The Morning Report - 3/18/21 [J.J. Sefton]

zhivaust.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and the move to now purge not only the officer corps but even more alarmingly, the ranks of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines of anyone in uniform down to the lowliest buck private whom the illegal junta in DC views as a threat to their power remains the top story. All the other insanity, from the border to political/cultural persecution and violence, to the looting of the treasury, the dismantling of any form of checks and balances, the corruption of our judicial and law enforcement institutions, the emboldening of our enemies abroad, to the brainwashing of yet another generation of our children, and everything else in between are all crucially important. But this massive multi-headed hydra of turmoil and chaos is ultimately going to cause a complete collapse of our society, as whatever gossamer-thin strands of restraint are ripped away. The way things are shaking out on all fronts, it seems as if it's just around the corner as we are definitely moving from the "slowly" phase to the "all at once."

And that leaves only the military left to restore some sort of order. The question is, what sort of order? All indications are that it's going to be an order of the "New World" variety.

Recently, my Navy unit held an "extremism stand-down" training that was required of all Department of Defense personnel, as mandated by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin here. According to Vice Admiral John B. Nowell, Jr, the purpose of the training was "to ensure service members and civilian personnel clearly understand the damaging effects of extremism and begin developing more effective, sustainable ways to eliminate the corrosive impacts extremist activity can have on our Force."

That aim, of course, is laudable...

...But that's not actually what the training says. The training we received this month was rushed through in the wake of the Washington, D.C., riot. The course, which was given in a PowerPoint deck, included a slide defining "extremism." One would expect a broad, catch-all phrase that makes it clear that any radical activity undermining our nation or promoting criminal activity would not be tolerable.

But that would be wrong. Extremism was narrowly defined as "supremacist" beliefs only. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing about anarchism, nothing about any group that might be found on the left. Everyone in the room -- of every race, incidentally -- had a collective hush as the chilling effect of this clearly biased definition dawned on our teamAs one person on our team put it, "Why does the DoD only care about one kind of extremism? Why do they refuse to talk about antifa? Why is it extremist to attack a Capitol police officer, but not extremist to attack a Portland police officer?"...

Throughout the presentation, the drumbeat was consistent, constant... and chilling. This was a shot across the bow to the right, and deafening silence for the left. As true Americans, committed to our fellow servicemen and women, we should reject all extremism unequivocally from any source. My concern is that this blatantly political training is not only bad, it's counter-productive. Extremists feed on paranoia, and the Department of Defense just fed them a healthy dose of it.

What do they think these people will do? Quit? Because some admiral made them sit through three hours of lectures? Hardly. They'll go underground. And they'll continue to fester.

With all due respect to the author, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get me. Let me state, yet again and clearly: there are no extremists on our side of the ledger. Indeed, there is no right-center-left paradigm. To accept that is to accept the equivalency meme and I utterly reject it. It is, as Mark Levin put it, Liberty vs. Tyranny. For lack of a better descriptor, the Left are the tyrants. It is the Left that exclusively uses violence - along with subversion, propaganda, intimidation and outright lies - as a tool to advance its political agenda. Always has, always will. Every rotten, horrible, inexcusable episode, all the misery, suffering and pain experienced by the citizenry throughout our nation's now finished history is the fault of the Left. But I'm going off on a tangent.

The salient point is the question of how those of us who have not been drummed out of the service on trumped-up charges of "insurrection" for being Trump supporters, white, Judeo-Christian, male-male, female-female, pro-America as founded or otherwise "normal" when push comes to shove will react. When an illegal and immoral order is given by a superior officer, who will refuse and who will claim later "I was only following orders?" That, of course, presupposes a reckoning at a future date by something resembling a restored constitutional republic. And from where I sit, that scenario is very much in doubt. UPDATE: just commented that "Just as the mask edicts are meant to identify those refusing to wear them as potential troublemakers, I imagine the military is going to institute more and more regulations that are designed to spot potential "troublemakers" as well. By troublemakers, I mean those who will not blindly obey illegal or immoral orders.

