The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

Hi, I'm back. I think.

First, thanks and a series of hat tips to Weasel, Buck Throckmorton and Misanthropic Humanitarian for filling in for me on the rant thread during my absence.

And thanks to all of you who have been praying for me and sending me their best wishes. For those of you who don't know, at the beginning of May, I lost my balance and fell on my right arm (the one with the artificial shoulder), which resulted in a massive hematoma. My forearm swelled up until it looked like Popeye's. So I had to have surgery to drain off the blood. I lost a lot of blood and my right hand suffered some nerve damage due to the swelling. Recovery took a while, but now, by the grace of God, I think I am strong enough to get back up on the AoSHQ horse.

While I was in the hospital, unable to sleep because they kept coming in pretty much every hour to do stuff that wasn't really necessary, I had lots of time to think about lots of things. And the more I thought, the more disheartened I grew about America.

Specifically, why aren't we fighting harder against the politicized pandemic?

This country was founded on the principle of telling government to f* right off. And we're not talking about some easy, consequence-free virtue signaling on social media, but rather, the government we were telling to f* right off belonged to what was arguably the most powerful country on the planet at that time. Their response was "F* us? No, f* *you* and we're sending our army over there to f* you up and what do you think about that?"

Our forefathers stepped up and put their money where their mouths were. They did not merely issue 'blistering dissents', but also blistering musket fire. George Washington didn't just run his mouth, but also guns across the Potomac. The Declaration of Independence was certainly 'stunning and brave', but so was honey-trapping the Hessian mercenaries and shooting them in the ass on Christmas night.

Because we're Americans. That's what we do.

That is, in order to back up our words, we had to fight a war.

So, along with mom and apple pie, telling government to f* right off is embedded deeply in the American DNA. And, in order to guarantee we'd always have the ability to do this, they included the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, our founding document, so our right to tell government to f* right off could not be taken away while we weren't looking. As the America-phile British commentator Katie Hopkins tells us:

You have the fight within you. Americans are different from Brits because you are built differently, your Constitution is hard-wired into your soul. If I cut you open, somewhere inside you is a visceral understanding that your right to life and liberty and happiness is God-given, and no man has the power to take those rights away.

Only now I think we sort of gave them away ourselves.

Here is how recently history should've gone:

When the Chinese flu first hit, and the federal government issued lockdown and quarantine mandates, we should've complied for public health reasons. We didn't really know what we were dealing with, how bad it could get, people were dying, etc., so giving the government the benefit of the doubt was probably the reasonable thing to do at the time. But that didn't last long. Within about, oh, I'd say, 2-3 months, it became obvious that something was rotten in Denmark: the pandemic had become politicized, and various governments at all 3 levels were using it to criminalize dissent and harass groups the ruling classes didn't like.

That should've triggered our American DNA.

What finally did it for me was reading about John Lewis' funeral. Remember that one? Everyone was packed cheek by jowl into the memorial service and all of the social distance rules were waived. And then progressives claimed that this was justified because "racism is a public health issue". And then it got worse:

In June, 1,200 “health experts” signed a letter approving the BLM protests because, it said, “white supremacy is a lethal public health issue.” But it cautioned that “this should not be confused with a permissive stance on…protests against stay-home orders.”

Yes, you read that right, some protests are public health hazards while others are just fine. And the difference is determined purely by politics. That's when I knew all of the lockdowns and quarantine rules had nothing to do with science or public health, but had become just another politicized scam to benefit groups favored by the ruling classes at the expense of others.

If you want to raise your blood pressure, go ahead and read the open letter. It's an infuriating abuse of logic so shameless that it would make a Jesuit blush.

And God bless Trump, but he wasn't a lot of help here. I think his germaphobia prevented him from seeing the WuFlu panic for what it was, namely, another weapon in the progressives' armory to prosecute their war against normal Americans. He allowed himself to be jerked around by that malignant little homunculus Anthony Fauci whom he should've fired in February of last year. For starters. Because if there's one thing Trump didn't do enough of, it's house-cleaning.

