The Morning Report - 2/8/21 [J.J. Sefton]

rollerbiden.jpg

Good morning, kids. Monday, and to paraphrase the noxious emissions from Bro-Fo Omar/Nur, congratulations to some people for doing something yesterday. I understand it remotely resembled what was our most popular sporting event that long ago almost the entire nation watched, and in so doing for at least one weekend a year bridged all socio-economic, cultural and political divides. But since we no longer have a nation, and since sports like virtually every other aspect of our culture and heritage has now become weaponized as an instrument in service to our repression, yesterday's pseudo-event, as Marshal McLuhan would describe it, is meaningless. It's Rollerball without the pocket-sized flamethrower, groovy 70s costumes and Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

Instead of misplacing the 13th century ("Not much in the century, just Dante and a few corrupt Popes, but it's so distracting and annoying!"), we're on the precipice of repeating the first half of the 20th and "misplacing" with extreme prejudice, every real aspect of human and societal progress in the truest sense of that abused word since Magna Carta.

The point of the 1960s, again we were taught, was to tear down the rules, the traditions and customs, the hierarchies of the old guys. The targets were supposedly the uptight, short-hair, square-tie, adult generation who grew up in the Depression, won World War II, and were fighting to defeat Cold War Soviet Union.

The good guys, the students, and the activists, if they only had power, were going to break up corporations, shame (or "eat") the rich, and bring in young, hip politicians. Reformers like the younger Kennedy brothers, the John Kerry war hero-resisters, the Bay Area Dianne Feinsteins, and the hip Nancy Pelosis would disrupt the "status quo" of politics.

They would all push hard for assimilation and integration of the races, and the equality of the sexes in pursuit of universal equality of opportunity. The mantra of the 1960s and 1970s was "opportunity," Remember the 1964 federal EEOC -- the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission...

...Fast forward a half-century. What did these now-late septuagenarians give America?

Yes, the downtrodden pigs, the exploited horses, and the victimized sheep finally did expel Farmer Jones from America's Animal Farm.

But in his place, as Orwell predicted, revolutionary pigs began walking on two feet and absorbed all the levers of American cultural influence and power: the media, the bureaucracies, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, publishing, the academy, K-12 education, professional sports, and entertainment. And to them all, the revolutionaries added their past coarseness and 1960s-era by-any-means-necessary absolutism.

We are now finally witnessing the logical fruition of their radical utopia: Censorship, electronic surveillance, internal spying, monopolies, cartels, conspiracy theories, weaponization of the intelligence agencies, pouring billions of dollars into campaigns, changing voting laws by fiat, a woke revolutionary military, book banning, bleeding the First Amendment, canceling careers, blacklisting, separate-but-equal racial segregation and separatism...

...The revolutionary animals are now running the farm in a way that would be nightmarish even to Farmer Jones.

They won. They are now one with -- but also far, far worse than -- what they rebelled against.

Not much in the 21st century, just Colin Kaepernick and a few corrupt Bidens, but it's so distracting and annoying!

I have been reminded often in the last few months of Rollerball. Bread and circuses like the Supersportsbowl. Nameless faceless bureaucrats with total power. Strict caste system. Vertical industry integration harmonized across the globe. Fusion of government and industry after the a corporate Wars. Cultural decline and decay. There isnt enough water.

NSCC didn't tell robinhood to halt trading, they just make it Robinhoods only choice, but it was still their choice. Much like Chrysler doesn't make you wear your seatbelt, but the car is going to ding, and flash warning lights and mute your radio until you choose to comply.

Despite the Jackson-Lee bill being first in the hopper, I think they will do the internet sales ban first. What was on the Harris-Biden website was a ban on internet sales of guns, ammunition, and parts. If introduced, this Congress will pass it, this President will sign it. You have the opportunity to take it to court if you can get standing. Then it will take some time to make it through the process.

That thing about buying guns and ammo? Yeah, do it.

The SCOTUS isn't going to overturn an election (they couldn't even be bothered to hear a case prior to the official call), and since Biden can, and was elected and serving already, then clearly he's the only one who can be president right now.

"The Costs of Too Much Budget Stimulus
The economy needs fiscal and monetary support - but not more than it can afford."

