It isn't specifically the pressure but the door is designed that after positive detent and altitude they can't be opened, yes it uses the pressure delta to do this, mostly. But trying to cycle it will screw majorly with the fitment and seals and have an effect on the door's future safety.

Aircraft mechanisms are made to work in a specific way. And there isn't a super effort to design to levels in great excess of standard handling/abuse loads. I'd predict loads for military aircraft where I'd assume the flight crew were jumping off the wing and doing monkey bar gymnastic maneuvers on the antenna. Because that's how you do it and for all I know they were doing awesome dismounts off the antennas. Commercial aviation doesn't go that far. To the reg, not much more. Unless a more conservative number is easier and it's a standard part, overdesigned, yada yada.

Never make these assumptions.

Ok, perhaps I should say: the Carthaginians were ok with going to war with the Romans twice.*

*although the second makes me wonder. In a lot of ways it was a personal vendetta against the romans for him. You have to figure after the list of battles topped off with Cannae, and then the Romans would still not give up, whether some in the Carthaginian government did not at that moment go 'If these guys ever get off the mat, we are completely fucked.'

First Punic is Sicily. A city that was captured by a group of mercs(?) Who had first asked for a Carthaginian garrison and then asked Rome for help after they got tired of the Carthaginians? Rome wanted a foothold on Sicily (they had just gone through a century of grain famines) and even though they had publicly put down a very similar rebellion (a merc band had seized a city on the peninsula- Rome marched in, crushed them, then had them publicly executed back at the city) they jumped in with both feet to help the guys on Sicily. What the hell was the name of the band?

It is interesting, but human sacrifice was pretty common everywhere. Somewhere along the line, the Romans stopped doing it or it was never a big thing to begin with (I seem to recall that one of their temples was consecrated by human sacrifice, but I cannot remember which. Jupiter Best and Greatest, maybe?)

The Romans were the ne plus ultra of 'Chauvinism.' Their way or the highway. So, if they did not like a practice, they started stamping it out.

399 It is interesting, but human sacrifice was pretty common everywhere.
Posted by: Aetius451AD at July 12, 2021 10:21 PM (csEWM)

Some kind of argue about if the Romans really did stop the human sacrifice or whether they just changed how it was done. You know, like the ritual strangling of the prisoners that were all just displayed in the Triumph they just held.

What's the mileage on the odometer?

Best guess from my Ford sellin' days, which includes your truck's vintage? Center carrier driveshaft bearing. I had the same problem on a '91 BMW 735il. And yes, it's a very speed-specific vibration, cause everything aft of the transmission's output shaft is directly related to the RPMs of the rear wheels, i.e. "speed."

Interesting idea. Maybe. That practice actually completely lost steam in the later years. Triumphs were still held, of course, but often they started settling the germanic/gothic/whatever tribes they defeated in depopulated border provinces (depopulated by disease or war. Well, you could monetize it by bolting on an array of dildos.

Seriously, does the vibration occur at all times in that speed range? Like when coasting down hill in Neutral? Does it occur in lower gears at the same engine RPM range at which it occurs in Drive?

You have to try to determine if the vibration is engine-related, driveline-related, or chassis related. Then proceed accordingly.

Well, I've been saying for years that America would be better with gladiators and dueling so this arrangement worked out rather well, I think.

Also, wine gods. The trouble with fascism isn't that they tried to revive Roman traditions, but that they chose the wrong set of traditions to revive. Gladiators and wine gods > geopolitical piracy and ethnic cleansing.

Yes, it does. It tells me the mechanic or shop are hack bastard(s) who likely failed to replace the Center Bearing while the shaft was out, 'cause it would've been dirt cheap n' easy to do so THEN, on a common failure part, even.

Yeah, full tire inspection (looking for tread separation, sidewall bubble, other damage), re-balance and rotate, and then it's strong odds that 1. the Carrier Bearing is Borked, or 2. Driveshaft needs to be re-aligned and balanced by ONLY a true Driveshaft Shop. Speed-Range Specific vibrations really do reduce down to a very few likelihoods.