And it might even have cost him the election. This is ex post facto speculation, but if he had kicked Fauci under the bus early on and went full steam ahead with a "no lockdowns, no symptomless quarantining, take reasonable precautions if you're in a high risk group" approach, I wonder if that would have put him above the margin of cheat. Instead, he just sat there while Democrats rewrote the election laws on the fly, even during the actual vote-counting, all in the name of covid "safety".

I guess nobody's perfect.

But neither are the rest of us. It was hard to see how many us just bent right over and took it up the chute:

A little more than a year after Governor Gavin Newsom instituted the lockdowns, nearly a third of California restaurants have closed permanently.

According to The Associated Press, California’s lockdowns have left the food industry battered and bruised in the Golden State. Prior to the pandemic, up to 76,000 eating and drinking establishments employed up to 1.8 million people. Those numbers dropped precipitously as the lockdowns continued throughout 2020 and into 2021. Though the state has eased restrictions over the past few weeks, about two-third of the industry’s employees lost their jobs at least temporarily and employment remains a quarter below what had existed prior to the pandemic.

As more and more small businesses closed, never to reopen, why were there not many protests? Why did more small business owners not band together and defy the government's lockdown edicts? Why did they not tell government to f* right off? Even after it wa obvious. I got tired of seeing photos of signs on permanently shuttered businesses saying things such as "We're now closed, but thank everyone in this community for all your support over the years." What!? That's it? You mean you're going to let some government official issue an edict that shut your business down for good and your response is 'oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles'!? Where is the outrage? Where is the defiance? Where are the cries of "hey government, you can f* right off!", which is our our birthright as American citizens?

Have we turned into a bunch of wusses? Even the Europeans are making us look bad. This hasn't gotten a lot of coverage by the usual media outlets (who like to preen and puff themselves as "the guardians of democracy"), but there have been massive anti-lockdown protests in England, Belgium, France, and other European countries, and we're talking about hundreds of thousands of protestors. Europe! Not America! I can scarcely believe it.

So, there I was in the hospital at 3AM, thinking about all of this, and also the videos I saw of police arresting maskless protestors and other police retreating/running away from antifa/blm thugs, waiting for the next scheduled sleep interruption, and now I'm convinced that, if this were the 1930s and Biden was Hitler, half of Americans would be helping load the other half of Americans into the cattle cars, and the passengers would be thanking them for being polite about it.

Lastly, and I cannot emphasize this enough, a hospital is no place for a sick person.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com.

Prayer Requests:

5/4 – Annie’s Stew thanks God for a healthy baby girl for a sweet young family she knows, and successful treatment (so far) of brain cancer for the new dad.

5/12 – G. requests prayers for his blog partner and dear friend Maggie P., who is going to have open heart surgery on 5/18.
5/18 Update – Maggie came through surgery with flying colors, and they send thanks for the prayers.

5/21 – SB’s mother was just diagnosed with cancer; they will get the full results on Wednesday. He requests prayers for her and for his father.

5/21 – gp sends thanks to God for healing Jimmy D from Covid!

5/24 – Katya, the designated driver sends an update on her cancer treatments. She has finished her 33 rounds of radiation with minimal side effects and is starting to feel great. This week she stats a chemo pill for the next 4 months. She also will continue to receive Keytruda infusion treatments every 3 weeks. As far as she knows the cancer is gone but will not know for sure until she receives the final scan. She sends her thanks for the love and prayers.

6/1 – Tonypete asks for prayers for his lifelong friend who is approaching the end stages of ALS. For a myriad of reasons, the friend could use monumental amounts of prayer and petitions for his immortal soul.

