Former Trump Official: I Had a New Job With a Private Airline. But Then One of Their Biggest Clients, the National Hockey League, Found Out I'd Worked For Trump. The NHL Forced My Employer to Fire Me.

1) A couple of hours ago, I tweeted out that this tweet referred to me. Shortly after, I deleted that tweet. After much introspection, and talking with friends and family, I feel obligated to reveal why I deleted it.

Quote Tweet
Mark
@MarkFooterman
Jan 12
A very talented friend of mine, who interned w/ @GOPLeader, and at 20 was one of the highest ranked staffers in the Trump campaign, was just fired from his new job when client found out he worked for Trump. He now can't afford rent. Still think cancel culture isn't that serious?

2) After identifying myself as the subject of the thread, @Fly_PJS reached out to me, threatening to take legal action and publicly defame me if I didn't delete the tweet. Intimidated and nervous, I immediately deleted it.

3) But after thinking about it, and discussing my rights of free speech with advisors, I will not be bullied into silence. I'm now going to raise my voice louder.

4) In early January, PJS hired me to be a concierge for a contract they had with the
@NHL team, @Canes. Having worked with PJS as an operations associate for Trump Campaign HQ, I eagerly accepted the position-excited to join a company I had developed a personal relationship with.

5) After receiving a laptop, establishing a work email, and even purchasing additional work clothes, I prepared to travel to Raleigh, NC today for training. Yesterday evening, around 7 PM, PJS called and fired me without explanation.

6) I was devastated. I had gone from being employed to unemployed in a matter of seconds, and I hadn't done anything wrong.

7) I called the owner of PJS and asked for any explanation, and he told me very bluntly: the @NHL found out I worked for the Trump campaign and threatened to cancel the contract with PJS unless they fired me.

8 ) Instead of standing up for me, instead of explaining to the NHL that I, as a person, am not solely defined by my previous work on the Trump campaign, they fired me for their own company's financial gain.

9) I was upset and disappointed, but I didn't initially blame them for this decision. I wish they had stood up for me...they didn't. I didn't have any animosity towards PJS, until they tried to bully me into silence.

10) So now I'm sharing the story, in its entirety. Even though the owner told me this afternoon that he would deny everything I say if this went any further. But this is the truth, and I feel more empowered and supported if I share it with all of you.

11) I can't begin to thank all of the people who helped me through this, and have reached out to me on Twitter, LinkedIn, and by email to help. Thank you all so much! I look forward to continuing to voice the truth so this never happens to a conservative again.

This will keep happening, forever, until conservatives get serious about boycotting one or two of them into bankruptcy.

If we keep feeing them our money, we're paying for our own persecution.

But I just don't know if anyone will ever give up their TV. I've taken a big half-step myself, but it's still only a half-step.

We need to take a play out of the Alinsky book. Find a target, freeze it, destroy it. Make certain they know who/what/why. Then another, then another. The left manages to do this, and we just don't hold a grudge. Then again, I go to church on Sunday, they go to church every single day with @jack.

41 Assuming this is true (not saying it isn't but we've been burnt before on this stuff), look how attenuated the connection to the NHL is.

This is a guy who was working in an important but fairly low level position for a private airline that provided airline service of one NHL team. That's it.

He helped make sure the players got to the games. That's the only connection to the NHL. How, exactly, did anyone at the NHL even learn this guy exist?

42 It would also help if PDT dished on Biden and FISAGATE. His cowardice is isolating his supporters and tainting them with a form of "evil" that is much more prevalent in career pols. Even the accusations of supporting violence is more common in BLM supporting dems than it ever was with Trump despite the tacit consent of violence provided by Barr's evil tenure at DOJ.

46 I see bankruptcy in @NHL's future.

It doesn't have the history/legacy of the other major sports in the U.S. So stunts like this won't endear them to people like me who were ready to treat leagues relatively. That is to say NBA and NFL are out utterly; NHL marginally but recoverable.

