The Morning Report - 3/9/21 [J.J. Sefton]

yeggsham.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and where to begin?

- - A bill that effectively makes election-rigging by the Democrat/Globalist Junta on a national level an inviolable, unassailable and permanent law of the land - whatever land that may be considering the United States of America as founded died on January 6th and was embalmed on January 20th, to go with the cadaver now posing as "president,"

- - the opening of our borders to millions of impoverished peasants from south of the border, impoverished Mohammedans from the 7th century or impoverished agents of the PRC out to steal our secrets or brainwash our already considerably braindead children, on top of the soon to be amnestied 30 million or more illegal aliens already in our midst,

- - the raping of our children's children's future by adding trillions more to the national debt putatively to fight a virus that is provably only incrementally more harmful to the general population than seasonal flu,

- - the continued forced imprisonment of the population over said virus that has destroyed our economy, caused all sorts of societal and social upheavals, and traumatized us perhaps permanently,

- - the mad rush to abolish petrochemicals and coal and thereby hurtle us back in time to a bleak, miserable, Dark Age existence, naturally excluding those at the top with the whip,

- - the persecution by the junta in power of more than half the people who did not vote the right way, that is for President-in-exile Donald Trump, and the persecution by latter-day Maoist cultural revolutionaries in our businesses (what remains of them), our schools (ditto) and even in our own homes of anything and everything American, Western, Judeo-Christian, caucasian, masculine and feminine, good, decent or otherwise normal, sane and rational...

And so on, and so on, and scooby doobie doobie. This essay from David Solway at PJ Media centers around both the global warming and COVID scams but to me, the gravamen of his discourse applies to everything we are collectively (no pun) enduring and the ultimate end game of it all.

As Soviet dissident Natan Sharansky writes in his newly released memoir Never Alone, "In the West today, the pressure to conform doesn't come from the totalitarian top... Instead, it comes from the fanatics around us, in our neighborhoods, at school, at work, often using the prospect of Twitter-shaming to bully people into silence -- or a fake, politically-correct compliance."

Of course, there is pressure from the top -- from the political class, government-funded medical personnel, profiteering green-preneurs and the media, whom Boudreaux regards as "pathetically uniformed... largely innumerate and, in many cases, intellectually lazy." But the pressure comes also from the bottom and the middle, compelling conformity with climate doctrine that is destructive of the environment and economically devastating, as well as consent with [Chinese] COVID regulations envisaging years of lockdowns ahead and the collapse of society as we have known it. When a free society collectively agrees to the surrender of its freedoms, it is clearly in the grip of a cognitive fiasco of the first magnitude.

What we are observing is the shrinking of perception that comes with acquiescence to the pressures of group-think and collective mind-forming. We begin by being susceptible to repression. We proceed by accepting its diktats. We finish by experiencing a narrowing of the sensibility. Ultimately, we grow stupefied, shedding IQ points like autumn leaves. Of course, the reasons for the decline of intelligence in the West are many and varied as well as controversial, but the downward trend is well-documented. The public response to "Climate and COVID" is a sure indication of the debacle.

The emphasis above is mine. While we're dealing with all of this, which feels more like all of this is dealing with us, the one issue that seems to be concerning everyone are the travails of the dusky, dimwitted Wallace Simpson wannabe Meghan Markle. I have to feel for Queen Elizabeth. Nearly 2,000 years of history of an empire and people that shaped the world we live in snuffed out decades ago while she was sitting on the throne (an actual throne, not the can). As the jackals of globalism, Mohammedanism and Socialism rip apart whatever rotten flesh is on Albion's bones, along comes Markle. I have to believe she has had some interesting conversations with The Almighty about why He insists on keeping her alive to witness all of this. The metaphor for us on this side of the pond should be obvious.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

25 Morning everyone.

Realize it, my brethren; - every one who breathes, high and low, educated and ignorant, young and old, man and woman, has a mission, has a work. We are not sent into this world for nothing; we are not born at random; . . . God sees every one of us; He creates every soul, He lodges it in the body, one by one, for a purpose. He needs, He deigns to need, every one of us. He has an end for each of us; we are all equal in His sight, and we are placed in our different ranks and stations, not to get what we can out of them for ourselves, but to labor in them for Him. As Christ has His work, we too have ours; as He rejoiced to do His work, we must rejoice in ours also.
--St. John Henry Newman

26 So, just how likely is the passage of this historic and suicidal (for the Republic) HR1? If it passes, short of civil war, there is no return. As much as I'm familiar with politics, I get fuzzy when it comes to the importance of the filibuster. What it actually accomplishes (isn't it just a delay tactic?), what it means if it's nuked? How many senators are needed for passage? 51...60?