For Healing:

4/3 - My life is insanity asks for prayers for peace of mind and healing for her sister, who just learned that her breast cancer from 6 years ago has spread to her spine. She has a small tumor at the base of her neck and a fracture in her lower back. She is waiting on a treatment plan and is unsure at this time what that will bring.
5/3 Update - Her sister sends her thanks for everyone's prayers, and this medical update. They no longer see a tumor on her neck, but there is a spot on her spine, and they have determined it is a reoccurrence of her breast cancer that has spread to the bone. They also see spots on her ribs and pelvic bones. She has had a vertebroplasty, but it hasn't helped the pain. She will soon be undergoing radiation and drugs for women with metastatic breast cancer.

4/27 - Grannysaurus Rex requests prayers for healing for Michael as he undergoes experimental treatment to clean his blood in preparation for a liver transplant. His entire body is failing from an infection caused by exposure to mold. The procedure has only a 30% success rate, but it is his only chance. Please pray for wisdom for his medical team and for his family, especially his 4-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, that God's grace surrounds and comforts them.

5/12 - Ladyl asks for urgent prayers for two year old Ronan who has suddenly developed neurological symptoms.

5/13 - Give thanks to God on behalf of OregonMuse, who is healing far more quickly from his injury than expected, and with virtually no pain. Pray that he would regain the rest of his strength, as he tires quickly, probably due to the losing so much blood.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com.

Romans 8:26-27:
[26] In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. [27] And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

27 Fun fact - the show was originally called Kotter, but John Sebastian couldn't figure a way to gracefully use the name in the theme song, so the show's name was changed to reflect the song: Welcome Back, Kotter.

And the song proved so popular that Sebastian had to write a second verse so it could be released as a single.

Sadly, getting a Jesuit to blush is on a par with trisecting an angle with a cucumber and a piece of string. I would cite the current pope -- the first Jesuit ever to sit on the Throne of Saint Peter -- as Exhibit #1.

57 One good thing out of all of this mess, I guess, is I have spent more time studying the bible, studying passages on the Jesus' return and such.

If you're so inclined, I highly recommend it, as there is a peace that comes with it. A comfort knowing that all of this evil crap ends. Badly, for them.

All of this evil you see today is put into perspective and you walk away assured that God has a plan, even in all of this nonsense you see. A plan like more and more people turning to God in their fear and desperation.

So take heart, keep your eyes on God and let the Big Guy work his plan. He's batting 1000%.

59 oh and fsh and chips sounds fab about right now.

now, why are we in such a bind regarding protesting? i do think that part of the reason is that obama was partially successful in his fundamental transformation of the US. and it began way before him, but i think he finished it off to an extent.

but the other half is the US media. they have done a fantastic job of isolating and convincing us that we're mostly alone. think about it, other than here and a few small groups, how many people do you know that are ready and willing to do something?

hell, look at the response to jan 6th. the fed gov is in gestapo mode and our "representatives" can't be fucking bothered to do anything to even highlight it. and that's not counting the fuck nuggets on our "side" who are actively supporting the gov actions.

70 Since you posted a picture of a leggy woman, I feel justified in noting that I watched part of "The BandWagon" last night. It's a Fred Astaire movie, albeit when he was older. The movie itself didn't do much for me, at times shading into Fosse-esque modern (read epileptic fit) dance, but Cyd Charisse was absolutely gorgeous and could actually dance. Her only superior is, of course, Ginger Rogers. Astaire is just in a league of his own.

104 The two week lockdown was to prevent hospitals from running out of capacity. It was assumed that the lockdown would help prevent initial exponential spread, help us get a handle on how much hospital resource would be needed, and then augment capacity as needed through the military and private charity.

We learned after that two weeks that hospital capacity was not going to be a problem. We learned in the subsequent couple of weeks that mortality was not as bad as feared. We then learned about some therapeutic regimes that were effective (from moderate to extremely).

