And in addition she had e-mailed everyone about the resolution. Why yes, I plan to use the stuff from this "work from home, cause bad flu" to minimalize the amount of working with these people in person in the future I ever need to do again cause stupid might not be contagious, but why risk it? The way I heard that joke was that the AF general had to get a physical that very day in order to collect flight pay that month. Being a general, he was able to get a doctor out late at night. Doctor says, So General, when was the last time you had sexual intercourse? General says "2010." Been a while, huh?, says the doctor. Looking at his watch the General says "It's only 2200 hours now!"

Fall of the Roman Empire. The firm I used to work in, there was an old process server in the same building. Everybody used him, he was good and dependable. He used to pay me $2 for Notary services since we were in the same building. We used to get in heated discussions about the US going the way of the Roman Empire. I think he was a FDR demonrat. Served in WWII and was a great guy. Pilot. He said that would never happen. Said PM is a wormy, lazy, lying, pill junkie piece of shit-- constantly behind on everything. Well, he's doing his usual lazy piece of shit thing, and it gets to the point where he doesn't respond to any emails or pick up his phone for three days straight, leaving me trying to coordinate with our client and make the job happen without him, just doing shit on my own. About ten days into the job, and it's after shift. I'm lying in my bunk around 2200 and I'm absolutely boiling with rage at this fucker because he refuses to do his job. I'm steamed, BP and pulse up, visualizing walking into his office with my heavy bag gloves on and pounding him into hamburger on the floor tiles. Then I realize something: He's never, ever going to change, his bosses are never going to bring him to heel, and he will never, ever do his job properly. Me raging into a heart attack will do nothing but hurt me. So I let it go. This is like that. Anger will fix nothing by itself. Posted by: Vanya at January 15, 2021 10:21 PM (gAFsE) 109

Sophie Scholl is rightfully remembered by all as a hero of Nazi resistance. However, if she were living today and offered even the slightest verbal resistance to the fascist Democrats taking over America there would be no honors for her by the Republican party but rather full throated denunciation on the floor of Congress by supposed freedom loving Republican Congressmen.
I believe that the right's will to resist is made next to impossible by the thought that today one's own party is most likely to brand you a traitor and your reputation will be condemned to infamy. I am not talking about any illegal actions just the actions of legitimate protest. It is now a fact that the Republican party will not endure any disloyalty among its members to the uniparty agenda. Posted by: Vanya This is where I stand, too. Yes, I am angry. But I spent too much of my life letting it consume me, and by extension, everyone around me. A few years ago I completely lost my voice for exactly three months. No discernable reason, and by month two, I assumed it was gone forever. I was a loud, angry person, who never used his voice for anything good. I made a promise to God, which I intend to keep, if he would give it back. He did. Many years ago I was scheduled to take a flight from Salt Lake City to Dulles. A coworker and I arrived at the airport and boarded the 757. After takeoff we never climbed above what I'd say was 10000 ft. It was obvious something was not right. About 20 minutes into this shit show the co-pilot or whatever flunky is not flying the aircraft stops by our row. He has a flashlight and a gizmo that appears to be some sort of hook. Turns out we're sitting in the row right above the rear landing gear and there's this viewport under a piece of carpeting to indicate if the gear is up or down... or broken. Then we find out the plane has lost hydraulics and we need to return to the airport. But first, we must dump and/or burn off fuel so we don't explode on landing... but everything's cool, so relax. Northwest Orient... 1996.

My favorite bout with Horde Advice was when I had a specific pain (won't re-mention where) and said I was 99% certain it was benign because of how long it had gone on and because of the checks that had been done, and that my problem was I was *worrying* about it because I tend toward hypochondria and to please talk me down.
Within 4 minutes I had three "friend of friend" stories from regulars about people whose lives were changed forever, or who died, and it started with that exact pain they thought was benign. None of them were joking either (I have a good detector) - they were very specific about the conditions. In the end, the pain really was nothing. So thanks a bunch, morons. I have no idea how many folks here are residents of the Keystone State, but I'll opine for a moment. We are the Crown jewel of the Election fraud. Our State Legislature did an Audit (no, and actual one, not some half assed attempt to cover things up). They audited all 67 Counties. The results? They tallied 205,000 more Ballots than actual Votes cast.
My personal observations last year prior to the Election. We had Trump signs everywhere in our State. Yeah, C-130s are loud, but the L-1011 I was on was a civilian plane. The thing about the noise in C-130s, you hear it but your mind is really more focused on the fact that you're about to jump out of a plane 1200 feet up hoping your physics teacher in high school was right (and that your chute was properly packed).
Quietest plane I've ever been in? The Cessna, I made my first jump from, when the pilot cut the engine at 3,000 feet just before I pushed myself out the door. (It was a solo static line jump and after my chute deployed and I was hanging suspended from the sky in disbelief of reality, I looked around, looked down, and noticed how freaking quiet it was. I think I was afraid to talk to myself in order not to disturb the god of anti-gravity.) Posted by: SFGoth at January 15, 2021 11:14 PM (KAi1n) 335

Harry Paratestes was talking about the Battle in Seattle in an earlier thread, and I found this to link for him (and anyone else interested).
The Ruckus Society did that, and used to train in our VA county back pre-9-11 on the estate of a Code Pink trust fund heiress. Founded by an Earth First nut, they used to be more open about their subversiveness, but briefly cleaned up their act (on 9-11, because I was already looking at them for training here), took their manual and a crapton of photos offline, and are now a registered "nonviolent action" nonprofit. They did Battle in Seattle, they were Occupy, they are antifa. https://tinyurl.com/y6x8e83t Posted by: barbarausa at January 15, 2021 11:25 PM (W7IZQ) 371

