The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Purge: transitive verb
1 : to clear of guilt
2 : to free from moral or ceremonial defilement
3 : to cause evacuation from (purge the bowels)

All three definitions apply to our current situation, but the third one is particularly apt, because the country's bowels are filled with people like Rick Scott, who may mean well, but is fantastically out of touch with what is going on. His "business as usual" tone is maddening and, quite frankly, offensive.

Rick Scott sees 'big opportunity' for GOP to win back Senate in '22, doesn't rule out role for Trump

“I would have rather won these two Georgia seats, but I think we’re going to see a clear choice,” he said. “Over the next two years, the Democrats are going to try to do a whole bunch of things the public doesn’t want. They don’t want packing the Supreme Court. They don’t want higher taxes and more regulation. They don’t want the police defunded.”

“I think the Democrats now have the ability to go do some things. I think it’s going to help define them and I think it’s going to help us have a big win in 2022,” he added

Looking forward, Scott said he is already working hard to recruit good candidates.

He goes on to dribble more platitudes out of his mouth, with a tepid invitation to President Trump.

But if the Republican party wants to survive, they need to have a full-throated, unified roar at the malfeasance of the Democrat party and the Deep StateTM pulling the strings. And they need to act with the same intensity. That will start with a public casting-out of the traitors in the House and Senate. They can't be recalled, but they can be relegated to back offices with no staff, and tossed off every important committee. Then their reelection funding can be cut to zero. And then the minority leaders should stand up in front of the media and explain that disloyalty to the President and the party has consequences.

Of course this will never happen. Which is why Senator Scott's fantasy is a silly joke. Because we will remember. My original optimistic hope was that the Republican party would retake the House in 2022 with younger, more energetic and more Trump-like candidates. But the last week has shown me that the cowardice, venality and disloyalty in the party overwhelms love of country. They are on a sinking ship and are scrambling to sit in the first-class lounge.

Well, good luck with your plans Senator Scott. I am curious how you are going to convince me to vote for a Republican candidate who doesn't reject your brand of politics-as-usual. Will you bribe me with vacuous bromides about challenging the Democrat agenda? Will you promise some meaningless votes against the Democrat majority? Will you beg for money to retake the Senate?

Because there are some things you can do. I just named a few, but the biggest one of all is a sea change. Embrace Trumpism, because it is ascendant among American conservatives, and your brand of squishy pseudo-conservatism has been discredited. Accommodation is a thing of the past. Bipartisanship is a dirty word. Either fight for conservative principles or piss off. Unless you are even stupider than you sound, you must know that the system is broken, and either you work to repair the damage or you will be discarded by the voters whose clear, unambiguous desires you have ignored.

15 Ahhh, the great 2022 election when all of this will be erased.

While the Dems are drunk on power, we should ask them to nationalize all the major tech companies and Tesla. Also, a 99 percent wealth tax on everything over $100 million to help pay for all things Covid since we're all in this together.

They can do that or prove themselves completely useless...

21 Beyond your points, CBD, Rick Scott is also on the wrong track here because his party did nothing - absolutely nothing - to deal with the massive and obvious election fraud. There were a couple of individual people who called it out. Some greater number have been silent. The majority have vilified anyone with the temerity to suggest that election fraud is a problem.

Even if we were to assume - contrary to ample evidence - that there is a meaningful difference between the parties, how does he expect this strategy to bear any fruit given his own party's position on election fraud? There is not "vote the bastards out" if the vote itself isn't honest.

He's a fool at best.

57 The Left is Kafka-trapping us out of social existence. Our representatives, our alleged leaders, have no idea what this means and/or lack the mettle to fight it. Every time they split the difference with the Left, concede to a specious point in the Left's growing dominion of dishonesty and deceit, they dig our hole deeper.

We are increasingly alone, stripped of redress, nowhere to turn. Every attempt now to follow rules and avail ourselves of traditional avenues of relief and communal support will be stigmatized, forcing us further outside societal "norms" as they are permitted to delimit and define them. Kafka-trapping.

All four boxes, at once:
1. Organize and protest locally. Be vocal. It is not (yet) a crime to speak out against corruption and fraud. BUT you may lose your job, your bank, etc

2. Elect LOCAL people who you can control. School boards, local state reps, congressmen if you can. Vote DEMOCRAT if your local reps won't obey and be vocal about that too.

3. If called to serve on a jury, refuse to convict. File lawsuits. Work to pool money for lawfare.

82 I will never forgive or forget that the Republican party leadership left Trump hanging after November 4, 2020. They had a good thing going, and if they had successfully challenged the fraud trump would be POTUS, they would have the Senate in firm hands, and Pelosi would be ousted from her Speaker position for having bungled the House "blue wave". Instead, they choked, and the party is out of power, Trump may be lucky to escape D.C. free and alive, and the Democrats think they can do whatever, to whomever, whenever and wherever they please. The GOP can go fuck off and die, and take their stupid "next election, people" dreams with them.