So. It's probably a done deal. It sounds as if we are down to the word of the Senatart Sinema.

Oh, and by the by, so far 4 Republicant Senators aren't running for reelection in 2022 -- Blunt (MO), Toomey (PA), Portman (OH), and Shelby (AL).

And civil war has broken out in the GOPe, with Trump demanding they quit using his name to raise dough, and the RNC insisting they have every right to do so. I know which one I won't be giving any cash to.

48 I watched "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" on TCM and it was part of the series on reinterpreting "problematic" movies of the past.

Even the hosts (Dave Karger, Alicia Malone, and Eddie Muller) seemed embarrassed to be doing it. Eddie the Noir guy asked why they were charging a fun, over-the-top film like "Seven Brides" with being problematic when it was obviously poking fun at the sexism of some the characters.

I usually like the host segments for their insights into the film, but this one felt like they were being held hostage in a struggle session.

The filibuster essentially prevents any legislation from reaching a vote in the Senate without 60 Ayes. This helps preserve minority power. The nuking of Senate judicial filibuster rules (first by Harry Reid, then McConnell for SC picks) led to the remake of District courts and the confirmations of Kav and Barrett.

So nuking the filibuster entirely will lead to anything the House passes can be passed by the Senate, if both are controlled by the same party. The Senate will no longer be 'the graveyard of the House'. Most House passed bills die in the Senate.

He might have to go back, but he probably will get little to no notice again. Part of the misery was being persecuted for his "non-Dem views," which is also disheartening. He was glas to be home, obviously, "with actual internet!"

I see StarLink as a middle step. It is a form of the Internet, with access to the wider Internet (as a tier-1 peer), but run by a different cabal. StarLink will have all the same flaws as the current Internet, albeit run by someone who either doesn't exploit them (unlikely) or exploits them differently (more likely). It is a necessary and hopeful middle step, but it doesn't solve the underling problem of centralized control. The better solution is probably something like IPFS, which is decentralized (though has its own problems, most notably that the entire structure is subject bifurcation or multifurcation and will often be unreliable in the specific while highly reliable in the general - but I think it is a major step in the right direction).

179 "cognitive fiasco" is right. Badlands/Breathless in the modern age

In an effort to run away, they go somewhere without any internet, and she becomes content for the first time in months without any ability to reach social media.
They settle in an abandoned house and begin to develop some level of normalcy. Next door is a newlywed couple who are there temporarily to close out the house he inherited from his newly deceased mother.
Girl and the wife begin to converse in the newlywed house. Wife has a phone with very limited internet connection through a different service from girl. Girl sneaks phone and discovers that her social media account had blown up after news has gotten out that she's involved with daring criminal Guy.

She kills the newlywed couple with Guy's gun, pretends to be his kidnap victim, and sends out help message through social media that gets her saved.

This is why the maniacal zealots of the media frighten me so much - people can say "I don't believe them" as much as they want, but when the tech companies try to destroy anyone who attempts actual journalism (Andy Ngo, James O'Keefe), they have no choice but to accept the narrative because there's no other narrative out there to compete with it.

This is just like Huxley's slave caste in "Brave New World," where the books are plentiful, but every time the slave children pick up a book, deafening sounds damage the children's ears until they find it no longer worth it to read.

WARNING: HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD-

"The Limehouse Golem" is about the hunt for a Jack the Ripper-like killer in 1880s(?) London. It's not as clever as it thinks it is cuz if you've got an IQ above your shoe size you'll know well before the end that the killer is the wife of the guy they want you to believe is the Golem. You see, the wife had been a poor girl abused all her life, until she found fame as a music hall comedienne.

=======

Movie stars have been a myth for a while. Perhaps Will Smith was one a decade ago. Tom Cruise may be the last.

But here's the thing: the number of actors who can actually open a film financially has never been huge. But it's been especially dire since the end of the studio era, and it's unclear how influential they were back then.

Robert Downey Junior got paid $50 million for Avengers Endgame because that's what Marvel thought he was worth, and this was after he had a movie called The Judge that completely bombed.

Movie studios don't know what works. A movie star is a great idea for financial success, but is it actually true? Probably not.

We make a big mistake when we only focus on the anti-Israel sentiment of muslims. My kid was drummed out of a campus group in 2004 for being pro-Israel, and was labeled one of the "bad Jews". Leftism is religion for many Christian and Jewish groups these days, and you get booted for conservative "wrong think". We left our former congregation because we were ostracized for not being anti-police or pro-transgender. One of the conservative people who remained, is leaving now, too. It's sad, but it's a reality. Oh and the big lib rabbi is retiring and the successor was chosen because of strong support for BLM and the "anti-fascist" movement, NOT in spite of it. I am not saying this happens only in Jewish Congregations, I have Catholic friends who changed parishes due to politics and feeling unwelcome for not supporting transgenderism (!), but let's not deny that they are "religious".

