Justice is when you’re pulled over, there not being a gun that’s part of that interaction because you have a headlight out. Justice is your school system not having or being part of a school-to-prison pipeline. Justice is a municipality and a government that does not — because it trickles down right? — that does not value military and armaments more than it healthcare, and education, and housing.
So justice is Adam Toledo being tucked in at night by his mom. With all due respect Congress woman Cortez, how could his mom tuck him in bed when he was running the streets of Chicago at 2:30AM with a firearm?
On March 29, just after 2:30 AM, Chicago’s ShotSpotter alert system detected eight or nine gunshots in the West Side, largely Latino, neighborhood of Little Village, where gangs like the Latin Kings and Two Six have made gunplay a regular part of life. Chicago police officer Eric Stillman and his partner sped toward the gunshots once they received the ShotSpotter alert, doubtless hoping to nab the perpetrators and spare the community additional carnage. When they arrived on the scene, almost immediately after those shots were fired, they happened upon two individuals. One of them—who we now know to be 13-year-old Adam Toledo—took off on foot and, at one point, pulled a gun with his right hand. Stillman gave chase, and the world saw what happened next—at least the part highlighted (and, in one case, deceptively edited) by media outlets, many of which elided the actual events of Toledo’s shooting. The immediate cause of Toledo’s death was the bullet fired by Officer Stillman. But it’s worth examining how a 13-year-old boy ended up in a full sprint through a dark alley at 2:30 AM with a gun in his hand and a police officer on his tail. Start a few minutes before the shooting. Though it hasn’t gotten much attention, a video compilation that the Chicago Police Department released includes footage that seems to show Toledo walking with a young man before one (or both) fired the eight or nine shots at a passing vehicle near the alley where the police encountered Toledo. Exactly who pulled the trigger remains unclear (the footage is grainy), though CNN reported last Friday, citing prosecutors, that both Toledo’s hand, and the gloves of the man he was with, tested positive for gunshot residue. According to police, that man is a 21-year-old named Ruben Roman, who was arrested at the scene for allegedly obstructing Officer Stillman as he gave chase.

Future pranksters might want to take note: faking your own kidnapping for laughs is never a good idea. According to KAGS, Vincent Oggero, of College Station, Texas, learned this lesson the hard way after being charged with filing a false police report late last week. The incident occurred on February 11, when Oggero reportedly tried to pull a prank on his friends as they were leaving a restaurant. The joke? A terrifying message written on their receipt, alleging that he was a victim of kidnapping. After he and his party left, restaurant staff found Oggero's note, which read, "I NEED HELP I got kidnapped" in addition to a phone number. Presumably, the 19-year-old Oggero did not imagine his prank would lead to such serious repercussions.

Buddies would always joke to each other when starting any sentence, "did you hear about Kurt? All you need to know, is that guns were involved."
Said that in public at a bar a few days after it happened, and you would have thought I was going to destroy the world or something. I even got challenged to fight with someone in college (I was in my 30's) but buddies stood up behind me when words started flying, and the guy turned pale and walked away.
Bad thing is that I had to pick up the next round of drinks, even though I didn't ask, they just voted unanimously and my bar tab immediately grew. Yup, my friends, anything for a free drink.

I love that video! I've seen 'em do it on a metal chimney cap. Flickers, like the one in that video, really love it. People think they're being dumb pounding on metal, and they don't understand these are territorial/mating calls. Two best ringtones I've heard. First, was my former boss' cel phone. When his wife would call, it would play the Imperial March from one of the Star Whores movies. She was not pleased when this was disclosed. Funniest of all though, I was in line a pizza joint. Lady in line behind me, her fone blew up. In the voice of Stewie from Family Guy, doing the "mommy! mom! momma! mommy! mother! mom! mommy! near-endless plaintive wail of comedic mirth and (barely) exaggerated display of infantile will.
Best prank of a ring tone though, I got a friend's teen daughter to snag me the password to her daddy's phone. Which soon had a rich, wet-fart ringtone for all incoming calls. We let him off the hook in only two calls, but after 10 minutes of laughing!

One standard definition is a song by a single act that makes the Top 40, and that act never makes the Top 100 ever again.
The definition of "act" is tricky as well. Example, singer under his own name meets the OHW, but yet has other hits singing for different group.
All that complicates the precise definition.

The double sink just fell (initial report). "What fresh insane hell"-initial telephone analysis.
It turned out that the sink had little or no support from beneath-it had simply hung from the countertop with glue, that gave way. This was not even half-assed installation, it way maybe 1/64 assed at best.
So, I took the jack from the car and used that to restore the sink and disposal to proper position, for now.

Hey, things can get better. I had spinal fusion on Mon, felt great when posted on the Mon ONT. A big part of that was the surgery drugs.
Since then yeesh a lot of pain, got behind on the pain drugs. But it's mainly incision pain, this should be a great improvement. At 65 I was getting to where I could hardly walk. Had to be done.

True enough, but I'm gonna argue that any such definition that excludes Roy Clark, who had his first professional gig in 1947, and continued until near the end of his life in 2018, is a crap definition. A 71 year career is not what most people think of when they think of "one hit wonders".

No one forgot about. Gravity does indeed "slow light down", at least the coordinate speed. Standard General Relativity. Take the simplest Schwarzschild exterior metric. The radial coordinate speed of light is c*(1 - R/r), where r is the radius, and R is 2GM/c^2, the Schwarzschild radius.
Tangential speed takes out a square root of that factor.
You'll see "light stops" at the event horizon.
But that's merely a coordinate. The local speed of light as measured by *any* local observer using his own natural ruler and clock will always be 'c'. That is what is meant by constant light speed.
Or in geometric terms, light follows a null path through spacetime. In flat space time, that null path has a speed of c everywhere and always. In curved spacetime, it does not.

No one knows. Basically as Wheeler, one of the high priests of General Relativity (and coauthor of the Bible on the subject, "Gravitation" or simple "MTW", for Misner, Thorne, and Wheeler), said, spacetime tells matter how to move, and matter tells spacetime how to curve.
General Relativity tells you how that matter does that. That is, how to calculate what it does. It doesn't tell you why.
No theory can ever tell you why, only what and how.
Indeed, even the notion of "curvature of spacetime" is nothing but a mathematical metaphor. The mathematics of differential geometry is useful in predicting how gravity works. But is there anything "really curving"?
And it doesn't even matter.

The way it works, at least with the Brits (mostly) is that a wife gets all the status of the husband. So woman marries a duke, she's a duchess. But it doesn't go the other way. Some dude marries a duchess, he ain't a duke.
The biggest example is the wife of a king is a queen (consort). She gets "your majesty". But the husband of queen regnant, just as Philip to QEII, ain't nothing but what she gives him. There ain't no such thing as a king consort.
QE II's daddy made Philip a Duke upon his marriage to her. She made him a prince when she ascended to the throne.
As Philip himself quipped when some reporter asked him about how he view his "constitutional role", he replied, "Constitutionally, I don't exist."
So, I'll be like Philip and wear the mantle of constitutional nonexistence.
