The Morning Report - 1/12/21 [J.J. Sefton]

Zhivtwit.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and the nightmare grows deeper and darker. Yesterday, Ace highlighted the completely unsurprising announcement from humanoid doughboy Ed Morrissey that he is now officially a Democrat because of what happened on Black Wednesday. It seems to be indicative of a trend with conservative media types (I'm looking at you, City Journal, among a few others), insofar as a shift in tone from a state of denial with laughably ridiculous "we'll get 'em next time in '22 and '24" pablum, to frothing at the mouth damnations of Trump and the tens of millions of us who support him. Forget the nearly four-year run of the most positively transformative presidency in American history as well as an electoral victory that was hijacked in front of our eyes. Because he and we dared to stage a protest on Capitol Hill- mostly aimed at a Republican Party that was acting as a conspirator to the steal after the fact - that also was hijacked by the Left and turned into a Reichstag Fire incident, he and we are to be scapegoated and blood-libeled for all time.

Even that is tame in comparison to what it sets the stage for. It's bad enough that clueless, effete Ivy League "elites" -- retreads from previous administrations and their nepot spawn whose brainstems have been pickled in Howard Zinn and the 1619 Project - are about to kick-start the Leviathan from its four years in mothballs and destroy what's left of our already lockdown-strangled economy while once again bowing down to the world's tyrants and terrorists. That's just business as usual when Democrats quote-unquote "win" elections from Republicans.

Because we dared stand athwart history and not only yell "stop!" but for a few shining years manage to put the machine in reverse, we have unleashed what David Horowitz at Frontpage Mag so aptly describes as "the totalitarian screaming to get out" from inside every progressive. Every instrumentality of a thoroughly corrupt government as well as its fascistic cronies in the pseudo-private sector are about to be brought to bear on anyone who challenges their authority or their official story.

You had better believe there are discussions among credit card companies, banks, and other financial institutions about punishing organizations they view as opposing leftist political views. In December, for example, a so-far unnamed credit card processing company refused to process donations to the American Family Association because it is socially conservative. Previously, big banks refused to bank for legal gun manufacturers after pressure from leftist activists.

This is the kind of power the left holds over all the institutions that make life possible for Americans, and they have already revealed they are not afraid to flex that power against the left's chosen enemies. All of this is merely the next step in years of campaigns to use economic pressure to control public policy...

...We all saw Big Tech and Big Media collude to hide information damaging to the left and amplify information and narratives damaging to the right. Corporations are now wielding supra-governmental power untethered by even the pretense of constitutional legitimacy, and our government seems entirely powerless to stop them.

This all moves us closer to a nongovernmental social credit system like that employed by Communist China, which economically and socially punishes people for "wrongthink." It appears that global oligarchs have decided to not only collude with China's totalitarian control over its society, but to export that social control to formerly free nations such as the United States...

...This week's escalation of totalitarian speech controls and witch hunts -- Are you now or have you ever been a supporter of Donald Trump? -- is terrifying, and not just because of the lack of defenses against leftists' demonstrated control of information and funding. If they can do this to the president of the United States, who can't these corporations do it to?

If President Trump had actually called for rioters to stop and "go home in peace," and firmly denounced violent lawbreaking while acknowledging the 99.9999999 percent of his supporters who are peaceful and lawful, but these corporations told the world he was instead "inciting violence" and encouraging "sedition," how would we ever know the truth?

If they choose to lie to us, to lie about one political party, to lie about events they use to impose draconian speech and social controls, and to ban us from ever sharing information that proves or even simply suggests they lied or aren't telling the whole story, how would we ever know it?

From Jack Cashill at American Thinker:

Reportedly, Louisiana Governor Huey Long was once asked, "Do you think we will ever have Fascism in America?" Said Long, "Sure, only we'll call it anti-Fascism." What Trump exposed, and which may prove of more lasting value than what he accomplished, was the real-life unfolding of Long's paradox...

... The "fascist" movement began with Italy's Benito Mussolini. He took the name of his party from the Latin word fasces meaning a bundle of rods gathered together in one strong hand. Starting in ten days all the rods will be gathered -- the presidency, the House, the Senate, Big Tech, Big Media, Hollywood, the CIA, the FBI, perhaps even the military. Just in the last few weeks, their collective eagerness to suppress dissent has shown up their mentors in the CCP.

To enforce the new order at the street level, the Left has developed its own private army. In a marvelous bit of self-parody, the bully boys of the new fascism, the Left's own SA, call themselves anti-fascists or Antifa for short. Huey Long had the last laugh on that one.