I remember someone remarking: The Romans are one of the few people's in all of history who do not make a sympathetic, heroic and stirring legend for their founding mythos.

Romulus and his brother decide to found a city (after some beginning wackiness of their mother being murdered and them being left to die before being taken in by a farmer and his wife- who may have been a whore.)

Romulus kills his brother over the naming of said city.

Romulus throws open the doors of his new city to populate it with every castoff, criminal or psychotic who could find no where on the peninsula to live.

Romulus decides to steal women for his new city. Then fights a war against the nation they stole the women from.

Vibration is more pronounced in 3rd gear when accelerating. It is present at speed but less pronounced at varrious RPM's.

Like when coasting down hill in Neutral? Does it occur in lower gears at the same engine RPM range at which it occurs in Drive?

You have to try to determine if the vibration is engine-related, driveline-related, or chassis related. Then proceed accordingly.

Look under the truck, at that U joint they replaced. See that stamped, kinda flat lookin' plate of steel hanging down from the frame crossmember? The driveshaft runs through it at the bottom, usually just in front of that U joint. It has a bearing in it that supports the weight of the back-half of the front half of the driveshaft assembly. Front half is connected to the output shaft of the tranny. Rear half of the assembly moves with the rear axle, hence, the U joint. That support is the Center Carrier. And they should've replaced that bearing while they were in there.

You know, that is another bit of interesting anecdotes. A couple morons in Roman history tried to use gladiators to take over Rome the city (I can think of it happening twice, Marius and a late empire one. Nepotius? Nepot-something.) They did great against citizen or minor militia. In both cases, the legions were used and stomped them like a narc at a biker rally. Sulla and later... Constantius? Or Magnentius?

Shut up spell check, those are spelled right.

That's a bit rich I'd say, though if the guy was Italian maybe he thinks WWE fights aren't staged. The fighting was legit but it was typically until submission, not death, and while it's certainly possible that a gladiator troupe might throw a fight for some reason or other it does not appear to be the norm. Of course, when two scantily clad guys are having a sword fight the threat of death is very real, but it wasn't the goal.

Also, there were referees with long sticks to ensure that thing stayed fair and to intervene if the fight starts going too badly.

Even lightly worn tires will create an out of balance condition.
I have my tires rotated and spin balanced quarterly.
Also, my mechanic recommended only Ford parts. He's a privateer and the best I've ever met. Trained by Ford.
The weight of these heavy vehicles create exponential wear on most running gear.
I also recommend your new mechanic torque the exhaust manifold bolts with every oil change. They are a chronic issue with these motors.

I have yet to balance my driveline as spin balancing the tires has always cleared the problem.

That being said, every truck is different.

Speaking of the lightning strike risk, note that 1/500K figure is per year. Over a lifetime, and in the geographically more lightning prone areas, IIRC, that risk rises to as high as 1/20K.

Men are more likely to be struck as well as as younger people. Outdoors more, and more risk taking most likely.

627 Well to be fair, you've got to think of the pilots. I mean, with that specimen in the back, they could be quite distracted. They'd probably offer to let her ride up front and sit in their laps and let her try to fly the plane or something.
Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion (Mzdiz) at July 12, 2021 11:57 PM (Mzdiz)

That would have been true years ago. Now the pilots are just as likely to be women, trannies, gheys, or other affirmative action hires

A few weeks ago American was forced to cancel over 300 flights due to pilot shortages, pilot sick-outs, and maintenance issues.

Last week all the passengers on an American Airlines flight from LAX to Miami were forced to spend the last hour of the flight with their hands on their heads, told not to take pictures or video because one male passenger was deemed a "security threat" (probably visited DC in January). The passengers were herded to a terminal and detained until the plane was inspected by authorities.

630 publius.

2nd worst sick I ever sickced was a flu shot 'bout mid '90s.

1st sick was actual pneumonia, 11th grade. Decked me for two solid weeks during the school year, and no way I could do the "sent home" work. Not as sick, but similar fatigue? Covid, April. Got the HCQ, Ivermectin and Zpak. Turned all symptoms but one around, in a day. The one not turned around was two weeks of horizontal fatigue. I could not sit in a recliner and watch TV. Layed down, head on a pillow, I could. It was like that.

