Ooooooooooh-N-T Where The Memes Come Sweepin' Down The Plain

Trying to tell you something.jpg

I'll tell you something else. I look at a lot of internet meme/humor/shitposting sites to find ONT content, and lately I've seen people...I dunno what to call it, meme witnessing I guess. Of course these posts get mocked, but not as much as you might think, and not as much as I would expect. There's a surprising number of positive reactions. Here are a few I've seen in the last week or so”

And boy did he ever put the Lowlifes of Late Night to shame. Good interview. Listened with respect, didn't condescend to her, let her push and pull the conversation, made some risque jokes. Seemed reasonably spontaneous.

Everything you could want in a Late Night interview plus Karen Gillan. Never saw him before. It was good. Not that I have watched talk shows since like the mid 90's, or even care about these people, but why does the Left have to fucking destroy *everything* to feed the sick strange ever-hungry god that is their stupid idiot self?

I made that chicken from last week. Actually, I had been planning and had accumulated all the spices over the past months. Well, actually, I did not make that exact chicken, I made the KFC leaked recipe chicken that this appears to be based on.

It was pretty good, but I need a bigger pan to fry in. I made a mess. It was crunchy though. I am not sure what the big innovation was that he claimed he did not learn in culinary school, since it was mostly very standard four-wet-dry that everyone has been using for ever.

But it was crunchy. I recommend 8/10. (9/10 with rice.)

Craig Ferguson was witty, intelligent and usually acted like a grown-up (although he could, at times, be ridiculously funny). Where is he now?

Posted by: Bozo Conservative ....Living on the prison planet at March 05, 2021 10:09 PM (tjZg/)

Craig Ferguson hosts a show called "The Hustler", on ABC, an interesting game where 5 contestants guess which one is the Hustler, and they answer trivia questions, building up the pot of money as people are eliminated. The Hustler already knows all the answers, but lies often. The final 3 decide who the Hustler is. If they guess right, they split the pot, if not, the Hustler gets the pot.
**UPDATE**
Well, eff me! They cancelled it last week, after 8 episodes. Still available On Demand, on ABC if you have Commiecast.
It was classic Ferguson style. Too bad.

113 Hi everyone! So tired of doing animation and am SO glad I'm done with the latest one.

The animating part (visual) is fine, it's just when you have to do the audio when it gets hard. Not "doing" the audio--that's fun and cool. It's just that you can't have distractions during this part.

When you're doing the visual stuff, you can have a movie or something playing in the background. For audio, that doesn't work.

I read about half his memoir of growing up there, "Born a Crime". It was interesting in parts, but not enough for me to finish it. He's half white and half Xhosa-- Mommy was a Strong Independent Woman who didn't need a man or something; Dad was a Euro (Swiss or something). The title refers to the fact that under apartheid, interracial procreation was illegal and a mixed kid like him was a pariah, belonging to no tribe and a constant risk to any parent that claimed him.

There's a lot of stories in there, about having to dodge Zulus, white Boers, etcetera and how fucked up the system was there (which it was). Too bad he decided to deep throat the phallus of hardline Leftism and throw in with the people who are trying to do here what the whites did in SA, only the other way around. That's the worst part: He knows better. He knows where this ends.

Holy shit, what a great premise for a story. I'd watch that even if Brie Larson was the star.

Okay, maybe not, but it's still a great premise.

While there is no explicit content in the video itself, hardliners fear that young people will easily be able to search out her earlier work online. If any of you saw it, a couple nights ago, our uncooth fat feline, Jake, had brought a live field mouse in the house which we missed. I noticed he was up on the counter in the bathroom trying to get at one of the windows over the tub. I head something scratching and pulled up the blind. A mouse fell out, and got into the bathtub. He was trapped. So he just went down the drain.

Early yesterday morning, he popped out and Jake caught him. I was zonked out, but Miley got the mouse out after Jake let him go again.

Now Jake apparently thinks mice just pop of the drains here, so he's been hanging out in the bathroom, waiting.

Completely OT, but my grandmother in Arkansas in her elder years had 30,000 chickens. Every day a couple would die. She had a place where she would throw them, the buzzards would come along and eat them, and no one cared. My mother thought she was all civilized and that this was barbaric. It happened that we had to take the car into town (a metropolis of 600) to get fixed, so she asked the mechanic where she could get lime. He thought a minute and said, "They have lime over at the drug store. Lemon too, and little booths you can sit and cool off in."

Miley had never seen water (for ballast) in tractor tires and didn't know that existed. I had to replace the tube in of the big rear tires on my Ford 7710.

To do that, you put the valve stem down, pressurize it, and let the pressure blow the water out . It takes a couple or three cycles to do that. It blew Miley's mind when she happened to see a big old stream of water spewing out of a tire.

I've traced my direct ancestors back almost 500 years.

And its weird, you won't find ANYONE famous... not one.

They all served in militaries, all enlisted, not an Officer in the bunch, yet just did their jobs and went back home. Some were semi rich... almost all 'middle class'... can't find a single one who was indigent.

