What If Deplorables Start “De-Platforming” Leftists From Receiving Skilled Trade Services?
[Buck Throckmorton]

If Monster Tech can aggressively de-platform businesses and individuals for expressing forbidden opinions, then maybe it’s time for skilled tradesmen to respond in kind against the woke left.

Leftists despise working class “deplorables” and seek to punish them for all their disapproved habits – you know - God, guns, motorized vehicles, and voting MAGA. Well, the tradesmen I know are swamped with business right now, so it might be a good time for them to establish their own “terms of service” enabling them to deny services to advocates of cancel culture. We’ve learned from Monster Tech that all you have to do is declare someone’s speech to be “hateful” or state that their speech might “incite violence” to banish someone from receiving service. If a deplorable can be targeted as hate-filled for simply supporting Trump, then a tradesman’s Terms of Service can in turn declare that any visible support for Democrats constitutes hate speech.

Broken down on the side of the road with a Bernie or Biden bumper sticker? Sorry – you’re going to have to find a wrecker that employs all 57 genders and declares all their pronouns. But Earl’s 24-Hour Wrecker won’t be towing your car today. Terms of service, you know.

Broken down furnace during a deep freeze? Too bad you advocated for a fracking ban on Facebook. That’s a violation of Smith HVAC’s terms of service. It looks like you’ll need to find yourself an HVAC company that can fix you up with 100% renewable energy if you want your heat back on.

It’s a shame about that plumbing leak, but your hate-filled “Hate Has No Home Here” sign is a violation of Jones Plumbing’s terms of service. If you’ll just open your backdoor, the leaking water will find its way out.

Low on gas in the middle of the desert? That’s a shame, but Last Chance Gas can’t put fuel in your car if it’s going to be spreading the message of hate encompassed by your COEXIST sticker.

Can such service be denied? The left is already doing it. My county is relaying updates about Covid vaccinations via Facebook. My town posts winter road updates on Facebook. I can’t express my political views on Facebook or else Mark Zuckerberg might deny me access to life-or-death info regarding roads and vaccines.

As the defenders of Monster Tech like to remind us, if I don’t want Facebook banishing me for having the wrong opinion, then I can just go start my own social media monopoly. Well then, it’s not asking too much for the left to go start their own skilled trade services.

It shouldn’t have to come to this, but we’re already seemingly here. In addition to the de-platformings by tech companies, some banks are refusing service to gun shop owners, retailers are banishing products from My Pillow, etc. If we can only buy products and services from those within our political tribe, leftists are really going to hate the new rules when they’re in critical need of a skilled tradesman.

When we were dick kids (instead of dick grown ups) one buddy of mine who was a particularly good salesman had what he called the "law enforcement" discount. Which was a 10-20% increase in the normal price for cops. At one point, he ripped a cop off terribly bad, but did it with such great service and a smile that he got referrals. Yes, there was a time when we weren't on the best side of LEO's.

Their money is just as green as anybody else's. And so are assholes'. Just give them the asshole/lefty discount. But I'd say that goes for the service industry, where you can't necessarily discount the immense power of yelp.

Marginalization in everyday life would have a big effect. Not that those folks couldn't get services - some companies will carve out a niche and cater to them - but that their options are reduced and they are made into pariahs.

Around here, for example, if you have a need for a plumber right away, you end up with a schmo trainee. My Brother in Law is a "retired" truck driver. Used to drive all over, now drives only occassionally (he's 70 years old).
His take is that a lot of truck drivers are getting to the point they won't go into some of these "troubled" cities. Besides the cops hassling them, there is also a lot of crime around trucks moving food, etc into cities to super markets. A lot of truckers carry (without permits, frequently), which also makes cops angry at them.
Yeah, they could call a "strike", and watch the supermarkets empty out in 48 hours. And then people start going hungry, and no TP to wipe their little asses.

