A Serious Question: What Makes The Most Sense, Switching Party Affiliation To Independent, Or to Something (Anything) Other Than Republican?
It's all done except for the check mark in the "Independent" box or one of the other minor parties that my state recognizes as a viable political organization.
Strangely, I see on the form that one of the choices is "Republican," but I don't see them as a viable political party as much as a funnel for money from the unwise to the head grifters. If I had hired a contractor or a car mechanic and got the kind of shoddy work I have received for my support of the Republican party in NJ (and nationally), I would have fired him that day and asked for my money back. So...Conservative is tempting, but judging by the state of the website, I might be quite lonely. And what about registering as a Democrat just to vote for the most idiotic and outrageous of their candidates? That would be fun but unproductive. The U.S. Constitution Party is another option. That sounds like fun! But I might need a custom-made tinfoil hat. I mean, they are correct that our government is corrupt, but their perspective is right out of left field. I can't see myself as a Green Party member. I just don't dig chicks with hairy armpits. Libertarian? Yeah...no. I am not a stoner, and I want the damned borders closed. Ooh! here's one! The Natural Law Party. I like their platform, all seven planks! It's nice and short and hasn't been touched since 2002. In reality, it doesn't matter at all. the important message is that I am leaving the Republican party, not that I am going anywhere else. And it's not just that I am leaving them; I want to hurt them. They need to suffer; they need to bleed; they need to be driven from the public square, metaphorically chased by patriots with whips.Comments

Most of my voting life was spent in Missouri, and there was never any point to register. You could vote in whichever primary you wanted, and there didn't seem to be a problem. I suppose occasionally there might be a concerted effort to infiltrate the other's primary, but... eh.
I think a LOT more harm than good has been done, by parties essentially locking in voters.

In open primaries, vote for the worst democrat candidate.
In closed primaries, write in your candidate of choice. I use "Richard Nixon" but will now use "Donald Trump".
In the general elections, don't vote except for local and state races which impact you directly and vote for the one who will do you the least harm.

Allow me to start by saying that pot, ass sex, and Mexicans is not all libertarians (or the Libertarian Party) is about.
But, as a libertarian myself, I would suggest just listing yourself as an Independent.
That's what I do. Unless you live in a state with a closed primary and have a strong interest in a party's candidate choice there's really no advantage to declaring a party 'loyalty'. Its just a way to influence your thinking - 'I'm a Republican' therefore 'I should vote party line'.
And we've seen a lot of what parties do to constituencies they think are 'safe'.

In Texas, if I vote in the Democratic primary, I can't vote in any Republican runoff. Prohibiting that is how we got Ted Cruz, which I think is a good thing.
The problem with voting for the craziest Democrat in the primary is that Democrats like crazy. See Kamala Harris.

Allegedly, in the '06 Senate race, the Democrat candidate, Clear McCatshit, urged her voters to switch over and vote for Rapin' Akin in the primary, so she could run against him, and not have to deal with the other two candidates. One was the state R party chairperson (I think), and the other a popular businessman, with clear conservative positions.
Needless to say, Akin won.
However, rather than a big push by McCatshit's voters, I think the easier explanation is, Akin was a sitting Congressman, and the other two relative unknowns. It was a very close race, and the fact he came out on top was almost just dumb luck.

GHW Bush forced me to reconsider, and then when Perot formed his Reform Party, I thought "Ah, HAH!" but we know how that went.
I then dipped my toes into the Libertarians, but yeah,..bunch of stoners. Some good ideas, but too many stoners.
So after 2004 election, I went undeclared or independent depending on state I was living in at the time.
Prior to the 2010 election, I thought I saw signs of life in the GOP, especially with the Tea Party faction pushing them in the right direction. Trump brought a light to this effort, and made me feel like FINALLY a party was paying attention.
The last 2 years have left me greatly disappointed, but I think I'll stay GOP for at least the next election, only so I can vote AGAINST whatever GOPe cuck the establishment put up.

In Missouri's 1st Congressional district, which is heavily black, the incumbent lost his primary. This was Lacy Clay, a legacy who got his seat when his daddy retired after decades in the House.
The loudmouth bint who took his place is part of The Squad mentality. Radical lefty, and she's gotten awfully mouthy about some of the current comings and goings.
I assume she'll hold the seat as long as she wants to. These types are voted in, and the formula is, be annoying, go crazy with the leftist slogans and platitudes. Meanwhile, consolidate your power.