They were around famous happenings. One at Valley Forge. Many in the Civil War. Grandfather in Artillery in France, Dad Navy in WW2 and Korea. Many saw some real shit... yet... you won't find a single one in the history books.

Not sure what to think about it.

My 93-yr. old father's driving days are over. He doesn't believe it (deep down, he does, but denial is what keeps him going, I think).

My mother called the other day, sort of in a panic. She heard my father messing around, and then he popped out, all dressed up with his coat and hat on. He was going to drive to town and get a hair cut. He needed one for a while, but any suggestion would be turned down. And then, he ups and decides that is the most important thing in the world that day.

He was looking for the keys and demanding to know where they were. Mama needed me to get up there and get him to the barbershop.

I did, and I was driving up, he got to talking about the glare -- he couldn't see anything. What was wrong with all this damned glare, he wanted to know. Can you see, he asked me.

I wonder how far he would've gotten had he managed to get some keys and attempt to drive himself.

It was not likely a vaudeville gag, as then you'd have to clean up afterwards. Legend has it that the silent comedienne Mabel Normand invented the gag, which became popular in the Keystone Kops shorts produced by Mack Sennett, although the silent comic Ben Turpin is thought to have taken the first pie to the face in 1909 in the comedy Mr Flip.

In my father's mind, he's just a little bit under the weather, and in a week or so, he'll be back at it again, out there in the field working, maybe going to do a little work around the house.

That's what he told the barber, essentially. He can't go outside more than a few feet without the walker. But he always tells me he doesn't need it. He'll be fine with just a cane, if he even needs that.

I carry it with me, and get him out and started and put the walker in front of him, and he has to grab it. Walking about 10' down the sidewalk to get into the barbershop, he was getting a little wobbly, sort of veering off toward the walls. Luck he didn't want to veer to the street side.

When I got him inside (and the barber knows all about the situation, been cutting my fathers hair and my hair since I was a little boy), he fusses about me trying to help him and telling him to "be careful".

Believe or not, Dr. Strangelove was going to end in giant pie fight in the war room. You can find a description of that scene if you search. It was shot, but I think footage has been lost, although some still shots exist.

IIRC, President Muffley take a pie in the face from the Russian ambassador, from a pastry tray conveniently set up in the war room. You can see that tray in some of the war room scenes.

This prompts Gen. Turgidson to exclaim, "Our President has been struck down in his prime! Full retailiation!", which starts a full pie exchange.

Dr. Strangelove, after wrestling with his alien hand trying to blow his brains out, accidentally fires off a gun. Everyone in the room stops, thinking Dr. Strangelove is taking over. It's implied that he will be the leader in the mine shafts.

In my father's case, denial is what keeps him going. And that is true in many cases, denial can be a good thing. Very bad thing in other cases, of course.

He simply couldn't live without denying that his independence and working days are long over. So his mind, even in a somewhat compromise state, constructs the denial to protect itself.

His oldest brother, about 15 years older than him, and long dead now, went through the same thing in about his mid '80s or so.

I didn't know this until years later when his daughter told me the whole story, but he admitted that he was planning to kill himself. He had it all worked out how and when he was going to blow his brains out. He didn't want his wife to find his body, and he had made extensive plans on how to do it.

And that was because he realized that his working and independent days were over, and the sun was setting.

There was one regular commenter, David Ehrenstein (who I believe has now passed), who was really nasty. Just hated conservatives and anything remotely Republican, and was always mouthing off.

Yet at the same time, if *anyone*-- no matter who-- had a movie question about any film, no matter how obscure, he'd usually have an answer for us, and would provide it, even if he hated you. (He was a professional movie critic/reviewer for years and years.)

Some verses are powerful. I recommend Psalm 74. It contains phrases like: how long, God, will barbarians blaspheme?.... How long are you going to sit there with your hands folded in your lap?... You own the day, you own the night; you put the sun and stars in place... On your feet O God-stand up for yourself! Do you hear what they are saying about you, all the vile obscenities? I've done the same, think I've got a few lines back over 500 yrs. Like you say many around famous happenings, one commanded troop for Cromwell, another was scalped by the Injuns in the aftermath of the French and Indian War.

Most famous was a 6th grt uncle who was Gov of Ohio, territoial gov of Iowa and chaired the first national Dem Convention held. That is unless you count the direct ancestor, Greitje, who was supposedly the first whore in New Amsterdam. They didn't get along w/ the neighbors, maybe that's slander...yeah I'm going w/ that.

573 >> Sounds too close to what I hear from Old Mama.

Yep. It's sad, but I realize I've got those same genes and tendencies in me. I try to say I'm not gonna be like that.

My mother, 90, is not like my father in that way. She's worried about her age and all that, but it's not the same as my father. Her mind is still sharp as a tack, mostly, although her memory, short term, is noticeably falling off in the last year.