For every monstrosity the Democrats drag forth before the public, they are pursuing another hundred out of the spotlight within the labyrinthine administrative state that makes law while no-one is looking. This administration is relentless in pursuing bad policies that hurt Americans and erode further the few constitutional bonds that keep the nation intact.

Which leads to a painful possibility:

I find myself asking the same questions millions of Americans now ask themselves: given this campaign of outright hostility toward the American people and general dereliction of duty to protect and defend the states, is the American government intentionally trying to provoke civil conflict? Are all these horrendous policies leading to armed confrontation against red state holdouts? Has D.C. transformed the Iraq War's "Preemptive War" Doctrine into a plan of action against its own citizens?...

...Now that the pretext of using troops to put down MAGA "insurrectionists" has been established, it will be ignominiously used to justify military support for confiscating guns, enforcing extended pandemic lockdowns, and identifying Americans too attached to the Bill of Rights. (The fact that Sundance [at The Conservative Treehouse] chose the Ides of March to outline the likelihood of such an intimate betrayal by the military against the states is, I suspect, no coincidence for a meticulous writer who enjoys reaching readers on an emotional, as well as an intellectual, level.)

What really caught my eye, though, was the way commenters responded to the article: they almost universally agreed that the U.S. military could no longer be trusted and that it should instead be viewed as yet another institution successfully co-opted by the Democrats to push "woke" socialism, enforce commie cancel culture, and punish conservatives. Just as James Comey's spying on the Trump campaign and Robert Mueller's Democrat-led Russia collusion investigation destroyed the reputations of the FBI and DOJ, and just as John Brennan's public disinformation and propaganda leaks designed to take down President Trump forever politicized the CIA, now Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's decision to go after and eliminate Trump voters in the military's ranks has dramatically weakened the public's trust in the military...

If these questions don't haunt the men and women now holding the reins of government in D.C., then they are monumental fools on at least two levels: (1) they have deceived themselves into believing that some chimerical international government will provide global peace and security in the years to come; and (2) they have forgotten so much of American history that they actually believe American patriots can be subdued and brought to heel without causing much of a stir.

The first failure reflects profound ignorance; the second failure reflects profound hubris. And taken together, these Democrat delusions will deliver a profound American tragedy.

Portland Already Sees Surge in Murders in 2021, Public Tires of Antifa Violence

I've called this previously. Look at Baltimore that is in these cities futures. Before their stupid race riots and after there is a noticeable increase in murders. Without looking I want to say that pre and post years the numbers are increase by at least another 100. Oh but other crimes are down. Which is complete bullshit. Reporting other crimes are down. It's hard to hide the dead bodies so those get reported. Other stuff? Why call the cops that you were just mugged when you've been told they won't respond or do anything by the city officials.

Anyone who thought the Long March was somehow going to bypass the military is an overly sentimental fool.

The Marxists have won, for now. They command every institution of the Fed.Gov that matters, the bureaucracies of every state, academia, every form of media save maybe talk radio and podcasts, Big Tech, Big Biz in general, etc.

For 60+ years, "standing athwart history yelling STOP" accomplished fuck-all. Literally nothing was "stopped".

It's long past time for a new strategy.

This is what is really frightening. During the Obama regime, their Dear leader tried to sound moderate and usually did if you didn't pay too much attention like the LIV's and wine mom's. But if you looked right below the surface at the people he appointed and then a couple more layers down and what they were doing it was a sickening Hard left, insanity everywhere, especially at the DOJ. I'm sure it is far worse now since even the public image is hard left.

There was some psychology experiment, decades ago, on a college campus, iirc. 'Volunteers' were subjected to painful electric shocks administered by other students, who could actually watch as they pressed a button and tortured the volunteer. The experiment had to be ended because while the expectation was that people had empathy for others, the reality was that the desire to inflict pain on others was off the chart. One could perhaps make the argument that college students are overwhelmingly of the leftist persuasion.

This is the age we live in. Empathy is not reality.