Posted by: whatever at January 13, 2021 05:22 PM (fva2Z)

52 1. Fuck the NHL
2. Boycotting may help, but it also might not - at least not soon. Not going to games or movies or theater shows or whatever is easy. Cutting the cord is easy, too.* But a lot of money - serious amounts of money - are tied up in the distribution deals. That money is going to be paid by the carriers, networks and advertisers. Those deals are usually multi-year. Cutting it off *now* will probably pay off, but it may not pay off for several years. This will happen if enough people do it. The NFL is going to see its salary cap decline for the first time this year, and a lot of it is around eyeballs not being on screens consuming their products.

These things take a long time. Shutting it off for a month or a season won't do it. You have to shut it off forever if you want to punish them.

* For those of you only half-cutting the cord, consider a service called Philo. Philo is essentially mid-range cable, but without news or sports or local channels. Yeah, it still enriches bad actors like Discovery, but it doesn't put a nickel into the news or sports complexes.

Somebody made a comment though about ghettoization--that they were isolated zones where in theory the inhabitants were free to do as they please. They just couldn't leave.

I'm not sure that self-ghettoization is going to turn out the way we want. And we'd have to boycott so much of the marketplace that I think it would be more like creating the boundaries of our own little ghetto than anything else.

In other words, when a person acts in a deliberate way as to cause harm to another person's contractual relationship or business relationship, that person can be held liable for the injuries caused.

96 Clutch cargo,
During my yuteful period of higher ed, I actually read a lot of Marxist economic theory because ironically, I had several required econ courses that were taught by a professor of such.

One of the complaints, in foreign trade, etc. were that MultiNationalCorps (also Trans National Corps) engaged in core and periphery operations. Essentially the periphery nations (read flyover) was stripped of any economic surplus in order to feed the core advanced nations (read Silicon Valley, DC area, and Wall Street). You often see the same dynamic in states where a center city sucks the surplus capital and spending out of the rest of the state via state economic policies.

One of Montaigne's points on republics was that it works best in a small republic where basically people are homogeneous in policy desires and in wealth. Once a country's population begins to diverge in either, disaster happens. In policy, this was one of the reasons for state churches is to homogenize thoughts as to what was good/bad and what was desirable/undesirable for regime stability.

97 "But I just don't know if anyone will ever give up their TV. I've taken a big half-step myself, but it's still only a half-step."

Many of us are. We've been off cable for going on years, we cut Amazon Prime last year, Netflix the year before, wife quit FB and Instagram this year (I was never on either), and I switched to DuckDuckGo this year (search results aren't as on-point as Google, but close enough 90% of the time).

We're cataloging options for other services to that we eventually move completely away from Amazon, Hulu, Google, etc.

General principles are, if it's not feasible to drop spending on Amazon or Target or whoever from $1000 year to $0, drop it at least from $1000 to $500. And next year from $500 to $100, then to nothing.

And given the choice between multiple liberal companies, do business with the least powerful/influential one. Barnes and Noble is probably liberal, but I'll order Washington's Crossing from them because they don't own server farms and produce woke TV shows like Amazon.

98 It's harder to divest than I thought. I had a former friend who used to be open to people of different political persuasions just baldly post that she wanted anyone to defriend her who thought there was election fraud or that BLM was more violent than the January 6th incident.

So I defriended her. Even though I haven't seen her in person in over a year I am remarkably sad over this.

And I'm still trying to work myself up to delete Facebook. I haven't posted or viewed it regularly in ages but my gym posts there and family in other areas posts there.

I guess I just need to admit that if such casual contact as Facebook is the only effort I'm willing to make to stay in touch, maybe I'm not really connected after all. As an introvert it seemed like a nice compromise.

I've lived at the same house for 25 years and I used to send out Christmas cards every year and include my address and email and cell phone. If they wanted to know how to contact me - they would know.

Assuming that it's true - and I will - this almost answers itself. Why do you think folks like AOC telegraphed their intention to build their hit lists?

I would be willing to bet that no on at the NHL or the Hurricanes discovered this on their own. A Leftist data miner and list-keeper was probably assigned this person in their list of people to watch. He probably updated his LinkedIn when he got his new job, or made a Facebook post about his new employment, or something else. Very common. They then ran it up the chain to find someone in the network who could apply pressure. Maybe they struck out at the airline but found some medium/big wheel at the 'Canes or the NHL who could apply pressure by proxy.

They could have AI doing the opportunity identification, since all the tech firms have access to things like the resume sites or directly own other major professional and social platforms.

