The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

Let's see what's in this poisonous, 800-page long "For the People" bill, H.R. 1, the House Democrats have succeeded in passing.

The information I'm presenting here comes from this tweet thread. If you don't want to give Twitter any direct clicks, the threadreader app version can be read here. He's got screen grabs of the actual text of the bill, so you can check it out for yourself.

Or, alternately, the entire bill can be downloaded as a pdf file.

Here are some of what's in store for us if it is passed:

Automatic voter registration. Did I hear someone say "motor voter"? Well, this is worse. If you change your address, you’re automatically registered to vote. Apply for welfare, registered to vote. Register for a college class, automatically registered to vote.

This is a federal law, so it will be in effect in every state.

What about illegal aliens, excuse me, undocumented immigrants? I'm glad you asked. If they try to vote, they’re protected from any consequences. Or if they are erroneously allowed to vote, they’re Also protected from any consequences.

There will also be nationwide same day registration.

They'll be a boatload of new restrictions on the ability of states to remove ineligible voters from the rolls.

There are provisions regarding registering minors to vote. It effectively lowers the voting age to 16.

States aren’t allowed to ask for voter ID, not even for absentee ballots

Mandating that states allow ballot harvesting.

Higher education will be paid and required to register voters and encourage them to vote, as long as they say they’re citizens.

Absentee ballot drop boxes will sit out for a month and a half.

Mandatory curbside voting.

And this is just the stuff in the bill about voting. There's also provisions for DC statehood, a federal takeover of redistricting, and stiff penalties for propagating election "disinformation".

As I said, H.R. 1 is titled "For the People." But I think this must be intended ironically, like the USSR used to do, when it called itself a "democracy." Such kidders. A more accurate title might be "The Wholesale Destruction of Election Integrity Throughout the Entire Country Act." Another one might be the "Give Us Everything We Want Right Now, We're Tired of Waiting Act" of 2021. Because there's a nunber of items included that have been on the Democrat's to-do list for years, and now they think it is within reach. I'm just surprised they're not trying to get rid of the provisions of the Electoral College and establish presidential election by simple majority.

How about "A Law To Establish One-Party Rule in the United States"? Sounds about right.

I look at this stuff, and I think, there's no way that any of this crap is going to pass constitutional muster. Surely our judiciary is going to toss out most of it, and then have a hearty laugh about it. But that is true only in a sane world. I have to remember we live in clown world where we are ruled by clowns who have been elected by clowns and who have appointed other clowns to positions of power and influence.

You know what I feel like right now? I feel like I'm in the Lord of the Rings story, only Frodo and Sam are in jail for "insurrection" and Sauron is just about to grasp the One Ring. It's so close, he can taste it.

Stunning and Brave:

meme 20210305 07.jpg
He's only doing this because he knows there's no danger involved. Not only is there no QAnon led uprising, he's protected by a metal fence and thousands of National Guard troops. In other words, he knows this is not an actual "insurrection". If it were, there would be real guns and real shooting and real bullets flying and he'd be hiding under his desk. Or, more likely, he'd have left town long before. What a clown.

Wednesday Who Dis: Inger Stevens OD'ed on barbituates and alcohol in 1970 and died on the way to the hospital. It was ruled a suicide although there is supposedly some doubt. She was only 35. But a couple of years earlier, she starred in the mediocre thriller House of Cards with George Peppard.

21 The red states should have had proposals for secession prepared for a popular vote the night after the election when it became clear Biden's people had stuffed the ballot boxes.

And this is another milestone, if HR1 passes then formally and "legally" all future elections will be stolen - this should lead to the formal end of the country.

thanks for the snippets of that smegma dripping bill that emanated from pelozi and her ilk.

just when i thought it was game, set and match by the dems, they double down on this shit.

they pass that it is truly well and over. the only course of action is the supreme court saying "nah" (which they won't) or the states rising up and saying fuck no.

i listened to tim pool yesterday- his show had some conservative techies on. pool's point was that with texas opening up, biden was powerless to do anything. if he tried to stop it there is a real threat of texas seceding. pool thinks its more than bluster at this point. so he says biden is basically president of the blue states. perhaps this voter issue or taking guns is what lights the powder keg. thoughts?