Everett Dirksen famously said "there two parties in Washington - the stupid party and the evil party. Every once in a while the stupid party and the evil party get together and do something that is both stupid and evil. In Washington, that is called bipartisanship."

Now here's the ironic part. When I wanted to find the exact quote, the page where I found it was an old RedState article from the fat quisling Erickson. He was vociferously condemning bipartisan opposition to... that's right: Paul Ryan's "Path to Prosperity." He even, I'm not kidding here, said "Conservatives, this is the hill to die on."

Erickson totes HATES it when the GOP works with/for Dems. Hates it. It's the hill to die on.

84 Read more about the story of Eduard Flores JJS posted this morning. I am trying to understand why he was arrested by a joint terrorism task force and why he is held without bail. The Federal Prosecutor appears to be accusing him of possessing 1000 rounds of ammo, and 75 tactical knives. I didn't see an accusation he illegally possesses any guns (he was once before convicted of possessing firearms, a felony in NYS). Another current accusation is he was present in DC at a church when the Proud Boys took down a BLM flag and burned it. Not sure what the crime is there. Finally, it appears he made a comment online at a website about possible future travel to Washington as part of an armed group.

For all these accusations the government is asking he be held without bail in a federal lockup. I cannot imagine how much the defense costs are, and the terror his wife and two young children felt while watching the violent arrest. What in the name of America is happening?

I went so far as to search the USAJobs site yesterday for federal jobs I could apply for in the states I want to go to. They have a big banner on the site: "We're hiring!" Sure -- if you happen to be a physician or anything in the health care field. (Nurse, maybe you could try it.) Office managers, not so much.

Maybe I was searching the wrong way. The closest thing I saw was a customer service rep position for the Forest Service in AZ or NM. (Actually not a bad idea.)

They will over-reach, it's happened the last two times they controlled the presidency and both houses of Congress. Tax hikes and the attempted Hillarycare in 1994 led to the Contract with America, and Obamacare and the attempted cap-and-trade led to the 2010 red wave.

2022 should be an easy win for the Republicans in the House and Senate, so I'm sure they'll either:

A. Screw it up

107 Actually, none of the above scenarios will happen.
Now that they have gotten away with it, they will update their playbook and will continue to brazenly walk off with blatantly fraudulent elections. Their reaction to election fraud allegations has done nothing more then to confirm it for me.
So it will happen again. The pendulum will not swing back for the simple reason that the mechanism is broken. It will probably swing back in a more violent form as it does in many third world hell holes (not recommending it etc etc) but the days of America being even nominally part of the "free world" are over and to pretend otherwise is delusional.

Ignoring for a moment that if those 400K had voted, they simply would have manufactured more votes, as they successfully did in the face of record turnout for Trump in the presidential election...

Maybe some candidates that weren't a part of the machine would have made a difference.

They are no longer in power because their core voters said "nah bruh" to McYurtle's corporate stooges (just like they also did in Arizona), and stayed home (despite the actual real threat of a Marxist takeover of the Senate).

191 You know, when some of these Legacy Republicans are salivating over 2022, thinking they're going to have some big wins, they're probably right.

As frustrating as it may sound to some right now, the truth is, they got MOST of what they wanted with this election, and when they start talking about guns and abortion and family values, the vast majority of Republican voters will come home, in '22 and beyond.

So the delicate balance, of a nod toward Trump, they have to be careful about it, but in 2 years? They'll be running on being Stalwart Defenders of the President. Whether they were or not.

And it'll work.

Posted by: BurtTC at January 14, 2021 11:34 AM (oQ94s)

192 There is no national leader that is going to ride in and rescue the country. We are going to have to save ourselves. This is a grassroots level solution set, make no mistake about it.

The idea of a true purge gives me a contact high like no other. There is certainly a temptation to vote out 90% of the current GOP leadership, and force the rest into the desert for a few years until suitable reinforcements can be brought into power.

But the longer we wait, the more powerful the other side gets. We might have to fight with the army in place, but there is nothing wrong with firing a few folks and making some battlefield commissions.

Let's roll, already!

If you have elected officials who ARE doing the right thing? Pony up. Hand write them a letter, expressing gratitude. Put a check in it. If you have elected officials, who aren't, hand write them too. Let them know you will be manning phone banks, educating friends, family, neighbors.

236 Per Scott, the Dems are going to do a whole bunch of things the public doesn't want, but there base does. It may cost them an election, but at least they will move the ball forward in the direction their base wants. Meanwhile, the GOP strategy is to not enact what their base wants and just to hold onto power to prevent the left from doing worse things. That might be a great strategy but for their inability to ever hold onto power. We can't use our power because we may lose an election, yet they lose the election anyway.