165 I cancelled Amazon Prime, although I'm still paid through March. I'll finish up this season of The Expanse, because it's two more episodes, and that's it. I need to kill my FB account as well, at least the one in my actual name. The other one is basically for keeping a list of contacts with people over the years.

Part of the problem is that you can't just cut out things, you need to replace them with something else. Buy puzzles, expand your library, start playing around with homebrewing or cheesemaking. Find something social to do: I love tango and swing dance and contra dance, for example. Take an art class.

If you just cut off TV, you'll eventually grow miserable and run back to it. You have to fill that void with something else, and make sure you avoid the triggers that led you to TV in the first place. It's like dieting: if you cut out the junk food, great. But you probably weren't eating junk food just because it was there. There's probably a trigger somewhere that you need to figure out.

We have entered the Samizdat stage of our decline. Our best bet is to hunker down, conserve assets (so yes, boycott the NHL and all entertainment) form local groups, get by day to day and wait for the left to start destroying itself.

Most people will just keep going along with whatever crap they want since they have lives to lead and families to feed. We need to be the Remnant who preserve the knowledge of the truth.

182 121 Colorado Alex,
Well, that variety of states was kind of baked in the cake as no existing colony was going to be taken over by another in 1776. It was a fortunate natural experiment that worked until an unbridgeable gap occurred at the state level regarding slavery. Returning to the pre-civil war autonomy is about the only way that this nation is going to be able to hang together peaceably and that requires neutering a large part of federal centralization since the Civil War. Don't think the nation will be able to do that. Essentially, instead of Caesar, PDT was one of the Grachi brothers. Rome at that point needed a change in regime type due to expansion and could not take the structural steps to do it. At this point, any formal constitutional reform is impossible by mutual agreement and the jerry rigged stuff by Scotus is going to fail because they cannot reflect the diversity of opinion in the nation.

Let's assume you're right about the op. So what? They had to know there were going to be infiltrators-especially that rally. And, whoever organized the event should have made it "very' clear that the Capitol is not a place to commit even the smallest of crimes.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but Americans have to realize that being part of any large group comes with risks. A mob mentality can take over in an instant. Been there, done that! Situational awareness is crucial during this time.

Look fat... Wait, wrong character.
Don't bother with the primary, you're buying into the game you can't win. You're saying I want a republican, just not that particular one. Well guess who get to choose who you choose from?

There's truly only one way to get rid of republicans, and that is to not vote for them. I get that many don't want to vote D and give "the Party" the idea that they are winning hearts and minds, but just don't vote for that slot.

Imagine 435-0 in two years. That would not only be "a good start" as the lawyer joke goes, it would send an unmistakable message; We don't like your game and we're not playing anymore.
If you've been feeling for decades like Charlie Brown after the football gets yanked away yet again, reset your mind. You're the football, and the game can't be played without you.

___________________

At the trial, Trump's lawyers should demand that the senate prove that the election wasn't stolen.

That's the basis for their claim that Trump incited people -- by falsely claiming the election had been stolen. So the senate should have the burden of proving that Trump's claim was false before they can convict him of anything.

Bwahahaha. Let's see them do that. No court has been willing to even consider hearing the evidence, so let's have the senate do it. The American people deserve to know if their elections are rigged or not. If the senate says they are not rigged, and it does say that, then prove it with evidence. Out in the open, where everybody can see it.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at January 13, 2021 05:48 PM (KZzsI)

260 157 Bertram Cabot, You can read Federalist 10 but the major point of it was that Madison made the point that a dominant faction might capture a state but due to 13 states at the time, a dominant faction in one state could not capture enough to dominate the nation. The price is that you might feel repressed in a state by a faction but that faction would be unable to repress the nation as a whole. Classic political theory argued that a diverse population required an empire model of an emperor (and perhaps a parliament with aristos and commoners) to advise and consent--not rule. In that setup, the aristos and commoners were both subjects of the ruler.
We inverted that setup with a Congress that was meant to rule with a president to manage day to day operations. But effectively, Congress has outsourced its lawmaking and budgeting to outside interests and the executive so if the executive and Congress disagree now--the executive is essentially fighting the proxies of the interest groups. Biden was selected by the interest groups as someone who will go along as was Obama. Trump either did not care nor did not want to play that game much. He thought he was there to run the country.

