Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Insurrection Cafe: This and That EditionVery cute video about a woman who trains a chipmunk to eat from her hand. It gets cuter later on when she starts feeding another chipmunk, and the first chipmunk, "Charlie," gets clearly jealous. I mean, the chipmunk refuses nuts from her even though she's pushing them into his mouth. He just refuses the nuts and deadeyes her. Eventually he takes them, after he's made the point. Also the girl is cute. Further, she wears Crocs, which indicates to me that she is sexually enlightened and understands that manhood is not determined by footwear choices. This otter is too cute. This dog has a very vigorous laying down protocol. I'm linking this Steve Inman video with a trigger warning: this is very painful and results in a bad injury. White Supremacist Q-Anon Insurrectionist brawl at Walmart.

>>> why aren't more women outraged by this freakshow shit? Posted by: DB- just DB (iTXRQ) at June 30, 2021 06:03 PM (iTXRQ) Females often respond positively to the biggest, most dominant, violent bully in an environment. Not all of them. Certainly not the ones that have more reason than chromosomal instinct like the superior specimens here. But many, many will. And the left is the monster they are surrendering to. A lot of the shift in society, and the great swaths of people dropping their masks and behaving in a cult-like manner is related to this. We haven't had a truly evil, massively powerful, worldwide force like today's left in many years. The left is announcing their presence to the world through their obvious and no longer veiled evil acts. And people are choosing sides. Posted by: banana Dream at June 30, 2021 06:23 PM (OV00c) 44

Biden is considering L.A.'s mayor Eric Garcetti for ambassador to India.
Mark Groubert compared this to President Truman making a Tammany Hall corrupt mayor ambassador to Mexico to avoid federal indictement. He said, "there's a guy under investigation in a big city today and one guy after another keeps rolling over and it's getting closer and closer to that mayor of this big city, and that mayor is italian. and his name is Garcetti and Garcetti has been given the golden ticket to India by another Democratic president." https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=aR0S-R3PQMU about 12m in. Years ago, I was driving downtown at night. A doper with a dopey look on his face attacked my 4Runner while I was stopped at a red light. He stood directly in front of my SUV and was pounding on the hood. I decided I wasn't going to wait for him to something even worse so I tuned a hard right and tried to ease past him but he clung on and was moving toward the driver's door. Then he wasn't and I felt a bump and stopped. Mrs. Wrecks jumped out and said I had parked on his leg. I eased off and called the cops. I saw his leg which clearly had the tread marks of my tire on it. The ambulance came, he got up and tried to run away. The cops came and knew him. They had no trouble believing my rather remarkable story. Anyway, I clearly ran over his leg but he still managed to shuffle away.

I used to have around 7 or 8 chip monks in the yard. Probably was more, but thats about as many as I saw at once. You feed them for a week and as soon as they hear that door open they would make a b line for the door. Smart little bastards. They would watch the squirrels bury stuff and then go dig it up when they left. The squirrels would climb the oak trees and bite off whole clusters of acorns, drop them to the ground, then go down the tree to retrieve them. Well, that was until the chip monks caught wind of it and started hauling them away before the squirrel could get them. Then the chip monks started climbing the trees, like way the hell up there and got their own acorns.

You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it...There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Relying on the British newspapers for actual news out of DC during the Obamanation was a stunning, but perfect, symptom of the national decline. For those who lived/participated in the Cold War, and knew the impact and nature of western broadcasting to those behind the Iron Curtain, the spectacle of Americans relying on foreign news sources for information about their own country was nauseating, but instructive.

$43 is easy to spend on Nigiri Sushi a la carte. They have some good places in DC or in the area. I was going to mention Sushi Ko but it looks like it is closed, over a "tax issue". That was one of the original places, one of the best in the country for obvious reasons. The obvious reason was the Japanese embassy was nearby, things just work out that way. The other one i went to way back when seems closed to. That place was as Japanese as you could get, even with the cramped tables for Americans. It was called Makota I believe. Boss Conkling had an upstate Republican machine in NY and pushed Teddy to become VP under McKinley to get him out of the state. California had the SoPac RR machine that reform Republican Hiram Johnson fought against but most political machines were Democrat, especially in urban areas and virtually all Republican city machines were well gone by the 1920's.

Sven, the Republican machine in Ohio had its roots with Garfield, later Mark Hanna putting McKinley in office which then led to Warren Harding. Industrialists including the Rockefellers with oil, railroad companies--Penn Central for example, and the rising steel industry, which centered on that area and wanted to fight rising pressures to unionize.
Roosevelt was never part of the NY Senator Conkling machine who was primarily there at the behest of financiers. In fact, Conkling wanted Roosevelt out of NY politics after he became governor due to his reform policies. At the time, NY also had a group of Dems that were proteges of Samuel Tilden that were fighting with Tammany Hall in NYC. So reform in NY was being fought internally with the Dems and Republican party organizations. Posted by: whig at June 30, 2021 07:23 PM (pO7gM) 273

