Unbelievable -- a Marine's car was stopped by Antifa/BLM terrorists with no right to arrest his movement nor to falsely imprison him, and even pointed an AR-15 at him to compel him to stop.

Andrea Jenkins, who represents Minneapolis' 8th Ward and identifies as the first Black openly transgender woman to be elected to office in the U.S., said in a statement Tuesday that it is also time to stop the holding of Black-owned businesses, the neighbors and residents of the neighborhood near George Floyd Square hostage more than a year after Floyd's death on May 25, 2020.I've said this before, but the Constitution guarantees citizens a "Republican form of government," and that means, among other things, that the law enforcement power of the state will be vested in law enforcement officers of the state -- not violent political revolutionaries and thuggish vigilantes with no legal right to detain or arrest or beat citizens. Even if those violent revolutionaries and vigilante-bandits are favored by the left as "Street Power." At that point, this is not a "republic;" it's just a banditocracy. And no one owes allegiance nor obedience to a banditocracy.

Oh, it's far worse than that. A true "banditocracy" would be essentially anarchic - law of the jungle. We don't have that, and our system isn't anarchic at all.
What we have is socialism. Not in total yet, but they're working on it, and this is part and parcel. Street warriors out there doing their business, either in opposition to or with the support of state agents. If it's in opposition to them, it looks very different from this. These guys have the cooperation and protection of the state.
It is only a matter of time before they permit open banditry, murder, checkpoints and zones of control within the cities. Then the real fun begins, when those guys suddenly - and very mysteriously, of course, and with no paper trail - find themselves with large weapons and pickup trucks to go maraud the old frontiers and extend the slaughter out.

If you live where antifa is known to operate, plan trips accordingly, so as to avoid driving into the middle of one of their mostly peaceful demonstrations.
Granted, it's possible to wind up driving into the middle of a rogue gang, but, from what I can tell, antifa scum operate within fairly clearly defined areas.

I dunno about that. Certainly not SF in 1970, but even LA (which had its own share of fruits, starting with Hollywood) was still somewhat conservative socially.
Bear in mind Reagan was governor in 1970, having been elected handily. He succeeded Edmund "Pat" Brown, who IIRC was only the third Democrat governor in state history, and who was a conservative Scoop Jackson type Democrat, when those still existed, and was a good governor.
Re social conservatism, bear in mind that just recently California voted - twice! - to make marriage be only between a man and a woman. That is, until a shirtlifter in a black muu-muu decided we'd gotten it wrong.