WRT NFL, ten years ago I watched two games on Sunday, some on Sunday night, Monday night, and sometimes Thursday night. Five years ago, I watched at about half the rate. Last year, I watched about half of my local team's games and that was it. This year I quit cold turkey after about game four.

Not quite. Gateway Pundit had a headline saying the original Italy story "Falls apart" under scrutiny. I used to be a big NFL and college football fan. I quit watching the NFL when they made it very clear that they hate me and want me to kneel or die.

I missed it for about a month. After that, I sort of quit noticing and used my time for other things. Baseball has been harder, and I am still trying to find a nice, Roku-friendly way to stream the Korean or Taiwanese or Japanese leagues. Unlike football, there *is* good baseball out there from other places, and since the game is the same it doesn't matter that you don't understand the announcers or can't read the Chyrons.

383 Some thoughts on the view from the rest of world.

The Japanese news is very woke - Most foreign news (not europe, but from countries where they do not speak English or have a lot of foreign offices in the US) get their information from the US news. So most Japanese news about the US is the US news with more ridicule and white racism.

It's funny, but I think people inside the US are more easily insulated from how fucked up it really is because they live in these little enclaves of sanity. Our fucking cities were burning all summer. Our schools are teaching boys that it is Ok to be a girl. Drugs and vice are celebrated.

You see, if you live in a Japanese town which is safe and sane, it is not much different than living in a US town. The difference is that when the US dude watches the news he thinks it is being exaggerated and that most of the US is OK. When the Japanese dude watches the US news, he thinks the whole country is fucked.

I believe that you will get a gender indeterminate person on a horse of color as your new leader. Otherwise in non woke speak, a man on a white horse in a coup.

Figure a military or deep state intel leader as most politicians have the stink of a dead fish on them. Neither Joey nor Kamala can pull off the Joe Stalin trick and rule from behind the curtain gets risky like Valerie Jarret pulling strings.

Probably be popular even until the leader screws up. Chavez undoubtedly had popular support for his rule initially as the two main political parties in Venezuela were viewed as horrible corrupt people who did nothing for the people at large which was largely true.

Of course. Don't forget - Bill Barr squashed the Hunter Biden case FOR A YEAR. Whenever documents were subpoenaed for discovery in the Flynn or Page proceedings, or demanded for declassification, our IC just said "fuck you."

There was a concerted effort up to the highest levels to carefully silo the President, and keep any pertinent intel from reaching him or the courts or the public. Nobody's gonna get information from them. Not Trump, not anyone.

398 When the CIA/FBI Coup went unpunished, they had to go on to bigger crimes to cover up the previous crimes. Hence the Mueller Fraud and CIA impeachment whistleblower, for example.

Now they've just stolen an election in broad daylight. And conspired with Antifa to create a False Flag event to frame the President and 80 million Americans. Now they must keep committing even more and greater crimes to protect those crimes.

That is why they are fully feral and mad-dog rabid, foaming at the mouth. They have reached End-Stage Liberalism and each new criminal twist spins the Death Spiral tighter and tighter, like a toilet flushing away the very Republic they shat upon.

403 Military Coup Enters Fifth Day
No end in sight
January 25, 2021 by Staff

National Guard soldiers deployed to the nation's capital to defend against white supremacist riot activity during the routine transfer of power between administrations engaged in mutiny and rebellion. Their presence was orchestrated by government leaders to ensure the transfer of power to the Biden administration went through smoothly in light of the threatening and disruptive behavior of the outgoing administration.

Over the past five days, however, these soldiers and military members from other branches have refused their duty and acted against the transition of power and the government officials. The military coup has not yet installed a junta, but they have prevented the transfer of power and disrupted all major functions of the civilian government.

The leaders of this coup appear to be largely captains and colonels who assert that the incoming administration is illegitimate and that they are fighting only for their votes to be counted fairly. This contradicts the position of the courts and other ...

412 Parler CEO Says Conservative Twitter Competitor May "Never" Return

WEDNESDAY, JAN 13, 2021 - 18:05 https://t.co/PF7ZvYSJ30?amp=1

Twitter competitor Parler may be gone for good, after Amazon Web Services (AWS) suddenly dumped the social media platform from its cloud hosting service amid a pro-Trump 'cancel crusade,' following last week's protest at the US Capitol turned deadly after a small group of activists ran amok inside the US Capitol building.

