100 Reminds me that I have to find a place to hang one of my dad's winterscapes. He did it on a board, a very heavy one, and the walls in my tiny house can't take a big landscape. It is attractive, so I want to keep it, but no place to hang.

Winter does not look bleak for people with bad eyesight. Snow is fresh and white; trees are a soft brown; and landscape or architecture is softened by the white blanket.

This painting is attractive, but not quite there. I can't figure out the two lanterns (?) behind the trees.

118 I don't usually care for Gauguin's Tahitian paintings but his earlier works are more interesting. The colors are less garish and the shapes are less exaggerated. This painting certainly expresses the cold and depth of winter in a rural area with it's clean snow and drifts against the buildings and fence. Not sure I want the reminder at the moment but it is appropriate.

123 I'm told in the country people would sometimes have to exit their 2nd story windows to get out of their homes. Never did that in the city but I guess it was a combination of severe snows and drifting that would get the 15-20' heights. This occurred as recently as the 70s.

And had several of them, and usually a wood stove near the middle. Where I grew up in the CO mountains, I had a number of friends whose houses were heated with wood. Most had furnaces, but the wood was cheaper and with good wood stove placement it was very effective. Of course, they also had modern construction with good insulation. Would have been much harder back in the day.

When I was a teenager, my mom would sometimes make pasties (an English baked pastry filled with meet and vegetables - basically, a good Hot Pocket), wrap them in tinfoil, and send me off to school when it was cold out. Kept the coat pockets and hands warm. She picked up that trick when she was living in England. Apparently, "warm pasty in the pockets to help keep you warm on winter mornings and provide lunch at the same time" was an old trick that coal miners' wives used and it passed down.

Well, aside from the topless ladies, I once read that Gauguin was very impressed with the light in the south island seas.

I've never been to Tahiti but while I was temporarily stationed at Olongapo in the PI,

i was truly impressed by the quality of the sunlight. It looked insanely different than anywhere else I've ever been.

Must have something to do with being closer to the Equator and the ocean and the YUGE open skies with monster clouds.

Anyway, it was cool. And you could see how an artist might fall in love with such a place.

True. But in Pittsburgh I was visiting, and my hostess said, "This is the best Mexican place in town." (One of the outlying townships, I think, not within the city proper.) I didn't have the heart to tell her what I really thought, especially compared to the hot, green chile-laden stuff you can get in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

That depends. In Denver, we have a couple of local chains that are quite good. Not as good as the small family-run joints, but good. I don't think I've ever eaten at a major regional or national Mexican food chain, though. 363 360 I have said it before, I will not get the COVID vaccine. They won't be honest about the origin of the virus, the vaccines were rushed out in record time using a novel mRNA method which received little testing.

Here is a disease that probably came from a biowarfare lab, seems much worse than it really is, has been used to suspend liberties and promote government tyranny while rushing in the great reset, and it is prevented, but maybe not prevented by this novel vaccine that was developed in record time? I agree. The only alternative I can think of to the "seems much worse than it really is" idea, is that it has long term consequences that are being hidden. In early covid days it was said that having had the disease would bar someone from ever entering the military. This makes no sense unless it was more consequential, rather than less. Same with lockdowns. It's either a trash the Bill of Rights game or something about it is being hidden. So I think the former, but you never know with these monsters in DC

438 Grew up in San Antonio. We used to haunt a place called El Bosque on West Avenue between Blanco and Bitters. It was the only thing there aside from the rifle range across the street where I learned to shoot.

Haven't been back in 40-mumble years. From Google Maps, I wouldn't recognize that area anymore.
Posted by: Zombie Robbo the Llama Butcher at February 19, 2021 10:44 AM (dfRN6)

That area? No way in hell you'd recognize it if it's been 40 years. San Antonio has grown that much.

It's to the point where, when driving on I-35 North to New Braunfels, you really don't see countryside anymore. When I was just a young lad, once you got past 1604 it was open country with very few exceptions.

Including people who have had it or got the "vaccine".

This is the *reason* to believe that if all this stuff is real, it was engineered, probably at the function-gain lab in Wuhan.

It's either just an immense power grab, or it was engineered at Wuhan and they don't really know how much function it gained and are afraid to find out.

Because if this were just "a virus", siccing your white corpuscles on it by having it or through a vaccine *should* be enough in most cases, for a virus that only kills < 1% of it's "victims".

497 They are using a new means of inoculation.

They don't use a dead or weak strain of the virus that the inoculation is for.

They manufacture an rna code for the body to create the virus within itself. A LIVE virus. It does make the body create the immune reaction but there are potential deadly side effects that no one can know whether they will show up or not.

There's also the code that's used is close to another that has to do with fertility. It's possible for the rna messenger carrier to trigger that code and cause a female taking the injection to become infertile.

There are other problems too. A lot of people in Africa have died due to experimental injections for disease.

507 I share the concern -- but recall that DJT was also pushing the vaccine. I am seriously struggling with this. I have an opportunity to receive the vaccine because of who I work for. My gut says not to get it. But like I said, even DJT was advocating it.

I look at it this way. Trump (I'm guessing) wouldn't *make* you, or *spam* you to take a vaccine you didn't want to take.

Trump saw a *demand* for vaccines, so he tried to get the government to spur delivery of this demand ASAP, especially because locker-downers were saying "Until we get a vaccine", and Trump saw the damage that it was doing to the economy.

I don't put any of this on Trump.

508 472 I have no idea where to find real New Mexican chow around here. In Denver, a big city, in 2000, I visited a place that advertised it had "real" New Mexican cuisine -- but they not only had no honey on the table, which you find at *every* NM restaurant and diner, but they didn't have any in the entire place.

I've never been to NM. I'm curious, what is the honey for? And how does NM cuisine differ from SW or Tex Mex in general. (Please don't say, "it's because they have honey on every table.")

509 Did you hear about the young student who tried to get a job as a phlebotomist? All of her efforts were in vein!

510 my test - order a big chile relleno. if it's good, they generally know what they're doing. If it comes out awful and weird, they're faking it and all they know is burgers.

My test is guacamole.

Weird how many Mexican restaurants mess that up, mostly by mixing in mashed or blended peas.

The worst one use peas entirely.

512 The Catholic bishops in Kenya sent samples of a Gates Foundation / WHO tetanus vaccine to four independent labs in the early 2000s.

All labs confirmed the presence of an added enzyme that causes miscarriage, maybe also sterility.

That's open source info.

All the COVID-19 mRna drugs need the same treatment.

Do you have a link? Id like to archive that info.

Not really, civilization (stone age civilization that is) did fine without reliable energy for a very loooong time!