Anyway, walking in the small "downtown" area we discovered a fine restaurant - one of our favorites - was completely gone. Empty. With trepidation after dinner we drove the couple of blocks to another favorite, a Portuguese restaurant. It was still there, and had a "we're hiring" sign in the window. So that was nice. 415: There was an NJ court case that denied a concealed carry gun permit to the person responsible for the evaluation / purchasing of firearms for some unit of the army, even after there was a terror attack on the NJ base on which the man worked.
The court found that he had demonstrated no "justifiable need" for the firearm, as the terror attack / threat of future terror attacks were not specific to him, and that while he was superbly well-trained in firearms operation, that isn't sufficient to allow the issuance of the permit. NJ's gun laws are horrific. Posted by: Revenant at January 15, 2021 11:47 PM (9Vptm) 432

Defeat at the polls, attacked on all sides, enemy at the gate. Days away from an enemy controlled puppet taking over the country with bought and paid for politicians salivating at the destruction to come.
Then someone plays a trump card. A perfectly timed card which destroys everything they planned. All their work in ruins, they scream at each other, begging for an explanation of how this could happen. What if, that fence around the capital wasn't meant to keep you out but was meant to keep them in? What if 25,000 troops weren't called up to protect them from you, but to execute a perfectly timed trap with lots and lots of handcuffs. What if it was all a ruse and the most perfect, Machiavellian move of all time and history was executed on January 20th? It is possible and reasonable both to keep the legislative filibuster
and to allow statehood to proceed with a simple majority vote. The filibuster was only ever an excuse for the majority not to deliver to its voters. Since voters no longer matter, neither does it. Posted by: Methos at January 16, 2021 12:18 AM (kOpft) 524

Filibuster was an innovation along the way but a quite useful tool for making the Senate the "saucer" in which passions cooled, by making dramatic action much more difficult. Everything in the structure of the rules of the Senate is to protect the status and power of the minority, down to the individual senator. Thus "unanimous consent" being the basis of everything.
Was an impressive feature of America's brilliantly crafted structure of distributed counter-vailing power. Until the civic culture rotted away, the citizenry became largely useless, the Congress effectively delegated its power to courts and agencies, and anything resembling a press disappeared. In this context, just a small frail remnant of checks and balances remain. Posted by: rhomboid at January 16, 2021 12:23 AM (OTzUX) 539

Tome, it really doesn't matter that Biden has been "installed" as President. Most people in this Country do not believe he was elected fairly. Posted by: db at January 16, 2021 01:13 AM (E0PSG) I was able to find a dealership near Ann Arbor who worked with me, and got a surplus Harley galvanized shipping skid for only $50. (H.D. dealers have to put a $500 deposit on those and return 'em to the factory.) Then, I got the shipper lined up, and that's where the delay occurred. He missed a pickup time window at the shipping dealer, and had to wait till he was in Michigan again. Good news? Dealer forklift loaded the bike strapped to the pallet in the enclosed box truck, and sent it on it's way. 850 lb. load, MI to near Galveston. $450, total. Receiving dealer forklifted it outta the truck, and has it waiting on me. But I'll be elsewhere tomorrow, and can't change plans. Honda 50's Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at January 16, 2021 01:31 AM (63Dwl) When I was about 11, dad wanted a trail bike, and was looking at the Honda 55. I convinced him the Honda 90 was the way to go. He pulled the yellow Honda 90 out of the back of his pickup and rolled it down a ramp. Checked the oil and fluids, and then fired it up and drove it up and down the gravel driveway of about 3 acres. Then he told me to hop on and give it a try. Never having been on anything motorized, I pulled the throttle back, kinda panicked and drove it right into the neighbor's old wooden fence. It shattered and I kept going another 50 feet or so until I figured out to turn the throttle down. But hey, no damage to the bike or me. And the neighbor, an old retired guy with his wife, just laughed like hell as he was watching. I did have to pay for the materials to fix the fence, though. General McInerny was interviewed on a radio show 13JAN and he gives a comprehensive account of WWIII. It's a half hour long, but well worth your time, I'd say. Multiple countries aligned in a coup d'etat against us; both major political parties as co-conspirators. (Interesting that he leaves out the Vatican). Primarily a Cyber, intelligence, and psychological war.
IMHO, this is this generation's Cuban Missile crisis, except it's arguably more of an existential crisis than that was. Half the country is willfully ignorant that it's even happening. tinyurl.com/yykzxj9y Posted by: President-Elect Optimizer at January 16, 2021 02:16 AM (hOOi9) 686

Ref Wuhan flu: NIH now allows consideration of Ivermectin. They've gone from "nope, no siree, hunh-uh" to "well, you can try it if you like". Karl Denninger at Market-Ticker (dot) org has been banging that drum for several months now. {His view is that the ONLY reason it was suppressed is that the Emergency Usage Authorization for Big-Pharma's rush to a vaccine requires that there NOT be any reasonably effective alternative; ivermectin is cheap, effective, and SAFE; acknowledging that would have meant no multi-billion-dollar push for a vaccine and no indemnification against harmful side effects either.}