Parler CEO John Matze told Reuters on Wednesday that he does not know if or when the service will return for its 12 million users, adding that the best thing would be if they could return to Amazon.

"It could be never," he said. "We don't know yet."

WITHOUT CoO labeling, I was forced to assume that ALL of it was coming from Communist China - even tho' Laos, VietNam, Thailand, etc were also other sources. Last time I looked in the frozen section at W'mart, the CoO labeling was back on - but for how long? Aye, matey, there's the rub ...

Yes. And I've gone a good way toward that end.

We need to isolate one or two, and direct our efforts against them, until they fall or cave sufficiently. And by "cave sufficiently" I DO NOT mean issuing some corp-speak non-apology. I mean firing people at the top.

Then we go to the next.

That's the only way it's likely to work. But I won't bet on us doing so; we are too disparate, and don't live to be part of a movement the way they do. I wish our side would prove me wrong here.

478 Texas Election Official Arrested For Widespread Vote Harvesting And Fraud
January 13, 2021 https://t.co/uKsQTqdBiu?amp=1

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced the arrest of Rachel Rodriguez for election fraud, illegal voting, unlawfully assisting people voting by mail, and unlawfully possessing an official ballot. Each charge constitutes a felony under the Texas Election Code. Rodriguez was exposed in a Project Veritas video last fall while she engaged in vote harvesting leading up to the 2020 election.

The Election Fraud Division of the Office of the Attorney General reviewed dozens of hours of unedited, raw footage, which led to this arrest. In an uncharacteristic moment of honesty, Rodriguez acknowledged on video that what she was doing is illegal and that she could go to jail for it. If convicted, Rodriguez could face up to 20 years in prison.

Posted by: It's me donna at January 13, 2021 05:26 PM (Zmnko)

I'm not sure that anyone here thinks that Trump is a coward (if I'm reading this correctly). He's put more on the line for this movement - and this country - than anyone else save those who put on the uniform and man the front lines for the USA. Being president has cost him billions of dollars, and they aren't stopping with just him. His turn at the screw is just beginning, I'm afraid.

If it looks like he's retreating, it's because he just took a huge body-blow. If he's half the counterpuncher that we've seen over the last 30 years, however, we know that this isn't the last we've seen.

He also knows that most of his children are adults, and can take care of themselves.

Part of me believes that the silence of the right has led to companies actually believing that most people in the country feel that way.

We need sites that track this stuff and lists of anti-conservative companies, and GOP members to whom they can write.

Sure anyone can do it but 1) why put the effort into a site that won't get traction on the right, and 2) , we lack the support that the left has. The left has billionaires funding these groups so they don't have to worry about getting cancelled, people whose whole career is agitating for the left. Until we get ours doing the same, and people aren't worried about cancellation, it won't happen.

Look at the people on the right separating themselves from trump. If they had proper backing, they could speak more freely.

They delegitimized themselves in the process. Trump did many good things, but his most substantive were inadvertent. Half the country, and that includes many Democrats, know the election was stolen. The sham judicial system is a national joke. The FBI is universally loathed now and acting as the Stasi for the Left will not expand that hatred. The Republican Party is dead. It is just a matter of time before localities and states disconnect from the federal government.

We now live in a country where the rulers are at odds with maybe half or more of the populace. Yes, it is terrifying, but at least it is honest arrangement now.

Meanwhile, I'm willing to bet that 90% of the stupid boomers impotently whining about the NFL will be right back on their fat asses in front of the TV for the Super Bowl.

"It could be never," he said. "We don't know yet."

This dude doesn't get it. Like a man who hasn't accepted his divorce. THE LEFT HAS DECLARED WAR ON YOU, ASSHOLE.

There is no lawsuit. No patching things up. That's why your investment has blown up in your face.

Gab understood the enemy, you didn't because you're one of those liberals who think "Leftists are just libs who go a little too far." WRONG. They're the people who murdered 90 million worldwide in the 20th century. If losing your company doesn't make you understand, nothing will.