241 Scott always tries to play to the middle, which is eventually impossible and almost lost him that Senate seat. It's difficult to accept, but there was never an easy way or an alternative to where we are now. Trump in 4-8 years was not going to reverse the rot in one easy shot. The globalists have had 30 years to cement their power base. The GOP is not close to being reformed, nor would it have been.

Trump did great to expose this reality to a broad base of people. To clarify the fundamental argument. We are in a far better position then were were 4 years ago, maybe even a better position than if he had won given the fundamentals. Let them let their freak flag fly! There will be a lot of pain. Hopefully ENOUGH pain to tip the scales.

309 But if the Republican party wants to survive, they need to have a full-throated, unified roar at the malfeasance of the Democrat party and the Deep StateTM pulling the strings.

--------------------

If they do all of the above they may be saved but their deafening silence since November 3 has sealed their fate and ours.

Original WWI era 1917 rifles have tapered bores like Colt revolver barrels used to be. That is why Colts generally outshot Smith & Wesson in single action. Slug it and you will get more resistance at the exit than the breech as the barrel's bore slightly narrows as the bullet moves down the barrel.

WWII era barrels do not. Dunno but suspect not on the new 1917 replacement barrels made by Criterion.

The original Carcano Long Rifles, Fusil, have gain twist barrels where the twist gets tighter toward the bore for much of the same effect.

I beg to disagree. Two generations of liberal Democrats grew up believing that third-world shitholes were the best and we should try to be just like them. So when they got their chance, they made the third-world shithole a political model, with the full support and direction of the bitter, cynical septogenarians & octogenarians who missed their chance in '68 and '00.

II recall 2 months ago that some people were shocked when I stated that there was no way the military would be on Trump's side. The grunts maybe, but not the leadership, and if there's one thing everyone in the military is trained to do, it's follow orders no matter how bad they are. So, control of the leadership is all that matters, and they've got it.

376 Not sure if this has been mentioned already. Anyone planning on traveling outside the United States must have proof of a negative COVID test from that foreign country before boarding a flight back to the US. If your test is positive, you must quarantine 14 days in that other country before being allowed to re-enter. Takes effect Jan. 26.

Considering there are a lot of false positive tests... this could get expensive if you have to keep quarantining. What happens when you run out of hotel money?

I guess the first step in saving the country from Communism would be to dismiss the Joint Chiefs then. I hear SecDef moved the Special Forces directly under him - they knew there were traitors.

If the military is all about following orders, they will follow the orders of the POTUS, not his subordinates. They probably have a decent idea of who needs to be relieved, and/or arrested. If there's A PLAN, Gen Flynn probably authored it.

I don't know. That seems to imply that the GOP are not working towards the same ends as the dems. Maybe with a few minor adjustments one way or another, but a socialized, globalized America whose role is the transfer it's citizens' wealth to the third world and to serve as the global po0lice force. I think the arguments about cocktail parties or being loved by the media miss the point a bit. They are well compensated employees of th4 donor class.

Posted by: Keith at January 14, 2021 12:15 PM (jdGlx)

402 There is a third method. For a primer how old school politics used to work, buy a copy of Robert A. Heinlein's Take Back Your Government. One of the major weaknesses of political organizations is that they are basically hijacked by political consultant grifters out to make their money. The idiotic robo-calls, endless mail flyers with expensive color printing, slick radio and tv ads are all design to line the pocket of the consultant and provide kickbacks to the party chieftains. Essentially, local and state parties require you use these grifters to be 'approved' or 'favored'.

The third method goes explicitly low tech and is almost like an underground operation. So, for example, create some parallel local and state organization, to keep the grifters out--explicitly require all vendors, candidate endorsements, policy statements, etc. to be approved via direct caucus votes. In other words, the leaders do not get to 'rule' and people in the organization must agree to follow the majority will or get out.

Seed a few folks of your organization into the regular party organization, even as envelope lickers to keep up with the collaborationists. To be continued.

Yeah, this was happening sooner or later, either cheat and have it happen now, or Trump wins, and it happens in 2024. There were just things he could have gotten done in those 4 years, but not now.
======
I don't think so. If Trump had gotten the landslide he so honestly deserved, he would've become the true power in the GOP. The oldsters and gamesters would've bowed to his power, and would have supported the Trump agenda because rising tide, etc. Trump would have set the model for a new generation of GOP populists, instead of trans-Atlantic globalists. the Democrats would've rent themselves with the young radicals denouncing the machine politicians for being rich white losers. America First would've been the law of the land, and we might've had some hope for this new century. Too bad that road will remain forever untaken...