With his back to the wall, Trump rallied the last bulwark against this encroaching tyranny, the American people. In so doing, he showed the comically obvious hypocrisy of the Left's support for "largely peaceful" protests.

Although events this past week did not appear to work out as we might have liked, appearances can be deceiving. There were lessons learned, eyes opened. It seems somehow providential that the people's protest at the "People's House" occurred on the Epiphany.

Only a few short months ago, we sort of half-jokingly discussed "grabbing the upper bunk in gulag fun camp." It's not a joke any more. The Left has engaged in physical violence from assault and murder of individuals to mass rioting and civil unrest that have lain waste to at least a dozen urban areas. They have suspended Constitutional rights on the pretext of a health crisis that is provably marginally more deadly than seasonal flu. They have rigged and/or stolen elections with the complicity of lawmakers and jurists that looked the other way and blamed the whistleblowers. To merely dissent, protest or utter an opinion deemed not in keeping with Leftist dogma is to be a terrorist, seditionist, and all the way down to subhuman who should be exterminated. Sound familiar?

I'm always an optimist but things are going to get very dark and very quickly. G-d help us.

The coup and its witch hunt offends the Constitutional prohibition against ex post facto legislation.

You cannot subsequently criminalize behavior that was legal at the time.

I urged the president from the very beginning to take the necessary actions to prevent this persecution. He couldn't even prevent his own persecution.

People mocked those who said they were "going Galt" after Obama was elected, but you can see with your own eyes more and more of the productive, non-locust folks are saying "ef it." Some insane percentage of the American economy is driven by small business (44%, 47% - just under half, at any rate.) What happens when no one wants the risk of running a small business -- think of the "bake me a cake" crowd, not just the insane regulatory, lawsuit happy, tax 'em again environment. The whole covid hoax is just accelerating the trend.

68 How long before Rush (who may not be in this world much longer anyway) is forced off the air?

I predict that there is no replacement for Rush Limbaugh, and with the announcement that Cumulous is requiring that their talk hosts avoid subjects and follow the official narrative, talk radio is probably soon dead. Another casualty in 2021.

We will still have podcasts. May have to be creative in getting them.

I say all of that is a distraction to keep conservatives fighting amongst themselves. You see it here in the sniping between people who say the storming of the Capitol was wrong and a Reichstag fire event instigated by Antifa and those who say it was mainly patriots who stormed the castle, so to speak and that patriots are not so weak willed or stupid so as to be lead by Antifa.

89 A few years ago there was a twitter dude who liked to research, and he did an extensive twitter thread on the origins of banks deplatformng ther own customers. Went by "NickMon1112" / Nick "Monroe". His account was deleted by twitter not long after that thread.

He traced it back to a Mastercard initiative in partnership w/UN refugee efforts and Soros. IIRC, they were looking for ways to inject social justice into banking -- we must be tolerant and extend services to those who would not normally qualify based on social justice qualifications. Through that came the other side: we must also deny services to those who qualify, but do not meet social justice standards.

This has been building for years, and under the radar mostly since they've been people like Jihadwatch's Robert Spencer.

Not seeing this archived on his blog, but I'm hoping he's saved it to Telegram, where he has an account since twitter dumped him.

The goal at this stage in the war is to get the word "Insurrection" to be of common currency in our language. They are also redefining the word, if you haven't noticed, so that it no longer holds its original meaning.

This is intentional. They want to use the 14th Amendment, the Civil War Amendment, to classify people of dissent as "Insurrectionists"

Basically, to the Left, traditional American culture is deemed "insurrection" and will treated as those who actual lost in the War of Northern Aggression.

This is ironic, because the 14th Amendment was designed to be a unifying amendment, not one to give license to firing up the ovens.

143 Usually a new President get fairly high approval ratings for the first few months in office. I expect Biden will (one way or another) get high approval ratings to show he can do the job. What the actual approval ratings are, we will never know.

If we know anything now, its that "ratings" are pure propaganda and have no basis in reality. Just theater.

Sadly, far too many people still believe that the Enemedia has greater authority and integrity than the Law of Moses.

We have to do some serious introspection on a personal level and we either stand up for what we know to be right, or we resign ourselves to standing in the shadows quivering. It's all a choice, I guess. And it depends on each person's dedication to what they feel is important.

Credit unions can be a good answer. Some are great and some have big bank pretensions. In my experience, if you walk in and it feels like a big bank then you're going to be treated like you would be by a big bank.