I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt in the very early phases, especially if the IC had good intelligence that this was a lab leak. Overreaction in that case might be justifiable at the time with the data then available. By Easter of 2020, however, it was obvious. That's my mark. Every second of this shit beyond Easter of last year has been, in essence, a war crime against the population.

It is someone else's money. Inflation hits everyone, and gets worse the further away you get from the source. Those with first access to shit money (the major banks, the government) do okay. Everyone downstream loses more and more.

So by printing the welfare money, while not "someone else's money," is "everyone else's money."

146 I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt in the very early phases,
especially if the IC had good intelligence that this was a lab leak.
Overreaction in that case might be justifiable at the time with the data
then available. By Easter of 2020, however, it was obvious. That's my
mark. Every second of this shit beyond Easter of last year has been, in
essence, a war crime against the population.------------------------------------I am not willing to give the benefit of the doubt, because the doubt is not only justifiable, it is certain. And so given the choice between the old normal (work hard, make money) and the new normal (sit on your fat ass, make money), people with no shame took that government cash, just like the welfare bum and EBT whore.

And it's still destroying our country, as we speak.

Simplistic and silly. Small business owners know what work is and aren't out to cash in on the short term at expense of the long term.

My wife owns a small business. She worked for two years to build it and was crushed when it basically collapsed. You think a few loans makes up for that?

And I'd guess the reason most of these owners didn't band together is because a) they didn't realize they'd be fucked for so long and b) what difference would it make? Talk about a helpless feeling.

168 Yes, I agree that after a couple of months, when we had a better idea what we were dealing with, we should have instituted more rational measures. But my opinion diverges a bit from some of my respected fellow 'rons because I don't think Trump's reticence was due to germophobia. I think it was a blend of at least two things. One, Trump is not egotistical enough to assume he knows better than the doctors. I think he respects expertise in others. He knows what he doesn't know and seeks the best advice he can find. Unfortunately, the swamp is even thicker with cads than he ever imagined, so good advice was scarce.

Two, part of his concern was to counteract the insane panic the swampsters were cultivating with all their might. He was trying to reassure Americans. He may have felt that upsetting the apple cart in the middle of a pandemic would have been far more alarming than helpful.

Of course, it's easy to imagine that if he had done one thing or another that things would have turned out a certain way. But there's no guarantee the swamp would not have countered with something even more horrendous.

I don't disagree on them being wrong. My point is just that at the time, if they thought we were dealing with a synthetic virus (we likely were) with unknown parameters, unknown spread, unknown mortality, unknown treatment and unknown effects, then overreaction in the absence of data isn't entirely unjustifiable. It was quite clear early on, though, that the worst case scenarios weren't justified. That the extreme response continued beyond that knowledge is evidence of profound evil whereas the initial response may be rationalized as an overreaction in the absence of good information. It's why I have it pinned at Easter. It may have been evil from the start, but it was absolute, unquestionable evil from that point forward.

OM - first of all, welcome back. We missed the big Magilla in these parts. Great post.

I disagree with this part of it, though. Yes, looking back at it Trump should have fired Fauxci back in Feb 2020. Only thing was, if he did that he would have been impeached, and Mitch McConnell would have led the charge, not Schumer or Pelosi. Fauci was untouchable for months into the lockdown - a secular saint, anointed by the MSM. Navarro had his number- and said so - and got tremendous blowback at the time. At one point, IIRC, it was rumored that he would be fired, not Fauci. It takes time to bring the homunculus down a peg, and the contradictions in his statements over time were the only thing that could do it. Even now - today, 2 Jun 21 - Fauci is relatively safe. Most LIVs think he's doing a great job.

The fear of a bioweapon release was part of the agitprop, and part of the concerns were (mostly) real enough, but the response was not smart, and then became purely maniacal, seditious, 'terrorist".

Real Force was used against those that opened, or did not wear the mask. And even if a restaurant opened (except for connected governors in private parties) there was fear in their customer base. Then Unemployment paid more than work ...

