Yes. But he would be doing us what is ultimately a big favor. He would effectively put the nails in the coffin bearing "political relief" and make it clear that working within the political system is impossible and the choices are now confrontation or surrender to woke communism.

Trump's political skill isn't in 4D chess, but in being able to read people and gauge the public mood. The rally was an example of that. He also thrives on chaos and on getting his opponents to overplay their hand. The storming of the Capitol may have caused him some short-term problems, but it will also cause his opponents to overreact with this impeachment, which will drive the GOP further into Trump's camp. And it exposes who the weaklings, cowards, and opportunists are on our side.
If McConnell were to vote to impeach, a Trump-backed Patriot Party could easily sweep a lot of deep red areas. People are that pissed.

Trump was a businessman. He was used to people negotiating with him in good faith and used to people being terrified of him. He was used to winning. He also knew a lot of these people personally and had contributed money to some of them. He would try dealing with them and they would lie to him, break confidences, go behind his back, and that was just his staff. He could not find enough honest people in DC to work with him. He also thought politicians should work for the people. Too many congress people work for themselves. I don't think he could get his mind around the corruption.

It's always easier to do a hostile takeover than to build a new party from scratch. We don't have "big" cities but Sioux Falls and Rapid City are growing and of course all of us rv'ers who use South Dakota as our home of residence, may give us pockets of blue. It's so easy to get residence that I'm surprised more blue staters don't do it. And no state income tax. I hope they don't but it will surely come. Montana is an example of a state going to blue within five years.

States like the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska all have residual amounts of "Prairie Socialism" or "Prairie Populism" where ostensibly conservative and self-reliant (ahem) farmers vote Populist - Socialist - Democrat (a hundred or more years ago) because they promised to help them keep their farms in the bad years (drought years, which do come and ruin a farmer's life).

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again. Trump's failures aren't his own. He depended on people he appointed to high office and whose election campaigns he supported to do the right thing and stand by him to work for the greater good of We The People. Those people have done him wrong, and prevented him from the true successes he wanted and (thus far) the second term required to make them stick. And I don't think he understood how far the Deep State truly went, and how far down his predecessor had politicized every branch of the bureaucracy. Alex Jones wasn't a madman, he was a prophet.
And Trump has excoriated the Beltway denizens more often and in stronger terms than Eisenhower ever did. Ike issued the warning, but his party and supporters didn't believe him. It's been 60 years now, and I believe and love the old man for the warning. But we put the warning aside, and we have our reward.

I think it's trying to compare apples and oranges. The original patriots didn't have to deal with an electronic surveillance system that can track everyone's movements. That alone would probably have stopped most of them in their tracks.

And at the time he said it, the breach of the Capitol had already occurred, bomb threats had been called in, and a bomb had been discovered at the RNC (DNC was a little later). All this had already happened before the speech was done. It was preplanned and it had nothing to do with the rally. Um, no. Constitution is pretty clear on that. Removal is the only action an impeachment can result in. They can't vote on punishing a particular person, that is clearly prohibited to Congress. That said, an impeachment does preclude running for any federal political office or holding a politically appointed position

That's the flaw with all the TDS Blago. It's not enough for them to oppose him like any political opponent, he is this bogeyman that has to be torn down and destroyed, lest he ruin them for ever and ever! They've overplayed their hands time and again; if Trump had the party support he deserved they'd have been broken at this point, and he'd be telling the MSM "Hail to the Chief, you lying bitches." Not really. In Boston and most of Massachusetts both Loyalists and Patriots knew each other by name and sight. And as I've said and will say again, let's see the individual political profiles and histories of any individuals charged with serious violations (not just standing around somewhere they technically shouldn't have been - people charged with violence, disobeying police orders, trespassing as in rushing beyond points open to the public, etc). My thought is elections have always been rigged to an extent (see JFK for example) it's just more on the margins in closer votes. And they also have failed to "fix" all of them, otherwise Trump would have never been President for 4 years.

"The violence" was limited to a tiny number of people who (as I noted above) will turn out to have had zero connection to the rally or Trump, who were starting their vandalism when Trump was still speaking, and who were responding to nothing Trump has ever said or done. Trump immediately tweeted out "Stop!" message when informed of the festivities (and was shortly thereafter banned from Twitter for "incitement"!).

You're right; Trump as a regular retired president of considerable popularity could choose the next Republican nominee even before the Convention. That's why McConnell and the GOPe 4 Life crew decided to stab him in the back, when they realized that despite the crooked election Trump's support was still high. The Dems fear him because he could still undermine the Reset, and the GOPe fears him because he could make them powerless in a new wave of Trumpian partisans in D.C..

2. You raise an interesting point. In the Communist countries, the General Secretary or Party Chairman often doesn't have any official position in the government, because everything is decided by the Party and the government is just a rubber stamp. I doubt that we would ever descend to that level, but an RNC Chairman Trump could reinvigorate the role of the party.

Durham could have had findings and indictments by now, but it's also possible the case is so complicated it needs time. Yet now his team works as all the suspects take power, adding to the angry mood of dangerous suspicions.