It looks like your standard conservative fiscal responsibility article from thr last 20+ years, and that's the problem. NOTHING changes with these people, the arguments are all hollow and rote. But worst of all, and what I finally understand now, is the constant ceding of the argument by the establishment. The article accepts, without argument, the NEED for more government stimulus...it's just the amount that needs to be discussed.

Not the need to free the economy, end COVID restrictions, and let people take care of themselves, like true conservatives. Agree with the leftist premise, just moderate it a bit. Disgusting.

137 That Nevada law is going to become *really* great in about 20 years' time, as it follows the same trends as other preferred enclaves full of the correct kinds of apparatchiks. First will come "home rule" designation that allows them to end-run state policies and be given a really long leash. I reckon that after that will come Federal reforms that effectively grant them self-governing territorial status. That will be interesting. They will be states without territory (until they decide they want that, too, of course).

Eeeeeh, yes but perhaps not. The equivalent amount of energy post-transmission probably has lower emissions on an endpoint KWh basis than a small engine. This is not true of electric cars, however, since modern cars have ridiculously low emissions anyway and adding battery recharge into the mix increases transmission losses significantly.

But regardless of whether a corded electric lawnmower is net lower-emissions for the amount of energy consumed, we're still talking about levels so small anyway that they amount to a rounding error.

Of course. But only if it's *your* rounding error. If it's theirs, it doesn't matter at all. A private jet carrying three people to a climate conference represents a huge emissions volume per capita. In terms of total global air transportation emissions per passenger mile, however, it doesn't even show up.

I have a feeling, a bad feeling based on the reinfection rates, that the vaccine is 'last years model' and this virus is going to continue to mutate in ways to secure it's own chances of survival.

Better treatments are going to what is needed. This virus may become as common as the 'common cold' - except potentially deadlier.

But, for the most part, the articles are a depressing collection of stories about where we are today. Not your fault, of course, but the onslaught of the monsters assaulting our idea of what is true, what is beautiful, and what is right, is a stark reminder that we live in a fallen world.

But, like when Britain and France reluctantly went to war with Germany, we now have clarified what and who we are facing in the upcoming battles. There are many treatments (therapeutic regimens) that are very effective and extremely cheap and where the drugs are well understood. It comes down to *early* interdiction. The earlier you hit it hard, the better off you'll be. HCQ + heavy vitamin D works fairly well. Ivermectin + heavy vitamin D works even better. The latter works so well in testing (in places that aren't usually in America) that it likely obviates any need for a vaccine at all. Both are also very cheap.

Add in operational improvements like what Egypt has done with applying the sanitarium model, and this is a non-problem. We could have a COVID hospital in every city where it's needed and issue everyone in the country with Ivermectin and vitamin D with "begin at first sign of symptoms and then go to the doctor" guidance. It would cost wildly less than anything we've done so far.

Thank you, Captain, but I can't claim any particular insight on my part. All one had to do was see how long the "two weeks" scam was going on, especially in its various iterations - "The Mueller Report," "thousands of sealed indictments," "empaneled Grand juries" - to know it was a gigantic head-fake. And while I was justifiably pissed at the shit-stirring assholes who called doubters "pants shitters" who "don't understand how DC works," I feel very sorry for people like JackStraw who actually believed there was anyone in DC devoted to the rule of law. 250 189 My son tells me the NFL paid tribute to Sicknik last night, who died "in the line of duty, after defending the Capital", or something equally vague. He said it sounded like Rampaging Republicans killed a police officer.
________________

Well Sicknick did die after he was at the Capitol protests on 1/6. And he was a cop when he died. So technically those statements are true.

But we still don't know if his death had anything to do with the protests. Sources who say they've seen the autopsy report claim that there were no signs of any injury trauma to the body. There have also been reports that Sicknick had an underlying medical condition that may have been the cause of his death.

Bottom line is that we still don't know what killed this cop.

But the left won't stop blaming Trump supporters for the death, because that's what they do. The truth doesn't matter. Only the narrative.

My wife finds that program funny because we have a friend who's a school teacher with the local district who can't get her loans forgiven through it.

Plus it was in effect when we were taking on the loans, so it was part of the deal, so to speak, when we signed out loan contracts.

