55 Love Bierstadt's paintings. This one isn't on the heroic scale as many others but it is such a pleasure to view. The greens that make up most of the scene contrast, gently, with blue and white of the sky. The image is intimate, pleasant and restful. The viewer can feel the gentle warmth of a mountain summer day. I would put this on the wall any time.

65 I spent 8 years in California. You get away from the cities and it's wonderful. But you need to get where you can't easily drive to get away from the idiots. And you need to stay out of the areas where there are deer during deer season as some of those fucking idiots shoot all over the place. And stay out of the mountains when it snows as the imbeciles from Los Angeles will cause huge traffic jams on the roads just to see some snow. My vocabulary is too limited to actually describe how much L.A. sucks. It sucks muchly.

101 Shhh. Listen to the painting. I know you aren't actually there, but if the tree falls we should settle the debate once and for all.

The painting looks kind of fuzzy and green. This use of sfumato de Kermit lends a certain verdant, almost mossy quality to the work.

Also, I once had a morning long debate with a co worker buddy about the MSDS sheets. Which should really be MSD sheets as the second "s" stands for sheets. I was indeed being redundant. I will now admit that after the first five minutes I was just screwin' with him.

216 I really think we're reacting in the wrong way. We should keep pushing the left further and further.

For example, my neighbor complained of the 'litter' all over the neighborhood. A conservative organization had printed, bagged, and placed a free newspaper on everyone's porch.

We told her that the threat is real and she should call the police immediately and get in touch with her local FBI office.

Make fools of them.

And I live in a fairly conservative town and county but it's still too close to the Dem shitholes and I think once they start and burn their town down they will start taking their show on the road.

Posted by: Mister Scott (formerly GWS) at April 21, 2021 09:54 AM (JUOKG)

Well, one would hope, but it was pointed out in the LI article I read that virtually all employment contracts today include a prohibition on using your work computer, address, etc. to conduct any kind of political activity, donations, etc. and can result in termination. Apparently this cop included comments with his donation that organized police are supportive of Kyle Rittenhouse, etc.

He was reassigned when this was initially disclosed via the hack to a paperwork assignment, then after review, the lawyers for the department recommended termination. it wasn't a simple , "your fired" situation, there was review involved.

When he was fired was he explicitly told that he was fired for donating to Kyle and for his comments of support for Kyle?

435 402,
Jen, the issue with wrongful termination is if the punishment does not fit the crime. If the department has others such as expressing support for BLM, etc. using official work computers, etc., and did not terminate those individuals but instead did some sort of punishment like a written reprimand, then the government is engaged in viewpoint discrimination which is not allowed under the 1st Amendment.

There is also whether or not the proper procedures were followed in the employee handbook regarding counseling, etc. for job related punishments. Public employees have a property right as well as a liberty right, (property right has stronger protections than does liberty rights) and cannot be terminated without proper procedures which the LI article is unclear as to whether or not that happened.

Prediction, if he sues, the department will settle in an undisclosed matter.

453 441, The public sector does not always get the best attorneys as it is often a matter of patronage rather than ability, especially in local government. The issue is that public sector lawyers fear getting fired for displeasing their political masters more than getting fired over giving in to their masters but losing lawsuits.

The costs in the first condition are personal to the lawyer, the costs to the second condition are apportioned to the taxpaying public.

The smart and able lawyers are able to make more on the outside than in. Many able ones quit government service and go into private practice when their ten years required for public service student loan repayment is done.
