Unbelievable: Secret Unit Inside the US Post Office Is Monitoring Americans' Social Media Usage

Cue National Review and Conservative, Inc. to present "The Conservative Case for Neverending Stasi Surveillance."

Note that the strong suggestion here is that the Postal Service has been weaponized to find right-wing "insurrectionists" -- while the federal government continues to label antifa and BLM terrorism "protected first amendment activity."

Reported by Jana Winter:

The law enforcement arm of the U.S. Postal Service has been quietly running a program that tracks and collects Americans' social media posts, including those about planned protests, according to a document obtained by Yahoo News.

The details of the surveillance effort, known as iCOP, or Internet Covert Operations Program, have not previously been made public. The work involves having analysts trawl through social media sites to look for what the document describes as "inflammatory" postings and then sharing that information across government agencies.

"Analysts with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) monitored significant activity regarding planned protests occurring internationally and domestically on March 20, 2021," says the March 16 government bulletin, marked as "law enforcement sensitive" and distributed through the Department of Homeland Security’s fusion centers. "Locations and times have been identified for these protests, which are being distributed online across multiple social media platforms, to include right-wing leaning Parler and Telegram accounts."

A number of groups were expected to gather in cities around the globe on March 20 as part of a World Wide Rally for Freedom and Democracy, to protest everything from lockdown measures to 5G. "Parler users have commented about their intent to use the rallies to engage in violence. Image 3 on the right is a screenshot from Parler indicating two users discussing the event as an opportunity to engage in a 'fight' and to 'do serious damage,'" says the bulletin.

"No intelligence is available to suggest the legitimacy of these threats," it adds.

The bulletin includes screenshots of posts about the protests from Facebook, Parler, Telegram and other social media sites. Individuals mentioned by name include one alleged Proud Boy and several others whose identifying details were included but whose posts did not appear to contain anything threatening.

...

The government's monitoring of Americans' social media is the subject of ongoing debate inside and outside government, particularly in recent months, following a rise in domestic unrest. While posts on platforms such as Facebook and Parler have allowed law enforcement to track down and arrest rioters who assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6, such data collection has also sparked concerns about the government surveilling peaceful protesters or those engaged in protected First Amendment activities.

Notice how they contrast the rioters of January 6 -- who are insurrectionists who need to be surveilled -- with the rioters of antifa and BLM, who have been burning down cities and terrorizing people for daring to use the public roads they paid for or have a meal in a restaurant for a fucking year, which are presumably the "peaceful protesters or those engaged in protected First Amendment activities."

Note that the Grifter Pseudoright continues to echo the false claims of the far left authoritarians, thereby justifying these increasingly repressive government actions.

Here's Guy -- or Gal-- Benson just today, talking up the "deadly" January 6th riot, refusing to acknowledge the only deadliness that day that wasn't due to natural causes was a government agent killing an unarmed woman:

This seems to be the go-to move for most partisans in the current era of American politics. Deflect to the other tribe, back and forth, on and on. Clean up your own house, they cry, evincing little appetite to do the same. And even if you think McCarthy punted on accountability for the cause of the disgraceful and deadly January 6th riot, he did not support the violence.

This was published by Salem Media today or yesterday -- well after the reveal (which most non-NeverTrumpers already knew about) that Brian Sicknick had died of strokes, not due to the "disgraceful and deadly" four hour insurrection.

But Salem Media continues to propagate these lies to justify continued government repression of their archenemies in the non-corporate, non-neocon right.

These people continue holding jobs in the Conservative, Inc. grifter media -- Gal Benson's at Townhall, owned by Salem.

Salem continues employing repulsive leftwingers like AllahPundit.

They are enemy comms, and I'm done linking them. All of them. (Well, I'll link Kurt Schlichter and Derek Hunter and John Sexton, but the rest, no more links. Done.)

Meanwhile: Gal Benson should resort to more inflammatory and misleading language to justify the FBI investigating an SJW-turned-Anti-SJW posting... sarcastic tweets.

Maybe she was just tweeting in order to achieve "suicide by cop," like James Hodgkinson did.

Endless invasive surveillance by a corrupt neomaoist god-state -- just what Reagan always promsied us.

Hey, the "disgraceful and deadly riots" of 1/6 (see, it's like 9/11!) require nothing less.

35 I used to live next to a mailhuman (mailman is sexist) back in my misspent youth. At the time, a friend of mine was getting marijuana delivered in the mail that he would share with people. I knew my mailperson was cool, so I asked him about the chances of anyone getting caught doing that.

He said something along the lines of "I don't know any delivery person who would care, and even if we suspected drugs in the mail, we'd have the hold the package, contact the postal inspector, and deal with a ton of paperwork. The closest postal inspector is an hour away, and he hates being hassled."

But I'm glad to see they're focusing their (apparently limited) law enforcement activities on cruising facebook instead of doing anything related to, you know, the postal service. Probably preferable to sit in a room in Boston or NYC, then to drive all around the country responding to claims of drugs or firearms being illegally shipped across state lines.

And T-Ball, small one had some decent hits, and was part of each of the only two thrown outs from his team (once on first, once a throw to first). Yeah, they're not really "out" in T-Ball, but he executed as practiced nonetheless. Honestly, given his relative skill level, he should be in the next league.