TR had a defacto coalition that "was taken care of" in my opinion made up of donks and 'phants. The reason for this is the zenith and crossover of "progressivism" between the two parties. Essentially in the entire New England corridor, the bent was towards "enlightened interventionism" and the argument was no longer laissez-fare versus interventionism so much as "how deep the thrust." I sometimes wonder if America was ill-served by the NYC reformers on a long enough timeline. Posted by: sven at June 30, 2021 07:27 PM (Lzpvj) 287

blaster, I believe that the Republican state machine was created more or less by Carroll Campbell which exploited the new South light industry and service economy created in the upstate region of SC and the piedmont area versus the old Dem establishment centered on Charleston. Don Fowler and Riley were some of the last S. Dems that had statewide appeal along with Fritz Hollingsworth.
Graham inherited Strom's old political machine and a fair amount of Strom's staff which more or less relied on effective service work and patronage for South Carolinians. Posted by: whig at June 30, 2021 07:29 PM (pO7gM) 291

Posted by: EveR at June 30, 2021 06:43 PM (MUpk6) Most corporations have done away with the majority of these kinds of perks. ANYTHING you receive from your employer is now subject to reporting and taxes. I know a lot of people believe that all the top brass at every medium and large corporation has millions of dollars of perks given to them but it's not accurate at all. Maybe in 1955, but not today. Most companies no longer have "company cars". It's too expensive to maintain and purchase cars for execs, if they qualify for a car , it's done via a third party specialist who pays out a monthly fee given to the employee and that is reported to the IRS. Any insurance plan provided via the company for said exec is capped and any additional is reported as income to the exec so they can pay taxes on it. 282 La Guardia and his long tenure in NYC was the major weakening of Tammany. FDR often shafted Tammany in favor of La Guardia when showering NYC with fed dollars, partly because of hard feelings dating from FDR's turn as gov, and partly because a lot of FDR NY supporters were on the reform Dem side in NYC, not Tammany.
Coolidge was governor of Massachusetts before becoming VP and was notable in breaking a police strike in Boston. Don't remember any Tammany fights with Coolidge though it might be possible through Thomas Dewey's career rise. Posted by: whig at June 30, 2021 07:32 PM (pO7gM) 304

No, honestly, it's damned good. A little to the tart side on the "balanced" scale, but I prefer that; just a little herbal (Chartreuse) and minerally (grenadine), the warm spices are far in the background dominated by the citrus, and the rums have enough ball-hair to shine through. I'm not understanding the Trump Organization's tax troubles. Don't all those execs get company cars, time at corporate vacation homes, security, as perks? If we want to get picky, is DeBlasio reporting his? Seems to be one more attempt to shove the money guys out of NYC.
Posted by: EveR EveR, The fringe non-taxable era where corporations picked up all sorts of tabs was a byproduct of high marginal tax rates from WWII approaching 90 percent. By moving compensation to benefits like housing, a car, meals, etc., it lowered the effective tax rate on compensation to executives because companies wrote these expenses off under the IRS code of the time. Same thing on health insurance which originated with Kaiser Ship Yards--wage and price controls did not permit raises for workers but the feds did allow free health care to workers without taxation as it was not considered income. The move to executive compensation through stock instead of salary plus the overall lowering of tax rates on income and capital gains made the hassle dealing with the perks as Jen said above less necessary. blaster, I believe that the Republican state machine was created more or less by Carroll Campbell which exploited the new South light industry and service economy created in the upstate region of SC and the piedmont area versus the old Dem establishment centered on Charleston. Don Fowler and Riley were some of the last S. Dems that had statewide appeal along with Fritz Hollingsworth.
whig I don't disagree with this but I really put Lee Atwater at the head - sure he helped Campbell but also Strom and Spence. Exec summary: Patton (and Allen?) wanted airborne troops brought onto Sicily ASAP, as part of their effort to expand beach-head and offload supplies and personnel as quickly as possible. Paratroops had been part of initial invasion (didn't work out too well); this unit was just going to augment the combat power of the already-landed forces. They were to jump into a secured airfield area near Gela, the largest town taken by US forces on the southern Sicilian coast.
At night. C-47s, at night, of course, resembled Ju-88s. Ridgway feared friendly fire nightmare. Navy sort of agreed, said they could guarantee only that their warships - not the zillions of smaller craft present, with AA gungs - would be advised and would not fire on the US planes. Even Patton started to have 2nd thoughts, but it was too late - planes were already on the way. Around 90KIA, over a hundred wounded, dozens of planes lost or damaged. Outrageous disaster. Slapton Sands was a fiasco, with a much higher death toll, but at least it involved enemy action (German E-boats).
The Gela/airborne disaster was 100% friendly fire, that had been anticipated from the moment the order was given. 370 TC, Eisenhower was a product of the Army and while conservative personally, was comfortable with the progressive Dewey machine and its influential corporate sponsors more than the Senator Taft led Republicans. Dick Nixon was the sop to the anti-communists hardliners and also to the West Coast GOP. Warren got the Supreme Court as part of the deal. Ironically, it would have been amusing if Warren got the nod for VP and Nixon to Scotus.