They have to go looking for this shit, doing deep research to find it and make a connection that no one in their right mind would do.No one who attended the march on 1/6 thought it anything else than what previous marches on the capital were, a peaceful way to make our voices heard. No one thought it an armed insurrection to overthrow the government much as we wished Trump get elected. It takes a sick mind to ascribe racist and hateful attitudes to what normal people just look at as ordinary life. Men are men and women are women. A baby born alive is a person with rights. Our country's first priority is keeping our borders secure from outside threats. The firm that was contracted in Maryland, before they moved CPAC to Florida (because Maryland wouldn't give them any venue--cause of COVID) is very pro-Biden.

I suspect a pincer attack. We'll design a stage not immediately recognizable as a Nazi symbol, then we let people in the media that this is going to happen, so they are prepared to lose their shit and ask Hiatt to jump on the bandwagon of prohibiting CPAC using their hotels.

The result: try to start the wave of hotel chains vowing no access to conservative conventions or specifically CPAC.

240 232 TJM, yes that's it. I saw it in some art house in Normal Heights, about 30 years ago so I don't remember much but it was very long so I think I saw the version where that theme is more evident. I recall the protagonist written as a "working-class" hero.
Posted by: San Franpsycho at March 05, 2021 11:50 AM (EZebt)

==========

The version on DVD is barely coherent, but the kid feels like just a kid lost in a weird Seussian world. I read that the original cut was about an hour longer.

I imagine producers saw a serious minded kids movie with obvious socialist overtones and they cut it back to a more family friendly adventure movie.

Posted by: buzzion at March 05, 2021 11:25 AM (vMCab)

If Geisel regretted anything, he'd have had it pulled. Geisel famously never talked about past work, everything we know basically comes from "family" members. There's tons of info online - particularly beginning in 2017 (gee, what happened then?) where articles on his WWII racist propaganda started popping up ("When Dr Seuss Went To War, etc.), as well as his older racist cartoons (HuffPo, NYT).

The left has had their sites on Geisel for a while, this is but the first victory in removing and smearing his name. As you'd also expect, other than WWII scares, he was pretty left leaning and did a lot of leftist propaganda. Since he didn't have any biological children, everything is going to be a step-something. They sure seem to be ok selling his artwork for a small fortune.

- - - -
Agreed.

The use of "White House" is a blinking, neon tell that they don't want to say what's really happening here.

It's a big f'ing deal for Congress to usurp presidential power like this, and any normal person's response is: if he can't be trusted with nukes, then how is it we're to believe he can be trusted with anything else -- sogning EOs, negotiating with foreign leaders, directing and or signing off on what his cabinet members implement, etc..

But it's all good, you guyz, the White House is on board with this so move along to the latest Netflix offering, safe in the knowledge that a coup is not taking place after the fraudulent election of a late-stage dementia patient!!

249 And their suggested remedy. I should give ALL my info to the 3 'free' credit agencies that routinely have data breaches to make double damn sure that my identity is thoroughly put at risk. #&@!

I guess I'm going to be signing up for lifelock or the outfit Dave Ramsey pushes; name escapes me right now.

The three credit agencies already have all of your info. Lifelock is fine, but you can basically do the same thing by asking for a "credit freeze" with the three credit agencies.

A credit freeze makes it so any time someone requests credit info on you or tries to take a loan with a legit company who does a credit inquiry, it gets rejected.

Whenever you want to buy something on credit, you unfreeze it, make your purchase, then re-freeze it.

For any morons with kids, it's good practice to put a credit freeze on your kid so THEIR identity doesn't get stolen.

299 "I'm directing senior officials in my administration to work with industrial leaders to identify solutions to the semiconductor shortfall," Biden said on Wednesday. "Congress has authorized a bill but they need ... $37 billion to make sure that we have this capacity. I'll push for that as well."

The chip shortage, which in some cases is forcing automakers to take employees off production lines, is the latest example of supply bottlenecks.

"Make no mistake, we're not simply planning to order up reports. We are planning to take actions to close gaps as we identify them," an administration official previewing the executive order said.

Having worked in this industry for two decades, I am perplexed. While domestic production often seems to be directly linked to DoD, which is good for American workers, but I am mystified how yet to be determined supply chain issues already have a determined solution cost of $37 billion. Besides, the requirements of the domestic auto industry can probably be covered by 2 to 4 days of global semiconductor production annually. Something smells here.

I'm just surprised they're not trying to get rid of the provisions of the Electoral College and establish presidential election by simple majority.