But that's not really an answer. The better answer is for the FTC and the FDIC to start antitrust actions and revoking charters, respectively. That'll never happen, though, because the state just loves it that they've figured out how to outsource draconian censorship and controls.

They have joined the madness. But it also depends on what you buy from them. Telecoms are almost all woke, but it varies within those groups. Their entertainment products - that is, TV services and various adjuncts - are rotten to the core and everyone should drop them. Bandwidth services - that is, internet access - is a harder nut to crack. All of the ISPs are basically down with the woke brigade. But the ISP business runs on razor-thin margins and it is much more dangerous to get involved there without a state mandate. I still use Comcast for bandwidth for lack of any viable and non-hateful alternative. But the actual data service business is pretty close to a commodity or utility.

Are we really living in an America where you are literally being forbidden to talk about the massive, brazen criminality we all just witnessed on Nov. 3rd??? Forbidden???

You still have completely free speech. No one can stop you from saying anything. You'll just be punished if they don't like it. No access to employment, bank accounts, credit cards, phone or public transport. Buy an orange crate or something now while you can still afford it and go on a speaking tour of the corners near your ground level cardboard condo.

Possible, JJ, but I doubt it's plausible. I doubt it for the same reason that I doubt we'll get a China-style "social credit" system here and why I think a true "cashless" push is probably not coming in significant ways.

The reason is not that the people in charge care about law or morality or whatnot, but because those things are useful fig leaves. If you can get 80%+ outcomes while still *pretending* to be all about law and the Constitution and motherhood and apple pie, why bother? It's bad strategy and bad for your continued control. We'll still have a Constitution (on paper, though nothing else), still have elections (that are meaningless), still have money, still have "freedom" as tightly managed by the Party/corporate cabal, etc. I am not saying that these things can't happen, but I do think it is unlikely because it doesn't need to happen for them to achieve their objectives.

It was originally sold in Ohio, by Parma's Ron Mottl before he went national, as a way to fund the schools. So everyone said "yay, my property taxes will go down" as the state said LOLGF and used the revenue to offset the state's contribution. Not content with that, the lottery became its own cottage industry with tv shows like "Cash Explosion" where they herd the sheep for a chance for MOAR MONEY. It's a disgusting racket.

Elections - and the occasional "Republican" winner - are useful artifices to keep up appearances. Since the elections leave nothing to chance anymore and are well under control, why cause people to squawk by canceling them?

That goes without saying. But consider this: they won't need to be so obvious. Unless they go up against someone like Trump who has eroded existed coalitions and ridden a self-built support wave, it won't *need* to be that obvious. Do you think they'd have had to be so brazen to steal it from, say, Bush 43 in 2004? Not by a longshot.

People like Trump who are that disruptive to the status quo and build new support waves are exceedingly rare. They had to be this brazen to steal it in light of his record-smashing performance. That will not usually be necessary simply because a Trump-like event is so rare.

They hadn't brazenly attempted a transparent election theft and gotten away with it yet, either. I firmly expect that seats will still flip and everything else, but I doubt they will lose Party control of the chamber, perhaps ever again. It's good to maintain appearances, but the House is pretty big and it would be very risky to let it go to the other party, even if they think they have (or even if they do) the leadership under control.

From what I have seen, I like DeSantis. I think he would do well in the big chair. He'll never be permitted to occupy it. At this point, men like DeSantis will do *far* more good by staying home, running their states lean and mean, and working on things like nullification and flatly unconstitutional interstate unions of similarly like-minded and well-run (by government standards) states.

Guerrilla politics, not presidential politics, is where men like DeSantis can rack up actual accomplishments.

Some people are so damn addicted to the notion of a possible peaceful solution that they ignore and / or revise reality as necessary. This is a little over the top. Dems can only steal races where large, blue urban area exist where they can pump up the vote without oversight. Plenty of red Reps (and some senators) will survive. Hell, you think the Dems care if a few token sellout Republicans win seats, like Romney and Snowe? It just adds legitimacy to the facade. Even if the Republicans do win a chamber, the ultimate march towards a larger, more controlling federal government and national indebtedness will continue unabated.

________

Irrelevant. What people don't see is that 2020 was NOT the opening salvo. That was 2018. Remember all the seats that miraculously switched to the Dems, post election?

That is why I was one who did see this coming in 2020. There is absolutely no reason to expect different results going forward. Sure, in some already solid states we might see elections better run. But how many seats are involved there? To win the House we'd need to take seats in enemy territory, and that means over the pols and judges who will do their all to see we cannot.

This of course includes those states, like GA and AZ where the GOP technically is in power, but pretty much toothless.

