Citing Sexual Assault Allegations -- But Not Proven Murders -- Communist NYC Mayor DiBlasio "Calls" for Cuomo to Resign

The specific allegation that the governor called an employee of his -- someone who he had power over -- called them to a private place and then sexually assaulted her, is absolutely unacceptable. It is disgusting to me," the mayor said during his daily press COVID-19 briefing. "He can no longer serve as governor anymore. It's as simple as that," the mayor added.DiBlasio did allude to the "nursing home scandal" -- but not to the fact that Cuomo murdered 15,552 people. No, he's just complaining about the bureaucratic deception of hiding the numbers of the people Cuomo killed:
"So many people died in nursing homes. We don't have the truth about that," de Blasio said.Eh, maybe he means to lightly allude to the mass murder as well. Good piece at The Federalist: The scandal isn't just that Cuomo (and Murphy of NJ, Wolfe of PA, and Whitmer of MI) killed the elderly. It's why. It was always about keeping low-paying poor old people out of the hospitals, so that they could make more money.
In New York, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania, nursing homes were required or encouraged to admit COVID-positive patients. The COVID-positive patients then spread the disease to the rest of the residents, and group and nursing homes became epicenters for COVID-19 cases and deaths. Leftists try to brush this logic aside, but a report found a direct correlation between patients discharged by hospitals and COVID-19 cases. In Cuomo's New York, at the height of the pandemic on March 25, the State Health Department "compelled nursing homes to accept patients who had tested positive for coronavirus." The policy was pushed by the non-profit hospital association, the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA). New York had recently cut Medicaid funding due to budget issues, and given Medicaid is already chronically underfunded, it is possible that hospitals were losing money or at best barely breaking even on poor and indigent COVID-19 patients. Later, Cuomo's aides inserted a measure into an annual budget bill creating the nation’s most generous and explicit COVID lawsuit protections for health care and industry officials. One study claims that COVID-19 deaths were 7.5 times higher in states with such corporate legal immunity. The GNYHA is "one of the most influential forces in New York politics." Cuomo received $1 million from GNYHA in his reelection campaign, and the donation was engineered to remain secret until after his inauguration. Overall, during Cuomo's second term his campaign and his state party committee raked in more than $2.3 million from hospital donors.It gets worse:

So why doesn't the Republican Party tell this story? Maybe Republicans don't talk about this angle because they are beholden to big health care too (although Democrats are certainly more entangled than Republicans).

The hospital workers didn't want to do their jobs and treat these old, sick people. Better to turn them away and let someone else deal with them.

All I know is how many times I got called to go babysit on short notice because they were calling in extra nurses for case overloads. And how each of the ones my daughter knows, went. On a personal note, they called in nurses who currently had Covid THEMSELVES, in to work on the Covid floor. And they went. Including my daughter who was Covid positive at the time.
The nurses that are in our circle of friends would never not want to care for someone because they were old or were poor.

My daughter is the same way. She actually got her start working in a nursing home. First in dietary, then as an aide. She had even offered to go work down in FL to be near my parents to help care for my mom.
And I thank God every day for the nurses who cared for my mom during her final hours on this earth. Nurses are a special breed. Sure there are some bad apples, but there are some true angels too.

I don't have any direct contact with this stuff anymore, but it used to be hospitals HAAAATED having Medicaid patients in their beds. Medicare patients were A-OK, but only for a period of time that I don't remember, when Medicare dollars start to dry up.

1) It is conveniently targetable and will not result in any widespread changes to the status quo

I think rural/smaller city nurses differ because like my neighbor that is a RN and is still working at 76 yo, they care for people of all ages, that they know personally or at least know family/friends of the patients they care for.
In our small town we have 3 nurses 70+ still working full time. 2 work night shifts.
They are highly regarded, as are the local younger nurses and we thank our lucky stars that there are young people willing to devote themselves to nursing.

I have been having a problem with "law enforcement" in general since last year, when they made sure Trump supporters had to walk past BLM at various protests and then did nothing as the Trump supporters were assaulted. Seems to me, in many police departments, the rule of the day is let conservatives get injured but protect minorities that are causing thousands of dollars in damage. So really, I'm fine with cops.

There are two reasons. First, the ship (and the Javitz Center and the private field hospitals) were all brought out for the wrong reason. They weren't there to treat COVID patients, they were there to treat overflow patients in case the COVID patients overwhelmed the existing hospitals. This was stupid, and the temporary facilities should have been used for COVID (the sanitarium model, which has worked quite well in poorer places that implemented it, like Egypt). They couldn't be sent there because that's not what they were for because of bad policy. They also didn't need to be sent there because the hospitals weren't overwhelmed.
Second, using that capacity would have meant that Cuomo and DeBlasio needed something that the Dread Donald provisioned. They didn't want to give him a win of any kind.

I screwed that one up. I know they had several uber rich in office in the mid 90s and by a decent margin, the most millionaires. I also alluded to the fact that the Republican Speaker, Majority Leader, and Majority Whip were particularly not wealthy by US Congress standards at that time.

Essentially, Dems in those cities make no effort to determine cause and effect of government policies. They don't associate Dems in power in those cities or states with negative outcomes from policies but attribute it to situations beyond their control unless the mess becomes so bad that they are forced into recognizing it. Essentially, for liberals, the state is their religion and cannot do any wrong. They do the same sort of excuses for criminals, etc.

I don't expect his order to have much effect. Places that were mask-resistant will abandon it altogether now. But all the major urban centers, which is to say most of the state population-wise, will continue with masks through a combination of local government, businesses, and Karens.
