  • Intel's high-end 11th generation Tiger Lake laptop parts are here - and they appear to actually be good. (AnandTech)

AMD had a decisive edge in the laptop market with their eight-core processors, where Intel only went up to four cores with their newest chips. This fixes that, while retaining the new Ice Lake core and 10nm process. Tiger Lake on the desktop also goes up to eight cores but has been back-ported to the older 14nm process and as a result uses up to 300W at full load.

No benchmarks just yet, so take any performance claims with a pound of salt, but current Ice Lake laptop parts do perform very well on single-core workloads.

Today we go back to... I don't know exactly. The original Cutie Honey aired in 1973 while the latest version, Cutie Honey Universe, came out in 2018. Cutie Honey creator Go Nagai has been writing manga longer than I've been alive.

This one in particular is from the 1995 second part of the New Cutie Honey OVA series. Oh, and fair warning, this is from 1995, before everything went to hell, so there are brief moments of partial nudity right in the opening credits.

Unexpectedly Apropos Hololive Music Video of the Day

Best doggo Korone has 1.5 million subscribers for a reason. She consistently shows impeccable taste in anime and video games that came out before she was born. Oh, and music too - in one of her Doom streams (so popular that the developers added an easter egg that changed the title to Doog) she started singing Lollipop by the Chordettes.

RGB Considered Harmful Video of the Day

Fake software for controlling your fancy new blinkenlights instead stole your crypto wallet. Sympathy.

Just... Not very much.

Aha, Found It Anime Openings Video of the Day

This syncs up the songs from Cutie Honey (1973), New Cutie Honey (1994), Cutie Honey Flash (1997), and Re: Cutie Honey (2004). The latest series, Cutie Honey Universe (2018) has an entirely different song.

I'd seen this before but the copy I had bookmarked has since been deleted; this is a fresh upload.

Disclaimer: Which is little short of sacrilege, to be honest.

19 I can't say I ever thought if adding Cutie Honey to my anime playlist. Anything with such a buttload of episodes, especially from that period of time, just oozes with pointlessness (granted I did buy almost the entire Dirty Pair universe when it was on sale for really cheap last year)

Though even then it can't be worse than some if the series I've sat through, like Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, and Saiyuki.

23 It's the warrior of love, and heroine of the original magical girl anime, Cutie Honey! Infinite props to Pixy-san for uploading the cool re-mix version plus the cool Karone karaoke of the original hit by the legendary Youko Maekawa.

Man, I definitely the original intro remains one of the best themes to any anime and always triggers my heart like the many a classic 80s cartoon intro.

Also, I must recommend folks should give the original a chance as the action, music, and fan-service remain top-notch for the majority of the series 25 episode run before ending on sour note the last few episodes. In particular, the 13-15 episodes are very good and even somewhat moving and tragic if I can remember.

I'd really only recommend the 90s OVA series. The original 70s TV series is dated, and the later revisits haven't recaptured the magic.

31 Nani!! Rbastid, um, did I hear you right? You didn't like Nadia: Secret of the Blue Water?!?! I'm stunned to hear such anime heresy but I'm willing to give the accuse the floor to defend himself....

The awesome intro and credit theme music by Miho Morikawa, great action, awesome villain Neo Atlantans and freakin Captain Nemo is simply the boss. Let me guess, is it our annoying heroine, Nadia or have reach the infamous 12 episode stretch between 23-34? I can comply with those complaints but, I beg you please reconsider your opinion on that beloved Sadamoto-Anno show.

38 Also, Pixy... being fellow Cutie Honey fans- which series is your favorite? The Original? OVAs ? F? Shin?

Personally, I will always have a soft spot for the original just because of how amazing it still is despite its age and how I get pissed that I was stuck watching Speed Racer as a kid and some lucky kids got Cutie re-runs instead.

btw...I still love Mach GO GO, too. Just not as much as Cutie...and who would disagree with that notion.

Posted by: Lazzari Scooter at May 12, 2021 05:10 AM (YvEh8)

39 And another let it be said; I am enjoying the Morning Anime segment even though I know little or nothing of it ... always liked anime, just never had the spare time.

Posted by: sock_rat_eez at May 12, 2021 05:12 AM (ErSvT)

40 Pixy, I hear ya- the 12 episode stretch definitely hurt the series but you can't neglect how it nicely rebounded to close the series with those last five episodes being perfectly fine.

Plus, from episode 4 to episode 22, Captain Nemo and the Nautilus crew carry that show into a legendary status that I still think compensates for its glaring losing stretch.

Also, don't forget show creatorAnno has openly disregarded those episodes as non-canon and anyone watching can freely skip those 12 episodes if they choose to avoid unnecessary reset.

Nothing beats Part II for me but I'll admit the recent Part 5 is probably better. Castle of Cagliostro remains the pinnacle feature and being directed by the GOAT: Hayao Miyazaki it comes to no surprise.

But they don't have pretty colors and flashing lights for the salesman to show off before the already distracted user has to f&ck with them while driving for the next 3-7 years.

It is. That pipeline supplies 45% of transportation fuels for the easy coast iirc.

But you'll probably feel the effects soon. Supply lines are going to be affected, and there will probably be efforts to redirect trucks to the east.

Biden gas lines, and it only took four months.

135 re: Ford and sign reading

We got a 2021 Bronco Sport mid-March. Instrument cluster has only 2 physical dial instruments: speedo and tach. Rest of info is digital. Bar indicators for fuel and engine coolant temp. Most other stuff is configurable.

Vehicle has a forward-looking cam on the windshield in front of the rear view mirror. It does rain sensing, oncoming headlight sensing, and road sigh reading.

Instrument cluster includes a display of the current speed limit. I *think* it's what's in the GPS map is the base and the sign is an override. Yellow caution speed limit signs seem to turn off the display until a regular seed limit sign is passed. I am assuming this is to cue the driver to pay attention to local conditions more closely.

Reading ad signs could be helpful if they were translated to things like "miles to next fuel" or " miles to next food".

136 "Supply lines are going to be affected, and there will probably be efforts to redirect trucks to the east. "

Except for Rt 40 going over the Mississippi at Memphis.

Shut down both ways for a discovered crack in the bridge.

And no river shipping either, as river traffic is blocked from going under the bridge.

All we need is a few railroad crossings over the Mississippi to fail, and we are in deep shit.

Yeah a lot of it had to do with Nadia being probably the most awful character in the history of entertainment. Miyasaki finding a way to moronically shoehorn in his hate of America didn't help either. But those are only the first few of my gripes with a show that ended up being mostly pointless, even as it devolved into a bad slice of life series.