Conservatives need to make our best efforts to boot out the RINOs out of the Republican Party. If we are too lazy or stupid to do that, I don't see how we can ever hope to govern the country.
The bad news is that the clock is ticking. Every minute that passes the "Overton Window" is shifting ever more leftwards.

Tossing out an idea: Pan American Union (or whatever sounds good). If voting doesn't matter on the national level, then building a mutual support network through and across communities outside the established political spectrum becomes a way forward. Try to take over local offices, especially law enforcement (elected sheriffs, etc) because as we've established they can have a lot of influence. Keeps tabs-- CLOSE TABS-- on your DA and blow his phones off the wall when he does dumb shit.
And, most of all-- Irish Democracy.

Think people need to meet IRL to discuss the best strategies.

One thing that amazes me is how much money Americans send to their politicians for the 'elections.' During my time in the US, I wasn't actively politically involved, so I never was hit up by the fundraisers.
In Canada, I could probably count on one hand the number of mailings, or solicitations for cash I've had. The unions give to the socialists, the companies give to the conservatives, elections last about a month and the screwing continues.

THAT is where the fraud happened but yet again that unfortunetaly was a State issue. And Judges take a while to see how they turn out. Two attempts have failed at taking over the GOP. The Tea Party - where assuming a sudden 1/3 membership in GOP seats was nullified by leadership in less than eight years. And Trump - where leadership threw the House majority in 2018 and then the White House in 2020 by not opposing obvious fraud.
To take over the GOP - you have to instantly, in one election, take over the majority of GOP positions. Which can't happen - as they will always hold the Senate. Numbskull.

This is generally a good plan: go local. Much of the functional power still resides at the local level, as Trump found out the hard way when he tried to enforce his immigration policy. One of the best critical analyses I've run across on why non-leftists are currently on the ropes is that for decades they've been totally laser-focused on the White House to the exclusion of every other institution, which one by one got subverted by the leftists. Unless that changes the leftists will just keep rolling up more and more power at all levels.

Recall that he was the swing vote in ruling that Team Trump hadn't complied with the Administrative Procedure Act to knock out Obama's DACA EO (even Obama says that what he did was illegal). Trump was never going to deport 98% of Dreamers. So what Roberts did was to kill Trump's leverage to cut a universal immigration deal that was fair to legal citizens.
So now we'll get a plethora of illegal Biden EOs written by CoS Ron Klain.
EOs should be limited to what's strictly in the purview of POTUS, not policy. Truman could desegregate the military by EO because he was commander in chief.

Because of the way the election laws and commissions are set up, it is nearly impossible to dislodge an incumbent through the conventional processes. But we need to do just that: we need to destroy the concept of the professional legislator, and revert to the citizen legislator.
Since we cannot dislodge incumbents through the normal primary / election process, the only way to be rid of them is to withhold our votes for the GOP in sufficient numbers for them to lose federal elections across the board. Does it work to let the freakin' Dems have Congress for another go-around, if we can unseat a huge swath of GOPe types?
I believe recovery of the ensuing damage will be more easily accomplished and more permanently established if the GOP corruptocracy can be dislodged en masse from Congress. And it isn't going to happen without a drastic, dramatic excision.

As much as I like Teddy Roosevelt, he brought untold disaster on America and the world in his later life. In 1912 he tried running for president again, but not as a Republican. He started a third party, the Bull Moose Party. Enough Republicans still loved Teddy that the conservative vote was split, and the Democrat Woodrow Wilson won with only 42%. But, it is difficult to start a new party. State laws are written to make it hard for new parties to get on the ballot - sometimes it can take years to get ballot access on the same grounds as the D or R. It may be more efficient and feasible for MAGA to just take over the GOP. That just means MAGA people have to start by organizing and going to low-level Precinct Meetings, ejecting the current officeholders, and putting in reliable folks. It probably wouldn't take but a handful of MAGA people to show up to a precinct meeting to take over.
Otherwise, I'm with you 100%. I'm not going to give a damn dollar to the national GOP, and I won't be giving to any money to any congresscritter who didn't object to the EV's. Saving some donations to support primary opponents of coward state legislators in GA, MI, PA, AZ, and WI, too.

Of all the choices, only the Libertarian party professes that. Every other party has no problem with telling me how to live my life, they simply differ in what direction they wish to force me. So, I register L. Every year they have a convention/ caucus, which I ignore. Every once in awhile, I'll get a "please give us money" letter, which I also ignore.
Practical advantage: nobody else sends me pleas for money. Friends with "I" registration get begging letters from both D and R.
