At the end the last lawyer tried to bring in history and literature. He tried to get emotional and bring his point home. This reminded me of the House Impeachment Managers in the Clinton Impeachment. But back then they did it way better, with way more clarity and emotion. And those guys lost.

The anti-impeachment Republicans will be subjected to threats, cancelling, harassment, mobs going their houses, and a remarkable lack of interest by law enforcement and the courts in any of it. Ironically, a real-life danger that's way more solid than the fantasy of Jan. 6. And this travesty will be prolonged by the Democrats as much as possible --- scapegoating of Trump to provide cover for a bunch of things they were going to do anyway.

They have to use the guard because of the Posse Comitatus act. Basically without a congressionally declared insurrection, passed by the senant, signed byt he president. Federal forces cannot be used inside CONUS for ANY operation against u.s. citizens.
They're working on this, but not there yet. Look for thay in summer 22, before the elections.

That supercedes the old Posse Comitatus law. What is unclear though is the status of NG from other states in DC. Normally, arrest authority requires that the NG only do that in the state where the unit is, not in external jurisdictions. There are some intergovernment agreements between states but not sure how legitimate arrest authority would be. That may be why a lot of them were sworn in as deputy marshals.

Because they don't take cases they don't need to. And they don't rule on subjects where they aren't the original jurisdiction. Even if they are inclined to rule in his favor (which I think they are by the fact that if Roberts thought it was an actual impeachment he would do his job) they will wait till they have an actual action to rule upon and then a case that follows that action if Trump sues. If Trump is acquitted then there is no reason for them to interfere so they will let a verdict be cast, then if guilty, and if they try to apply the "may never hold office" penalty, he can challenge based off of bill of attainder, starting in DC federal district court and work his way up to the appeals court then to the Supreme Court.

They had bad experiences with term limits affecting the Articles of Confederation Congress. Made it almost impossible to legislate. States that have strict term limits have found that the center of power shifts to executive officials and courts.
Basically, our government system no longer aligns with society which is why increasingly the system does not work.
Diverse societies generally do better with less unrest with a) confederations, or b) parliamentary systems.
Our system of government has not exported well to other countries because it was incompatible with their cultures. Now, it is increasingly incompatible with ours. Since politics is downstream from culture, you would have to fix the culture in order to fix our government. Tall order to do that.

If you are referring to the model that has the hidden track, they are wonderful belts if stiff gun belts are your thing. I wouldn't recommend them for someone with an overhanging gut.
The belt buckle is not intuitive when its on and will require some practice to make it removing smooth.
It is my go-to for EDC.

Having been involved in politics in that particular state growing up, that is one of the tamer stories of skullduggery. One party politics always corrupts and corrupt people have advantages over the non corrupt (the PRI at the near end of its power is a perfect example culminating in political assassinations and massive bribery).
But, even the political machines of Tammany Hall, the Daley Machine, Pendergast, and Crump, etc. eventually fail because ultimately, even authoritarian regimes must have the consent, even tacit, of their society in order to govern. After the Irish concluded that the Brits were basically killing them after the Potato famine and other acts, the Irish became ungovernable for the largest empire in the World at the time. India took that lesson as well post WWII as did Israelis opposing the British Mandate government. Even the ruthless Germans and Russians could not always win--the Finns for example, and the Germans more or less failed to always control their subject nations.

The fake conviction is a definite, so what President Trump should do is run for a Senate seat in '22. When he wins, the Democrats will refuse (or protest) his swearing in, then the case goes to Court.
The Court will not overturn an election, therefore the Democrats and their farce is Null And Void.

I will. This whole thing went pear shaped in 2018. That was the time to back the president and his agenda. I know it is spilt milk and I don't want to cast aspersions to voters and those that chose not to vote. But to me, 2018 was the time to rally, get really pumped, show up, what have you.

We just elected a new Rep in my district who was a pretty popular sheriff, so time will tell.
There are plenty in the House that are really good like Matt Gaetz or are going to be great like Lauren Boebert, Burgess Owens. I'd have to go down the list

Your criticisms are valid; nothing wrong with after-action review. But you appear ready to dump Trump. IMHO, there's no one better (even with all his flaws). Even with all his mistakes, his accomplishments were manifest. I assert no other human on the planet would've done better under the circumstances. As of now, I'll vote for him gladly again in 2024 if he runs. I believe he's learned quite a bit from this experience. Did any of us believe that DC was this corrupt? I didn't. Did you?