41 We're getting down to it now.

For a decade, I've watched various folks here defend - tooth and nail - their cherished institutions regardless of what they do. The FBI was just "a few bad apples at the top". Blue city police departments were just "good rank and file cops under bad mayors". And of course, the constant drumbeat of "Obama ruined everything".

It was all bullshit. People do as they wish. If a cop or an agent follow bad orders - they are as much responsible. They are the tip of the spear. "I just did as I was told" didn't work at Nuremberg. It didn't work for Calley in 'Nam. Its not going to fly now. And defending those people only enables them. The FBI and some police corrupted so far, in no small part, thanks to those that defending them every step of the way - even as those institutions turned on their most loyal apologists.

Congrats, CivNats everywhere. That corruption has now breached your last - and most favorite - power structure of all. Behold the power of a fully functional Leftist Military.

They are not equipped generally to deal with carefully crafted jedi-mind tricks and coordinated propaganda. 66 Fresh Hell, indeed. *pauses to consider the implications of the word 'indeed'*

A deed is the statement of the exact particulars of a piece of personal ownership. When we say "life, liberty, or happiness" we are discussing a compromise, that of property. Because the correlation of 'property' and 'happiness' WAS heavily debated in the Federalist Papers.

I consider the two ideas interchangeable. So did many of our Founders. We have drifted so far...

69 Part of the problem is most decent, ordinary people are busy and just trying to get through the day.

Most 1930s Germans were just decent, ordinary people. Yet they went along to get along. They turned in a few Jews. They soldiered when told.

Those decent, ordinary people will turn you in to save their own ass. And they'll continue to provide the peer pressure to discourage anyone from swimming against the tide. Just as they're doing now.

We apologize for too many people who's actions will, if everything goes to its logical conclusion, eventually find some of us in a cell.

74 Our area took in a large cohort of Bosnians. It is a mix, like everybody else. There are a proportion of scammers and bad eggs. There are also some very high quality individuals. Americans have had it way too easy for too long. I include myself in that category.

One thing that struck me is how "American" some of them look. Their kids, children pick up new languages easily, would be impossible to tell they were foreign born. It occurred to me back in the Cold War, if the Soviets wanted to deploy sleeper cells or Manchurian type candidates, that would have been the ethnic group to use. There is no way people would believe they aren't born and raised here, at least visually.

Ethnically, as a group they are caucasians that had the misfortune of being overun by moslem invasions and were forcibly converted. Most don't seem to be particularly "observant" by any stretch.

And I'm quite certain they are alarmed and wondering if they've just jumped from the firing pan into the fire. They've seen this movie before. I guarantee you they know how to deal with it 100 percent better than most.

78 i read a lot of humans fuck yeah on reddit for fun. and one thing i've noticed in those stories that tends to be a common theme, and it's been repeated here a lot, is that people - especially on our side - don't act, until they do.

there is a VERY large reserve of caution, patience, tolerance, or what have you but when the damn breaks, it breaks suddenly and with a ferocity that is unexpected and severe. it's typically couched as " we don't go to war because we know what we are actually capable of" and that would be why we give so much. until we hit a breaking point.

I am thinking / hoping that the same is true of the actually American conservatives who love the country and want her restored. we ARE going to put up with a lot more than we should, as we figure we CAN survive in a lot of environments.

until one day we have been pushed to the point we can no longer abide. at which point it gets UGLY fast...

79 One day Jesus told his disciples a stor to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must never give up. "There was a judge in a certain city," he said, "who was a godless man with great contempt for everyone. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly appealing for justice against someone who had harmed her. The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she wore him out. 'I fear neither God nor man,' he said to himself, 'but this woman is driving me crazy. I'm going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests."

Then the Lord said, "Learn a lesson from this evil judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end, so don't you think God will surely give just to his chosen people who plead with him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when I, the Son of Man, return, how man will I find who have faith?"

81 This is what is really frightening.

The one being zapped was a paid actor and they ran the experiment over and over, in many places, with the ultimate conclusion being that "I vas just following...orders!" is a legit psychological phenomenon. IIRC they were actually hoping to disprove that because ermagerd Nazis, so nobody came away from it getting what they wanted.