87 To me, the worst offenders are the public school teachers refusing to go back into the classroom. Grocery store workers, medical people, bus drivers, etc Lots of people who have to come into close contact with people everyday of the week and who are much more likely to be exposed to Covid are expected to go to work but teachers are somehow exempt even though it has been conclusively shown that children do not carry the virus. Private schoools in lots ofplaces are open and doing fine. This is again hurting the most vulnerable populations, poor children. All those elites who bemoan food deserts so kids need to be fed in school and before school and afterschool and preschool programs so kids don;t have to go home to poor environments are just fine with forcing them to sit in front of a computer screen all day without fresh air and sunshine to the point where suicides of school age children are increasing at an enormous rate. This is all so phony.

Well, the owner is so scared of covid he won't go inside a house. As far as I know, he's lost all of his workers - as I see a bunch of trucks parked in their lot now all day. I hired him to do some outside work I'd have normally gotten some low-skilled laborers to do (sprinkler irrigation) because I felt sorry for him.

His lot sits on a very busy corner, I predict he'll sell the approx 1 acre and retire. In the meantime, other plumbers are stepping in. What a shame, to build a business and reputation over 20 years, and throw it away because scary disease. I can only guess he's one of a million here in CA that are voluntarily committing business suicide.

One the characters becomes convinced he is going to die tomorrow and spreads it to the protagonist who then spreads it to other people by talking with them (they suddenly see an off screen light and hear something that sounds like muted TV/radio in the background)

The characters don't die from some fantastical means, or even from some disease...they do bad, stupid things based on fear and some of them die. Almost made me wonder if the real point of the movie is that the media fear mongering about covid was the real danger instead of the disease itself which of course is the case.

158 The outrage of what's been done (most places) with schools during this catastrophe (self-inflicted) really sort of sums up the overall civic degradation, verging on collapse. It has every element.

Unionized self-interested absolutely non-"public servants" acting like the arrogant entitled useless parasites they are (sorry, so many good/normal teachers, but they're completely swallowed up/erased by the overall trend).

Based on absurd non-science. 90% of teachers/staff demo, entirety of student demo - not affected by C19 even as much as by normal influenza.

Talk about "disparate impact". Work-from-home professionals etc barely affected. Millions without that ability hit very hard (no nannies, no care-takers). Educational impact? Disastrous (even most clueless teachers admitting this). It's the whole package: science-free, constitution-free misrule by arrogant tyrants, despicable parasitism by unionized non-"public servants", devastating impact on middle and working class families, to include educational damage.

164 I think a 3rd party charter, or some sort of overall agreement would be best. People/companies could sign on, and the various addendums would cover the various industry specific aspects.

That way you have a broader base from which to resist.

Posted by: Brother Northernlurker just another guy at January 25, 2021 12:24 PM (lgiXo)

Simple percentages. Woke people, for the most part, don't want to get their hands dirty or roll around in dirty areas, where the equipment that needs fixing is located.

The Woke want the office jobs, pushing numbers and paoerwork around, and going home at 5pm. And the Woke HR Directors are smart at identifying them and getting them hired.

So, the natural progression is that if you want your furnace fixed when it goes out in the winter is to plop down a Trump sign in your yard.

Hey, it's a work in progress.

Then, when you see they're a rabid leftist, simply schedule them far out. As in "I'm sorry that your toilet is broken and it's the only one in your house, we will be able to service you in early March." I'm so very sorry."

Yes, there is the problem of down votes and such. However, there is another way to handle it. Make sure your website has a huge American flag on it and includes testimonials. That should attract the right customers, even if you are given down votes.

I love doing things - within my skill set - as DIY. However, there's certain things that require specialized tools and a lot of practical application and experience. Certain types of plumbing being one. IMHO, a plumber earns every damned cent he charges. I just replaced a valve stem yesterday, no big. But when it comes to pipes, or installing a kitchen faucet and doing contortions to get under the sink - that's what money is for!

My step-dad fixed everything he could himself, because he enjoyed it. But I tell ya, he should have stayed FAR away from electricity. The whole concept was lost on him, and he could never figure out why the switch on one side of the dining room didn't work like the one on the other side controlling the same light. Luckily, no fires were ever started because there was no place to put that green wire.

A mass murderer with no money would have had a better selection of representation. Trump was stuck with the few who had zero f*cks to give , either because they were already considered crackpots or too close to the grim reaper to worry about the consequences to their social life.

