Handmaiden to Oligarchs Janet Yellin Breaches Ethics Pledge To Recuse Herself Even to Avoid "the Appearance of Conflict of Interest" Just a Couple of Weeks After Pledging It

The ink isn't even dry on her promise to avoid conflicts of interest.

These people join government primarily for the purpose of creating policy precisely when they do have conflicts of interest -- precisely when they will benefit financially from their own actions.

These people aren't getting rich on civil servants' salaries.

President Biden's Treasury Secretary – Janet Yellen – signed an ethics agreement on December 29, 2020. By the end of January, she had already broken it.

...

Within two weeks of the Biden regime taking power, however, Yellen was embroiled in an ongoing scandal surrounding GameStop shares and the companies who sought to profit by billions by first short-selling the stock, then attempting to lock retail users out of apps like Robinhood.

Yellen, 74, was described by Press Secretary Jen Psaki as, "monitoring the situation."
...

But Yellen took hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from entities such as Citadel, one of the hedge funds seeking to benefit from manipulating the market while others are locked out.

In fact Yellen's ethics agreement specifically mentions Citadel, which she took nearly a million dollars from in recent years.

Section 6 of her ethics agreement states that Yellen must receive a written authorization to participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving parties such as Citadel. But Psaki insists Yellen is already dealing with the matter, and "monitoring the situation." This falls under the description of "actual or apparent conflict of interest."

Section 7 also forbids her from participating in decision-making about any matter she has a financial stake in.

But do read the article.

They are now acting with the brazen, open, swaggering corruption of people who do not intend to permit a free and fair election which might bring them accountability, ever again.

Also, this is funny: Circle back, circle back.

That criticism is Psucky, in many circumstances, unprepared to answer questions live, and further, she refuses to answer difficult questions on camera. Psucky and her lackeys prefers instead to manage reporters and their difficult questions in private.

I think there are some people who are unclear on what it is that cops do in society.

and

So unless you want to give them money or use their violence against someone, there's very little reason to interact with the cops.

285 Regarding police and use of force:

Part of it is a substantial proportion of the population has the idea that they can resist, run away, etc. with complete impunity from lawful orders. Some of that relates to substance abuse but even ordinary people are doing some stupid crap in resisting.

Part of it is that cops are required to enforce stupid, picayune, corrupt laws, ordinances, and policies, by local legislative bodies at the local, state, and federal level.

Another part of it is that often it is difficult to remove the inevitable percentage of bad officers due to unions, political patronage, seniority, or other issues.

The final issue is that fundamentally a lot of people in the US are waking up to the fact that they do not trust their government and thence the government's agents. Some segments never did, most have until they see such things as kneeling before rioters with no punishment and then letting other politically disfavored people be thrashed in the streets.

Then they shouldn't have chosen Michigan NG. Only ten of the 83 counties in the state voted for Biden ahead of Trump. We have the same issues here that many states have. The heavily populated cities vote for Democrats and it overwhelms the vote total from the rest of the state. But the rest of the state often is where the people are who volunteer for military duty.

373 Sponge, 18-1,
Yeah I saw that by Cruz. He basically sank himself for 2024 with that little sound bite. All because he was getting crap for his electoral challenge.

Trump had the problem with his legal team--Cruz, Giuliani and apparently his first impeachment lawyer team want to play legalisms--due process violations, separation of powers, etc.

Trump wanted to challenge the voter fraud directly which has been endemic since forever in urban areas of the US with direct tacit approval of both parties. My guess is that the Republicans have been resorting to it time and again to defeat primary challenges and this allows the Dems to use it all the time. Apparently, since no court wants to hear it, he is using the impeachment to ram it down our senators throats.

This mask he is ripping off is the idea we have open, honest, and fair elections in this country.

438 Hey, let's go after Cruz now. He's one of the few Republicans who is trying to get legislation through on many of the subjects and concerns of conservatives, but OMG! he said something in a podcast that a website pulled out and is trying to push as throwing Trump under the bus and he's now a NEVER TRUMPER! OMG,, burn him at the stake.

I will have to go find the podcast and listen to it, because I can pretty much guarantee that what he said was taken out of context. Cruz not only objected to electors on the Senate floor, he offered to present the Pennsylvania lawsuit to the SC. He fully supported the Texas AG lawsuit to the SC.

Trump DOES say crap that I'm sure lawyers want to strangle him for. And I have been of the opinion for a while now that what Rudy, Jenna Ellis, etc. tried to do was present a full fledged case of voter fraud in the states with barely a week of prep, instead of the obvious case of Sec of States, AG's etc. changing state laws in violation of the constitution. It doesn't help your case before a legislative hearing when you claim that dominion machines were used in precincts where they weren't( as Rudy claimed in Michigan). Part 1.

The likelihood of him getting legislation passed is tiny. Except of course for grand but useless speeches, failure theater is what he is good at. Where was all that brilliant legislation from 2017-2019? Alas they could have passed whatever they wanted, but they didn't really want what they promised.

455 Part 2. Or affadavits from poll workers stating that a cube truck pulled up in the middle of the night with tens of thousands of ballots from who knows where. Which turned out to be ballots collected from drop boxes throughout Wayne county which had chains of custody with them.( again per the election committee in the Michigan legislature which is still investigating the election) .

Had they done what was recommended by Levin and other constitutional lawyers to immediately go after the change in laws via the executive branches of states in violation of the constitution, they may have had a chance at getting hearings. Or maybe not. But even now, Trump has lost yet another set of lawyers because he is insisting that this impeachment farce be a place where he can go on again about voter fraud without having witnesses, evidence etc.( the Dems in the Senate are not going to allow time for that) . Instead of presenting the actual facts that he did not incite a riot, that the FBI knew people were planning to break into the Capitol a month before it happened.

Posted by: Eskimo at February 01, 2021 05:37 PM

Was he reckless? He was bold and aggressive, but most of his actions seemed well planned and calculated, at least after the fact when they were (mostly) successful. Did he fail to prove fraud? Seems like a majority of Americans believe it happened to some extent. Irresponsible? He tried to deal with serious matters, he just got held back and undermined by the GOPe chameleons on his staff. Hard to make real change when you can't trust any of your lieutenants, let alone the career bureaucrats.