This was a coordinated attack across all leftist powers, and we found they control ... almost everything. Bailouts for billionaires over the decades allowed globalists to buy all power, including government.

Remember...even with the media "tamping down" on the lab leak theory and upping the danger angle of covid...Trump still won, hence the late night cheating (mixed with the prearranged cheating).

There's a pendulum swing going on in this country right now that the left is trying to ignore and wish away while holding onto our cultural, financial, and governmental institutions, but it's not going to actually change that pendulum swing. They're actually just making sure that the pendulum swings further in the direction they don't want.

America is going to react somehow.

I can only speak anecdotally for the small business I work for and some area businesses that defied local lockdown orders.

My business owner saw the PPP loan program as a boon, actually turned a greater profit and offset expenses that improved his bottom line.

Some area bars decided f* it, they weren't complying. The rest of the local bars trashed them online and went to government meetings demanding that they be punished for violating the rules.

And to be honest, it's about impossible to hire unskilled labor right now, because it pays better to draw a check. Local McDonald's is offering $13 an hour to start with a $500 sign on bonus. Still can't get employees.

To which Mercado, standing behind the old commie, replied, "Perhaps this will clear it up," and smashed the ice axe into Trotsky's head.

This is a fair point, but I think it misses one of the key underlying points, which is that none of this is necessary. This question wouldn't need to be asked (in the specific sense) if the state and press didn't force the extreme response to continue past the point when the data reflected that this wasn't nearly big enough a problem to justify it (even if their responses had been effective, which they weren't). That it was unnecessary (indeed, that it was evil) makes this far worse.

As for what destroyed America, I'm going to say that one of the most destructive forces of all time is television. It makes imagination superfluous, simplifies complex issues to 20 second sound bites, and doesn't require intelligence at all. In fact, it hates intelligence.

Trump did empower governors, but he had real scientists that could have rebuked Fauci and the bureaucrats. I surmise perhaps they had something on Ivanka, or his kids, since DeepStaters always seemed to get their TopMen is every key position.

But Trump was probably being fed lies from his military, from his AG, from the FBI ... the coup was not all out in the open, and the DeepState went into blitzkrieg mode ... their survival was at stake, they seemed to have taken care of their Trump problem (for now).

The rest of the world were the stay-at-homes, the keep-your-head-downs, the ones afraid to take a chance. But, OM, you are absolutely right; Americans aren't like that any more. Somewhere between the end of WW II and now, we lost it. Bit by bit by bit, we let it slip away. The mask compliance is merely a symptom. I spent the entire WuFlu lockdown arguing that the world didn't shut down for the Hong Kong flu, the Asian flu, SARs, and I can't remember what else. Repeatedly, I was told by others who should have known better, that the WuFlu was so much more deadly than anything else short of possibly the Great Plague. I bought the first one recently and watched it for the first time in a decade (on beautiful 4K).

It's more of a Brian de Palma movie than anything else. The paranoia, Hitchcock references, voyeurism...it's all there. Anyway, as an action thriller with a huge budget given to a filmmaker who probably never should have had it, it's fun.

II is an abomination and proof that John Woo is a hack. III is lightly amusing and proof that JJ Abrams barely knows what he's doing but he's going to throw lens flares at everything. IV is where the series really finally comes into its own as the kind of action spectacle that makes Tom Cruise into Action Man. It's a weird series.

Pretty sure part of making the movie was it gave them budget to add the Batboat and Bat Copter as it was planned before they discovered they had a -turns out flash in the pan- bonzo hit for a season and a half or so. They gave businesses the choice between having everything open and replacement income loans that did not need to be repaid, and that percentage tightened up quite a lot.

Here in southern California I've started going everywhere (including into stores) without a mask. I'm usually the ONLY person without a mask, but mostly no one seems to mind. Except, I went into a CVS pharmacy last week and two different workers went all Karen on me, literally almost shouting that I needed a mask or I had to leave.... The pendulum needs to swing a whole lot more.

