Consider the left's position on this instead - if you wanted to make people leery of taking an experimental "vaccine" I couldn't imagine a better way then this vaccine passport idea.
I get a flu shot regularly, because it was tested and we know the short and long term affects.
When the FedGov holds a gun to your head though to get a vaccine at the same time they import people without it and send them throughout the country though?

FBI has actually done some good work (I know I know, boo FBI) in ballistics and for handgun caliber you want something that's going to penetrate 12" to 18" on average and expand as much as possible (while staying in one piece).
If you look at this chart, PMC 95gr Starfire behaves like a FMJ and has fantastic penetration, but its performance in this test is considered sub-optimal because it has so little expansion.

Ballistic gel tests have been pretty decent but little on the street evidence about the effectiveness in pistol bullets.
The old standard .380 bullets in hollowpoint did not expand well. At that point, many simply used full metal jacket bullets to get the needed penetration. Thus, when .380 pistols became popular again, .380 ammo makers stepped up their game.

Yep. .380 is marginal as a self defense caliber, but if it's all you can carry due to clothing or whatever, that's the round of choice.
Also, to anyone who argues that, "Shot placement is key. Yada yada." Sure, granted, but if you're a perfect trick shooter, a .22 short in the eye will stop a bull elephant. That doesn't mean it's a good carry round for those of us shooting center mass because adrenaline kills our small motor skills and we're happy to get five in the t zone.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable field the 270 part. But for .22 LR, the gold standard is CCI Minimags. I like the 40 grain round nose. But any CCI .22 ammo is going to be good.
Winchester 36 grain was highly praised by a moron last week, I believe as well.

He barely beat Beto the year that Abbott the squish romped to victory. And Cruz didn't even seem to realize there was a problem. When people started pointing out the enthusiasm gap, signaled by yard signs, for example, Cruz's surrogates just brushed it off. Maybe he'll get lucky and have a less appealing opponent next time, but I doubt Texas's demographics in general will be more favorable in future elections.

So I would value expansion a bit more heavily myself.

Yeah I don't know about that. I hate NY. But it has some of the best hospitals in the world. Ditto. Some of the other places like the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic etc. Florida gets nailed a lot due to the large elderly population. You have to be careful about that type of factor. They are getting better, especially northern Florida- and that's a good thing. But they're not top 10 yet.

I've never own .22s before, and my goal is for my son to pick his favorite as his graduation present. All three have scopes (is this normal?), and the BSA fowling piece has a part missing. It may be relegated to display only, but it is a 100 year old weapon.

But I never sensed that he was electable at the national level. I knew McCain and Romney were snakes and were gonna get curb stomped. I think Sen. Cruz is a little too "churchy" for some non-trivial proportion of the electorate, sadly.
Of course mass electoral fraud, voting fraud, has made this stuff moot going forward.

Before that. TX had a Republican governor in Bill Clements, 1979-1983 and 1987-1991. The first cracks truly began to show in the 1970s when Republicans began willing local Sheriff's races on law-and-order platforms. (Hmmm. It could be tried now I suspect in other places.) I'm trying to think of the first time a Republican presidential candidate won the state. It could be 1972 with Nixon.

On revolvers, as long as the ammo is in spec, it is okay whatever the bullet profile is. But, wad cutters or semi wadcutters are the most effective in lead, and a variety of profiles in jacketed hollowpoint work okay and the Federal 130 grain HST Micro is one of the most audicious hollowpoints of all and best performing out of small barrels.

But for .22 LR, the gold standard is CCI Minimags. I like the 40 grain round nose. But any CCI .22 ammo is going to be good.
Winchester 36 grain was highly praised by a moron last week, I believe as well.

And stay far far away from any Remington rimfire ammo, except for when you want to practice failure drills. My 22s will digest virtually anything I feed them with what I'd estimate as 95% plus reliability (and rotating the round for a refire gets the rest), but I'm lucky to get above 75% with Remington. And refires almost never work.
Their rimfire priming is shit.

The second one translates to potential electability issues even if they ought to like him more than they do.
Cornyn gets slagged here all the time. And her deserves it. But you'll note he won comfortably in 2020, and the Dems did not even try and mount the same big out-of-state funded campaign against him that they did Cruz. Nor did Cornyn face a significant primary. Cruz has vulnerabilities in Texas that Cornyn doesn't, whether that's just or not. Over the next four years, we're likely to get more Dem voters here due to Texas's economy and possibly due to amnesty. If Dems can rustle up a decent candidate (and Beto wasn't that great really) raise a lot of out-of-state money again in 2024, Cruz could see a competitive race. Lots of variables. But none of that is "whining, screaming, tantrum throwing."

That said, I have a plea for DeSantis, from someone who does not live in Florida: don't run for president. Don't bow to popular pressure and throw your hat into the ring. Learn from Trump. A president is useless. The federal government is no place for an honorable man or a reformer. You and men like you are far more valuable and far more important right where you are: running states, going toe-to-toe with the Feds, and defending your people. Stay where you are, keep doing the right things, keep fighting, and build a sanctuary. Be the bulwark against which the federal ship will smash itself.

As President Trump has shown, there are a multitude of enemies in DC and precious few allies. And even some allies are fair weather friends. Let's hope DeSantis secures his state against all abuses by the Feds and let FL serve as a model for other states on how to fight back. Only with functioning state governments with the will to fight can we hope to bring us back from the brink.