Posted by: Patrick From Ohio

If you are able, get one in 20 gauge rather than 12. Faster recovery time and even a 20 gauge is equivalent in firepower to firing two .44 Magnum rounds at the same time.

That being said, the gas system of the AR shotguns does eliminate some recoil and you can find recoil reducing stocks or port your barrel to get felt recoil down further.

Stay away from slugs though, a twelve gauge slug pounds the shoulder even in gas driven semi autos. Because firing them is so unpleasant, you will shoot less of them and in typical self defense situations, the slug will generally overpenetrate through walls and the like compared with buckshot. Recovery time between shots is much slower than using buckshot also.

No recordings ever. All paper so they can "adjust" it if necessary.

Ask for a warrant. They'll try to fake you into coming with them. Never go freely. Make sure before you greet them that your doors and windows are locked and the blinds are drawn otherwise they will take liberties.

usually they do not show up with warrants. Even most judges don't deem some questions that they want answered sufficient for a warrant unless you've been pinpointed as the main suspect.

Do not say anything or much of anything cause they will write that down any way they wish and interpret it any way they wish.

It's the sort of thing you grumble and vent about after the latest outrage, but to see it genuinely happening before my eyes is chilling. You read about the fall of Rome but you don't expect to find yourself living in it.

Contrast this, by the way, with the police shoot we are talking about today - a cop had to decide to shoot a knife wielding woman or not in a split second. And for that he will be destroyed.

This cop in DC though? Took his time, aimed to kill, and did the dirty deed. And for that he is considered a hero in DC.

I do wonder in an alternate time line where Ashli gets through and argues with some DC staffer do we get the latter admitting to the fraud on video?

300 It is always wise to have your attorney tell your story rather than yourself. Anything you say to law enforcement or others apart from discussing the matter with legally privileged people such as your lawyer can be used against you.

However, whatever your lawyer relies to law enforcement cannot be used in court under most circumstances as it is hearsay and your conversation with the lawyer is protected by privilege. In addition, do not consent to a search of self, places, or containers, never ever. You have a fighting chance at excluding search results if you do not consent. If you do consent, virtually nil.

Stupid people try to match wits with law enforcement; guilty ones often overestimate their intelligence and want to know what law enforcement knows. Innocent people just want to help solve a crime. Both types of fools are exploited in interrogation.

Hollywood propaganda, man. No one who has worked in the legal system in any capacity talks to cops.

Guarantee you 0/100 cops involved in police involved shootings that could result in any kind of criminal charges sit down for interviews with their colleagues. They immediately go to their union lawyer, who does all the talking for them.

Lots of reasons for it, but the most important thing to remember is this: Let's say you make 10 statements that could potentially help your defense, and one that could hurt you.

The one that could hurt you is, of course, admissible in court. The 10 that could help you ... well, unless the officer decides to testify about it, those aren't going to come up.

So there is literally no upside. No one talks themselves out of being arrested, but many many MANY people talk themselves in to it.

Re: smart phone listening to you and cueing up ads based on your conversations: I've been interested in this for a while and have read up on it.

They claim they're not doing this, and some outfits have done tests where they carefully monitor network traffic and have participants say random things that might trigger ads, if they were listening.

So far, it seems they are NOT doing this. To do it, mass continuous audio surveillance of millions and millions of people having random conversations would required too much processing power.

So, how do they do it? The answer is even more creepy than mass audio eavesdropping. Their behavior prediction algorithms are apparently that good. They can figure out what you'll be interested in even before you do.

And that's why I will never own a smart phone, nor join any social media.

There exists a certain, not small faction on the right that frustrates the shit out of me. I can't quite summarize them succinctly. For lack of a better term, they live their lives like a cliche', or an after school special. Shit like "never quit" and "good always trumps evil". Day to day ? That's simply not true. When bashing your head against a brick wall - quit as soon as possible. Evil wins all the time - don't assume you've got this one in the bag.

Mike Lindell seems like one of those nice guys that lives everything like a cliche'. Somebody smart enough to make a pretty good business out of selling pillows should be smart enough not to go on TV for a character assassination. Yet - you see these dupes do it all the time.

Stories like this abound, which is why they've attempted to "measure it" and see if it actually happens. One group did this very thing as you did. Had subjects talk, randomly, about stuff that would trigger ads. They did this on large scale with many such random conversations.

Results were no "ad hits" greater than chance. And they'd monitored network traffic all the while, and could see no evidence of audio packets being transmitted.

It would take a shit ton of bandwidth and a shit ton of processing power to process all that audio of millions of people talking.

369 One can also use faraday cages for smart phones etc. to break up their predictions on things like locations and routes. I have a few similar stories (I've told here) and am 100% convinced that someone or something is listening in to conversations, even with the phone turned off. In one case, I was served up ads literally immediately after talking about a particular product.

I have no doubt that the Androids are designed for this task, while iPhones are more ad-driven unless you install a goolag app, in which case all bets are off.

Get one of those little faraday pouches to keep the phone in when not being used. Make sure your smart tv remains as unactivated as possible. Put some museum putty in the mic hole. If you've got a laptop, disable the camera and mic both through the software and physically.