He's a great actor. Not a GREAT ACTOR like a stage performer with massive range or whatever, but great in the sense of being riveting on screen and entertaining while being able to play a variety of roles convincingly.

We wrote emails back and forth for weeks, and by the end, got pretty much the entire outside of the county open.

I do hate you. I don't hate you because you're Asian, though. That has nothing to do with it. I hate you because you're clearly a woke-ass adherent to Critical Theory with a raft of degrees that you misinterpret as making you valuable. 421 People continuously criticize Trump for not FIRING Fauci after a few months. Apparently no one believes in the fact that Civil Servants in the government cannot be fired. How was Trump supposed to fire this 52 year veteran of the NIH, who was the current head of it, making $450,000 per year? Whom was treated like an all knowing deity by the press, the Democrats, and half of the Republicans?

Until Congress changes the employment laws around civil servants in conjunction with getting their union to approve, you will not be able to get rid of these barnacles.

Blaming Pence for including Fauci on the Covid Task Force as if he knew that Fauci would be double dealing with China is idiotic. Imagine excluding the head of the National Institute of Health during a world wide pandemic from a committee to guide the US policy toward protecting it's citizens? It's amazing how people seem to want to blame someone for not doing something they legally cannot do, and for seeking guidance from the very people who are charged professionally with providing that guidance.

434 I don't disagree with that. But that is not what happened.

They gave businesses the choice between having everything open and replacement income loans that did not need to be repaid, and that percentage tightened up quite a lot.

Posted by: Bitter Clinger at June 02, 2021 10:55 AM (7F9te)

Businesses had no choice. They were shut down. The loan was to supposedly help cushion the blow as we each chipped in our two weeks to flatten the curve.

Well, it became apparent that some businesses are more equal than others and nobody really gave a fuck about the hard work and sweat these owners put into something that was ripped from them in a matter of weeks.

439 The average citizens in this country never bothered to inform themselves about Russiagate. If they had, they would have known Rod Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller for only one purpose: to overthrow Trump.

When that failed, Rosenstein and his pals were in very deep shit so they concocted the Ukraine setup to justify Trump's removal with impeachment #1.

When that failed too, Rosenstein's sister at the CDC conspired with the MSM to call for a press conference without authorization from her boss (who was on a plane over the Atlantic), and sounded the coronavirus alarm to derail Trump's election.

That press conference alone should have been a clue coronavirus was nothing but a political tool.

440 The Mummy remake wasn't really Cruise's fault. The producers took it and tried to make a huge shared universe thing out of their monster movies after seeing the MCU doing so well and crapped the bed like Harry in Dumb and Dumber.

It has more exposition than any movie I have ever seen and its incredibly tedious. There's glimpses of what could have been a better movie in there but its overall just awful to watch.

See, a lot of stuff that gets shot in a regular production doesn't get used, so you have tons of voice over readings, etc. But in this one... they used it all. Then they probably had Cruise come back in and read a bunch more. It was interminable.

What they COULD have done instead of two really bad sequels is use the Brendan Frazier Mummy to kick off him as a monster hunter back in the day. He runs into ALL the classic monsters, with him and Evie (and her brother) as the thing that ties them together. Even throw in that amazing charismatic Egyptian guy as part of the team.

But no, they only thought in terms of sequels back then.

467 "When the Chinese flu first hit, and the federal government issued lockdown and quarantine mandates"

Most of you were asleep at the wheel. This didn't start with the lockdowns - this started with Hawaiian judges striking down Trump's orders and allowing flights directly from Hubei province and Dems telling people to go to Chinatown and hug random Asians. Then with the State Dept. flying back infected Americans mixed in with the uninfected, then releasing the latter and having the former attended by staff without PPE whose movements weren't even monitored.
Then Dem-run agencies banned commercially sourced tests, and having the office run by Rod Rosenstein's sister manage all testing; that office had to shut down for months after it was discovered they "made a mistake" and were mailing virus-contaminated test kits throughout the US.
The left did EVERY LAST BIT of half-deniable monkeywrenching for about 3 months to make sure they could ramp up as many cases as possible, no doubt to fuel their later actions. THAT is when it was time to do something. But the right was warned well before the lockdowns and the general response was "hurr durr just turn off the TV!"