I agree - and you're right, the country is not evenly divided at all now. Numbers of people no longer matter, that only counts in a democracy. In a fascist tyranny, the only numbers that count are who controls the military, who controls the police, who controls the bureacracy, and who controls the courts. Lenin and all his disciples have shown for a century that once a group has those, they only need abotu 10% strong support to hold on to a country for generations.

Honestly, only time will tell and I'm not smart enough to offer a guess. Obviously if we can win an election, like in 2022 (assuming that is allowed). Then, I hope politicians will start backing away from the truly crazy. Even earlier than two years I think it has to be mainly rhetorical. Perhaps we will see a mainstream Democrat condemn Antifa or a member of the squad gets publicly dressed down, and some kind of internal Democrat fight becomes public.

Posted by: Grimmy at January 12, 2021 09:00 AM (3MG/9)

Will R's win seats? Sure. They'll be allowed in just to make it look like it's fair and the people actually have a say.

If you think they won't do what they did in this election again to make sure they have supreme power, you're high.

It will take some time for them to get super majorities, especially in states like Texas and the reds, but if you didn't see the fraud attempts in Texas, for which there's been VERY little repercussion, you're not paying attention.

453 As a point to consider Al Gore and Hillary Clinton both continue to claim the elections against them were stolen.
Al Gore claimed that counting the votes yet again would have given him the win - which newspapers DID DO and found was bullshit.
Hillary Clinton claimed some facebook ads from Russia gave the win to Trump, though most democrats believe Russia manipulated the vote counts.
So...raising concerns of fraud are hardly unusual.

So we chat yesterday. he thinks everyone who "stormed the capitol" should have been mowed down.
I kindly point out that nothing has happened to BLM or ANTIFA and their blatant attacks against entire towns. He says because the capitol protestors and antifa are white, that's why. They weren't shot. but if it had been a bunch of blacks storming the capitol, they would have been slaughtered.
I ask him if the portland antifa attacks on the courthouse were an insurrection. he says no. criminal activity. I say then how is the capitol any different? Because they were incited by the President and his lies!!

500 I had faith that Saban wouldn't cower in the corner defensively like Clemson did when the Blohio QB got hurt. They backed off a bit, but still pressured the kid and made him beat them instead of letting him beat them.

*****

I think Ohio State figured out how to mix up their signals and that really hurt Clemson's defensive strategy. They've got a lot of talent, but they'll openly admit they'll steal signals and use that knowledge for the edge. Rely on that too much and you see what happens in a game where there's limited attendance so that people can't attend and record the sidelines, limited games so there's not a large body of knowledge, and a team that decides to counter it with huddles and relaying info through the QB instead of to individual players.

IIRC in an interview afterwards Ohio outright stated that they performed certain actions to make it more difficult for Clemson to steal their signals. It's interesting to see how poorly they perform when that's taken away.

511 We Boned,
Hawley and Cruz are not going to get expelled. It takes 2/3rd of the Senate to do so and GOPe is not going to do that as it reduces their grift percentages. Mitch is banking on selling those ten votes.

A lot of Dem rhetoric is designed to focus leftist anger on individuals to punish them while they go on doing something else under cover. Don't fall for it.

If you must, read Alinsky's Rules for Radicals which is their go to playbook. Same for the pointless impeachment. It is to identify a target, and freeze it in the public mind--and demand the target to submit to some humiliation.

Perhaps. I would say that it depends where you live. In WA state, the republican party at the state level makes me think of the Green party. Heard of em but do they win elections? None of consequence.
Oh, eastern WA has republican legislators and fed congress critters, but its a matter of time before the east side of the state is inundated with seattle libs who are currently leaving in droves. Of course, many are headed to Idaho and will destroy it as well.
Spokane has become a purple city now- and it is in the heart of red eastern WA. Hobos, crackheads and other urchins walk about the streets.
So replacing the GOP here would be meaningless. King county/seattle has all the numbers.

Get involved in politics at a LOCAL level. What was done in the General is what has been going on locally for years. Get involved with an election integrity group. Purge your district or county of "ghost voters," those dead voters who somehow always vote for the dems. Those nice, red zones across the country? They are the targets of Zuckerberg's millions, aided and abetted by local universities who work to turn them 'purple'. They are also where Dominion machines flip unnoticed votes, only a few dozen or maybe a few hundred, just enough to make the dem win and slowly, but surely turn the district from red to purple and then to blue.