Read about this event in "Sicily '43", a recent and well-done history of the Sicilian invasion. It's more of a popular than academic sort of history, but well sourced, with a British perspective. The prospects of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever-present and is gravely to be regarded. 408 Read about this event in "Sicily '43", a recent and well-done history of the Sicilian invasion. It's more of a popular than academic sort of history, but well sourced, with a British perspective. So there may well be more to the story, though I think the basic points - esp. that it was an utterly avoidable disaster - are there.

399 artemis, the problem with the Senate under McConnell is that it constrained who Trump could appoint for key positions. Note that his personnel in his wheelhouse of the economy were superb as were many of his regulatory agency appointees. But the appointees for the DOJ, DoD, and the IC communities looked to the Senate and not to Trump.
Note that the damning evidence that the GOPe senators were the problem is how easily Biden's appointees, even controversial ones, are flying through with scant GOP opposition. Trump often had to rely on temporary appointees and compromise candidates to fill offices or risk the leftist permanent staff running the departments. So, you have to look to if Trump fired Barr, who would take over the DOJ as interim officer. Grenell could only fill just so many agencies temporarily and on controversial decision, any interim vacancy act appointee action could simply be delayed by the permanent staff until the clock ran out. 407 TC, Slapton Sands was a pre DDAY exercise testing landing craft procedures on a beach similar to those in Normandy. Many of the participants were Bigots (aka in the know about the D Day invasion plans). Due to secrecy of the exercise, sufficient guard against Nazi E boats was not maintained and they got in to commit some mayhem sinking some critical LST (landing ship tanks) and causing hundreds of casualties made worse by the exercise conditions. The risk was that some of the missing might have been captured with the Nazis getting critical warning on the impending attack. The whole incident was classified top secret and families were not told the circumstances of the loss of their loved ones for quite a long time after.

Other thing last night from the book, sort of thing I love.
German crews of the only Tiger tanks on Sicily ended up in a farmhouse with US paratroopers. US guys were drinking wine, there were some wounded. Germans came to the house to get water for their tanks. Both sides decided not to shoot (this was at night, too). Americans asked permission to bring in medical assistance for their wounded, Germans agreed. Americans showed Germans the tactical situation, that they were now behind US lines and should probably surrender. Germans declined, blew up their Tigers and slinked off to their own lines in the dark. Amazing stuff. Posted by: rhomboid (OTzUX) at June 30, 2021 08:16 PM (OTzUX) 497

Huh, another crossing of streams (amphetamines). Also last night, read that the commander of the only (battered, weak) German fighter group in western Sicily (Jg 77), Steinhoff, was flying back from a visit to Sardinia (this was on D+1) and was so tired, thought he'd try the Pervitin his unit's doc had given him. He swallowed two. Doc grounded him for a day.

So people like Cerno and ace are anti-Semites and bigots and others who have been documenting this since Bannon and Kushner began to go at each other. This has been going on since 2017 and is well documented. Kushner is Soros-lite and far from America First. Labeling people bigots and anti-Semites because they disagree with Kushner's or Ivanka's or any globalist policies which have all but destroyed America post WWII do not win an argument. I think the thing that surprised me was that Trump was trying to set the parameters of a site--you have to admit it's a little strange--like if he'd said he'd only sign up if anyone who criticized him was banned. And--interestingly enough--he did sign up a few days ago on Rumble, which is a Canadian company who promptly changed their terms to disallow any anti Semitism/criticism of Israel. Posted by: runner at June 30, 2021 08:37 PM (V13WU) No. What I am saying is that you should not allow limits on free speech. Once you make the tiniest exception, you (collectively) are screwed. That is the entirety of my point, NOT whether or not you should go on a platform you dislike FOR WHATEVER FUCKING REASON. It does not matter if you think the platform is anti-semitic. It does not matter if you do not like it because you think Gab has a gay color theme. Personally, I just do not like the idea of twitter/gab style of commentary. Just me personally. I didn't like Jared's prison reform bill though agree we need reform but it should be color blind. I think he did great as a Middle East advisor. Trump did not take their advice on climate legislation if they offered it.

In regards to the FAA woke dickless request, FAA reg changes take forever, normally. Things that are important and life-threatening take forever and are handled by advisory circulars and issue papers etc.. in the meantime while the industry discusses the changes. There are mandatory periods of discussion and debate and different hierarchies of decisions that lead to an actual CFR change.
I guess will see how bad things have gotten if this woke shit goes through. It will require nearly the nation's entire aviation industry to fall in line for it to happen. Posted by: banana Dream at June 30, 2021 08:53 PM (OV00c) 632

Last time I saw anything like "Carolina Squat" it was on stock body drag racers in the early 60s. Power had completely outrun the tires at that point and the idea was to put as much weight as possible on the rear end for traction help. Then tires got better for racers at least and the rake went the other way for big rear tire clearance and aerodynamics