642 >> Thought that study of flu vax was using british NHS data

Yes. I typed NIH when I meant NHS. The problem with a lot of the observational studies that show benefit from the flu shots in the elderly is bias and confounding, which is hard to pin down and eliminate.

The NHS data provided a perfect opportuning for "discontinuity regression". The NHS prioritizes flu shots for the 65+ crowd, and starts giving them out routinely at that age. So that makes for a big jump in vaccination rates at age 65. And since the NHS is socialized single provider, they have the data for everybody in one place. You don't miss too many.

So, you look at those just under the cut-off vs those just over. If the flu shots were effective, you'd expect to see an effect right there. A dip in hospitalizations and deaths. A little discontinuity there to match the vaccination discontinuity.

That effect isn't seen at all. And that's a pretty big data set they have there.

644 Very surprised and saddened to hear that naval historian James Hornfischer has passed away (sometime fairly recently). He wasn't very old.

Years back a Moron in TX whose nic I forget recounted how he'd emailed Hornfischer about one of his books, which resulted in having lunch with the author when he was in his AO.

For those with an interest in WWII naval history, highly recommend Neptune's Inferno (about the naval engagements around Guadalcanal), and Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors (about the epic engagement with a vastly superior Japanese formation off Samar Island in the Philippines).

It was alluded to by some analysts I was following for C19 purposes. I thought I recalled that as the data had grown over time, the apparent value of the flu shot had steadily eroded.

Sorry, but I was dead wrong about the meaning of that relative risk number. I go to plugging in numbers for really low risk groups (ie 20 yrs old, lean mean sex machine). That is the ratio of your risk to the general population average.

What threw me was I assuming that my risk had to be higher (RA, less than ideal BMI, smoking history) than the average. Well, that mean risk is skewed heavily by the elderly, lard asses, etc.

My risk, even with all those factors is still only 17% of the population wide mean.

I wasn't an ass to people, but I learned the rules/standards and knew everything I needed to know forward and back (like teaching myself the polar shift artillery method), and I had an expectation that others would likewise. BUT, I was a team player and when one cadet -- who was an utter dick to me -- had his turn to lead our platoon during advanced camp field maneuvers and had never given an operations order before, as the platoon sergeant, I talked him through it and he did a fine job (though he never thanked me). During evals, the MAJ in charge of my platoon told me that I'd make a better NCO than officer. I took that as a compliment actually. For better or worse, I was rated average and did not receive an active duty commission. I did get jump wings though (Saddam invaded Kuwait while i was at airborne school), which looked hella spiffy when I got back from Summer break for my 4th year.

695 polar plot is simple, assuming you know where you are... of course, if you have a map, and can read it accurately, there's no reason you can't generate a fairly good grid for your target... unless you're on an oversized pool table piece of land.

710 Most aviators of all stripes are officers. The Army has Warrant
Officers that fly helicopters as well, but other than that, in the Air
Force, Navy, and Marines, the pilots are officers.

For
sure there are officers that push paper, in the end they all end up
doing that unless they are of a very few who retain direct command. But a
Lieutenant or Captain in the Infantry is mostly on the ground leading
men. Wars change as the technology of war changes. I would say if you
were on the front lines in the Civil War, the last thing you would want
to be is an officer if you didn't want to get shot. That goes even more
for the Confederates as their culture demanded the officer leads the
attack.

I'm attributing it's decline to being pushed to eat healthier and exercise

I will look into it but I don't doubt it. Most officers and historians will tell you that an army relies mostly on NCO's. But this can go too far. Anyone who thinks officers have not paid a price, is wrong.

so i had a serious issue the other day that involved the bathroom. I didn't feel sick, but something was seriously off. It was about as bad as you can imagine other than I didn't feel that bad. I thought that is might be food poisoning and wondered about what I ate. I kept wondering about it and finally a light bulb popped over my head. I had purchased a box of chewing gum, flavored with Xylitol and to be honest, I chewed about 20 pieces that day.

I was happy to learn I did not have food poisoning, and it you take a too much Xylitol, well, the result is not rare.