Most of the participants did question their role in the experiment, but they still pushed the zap button as instructed.

100 But that would be wrong. Why is it extremist to attack a Capitol police officer, but not extremist to attack a Portland police officer?"
++++
I don't know whether the author or the other students asked all the rhetorical questions to which everyone knows the answers, but I don't really see the value in such exercises at this point. There is nothing left to think about. "Extremism" has completed its first pivot and anything that is anti-Left is now "extreme." The next pivot, which is underway, will be that anything non-Left is "extreme." The final pivot will be that anything not vocally pro-Left is "extreme." That is when your silence formally becomes violence.

And the rank-and-file *will* enforce those pivots on you.

She advised whoever *was* going to do the scene of her concern, for which she was viciously attacked and advised to kill herself - which she did. This occurred about three years ago.

Fast forward to the current legislation about to be enacted, which would now make it illegal - in name of 'civil rights' - for her to refuse to surrender her body and health to another person.

It's sick and it has to end.

106 If these questions don't haunt the men and women now holding the reins of government in D.C., then they are monumental fools on at least two levels: (1) they have deceived themselves into believing that some chimerical international government will provide global peace and security in the years to come; and (2) they have forgotten so much of American history that they actually believe American patriots can be subdued and brought to heel without causing much of a stir.
++++
I envy the author's optimism and, perhaps, ignorance. Neither point is valid. One at a time:
1. *They* will be the enforcement arm in the New Era of Cooperation. Not some chimerical pan-national assembly or bureaucracy. Sure, such a thing will exist but the boots-on-the-ground enforcement will be their mission and they will carry it out to protect the superstate. The superstate will not protect them, only offer them cover.
2. This is a very open question. We aren't in America, we're in Post-America. We're not in the past, we're in the present. I think it is more than possible that we already went down, and there will be very little noise.

The rank-and-file are probably trustworthy, at least for now. The commanders are not and largely haven't been seen Obama started his silent purge. Now they're purging the rank-and-file. The open question is not about whether organizationally the armed forces are still on our side - they clearly are not. The open question is whether diabolical orders would be followed by the rank-and-file. I'd say the odds are better than a coin toss that they wouldn't be. Give it two years, though, and this will unlikely be true as the purge of the rank-and-file and the new recruitment rules percolate through the system.

I worked with a family of Bosnian that came here in the 90's and settled in the local Bosnian refugee community. Tried teaching them English, helped find work, do paperwork, shopping etc... Very good, hardworking people that had to flee a disastrous situation. All Muslims but mostly in name only, few seemed interested in religion. We could use more immigrants like that instead of third world peasants. (Also a lot of very attractive women)

Think of all the law enforcement ordered to stand by as people were getting their heads bashed in by thugs and property and business burned. They were "just following orders".

That is exactly what happened in Germany in the 1930s, and a gazillion other leftist shit holes over the years. People want to keep their jobs, and their pensions, and ultimately don't want to end up in a ditch. I'm not excusing anybody, but it explains how this shit happens. Every time.

The Founders understood that property ownership brings happiness and importantly, responsibility. Citizens are only such when they are invested in the society. Interesting notion of "war on the states"

German states such as Prussia and Bavaria traditionally held a good deal of power over the central government, including police power. One of the first acts of the the Nazi seizure of power was virtual erasure of state borders and elimination of state police forces. All police power was held by Goering in Berlin, of course until the vast network they eventually created.

This manifestly true in the West. Ultimately, though, if you're looking for the philosophical basis, this won't do. It works right now, but if you want to be able to preemptively detect which ideas are going to coalesce on the side of tyranny, a slightly broader context might be necessary.

I would propose "utopianism" as the initial categorization filter. Anything that is a utopian ideal or has utopian goals goes on the "tyranny" side of the ledger. Whether it is contemporary leftism (all of the Critical Theory and Marxist stuff is utopian) or some form of hypothetical rightist utopian fantasy (free trade at all costs comes to mind, as do men (sort of, anyway) like Cromwell), that is what I see as the key factor that should lead to classification.

