It doesn't matter that all the studies on masking have reported the same thing: Masks are not effective at stopping the spread of the Wuflu and in fact, are better at increasing upper respiratory infections.

10 states have banned vaccine passports and yesterday's news said interest in getting the vaccine has waned. IMO, they'll make another push to enforce compliance thru schools, jobs and travel but then the lawsuits challenging those restrictions will start.

5/1 (AM) - 25% masked outdoors (at beach)

I count as I run; the sample size each time is about 200 people. And our neighbors had a large gathering in their house last night (grad celebration for daughter). We didn't go and it was still glorious to see... cars parked up and down the block. No Karen called to complain (as far as I know).

About the only place I've worn a mask recently is to church. The 7:00 AM Mass I go to is for "at-risk" parishoners but none of the other four Sunday Masses require them, nor do any of the weekday Masses. But I expect the requirement for even this one will be dropped soon.

Reverse that trajectory. The lawyer will be the most difficult to obtain (unless you have a "medical sob story" that he/she can sell), so you want to make sure you have one in hand before you take the step, not after.
Lawyers have seen what happens when they step out of line in the Chauvin case, and if you don't think that has a chilling effect on what they are willing to step out on with little possibility of any real payoff...well...again, I've said previously that those who want to avoid the vaccine need to fund a group of lawyers independently who don't have to worry where their next job will come from, and just need to worry about trying a case (notice, I didn't say win it, b/c that's also gonna be very, very hard in the current environment)...this is what homeschoolers did when homeschooling wasn't popular, and it has worked, and worked greatly.

About a year ago I lost my mom. She and my dad were living in a retirement community in North Carolina. Early May 2020 was when there was some seriously fucked up shit going on and many states were completely shut down. I remember driving from Kentucky to her place in Burlington, NC. My point here is that the retirement community where my folks used to live is STILL using visitor protocols from a year ago. Masks, take your temperature, social distancing and I need to be "pre screened" to go visit their burial site.

Around here (rural southern AZ) the masks are getting scarcer. Corporate owned places may require them but locally owned places don't. It's becoming more of a political affiliation symbol than anything else. Except for some of the very elderly, who you still might see driving in their cars with the windows up wearing one. Probably a result of watching the TV a lot and still believing in its general truthfulness like 50 years ago when the general view of big media was that it might have a lefty bias but it wouldn't tell complete whoppers.

They will try to control and enact laws to do so and then when those laws are universally ignored they will either hire those that they will vet for the correct attitude to police and arrest those who do not comply and/or enable more and more robotic objects to perform more of the observation and identification (with the misidentification that machinery can bring) and their expansion of use for actual arrest and seizure and home invasion. I went shopping at the nearby tourist trap town last week. 6 out of the 8 stores I visited did not require masks. In fact, two of the no-mask stores had employees who went on a rant about the whole Covid thing being of de debil.
One of the two yes-mask stores had a sign that read something like "We would love to have you shop with us. We respect your right not to wear a mask, but out of courtesy we ask that you do." I thought that was fine.

Far too many people treat the various aspects of COVID (in its entirety) as absolutes.
If you're exposed to it you'll catch it. If you are anywhere near someone who has it you'll get it. If Grandma gets it she's gonna die. If I wear a mask I won't get it. If everyone wears a mask nobody will get. If somebody gets it, it was because that guy at the grocery store didn't wear his mask. If you have a positive PCR test you have the disease. If you get the vaccination you won't get the disease, unless someone doesn't wear a mask. As long as there is one person with the virus the pandemic will continue, and so on and so on.
All of these things involve nuance, gradations, varying degrees of risk assessment and massive ranges of individual variability in terms of susceptibility, innate immunity, personal risk factors and personal value systems. None of this is amenable to a one-size-fits-all top-down heavy-handed governmental micromangerial approach.

If you get the vaccination you won't get the disease, unless someone doesn't wear a mask. As long as there is one person with the virus the pandemic will continue, and so on and so on.
All of these things involve nuance, gradations, varying degrees of risk assessment and massive ranges of individual variability in terms of susceptibility, innate immunity, personal risk factors and personal value systems. None of this is amenable to a one-size-fits-all top-down heavy-handed governmental micromangerial approach.

35 10 states have banned vaccine passports and yesterday's news said interest in getting the vaccine has waned. IMO, they'll make another push to enforce compliance thru schools, jobs and travel but then the lawsuits challenging those restrictions will start.

Watched the parade and Vlad's speech last night, as always. Was immediately struck that, for the first time since I've been watching it, he ventured (just a bit) out of general platitudes and strict focus on WWII to allude to current issues, even a little. Hasn't happened before.

Then, as far as anyone should be concerned, any justification for masking, social distancing and capacity restrictions disappears.

So my Wife and I got our second shots, me Thursday and she Friday. HOLY CRAP the side effect hit me really hard, Chills, Fever of 102 and Fatigue, my wife is just fatigue. Also my shoulder hurts like a MOTHER

Herd immunity can be had in "regions" (aka, the US may not get there, but certain areas of the US might), so they are expecting my area to hit full herd immunity in July 2021, although I do live in an area with great vaccination rates. There is less certainty the rest of the state will get there in 2021.

I worry that my son's college will eventually mandate the Covid vaccine, when it becomes FDA approved. He has two more years to go. And he had Covid two months ago.
The school sends out a health update every day, with new cases and total cases. For the last week they have had 0 new cases and 4 total cases, in a school of over 15,000 kids. The most active cases they had this semester was, I think, 40.

My gut feel is that Florida and some other States banning a requirement for a vaccine passport will not give them total freedom from passports, because Blue States may require vaccine passports to do much of anything other than stepping into your own backyard. Unfortunately.
What happens when a Blue City tells it's aviation and police departments that only persons with a vaccine passport will be allowed to get off of a plane arriving from Florida? Or when people from Florida without a vaccine passport are not allowed in most stores and business offices in a Blue State? These are extreme examples, and may not come to pass. But I would not bet against it, and G-d-only knows how Federal Courts will rule on this sort of stuff.

Swinging', did they give you Regeneron? I got Covid pneumonia too, but I had Covid more than ten days before I got the pneumonia so they couldn't give me that. I got one dose of an oral steroid, z-pack and a couple of inhalers. Started feeling better right away.

I did, Grammie, in mid March. We almost all got Covid, very mild symptoms, felt fine within a few days. But on the day I got out of quarantine, I woke up feeling very fatigued. The days later my doc sent me to the hospital for a chest X-ray and I had Covid pneumonia. I was the only one in the family who got that. Luckily, I have no underlying conditions, so it was an easy recovery. Those three days of fatigue were strange though. Nothing hurt, no fever, just exhausted, but not tired, if that makes sense.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for the baptismal service. It all went fine and everyone seemed happy and now I am exhausted. One funny thing- and I hope this won't offend the high church types- I have kids process in the front and throw confetti as the baby is brought around to show to people, and we all sing "Jesus loves me" This confetti was small multi colored l paper circles and it floated in the air above the heating vent. It was pretty and they loved it.
And I have to clean it up on Tuesday because I made the mess.

Most of the people are still wearing the mask but more and more now I see people having it below the nose or even hanging off the chin. I walked around for a few minutes in Walmart yesterday maskless but it didn't take long for a manager to ask me to put it on. So I did. On my chin.

I have only worn the mask because of my job, which requires it because of local and state ordinances.
Also, because of the ordinances, I have been forced to wear it in stores, but you have to if you want to get groceries.
Other than that, I value my freedom.
If they tell me that I have to hate Jews at my job or to grocery shop, I will also do that. But not on my own time.
But I love freedom, big time. Huge patriot.
