I've heard of putting lipstick on a pig, but this is the first time I've seen a brown shirt on one.
You think the split pig represents something sexual? Take a look at the fruitcake in the red hat inflating a pig bladder. That's as subtle as Michelle Obama's bulge.

127 Okay, this is a fun painting. The colors are lively but not garish. The sky is reflected in the clothing colors. Everyone (including the dogs) is having a good time with the prospect of an even better time soon. The scene has a feel of long established tradition for that place with its slightly worn stone work and the spring plants growing on the houses so there is a comfortable continuity about it. The butchered hog, which is a hard reality, almost dominates the scene and is very realistic but not discordant.

It's a pleasant, cheerful image that makes the viewer want to smile when thinking about it.

Good point. Makes me think, who OWNS that hog? It isn't community property, it must belong to one (probably well-off) villager. Yet everyone is gathering round, clearly expecting to have a good time. This makes me think this may have been a bit of a tradition in this village: at hog-butchering time, the rich man of the village invites the neighbours over to share in his prosperity.

136 Great WSJ article about cooking an entire cow.

https://tinyurl.com/6p7nrpea

It was expensive the steer alone, skinned and butterflied, cost about $2,000 and at 863 pounds, it took six men to heave it out of the slaughterhouse and onto a truck. The grill, which Mr. Bannister and friends designed, required a 14-foot-long rack, a three-ton chain hoist and tube steel buried five feet in 3,000 pounds of concrete.

The country of Denmark spent a few million in tax money to determine the "national dish." Because DK was the world's largest exporter of pork products, they determined it was a pork dish where they bake the cut with the fat cap on where the fat turns to the crunchy outer layer and the meat stays tender as the fat renders down.

Don't remember what the dish is called, but I've had it and it's not bad. Tax money well spent? Maybe not.....

I hope Trump blasts that fat fuck like a Harrier jet afterburner.

My wife's grandparents met at the tomato shed. Red River County used to be "The tomato capital of the SouthWest" or some such. The shed they met at was the last one standing but was tore down a few years ago due to excessive rot. They built a new one as a tribute to the town's past. We bought a brick that was embossed with something for them.

246 I'm still perplexed by someone being told he has "long lungs". The long axis of the human lung is in the caudal-cranial axis (vertical). So if this dimension were disproportionately increased I would think you would refer to them as tall.

Emphysema or COPD give you overly expanded lungs, which show more as an increased A-P dimension (front to back) and side to side.

An ectomorph or exceptionally tall person might appear to have a tall chest cavity, but this is more a reflection of skeletal dimensions. The lungs are just along for the ride in that case.

First world problem I suppose, but I'm perplexed.

The Spanish are real serious about their air-dried pork. Like, "them's tighten words!" serious. Pretty expensive too. Hundreds of dollars in US if you could get it which you can't because our food inspectors ban it. I've heard it was really good. I asked one guy if it was similar to itallian stuff we can get here like prosciutto and he was insulted.