False. The real goal of cancel culture - cancel culture itself being a manifestation of its totalitarian underpinnings - is to compel *you* to repeat things that you know are lies, and as such to destroy your self-esteem and make you compliant.

You defused the Iraq-Iran-Saudi hate triangle that was eventually going to catalyze a global resource war that may well have gone nuclear.

It is unfortunate, and frankly quite shameful, that those who hold the reins of power and make these sorts of decisions are so smug and arrogant that they continue to avoid any honest discussion of how the Iraqi sausage got made. Their actions really do call into question the validity of what was done, and it's all their own damn fault for assuming that everyone who didn't go to an elite university is a doddering fool. Of course, as we see with various GOPe grifting sprees already starting up right after they actively sabotaged the one guy who actually did make a real attempt to roll back some of the collectivist stupidity, they have learned nothing...

Using guns as an example, the wrong way to go about it looks like this:
Left: All guns should be confiscated, tomorrow! And their owners sent to one of those camps!
Right: Umm, yeaahh, we think maybe that's a little bit much? I mean guns are really important to people, maybe we should step back and think about this?
Left: Well, that's what we want...but we'll settle for banning certain types of guns and maybe take them away from 'mentally ill' people as defined by us. And we'll revisit this debate in a couple of years to see how its going, deal?

The right way to go about it looks like this:
Left: All guns should be confiscated, tomorrow! And their owners sent to one of those camps!
Right: Fuck you, war. Anyone who gets a driver's license should be required to own a gun. In fact, the drivers license should *BE* the gun. Liquor stores and airports full of true patriots producing their AR-15s for an ID check, it will be magnificent!
Left: ...
Right: ...
Left: ...maybe this one is best left alone?
Right: Agreed.

Great story about Ft. Bliss...

I did my training at Bliss. Back in the olden days, night vision was rare and expensive. We went into class one day and spent the entire morning learning why you don't take the cover off of the NV device in the daylight. After lunch, we returned for a refresher session on the same subject, then out to the vehicles.

In the first five minutes, you guessed it, one of our guys rips the cover off of the night vision scope. A puff of green smoke and tens of thousands of dollars worth of ruined technology was ready for the trash.

Just another day in the military.

194 The best Uber driver I ever had was a Bosnian guy, for a very long ride. Probably my longest ever Uber ride.

Dude spoke nearly perfect English. Told me I could smoke in the car, as it was such a long ride, and joined me (absolutely not allowed normally!)

He kept me laughing the whole way, such a funny and engaging guy, but at one point told me with so much pride in his voice that his son had joined Little League and brought home an A in English on his report card. "I am so proud! He is all-American boy! You give me feest bump, Guy?"

Hell yeah I did. And I gave him a very big tip and told him to take his son out for a treat after a game on me.

And this is the gist of my comments upthread. His faction of the Democrat party, the true communists in our midst, utilized everything at their disposal to upend the country, to radically transform it. Maybe they didn't put the mechanisms in place, but that doesn't matter now. BAMN, they embedded themselves and his transformation is happening. I don't give him as much credit as you, lazy b*stard that his is, but here again, it's his iteration of the D party that brought us to this point.

The fact we're asking the question is rather pitiful. And the fact that we're in this position after winning in 2016 is just as pitiful. Call me a troll all you want. Trump missed his opportunity -- the last opportunity for America. He gave every indication that he understood the perils, with Steven Miller and Steve Bannon writing his speeches. His Gettysburg speech in October 2016 was a near declaration of war against the deep state. He had a mandate. And then there was Sessions and a whole string of flabbergastingly bad appointments and endless fandango of schmoozing and farcical attempts of dealmaking with RINOs and democrats then the monotonous cute names for enemies who wanted to slit his throat. Love the guy, and think he was an economic genius, but man did he miss his moment. Two months after his presidency and the nation is on the brink -- exactly as I predicted two years ago.

I say this only in my wish that our side would truly apprehend the Left, the war we're in (and have been in for 50 years), and what it means to be a warrior.

The way I think about this is just compare where we were 20 years ago.