I specifically said it's important to understand what you can do and not do. I also understand not everyone can. If I came off mocking tone it was not intentional. I said the simplest of home/auto repairs. It's more an observation of the area where in a division of some 50 homes we haven't met anyone else that will try simple repairs at home or on the car.
I can't make more money as I'm not hourly and don't get commission. I suppose I'm fortunate that I don't work every hour of every day... Sure it'll take me a bit longer to do things than a pro, but I'm also not paying myself $100 hour.

311 @135: Another way to get liberals sheepish.... I've had fun doing this over the years and it really pisses them off but they can't do anything about it!

Whenever a gal says "Men are pigs" (or "shallow" or "stupid" or "assholes" or whatever) I tell her that is a very bigoted, hateful statement. I tell them to substitute any other noun there and see how they feel about it... For example - "Blacks are pigs" or Jews are pigs." Obviously these people would never dream of saying "Blacks are pigs" so I put it back in their face and make them think about the magnitude of what they just said.

In general, they stand there looking dumb. They have no idea what just hit them. The fun never ends!

Also, yet another immediate violation of a Biden campaign promise. Of course, this one was obvious before he even got the nomination when he, in an attempt to bring the Beto Boys over, promised to make Robert Francis "damn right I'm going to take your AR-15" O'Rourke his gun policy czar.

He kept that particular promise. So I guess on the "promises kept" front, he's batting .500...

That's just a tiny bit, but the ones I've seen and can verify. I don't know about the 21 gun salute (supposedly it was the wrong kind), Jill's shoes being different going from tan to blue (seriously, have these guys never been married?) or supposed weirdness at inauguration. No, that was Memories Pizza. The Masterpiece Cake crapfest was started by some gays who were actually long-time customers who wanted a wedding cake, but were refused, so they got all pissy about it.

377 Interesting idea, but it has to be 'informal', like twitter just so happens to block conservative accounts much more often than liberal ones.

Also, I was going to use the quote "the capitalists will sell us the rope by which we will hang them" or some variant thereof, but it turns out it is probably a made up quote. Attributed to various commies such as Stalin, Lenin, Marx, or John Brennan.

The one who insists on bringing it up has become pathological and so we don't talk anymore. Sad.

386 339 I have to stop reading the news. Now they are saying that there are credible threats against lawmakers about the 2/8 Impeachment Trial. That armed and dangerous insurrectionists are coming to the capitol and that is why they need the NG to stay.
They also said they had testimony from people arrested at the Capital that they believed they had "orders" from Trump to do what they did.Is this America?
Posted by: sharon(willow's apprentice) at January 25, 2021 12:58 PM (sd8p

After the impeachment trial is over, there will be something else. The oligarchs are pretty much settling in to a permanent emergency that will require armed troops to protect them from the people they govern.

On the one hand, that's not America. On the other hand, I am at least a little bit pleased that they are so afraid of us for no reason. That leads me to believe this little gun legislation thing is going to go nowhere. Who represents Lexington and Concord? What was that little dustup about? Someone is bound to have a historical memory that dovetails with their fear of us (and of the NG troops themselves).

Twenty-five years later, white collar smugness is insufferable with wokeness.

Wokester brings the Beemer into the shop. Shop-owner: "OK, we'll need to run some diagnostics. What are your facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts?" Wokester: "How are those diagnostics for my car?" Shop-owner: "Oh, they're not for the car, they're for you. If you pass, then we'll look at the car."

430 Tradesmen are already doing this in Seattle region. It is dangerous to drive and work in the Seattle urban area due to BLM/Anitfa domestic terrorist activity, and the progressive attitude of hatred.
I personally know contractors who live in the outer belt blue collar "ghettos" who have been offered 200% plus 20% on top of normal rates to refuse to agree to work within the radioactive radius.
This is an excellent concept, as the fact is the cities produce very little of value, and nothing that cannot be lived without.
Also social conscience shopping by refusing to purchase made in China products, manufacturers who exploit Latinos by hiring illegals denying minimum wages, poor conditions and creating ghettos because the lily white suburbs where the wealthy progressives congregate despise minorities.