545 One reason I was looking to switch from firefox is their latest update broke the ability to hover/zoom on an item in ebay. That made deciding whether to buy or not problematic.

I tried a low level linux browser but it was too slow. I tried to load Opera but it failed somehow. So I went Chromium. If you do this, make sure you're getting Chromium and not Chrome. Chromium is the open source version which means it's not as restrictive on where to get apps and add-ons.

And it solves the blank line problem here so I don't get the spammer notice.

546 Don't forget that these companies are going woke not just because someone complains it's also because their WORKERS and the Officers of the company and probably the Board members are all on the left.

Remember all the hippies in the sixties and later? They all grew up and went into daddy's business and now they own it or are on the boards and just like in education they now control the foundational institutions of the country. This is why it seems so shocking that so many are so wrongly on the left. It doesn't look wrong to them because they've never really lived the life of socialism.

Posted by: jakee308.com at January 13, 2021 07:02 PM (FggAv)

547 And now we're going to get a chance to show them how it really works in real life and not in some textbook or in someone's fevered dreams.

The left is not good at seeing the real future outcomes or at least the negative possibilities. They only see the positive and if they just get rid of all those on the right their will be no complaints and everything will work. To them socialism doesn't work because the right won't cooperate.

They're going to find out the truth too bad we'll go along for the ride.

548 it's worse. The kid is 20. He signed a lease on an apartment and doesn't have enough money to pay the rent.

I got suspended from Twitter last night for telling a particularly nasty commenter on this kid's thread that karma's a bitch, and I hope someone kicks her when she's down. Apparently that's promoting violence in Twitter Land if you're a conservative. They suspended me before the election or a week for telling someone REEEing over the San Antonio bus chase that they were a pansy for being afraid of some pickups with flags flying. I'm done with Twitter - rules for me, not for thee.

549 OMG. I'm in my late 50s and trying to figure out how to GET tv.

How do you get tv, if you don't want cable and you're too lazy to put up an outside antennae?

550 "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

That's an old saying and there's a reason for that.

Men don't forgive but will forget. Women will forgive but never forget and when the time comes they will stick the knife in and grin.

Since your here I assume you have an internet connection.

There are devices to stream TV thru your internet connection. And boy does it clog up the internet pipes.

I guess they're easy to setup but you have to have a minimum of data stream and the size pipe to run it and it's a monthly payment I think.

If a lot of people in your neighborhood get on the net at the same time it might slow down a bit.

Posted by: jakee308.com at January 13, 2021 07:20 PM (FggAv)

552 You're right. Until we hit where it hurts in the pocketbook, most companies will just cave. The libs set the rules, ok fine they want to play this hardball game, then I guess we're gonna play.

553 I have stopped watching the NBA, NFL and NHL. I also don't buy anything from Amazon unless I absolutely can't find a item through any other source. Google is long gone as my search engine. It isn't that hard people! Do your part, no matter how small!

555 Do we need to contact major league sports teams to let them know we won't patronize them with our dollars?

I can listen on TV and radio for cheaper than a seat, a hot dog and a beer at a baseball game.

Which hockey team made the demand? Inquiring minds and all that.

Posted by: Dwayne at January 13, 2021 07:52 PM (gtu/X)

557 If we can act in concert, we can hurt them where it counts, in their earnings statements. We only have to make them uncomfortable in their boardrooms during earnings calls. We need to learn from Facistbook and others that have shot themselves in the foot by cancelling customers. Their income will suffer. Ah yes but most of us are republicans so . . . .

559 I cut the cable about 2 years ago and haven't missed it. We have a Roku with Netflix, and with a VPN I can download anything we want to see - and there is really no Hollywood product, no network tv that we ever want to watch. I gave up on all sports when the kneeling started. We have a regular antenna for local channels if we need to pull one up, but that's it. No money to HBO, ESPN, Fox or any other network.

Posted by: Happy at January 13, 2021 08:07 PM (F+55o)

562 557- years ago, when I was a finance reporter for UPI and attended annual shareholder meetings, there were often groups of people or even individuals, who owned small amounts of stock so they could castigate the officers of the corporation and make 'annoyance' shareholder proposals.
Might work today, too.
And, of course, boycott Disney.

I'll bet that it wasn't a phone call from the NHL. They were just to cowardly to own it.