No gay marriage, no tranny stuff, no "hate whitey", and a $2T federal budget. Supporting that is *centerist*.

But yes we are far off the traditional paradigm since the current governing party is neo-feudalist and fairly open about it. The Democrats of 2001 were at least nominally about "helping the little guy". Yes I know it was bullshit then - it was all about graft. But the Democrats of 2021 formally want to take away "the little guy's" job, car, gun, and ship him off to a re-education camp.

But the other part of this is that the mega-rich formally took control of the Dems/GOPe. Bezos, Soros, Steyer, are so rich that making more money is somewhat academic. As a Trump supporter from the jump, I agree with you. It may turn out that his worse error was revitalizing the military, which seems poised to become little more than a trashy, tranny-filled Wermacht that can't win wars but excels at terrorizing citizens. But, in fairness, the only way Trump could be elected was to run under the banner of a major party, and he chose the one led by cowards and grifters who at least pretend to like Americans. The outcome was preordained. The United States is too broken to be repaired.

So what to do? Give the central government nothing and take everything you can from it. Undermine the USG in a y way that doesn't result in your death or imprisonment. Detach and live among your own. If stormtroopers threaten you or your family, you know how to respond, and remember where the tyranny emanated.

It's only going to become worse, and the Banana Empire will lash out against its serfs even more as it unravels. Accept it and plan to prevail.

He included a prayer we could use. First of all, he didn't wait for all the facts, he just assumed it was racially motivated because that's what the MSM says. Secondly, every week in the church I serve we pray for healing in our country and that we regard everyone of every race as created by God and that we don't judge people based on their skin color. So I don't really need to use the prayer he wrote.

So I am debating if I should e-mail him about this or just keep a low profile and let it go,

321 317 However mean Trump's tweets were it seems to me that Joe Biden is character far meaner, nastier, unpleasant and brutish than Trump has ever been.
I understand the media covered all that up.

At least Biden calling people Neanderthals wasn't in a tweet!

Exactly right, Marcus. Until the lives of the Ruling Class become miserable, too, this will continue. The "how" is the question.

That's the crazy part. Biden is a horrible, horrible man. He always has been.

Remember when Trump paid off the mortgage of that woman?

Remember when Biden got out of the limo and told the bum he'd left his wallet at home when he gave him a quarter?

He's talking about the 17 black people who shot folks in Atlanta during that same time period, right?

327 No; He doesn't mention those killings except that he deplores violence and I think he's on board with some gun control. He's a Democrat-just not an entirely lunatic one.

328 So what is the condition of Venezuela today? Are they a failing, flailing socialist disaster or a vibrant, forward looking socialist success?

That's sweet to think, but if he's a Democrat and voting Democrat he supports the lunacy. At the very minimum he's pro abortion, pro crime, and believes black people are socially and mentally incapable of doing the things average white people can do.

Since the guy himself said it was about his sex addiction wouldn't a prayer for people to not give in to temptation and to find healthy ways to deal with and overcome them be a lot better.

I bet if you emailed him and pointed that out he'll tell you that you are wrong and it was racially motivated.

331 I absolutely hate that scene in Doctor Zhivago. Such betrayal, and the destruction it reaped on this world is still being felt today. As for the training documents, I would remind people to read the Mencken quote at the top again, and realize how quickly such a time approaches.

Well, I don't actually know who he voted for. It's not my business. I am technically still a DINO although I haven't voted for Democrats since Obama ran for office, so I wouldn't assume that just because someone is a Democrat they support this stuff.

My question was more about if this was your "CEO" (He's not my immediate off site supervisor. He's the local denominal head, but he knows who I am would you write or say nothing?

Trump won. Trump won the shit out of the election. It's why five states stopped counting because a toilet wouldn't flush in Atlanta.

342 When the Command-in-chief is Joe Biden, why would anybody trust the U.S. military? I mean, there are certainly individuals in the military I would trust, but when they are acting under the auspices of the military, they must obey their commanders. You can't trust them to act in favor of the people rather than the Commander-in-chief.