A lot of people twist their religion into supporting their beliefs rather than looking at what was written and shaping their beliefs to that. But it is OK, cause an omniscient, omnipotent God that punishes actions 4000 years ago because there aren't enough human's to change His mind but is adaptable now because people demand He change isn't the scariest concept in the universe. Hell, Greek and Roman gods were at least consistent in just being in it for themselves by comparison.

HAHAHA. Get with the times, Cap. Being "color blind" is racist now. The "melting pot" is racist, too. You see, taking the position that color doesn't matter and it comes down to character, comportment and behavior is itself racist. Get wise to the new rules under Critical Theory. Disregarding color denies people of color an essential part of their identity. Projecting common standards onto different groups is the mark of dominant group oppression of the subjugated groups. Antiquated notions like what you're describing are just evidence of your deeply inborn white supremacism.

Get rid of that old baggage and come to realize that color blindness and melting pots are deeply racist and oppressive. Throw it out in favor of the "salad bowl" - different groups coexisting but distinct within their milieu.

444 It amazes me how many people - on the local radio, TV, national MSM, etc. are carrying on about Meghan and Harry, how their life is so hard. Gee, to have their problems with a $10m inheritance, live in a mansion about the size of a shopping mall.

I'm just sick of phony claims of RAAAAAACISM!!! being used to destroy people and institutions.

I read some excerpts of her interview this morning. She claims that her son was not given the title of prince or crown-funded security because . . . he might be dark-skinned. That was a flat-out lie.

According to the protocol there (which has been in place for many years), the kid wasn't legally entitled to be called "prince" or to have crown-funded security solely because of who the current monarch is (i.e., a great-grandparent, not a grandparent) and where the kid is in the line of succession. It never had anything to do with race.

When Elizabeth dies and Charles becomes king, he can give the kid the title of prince if he chooses, but Elizabeth does not have that option. And that was explained to Harry and MeAgain. But they still went on t.v. and told the world that their kid was denied a prince title and security because of RAAAAACISM!!!

I don't care about Harry, but watching the Intersectional mob tactics taking down the British monarchy is unsettling, especially when you see who is assisting crazy Meghan - Oprah, Obama, and others.

Also, watching a Cluster B/BPD in action is creepy.

Basically they are using mob psychology to control the country. They needed a giant helping of fear to activate it. Yeah, that's the ticket. Anybody who says any different is a wild eyed conspiracy monger.

Mostly this.

Seriously, her own family (blood relations) don't want to have anything to do with her. Are they racist?

How's come Oafra didn't ask her, given the fact that she has a history of alienating her own blood relatives, if she ever considered that she might be a toxic bitch and she's using racisism as an excuse to shut down her critics? Oh wait . . .Oafra. Right.

my favorite part of that was she refused to say WHO said it. so it's no an undeniable claim. it's as brilliant as "white nationalists" that the never name. you can't refute the accusation because there isn't anyone to say, " we never had that conversation and they're lying".

and she get s to continue being the victim.

Scotties can be very chippy with people or other dogs; not all of them but a pretty high incidence under the bell curve. For all of my problems with GWB and his eight year RINO stampede, I think he honestly doted on Barney and Mrs Beasley and was an exemplary dog owner.

Which may explain their impending insolvency. They have an ambitious goal of 7% annual return which pretty much begs them to leverage and get into private equities. If they score, great! The managers get lauded as financial geniuses. When they bomb out, they get bailed out by taxpayers.

Yeah 2 shepherds adds the pack mentality to the mix. I see this a lot with people getting not 1 but 2 potentially aggressive dogs as pets without any training.

Dont get me wrong shepherds can be great pets. When my kids were toddles the dog would play with them and allow all sorts of tail pulling, ear playing etc. He loved the kids more than anything and would have protected them from any danger as well.

But....when we got him as a puppy the breeder , a well respected one that provides dogs to several police departments strongly reminded me that these dogs can be la big problem if not properly trained. I listened to the breeder. But I am in a small minority who does.

470 A friend of mine owned and trained bomb and drug sniffing GSD. She was devoted to their care and training. The first time I visited her home I knocked on the door and the three dogs sounded like they were going to tear me in pieces. Sh gave one command , friend, and it was like flipping a switch. All three immediately relaxed ran to their toy box and brought me toys to play tug of war with. I had never seen anything like it. Those dogs are so intelligent but they are dangerous in the wrong hands.