A $50,000 blanket forgiveness that bypasses us because we tried really hard to get rid of it and won't even touch what we have left because we refinanced to a private company will be different.

Old(er) Morons will remember Vice Admiral James Stockdale. He served on the Ticonderoga in the Gulf of Tonkin, and was shot down over Vietnam in 1965. He was the highest ranking naval officer to be held as a POW. Afraid he'd be filmed and portrayed as a well treated and valued prisoner, he would beat himself with a stool and cut himself with a razor. He limped for the rest of his life.

In the camp he invented new ways for his men to resist torture, send coded messages to his wife, and worked out new ways to break through isolation and communicate with each other. In other words, new ways to stay alive. Men cleaning the courtyard would sweep the ground in a syncopated rhythm he taught them, silently and defiantly spelling out to each other inside those walls: We love you all. We love you all.

Anyway, James C Collins was set to interview Stockdale and read his record of his time in Hanoi:

292 "As I moved through the book, I found myself getting depressed. It just seemed so bleak -- the uncertainty of his fate, the brutality of his captors, and so forth. And then, it dawned on me: "Here I am sitting in my warm and comfortable office, looking out over the beautiful Stanford campus on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I'm getting depressed reading this, and I know the end of the story! I know that he gets out, reunites with his family, becomes a national hero, and gets to spend the later years of his life studying philosophy on this same beautiful campus. If it feels depressing for me, how on earth did he deal with it when he was actually there and did not know the end of the story?"

Stockdale said "I never lost faith in the end of the story. I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life which, in retrospect, I would not trade."

297 Valiant,
Impeachment is not a 'trial' within a traditional sense, for example, a grand jury that operated like the Dems in the House would have its grand jury indictment tossed because the grand jury would have to have evidence presented before it rather than simply declaring a bill of indictment by way of house managers arguments.

Thus, in the opening statements, Trump's lawyers are demonstrating that if the House definition is the standard of impeachment, that lots of Democrats including Kamala have violated that standard. They could also pivot to unconstitutional proceedings later which is what the original lawyers for Trump apparently wanted to do. Ultimately, this is sound and fury signifying nothing as anything embarrassing to the Dems will be swept under the rug by the MSM DNC.

But, Trump's argument is aimed more at Republicans in those seats, if they vote to convict, it will get out that they are giving their Dem colleagues a pass in worse behavior. It is not conducive to facing voters back home at election time.

307 Collins then asked him "Who didn't make it out?" and Stockdale replied immediately: "Oh, that's easy. The optimists... The ones who said, 'We're going to be out by Christmas.' And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they'd say, 'We're going to be out by Easter.' And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart.

This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end - which you can never afford to lose - with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.'"

Thus the Stockdale Paradox - being able to hope just enough to stay alive, without having your heart break when you hit a rough patch. When you realize rough patches more or less define everything we do? How do you hold faith in the evidence that your faith is meaningless and will always be so? What do you do when you can't get out....?

Only 65 members of the House voted to remove Cheney. That means a majority (~146) of them support what Cheney did, and what she blabbed on Chris Wallace about going after President Trump criminally.

Cheney and McCarthy represent everything the GOP voters hate about the party. WE voted for more House members this election. WE ARE NOT voting for more of this garbage in the midterms. So GFY.

359 They won't go directly at 2A.

Yup. And boy howdy will that internet sales ban keep the Southside Chicago thugs from getting even one more round of 9mm! /sarc/

363 357. Tenneys Democrat opponent has now asked Pelosi to not allow her to be seated. Because their election was fraudulent.

366 >>> 244 Better treatments are going to what is needed. This virus may become as common as the 'common cold' - except potentially deadlier.

++++
.....

But then how will the politicians get their fair share of graft? YOU don't want them to starve, do you?! ///

...and as others have said, this *is* the cold. If it is or becomes deadlier it's because Fauxi helped CHYna with gain of function to start, and possibly because the so-called vaccine is fcking with immune systems.

WD, thank you for writing this post about James Stockdale. I'll need to read his biography.

One last thing about Stockdale - he may not have been a fan of the military-industrial complex. He has written about his experience off the coast of North Vietnam and thought some unadulterated bullshit was going on to drag us into that war.

He's definitely worth a read.
