But they are currently out of stock on new parts.

They are not that mystical. Worked with them a couple years. People did some stupid things (tossing them on tables, dropping boxes of the things) never saw one cook off. Of course, they had to be stored in a metal, sealed and closed container. I always thought it was hilarious the difference between how people handle them and how they had to be stored.

She contended it is not a sin. So I read to her Romans 1: 24-32, which clearly identifies in verse 27 the specificity of homosexuality as sinful and unnatural. She contended for a while that it was interpretation or what have you. Of course I countered this with umpteen translations that all identified the same thing, just in different diction.
Finally she acquiesced and said "I know what it says, but I just don't think that God would think that." So I asked her to read verse 25 to me, which, in the NLT says "Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies". She didn't particularly care for that.
She contended we shouldn't say it's a sin, that they love each other and that should be celebrated. So I told her to read verse 32, which in the NLT says "They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too."
She really didn't like that. But at least our conversation on that topic was over.

Last year I was looking at mortality numbers for the common flu and India was very low. Not a preponderance of cold/flu deaths before this covid.
It sure is interesting how at every turn things seem to mysteriously work out well for the chinese.

Yeah. It's really good. The guy who created it wanted to make a Biblical TV Show, but authentic to the messages therein. He said there's never really been a TV Show about Christ. Miniseries and movies but not a show. He wants a billion people to see it.
I think it was completely crowdfunded though not sure.

The thing I noticed on my first rewatch of Season 5 was that it wasn't as bad as I remembered - especially once you get to like episode 8. I think it pretty much takes off at that point and basically goes back to expected-level Justified. I blow through the Ava storyline whenever I watch it anymore.
The first half of the season is just not good. Michael Rappaport is a bigmouth idiot and almost singlehandedly ruins the show. But Wendy more than makes up for him IYKWIM. I just wish we'd seen more of her.

Anyway he said something interesting. He said his rule about writing movies that he followed strictly was "tell the truth". And I do find there is an honesty to his movies, and that his perspective tends to lean conservative (discounting of course the obsessions with race vengeance and his lectures about cops). I mean he wrote a four hour kung fu movie about a woman avenging (and eventually saving) her unborn baby.

Sorry, I can't see subscriptions for a safety related item like this, especially if the "connectedness" is only required because of the subscription model.
What happens if they go out of business? What if they get hacked? How does the service get turned off? Is there an indication on your vest that your vest is now "off"? Does this indication have a counter ("you have 7 days to renew")? What does this rely on (cellular, satellite, wifi, other)? Is there a battery that is required to turn the service on or off?

I'm mixed on the Kill Bill parts, as it really is one movie. The second part felt so weird because you waited six months and then the tone was just so different. And it wasn't nearly as tight.
I think if you lose an unspecified half hour out of Part 2 it becomes much better. But it's one of those I've learned to appreciate more as time has passed.

The fire alarm is a system set up in a fixed location with a communication system that is has been tested against (most likely land line and cellular) and a reliable power supply.

I have OpenOffice on this Win7 machine, and Libreoffice on the Linux box. They can save files in Windoze Office formats. Seems to me the big compatibility hurdle is the way they handle macros.

Its also moved to beds. Sleep Number has a line that requires continual internet connection. I read the EULA and it is downright terrifying. Apparently the bed can hear you snore and will adjust the air pressure to your weight and it can monitor your heart rate. That means it has a microphone, heat, ECG and weight monitors built in, and it sends this to SleepNumber. They will invalidate the subscription if the mattress is used in a B&B. From reports of people using the bed, the bed is constantly changing pressure in the zones. The EULA also reads that if one disconnects it from the internet or attempts to determine what is being sent, Sleep Number will deflate and brick your mattress.

I've seen two 8" floppy systems in operation. One was in the army, and they replaced it before I left. The other was at NASA. It was not replaced when I left in 1999. As far as I know, it was still used from time to time to test if equipment was ready for shuttle data formats. Hopefully they've retired that thing by now.

Like night and day, so to speak.

I got into VAXes (VAXen, for the purist) because that's what we had at work. I also thought the built in clustering in VMS was pretty cool. Unless the roof drains backed up and water starting pouring into the data center right on top of a cluster. Then the clustering features didn't help much.