Both her mother and older sister died at the age of 85, and when she turned that age, she was really scared. Her mother had heart failure. My mother was really worried about her heart, and that she was going to suffer the same fate at the same age, but didn't let on too much how really scared she was. Only later did I figure it out.

Her heart is actually in pretty good shape (for 90) and I try to reassure her as much as I can.

But she is not like my father with the denial -- it doesn't bother her in the same way.

576 Today was pretty adventure-free. I took the Suburban in for a wheel alignment, and the shortened right side tie rod ends did the trick, and the shop was able to give it a good alignment. Steering wheel is centered, and no more pull to the right. I can take my hands off the wheel, and it stays in the lane for half a block or more. I bought a 30-pack of Coors, and gave it to the crew in the shop for a job well done.

I got the busted interior mirror fixed by using the auto-darkening glass from an earlier mirror, and the housing and circuit board from my busted one. Works fine, too.

And I have about given up on fixing the window lift in the left rear door. It goes down. and it goes up a little, then stops. Tug it up half an inch, and then it will go up two inches, and stops. I will look for a good used window regulator.

He is basically blind and very hard of hearing even w/ hearing aids, 2 months from 90 yo. Tough old guy and has coped w/ his disabilities for awhile. In case anyone doesn't know the VA offers a week long "camp" on how to cope w/ blindness, it helped him a lot and they pay for some expensive aids.

Sorry, but I forget to answer your question. Yes, I was born and raised on a farm (as the politicians love to say, but for real). My father was a carpenter/builder turned farmer. That was my life.

I had an Uncle who lived to be nearly 101, dying just about a couple of weeks before his 101th. He was born in 1900. I could go on about him, but those long life genes run on his side of the family.

When he turned 90, they all threw him a big to-do, and he said, "See y'all in 10 years". He made it. That seemed to be his goal, to live to 100. He went down rapidly after that.

It's a heavy story and I won't detail it, but I happened to be the one right there when he died. Everyone else was somewhere else, and I had to run up to the nursing home after a call that he was fading fast.

It was a profound experience -- God, I'm tearing up, now. Put the emotion out of my mind.

Anyway, there at the last, it was like, "Well, I turned 100. BFD. Everyone I know, all my friends have been gone for years...."

Heh. I also messed with a big-ass LED lamp. One of the 500-watt equivalent Feit yard lamps. My buddy had fumble-fingered it, and dropped it on a concrete floor. After that, it failed to work, and it rattled. I took it apart. Not one, but three ferrite-core transformers and/or chokes had torn loose from the circuit board. I tried soldering them back, but I think I missed some hair-fine wires, and it did not light when power was applied.

So I rendered it out. There were 8 LED strips, and one disc, all wired in a series circuit. I tried putting 12 volts to them. Nothing happened. So I tried a 20 volt battery from my cordless drill. Holy smokes! They lit up like the surface of the Sun. I will try to find the minimum voltage on which they will run, and then add a volt or two to get a useable operating voltage. I'm guessing 16 might be in the ballpark. With a current-limiting series resistor, and a fuse.

Similar, in that they are COB LED's on a heat sink. The original lamp from which they came was a cylinder about 4" diameter by 10" long. Eight LED strips formed the cirumference of the cylinder, and disc covered in LED's formed the end. Intended as a "500 watt equivalent" yard or shop light. There are two kinds. The mud-hoggin' boys, who like pigs, love to wallow in the mud. Get their trucks out and hee-haw away in the mud.

Then there are the dandy type of truck nut. They wouldn't dare get their precious in the slightest bit of mud. They trick them out for the street. And some of the lighting mods they make just blow my mind. Underlighting in blue and purple and green and other crazy colors. They take a pickup, jack it up a bit, and then light up the underside.

And the wheel lights are something else. Odd, crazy LEDs mounted on the wheels that light them up.

Yep, there are the low riders too. You see a few those. Rather than jacking up, they take it down. Not too many, but you see some.

On some of these tricked out trucks, they have something where the color of the light changes, according to some programmed pattern apparently. Blue to green to red and stuff like that. It can be quite distracting seeing those things driving at night.

If Miley hadn't have hollered, I would've hit this idiot GenZ'er. He just stepped across the intersection, since the right-left traffic in front of him went red. He was clueless to the fact that someone coming at him might be making a left turn.

The idiot had his face buried in his smart phone. I had to slam on brakes, and with someone behind me to keep from hitting him. He just walked on, oblivious to the fact that he came that close to dying.

My impulse was to roll down the window and yell, "Hey idiot, get your nose out of your god-damned phone, you almost got killed!" I almost did it, but checked myself and just drove on in disgust.

TY AOP. And you're right, you mentioned the drive from Mesa/AP to is a long one, you do go half way around the whole huge metro area, lots of traffic.

Sometimes we stay a a hotel near the Mesa airport if we have an early flight. If that happens when you are in town that would be our best chance to meet up.

Or we could fly to Vegas and meet up w/ some fun crazies like we did before. LOL