The last time the commie cocksuckers started squawking about the Electoral College, out of curiosity, I checked out how the most developed nations chose their head of government (not head of state). I stopped at 30. Only South Korea and the Frogs directly elect their head of government (the system in Taiwan leans towards direct election but it's really muddled so I hesitate to include it). Everyone else chooses their head of government indirectly.

So aside from the ROK and the Frogs, the only place you will find direct elections of the head of government is in third-world shitholes with open sewers, where most of the population is fed by the UN, and a corrugated tin shack is considered to be a palace.

350 Interesting self defense video. Guy watering his lawn in a nice neighborhood, buy happens to be open carrying gets approached by two goblins who have already committed armed robbery elsewhere. One goblin has a gun.

Homeowner decides to draw, but is carrying in a shitty holster not attached to his belt. He takes a long time to draw, then has to shuck off the holster. From decision to draw until he's ready to fire is five whole seconds.

Thankfully, the armed goblin runs off as soon as the Homeowner starts his draw. Interestingly, the unarmed goblin is not intimidated by the gun and he moseys away as if he's on a Sunday stroll.

I'm thinking at 7mm you don't need to strain it. You need to hope it doesn't chip the porcelain when it hits.

381 If this becomes law, WE have to gear up for stuffing ballots boxes.
Posted by: JAS, AoSHQ addict at March 05, 2021 11:44 AM (2BZBZ)

Who are you going to stuff ballots for?
Republicans? Really? You'd take that chance with your freedoms (what little you have left) to help a party that routinely rawdogs you and laughs at you?

They'd have to be worth fighting for before I'd take that chance, even though I know voter fraud doesn't end until D's taste their own medicine.

But R's have had their majority in many states and the federal level and haven't done shit to shore up weak parts of voting law and integrity. Fuck em

Years from now, it will become known that it was the FBI agents/informers in each of the groups egging them on to do stupid stuff so they could make arrests.

Because this is a standard play in the FBI playbook.

383 257 My rant. Evil Colorado state government has leaked enough info about me for someone to file an UE claim in my name. (Oh they say they've had no data breach) probably they were not hacked, and it is an inside job.

Westminsterdogshow went through the same thing not too long ago. Sounds like CO has a problem that they're not admitting.

384 There's a rumor going around that Mitch will step down.

Got willowed asking this in the last thread so I'll try again. Assuming that happens, will there be a special election or does Bashear (D) appoint someone?

TJM, Fen wants a repost, and I second her request! I only saw one of those pics, I think, and would very much like to see them both!

My totally chill golden retriever was standing on the lawn one time when I began pulling a hose across it. He almost jumped out of his skin to get away from it, apparently thinking it was a snake.

Ancestral memory, I'm guessing.

Dogs may be afraid of snakes but cats are not. I saw an amazing display catness one day when two of my cats found a copperhead.

Family used to have a cat that was basically a rattlesnake hunter. She had, like, 5 or 6 confirmed kills.

**And this is another milestone, if HR1 passes then formally and "legally"
all future elections will be stolen - this should lead to the formal
end of the country.**
At this point I do not think we can say "Stolen" any more. They will just be "Preordained".

390 @Common Tatwr, once I walked Into a friend's bedroom to use the attached bathroom. A pistol was sitting on top of the dresser to the side with the opening pointed toward the doorway. I didn't consciously see it, but hit the deck immediately, then realized why. Maybe a little PTSD involved there too, but that's another case of the lizard brain at work.

391 Hello, OM. I notice that you linked to the version of the bill from the previous Congress. Wouldn't it be better to have the 117th Congress version? https://www.congress.gov/117/bills/hr1/BILLS-117hr1ih.pdf
I don't know if they're much different, but I figure there might be some slight differences here and there due to amendments, etc.

392 #391. Sorry, that was not my intention. But I heard the two bills are pretty much the same.

However, I did update the thread with the link you provided.

Thanks!

394 @231, you could try Georgetown or Jonestown (got friends in both) or Bastrop or Lockhart (Texas bar-b-cue) or San Marcos.

All these are probably on the outside of what i'd consider commuting distance

Why Dem, of course. Default value for all new registrations--or even registrations from new addresses who were Republicans before. You'll have to tell them why you don't want to be a D, and even have to provide a good explanation under penalty of perjury.