542 Right now, let us worry about getting through the next hundred days rather than who will run or win in 2024. It is a pointless exercise at this point and little more than rumor mongering.
Instead, use this time wisely to prepare--have the FEMA recommended minimum food, medicines, etc. on hand. Have some cash on hand in case of credit card and bank disruptions. Keep cars gassed up, and so on and diversify your home power sources--solar, wind, a power inverters to use in a vehicle, etc. so at least you may have the lights on. Maybe get a broad band world radio so as to get something like the BBC foreign service.
For longer run, evaluate your financial and personal position--especially as your investments, loans, job, medical insurance, etc. may all take a hit. Develop a personal and family safety plan in case of blue flu outages. If you live in a sketchy area or a state spiraling down, be prepared to get out as crime is spiking now and home values are probably at their peak now.
Right now, none of us have the insight as to what will be nationally--so shore up your weaknesses and carry on.

544 The gigantic, foul irony in the leftist punch bowl is that BLM and Antifa were about nothing if not tearing down the institutions, constitution, monuments, history and ethos of the country.
That is your "insurrection" --and it was abetting by levels of violence on a mass scale not seen since the late 1960s.

Who was the leader of the (few) voices in defense of our constitution and way of life? That would be DJT at Mount Rushmore, and before, and since.

The incursion to the Capitol was violent, to a much lesser degree than pretty much every BLM/Antifa riot. And its purpose was to restore that institution to its function as the seat of a Constitutional republic, not to destroy it.

Regarding those 'candidates', GOPe consistently uses these tactics in primaries--they fund and run no-hope candidates in order to split the vote. That is how McCain squeaked in 2008 with simply being the last one standing.

The GOPe rigged the primaries to ensure Jeb! would be the last one standing despite his total lack of appeal and probably Nikki or Bobby, or some other ludicrous candidate as VP that could be sold as 'path' breaking.

They probably did not think Jeb! would win in 2016 against Hillary but if he did, then they would get Hillary lite type policies.

2/3rds of that particular body for expulsion--it is in the constitution. And the other bait for bubbas on the left is denying someone a seat in Congress--that was declared unconstitutional in Powell v. McCormick. The only way to remove a member is by the constitutional std. and I suspect even the Dem members with misconduct in their past like Menendez in NJ might not want to establish any other precedent for removal. You might, however, see a censure motion which depending on the minority party, can result in loss of seniority and cmte positions. There will be time enough for politics a bit later. Right now, spend your time preparing for the worst personally and hoping for the best.

Voltaire, in one of his last novels, Candide, foresaw the coming French Revolution. At the end of a lot of misadventures, the protagonist gets home safely and decides that he will tend his own garden and let the world do what it must. Voltaire was famous for his skeptical approach to faith but at the very end dying from a stroke, he recounciled with the church.

Faith is one of those things that will help people get through this if you are religiously inclined. The normalcy bias that most people assume in the US comes from a long period of peace that is ahistorical worldwide today and in the past. There is no magic dirt nor magic people and we must simply address the crisis of our time as best we can.

Start with yourself and family and then start building bridges with your neighbors (and church) and then broaden to the local community and so on. @533 Rondellila Mama gets it right.

564 562 No problem red.

The situation is as serious as I have ever seen regarding domestic politics. Effectively, a coup has happened with the oligarchs in the financial and tech industries. The open question right now is how far will they go. The key warning sign to me sign of outright repression is if the Senate Dems nuke the filibuster for general legislation in order to shove unpopular measures to ensure continuing power in 2022 and 2024 through in the first 100 days--courtpacking and mail in ballots for all elections to be exact. Then will come the criminal penalties for questioning authority.

I think we're long beyond the point where a lot more will be required. As they say "by any means necessary".

569 I'm starting to reconsider leaving the GOPe on Jan 20th. I am thinking about staying on so I have the chance to primary these useless wastes of human flesh. I was thinking of registering as a Donk so I could vote for the dumbest piece of shit they ran in the primary but I think the dumbest pieces of shit Donks already hold office. What do you guys think?

570 Yes the fascists were truly awful at least that is what history tells all good neoliberals. Do you ever wonder though if one the reasons they are so vilified is because they are the only ones who ever opposed the neoliberal order with any success?

572 I was listening to talk radio yesterday the subject being impeachment. Since the Senate won't be able to do anything until President Trump is out of office they would be trying a private citizen. (Probably not legal.) If they did do it then would a different party be able to do it to other prior Presidents?
I'm thinking the Law of Unintended Consequences would come into effect.

573 Love to peruse the length of comments. The tread actually stopped at 12:51pm until Vince decided to add a comment at 4:17 to win the brass ring.