491 I wanted fish and chips, so ordered take out from McMenamins. It was not good, really like what Burgerville makes. So, for my birthday, I went to the fish market in Ridgefield WA. They have the best fish and chips, also halibut and chips. Great place and price is reasonable.

499 I like DePalma most of the time, he can make some truly gripping and entertaining stuff. But I agree, something's missing in most of his movies, a coherence or a sense of storytelling. Untouchables is a consistent and excellent story told well from start to finish but a lot of them are uneven and just a series of great bits

507 440 The Mummy remake wasn't really Cruise's fault. The producers took it and tried to make a huge shared universe thing out of their monster movies after seeing the MCU doing so well and crapped the bed like Harry in Dumb and Dumber.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at June 02, 2021 11:06 AM (KZzsI)

Cruise reportedly had a lot of sway over the film, as it was going to be the start of a universal Monsters Universe. He even took a reduced paycheck (for him) that included returns for all the films in that universe. So probably carries more blame than your average actor stuck in a bad film by a crap director who is a shit writer, and also came up (at least in part) with the story.

509 421 People continuously criticize Trump for not FIRING Fauci after a few months.

Posted by: Jen the original at June 02, 2021 11:03 AM (igZug)

Then Trump should've reassigned him to something out of the limelight, like, say, investigating salmonella outbreaks in Sitka, Alaska. And make it a 5-year assignment.

Posted by: JoeF. at June 02, 2021 11:08 AM (HrMC1)"

It's herd behavior. Questioning CNN/MSNBC/etc makes you a "kook" - or a "nazi", now - and people want to fit in.

It's one of the really effective prog tactics, sort of like a rhetorical burqa; all office water cooler conversations must be preceded by the well-I-never talking points of the day as distributed by the MSM. The participants get to feel morally superior and correct for doing so, and it makes anyone who isn't joining in stand out.

I have had people who have known me for many years - close friends, the sort of people whose kids you might pick up in a pinch, who are on the Xmas card list - suddenly up and tell me they're worried that their future social credit score will get dinged because they associate with me. That's the level of conformity we're talking about.

The groundwork was being laid much earlier than that; they didn't just hop on this opportunistically, they were getting their ducks in a row possibly as far back as December 2019. Someone leaked docs pertaining to a vaccine development contract dating back that far - the US medical authorities absolutely knew roughly what was up at that point. And once the cat was out of the bag to the public in mid-January it was quickly evident to those in certain communities that there had been cases popping up in North America all the way back in October.

I wanted to like that movie, because I'm a true crime buff. But it left me cold right from the start. Although I did like the bird's eye view of the discovery of the Dahlia's body.

DePalma's got the same sort of visual sense as Peter Greenaway, but not the same narrative flow.

527 Been saying for a year Trump failed, big whopping as bad as Carter failed. Yes germphobia is his Achilles heel. Those god damn sons of bitches Democrats used Trump's weakness to destroy first the economy, the Trump, the Bill of Rights and pretty much the whole country. I saw it, Sarah Hoyt saw it. Trump could not see it. Allow 2 weeks of lockdowns and you might as well use the Constitution for the toilet paper you can't find.

For God's sake don't bring Trump back. He blew it. Yes I hate the NeverTrump with the passion of a thousand suns, but it isn't worth it. Trump had his chance, he Carter'd it. Time to let DeSantis try to steer the ship away from the falls. Of course long before 24, we are going over the falls. Maybe DeSantis can some of us safely to shore.