Comparisons with the Egyptian army kicking out the Muslim Brotherhood, or the Greek army getting rid of a nutty government don't apply to the US. The US army has literally NO experience of acting outside government control. They've never done it, and I don't think they can even imagine doing it. 415 Heinlein mentions some in person meetings and techniques to manage the caucus system. Then he mentions about candidates, etc. and how to deal with them.
The major issue is build trust and support first on local and state issues where people are more apolitical. Then, you can work the system by remaining separate and the organization can choose or not choose to endorse a candidate. The method works and is how reform candidates defeated city machines back in the day where the ballot counting were just as crooked as today. After your group becomes entrenched locally as a power to be feared and reckoned with, then affiliate and aid similar groups locally. This is particularly important in suburbs and you must make the rules regarding caucusing and binding people absolute even if you piss off people. The fact is it is harder to buy off dozens and eventually hundreds of people than a few officers running a top down operation.
The major power is the power to endorse. BTW, I have been involved in local politics since I retired from any state and national foodfights and we have taken on the Chamber of Commerce crowd of grifters frequently and beat their butts in the primaries.

421 So, even now, your local races and perhaps your state races will still have the largest impact on your day to day life and not voting will simply hand your local and maybe state government over to the grifters of the Uniparty.

But, the truth is that no one likes them even most Dems do not really 'like' many of their candidates--like the other side, they tolerate them in order to get what they want. We have to be the same and the way that the leftists get their way with the Dems is through outside groups that make them vulnerable to replacement. AOC and the young Turks anyone? So two can play that game by going around the system, eschewing hi tech, and going back to good ole door knocking.

SCOTUS is now irrelevant, a byword, a tax.

424 LOL, the GOP thinks the steal, mailin voting will stop. ROFLMAO. OMG, you are never getting control of ANYTHING ever again. You had the chance to investigate and sat on your thumbs jerking each other off. You are done idiots. The Dems are never giving up the steal, malin voting. F-------D

425 Also from Pompeo:

Same day as the blackout of the Vatican (which is said to have been involved in actually performing the Steal, with help from a couple of top Italian officials) Pompeo Tweets:
"Treaties, like alliances, can outlast their sell-by date. Always have to keep evaluating their usefulness."
WTH was that all about? Well, that was an attack on the US, and Italy is in NATO.

The next day he Tweets: "Looking forward to my upcoming travel on January 13-14 to Brussels, to re-affirm the deep and enduring partnership between the U.S. and Belgium." Really dude? Isn't NATO HQ in Brussels?

426 I think that's exactly it, a power play. "See, we picked the worst possible ticket, ran the worst conceivable campaign, then stole the election anyway. What are you going to do about it, bitch? That's right, nothing"

And the Republicans said yes sir, no sir, can I have another. How can anyone respect such cowardice?

Posted by: President Elect Decaf at January 14, 2021 12:32 PM (hpVf/)

427 416 ... The old tired communist and socialist labels need to be retired. Most Millenials and Gen Y have little baggage regarding the commies and associate it with successful China, not the Sov. Union. The truth is that much of the Republican party leaders is of the corporate class of professional grifters. They either make their money and try to buy love in the party as an ego statement (campaign consultants luuvv them due to self financing) or they are using the party to build their own network for quid pro quos and soft graft (jobs, contracts, etc.). Apolitical would be closer to the mark for these. Both share the ideas of our corporate classes--heal the world including places like Afghanistan, stripmine the wealth from middle and working classes via corporate gimmes and allocation of tax burdens, and liberal social views about others. They do believe that they are superior to others and that the rank and file are ignorant POS.
The Dems have their own corporate class but they do not have the problem as much bridging social issues as the overwhelming borg mind is on the left anyway. For the Dems, the internal fight is over grifting versus true economic type communism.

428 And that why both parties are panicking and wanting to impeach Trump
because at the next election he would get 150 million votes.

Posted by: President Elect Decaf at January 14, 2021 12:21 PM (hpVf/)

It won't matter. Harris will get 160 million votes.I predict that there will be more votes counted in the next presidential election than there are people registered to vote. And it won't matter.

429 425- so, Pompeo knew about the steal and NATO was involved too. He was going to get his personal report and compare notes?

431 400k less Republican votes in the GA senatorial run off race allowed the Dems to take the Senate. If you're on the LIB wagon that was a good thing.

A lot LESS than 400k votes allowed Gary Peters to defeat John James in Michigan. I don't understand why Georgia got so much attention when the cheating was more obvious in Michigan.

The idea is, we verified the Italian involvement in the Steal, and it created a problem for the alliance.

435 Trump-like candidates

One complaint about that phrase: Trump is not a conservative. I want *conservatives* who fight like Trump.

They are on a sinking ship and are scrambling to sit in the first-class lounge.

The key is they think the lounge will still be above the waterline when all is said and done. They think there will still be a boat to run.

436 Doesn't Rick Scott realize that elections are a thing of the past?
This is the Joe Biden/DNC congress now. Elections are formalities, nothing more. They will choose the winners now. And if they cannot, they know how to rig the ballot system. And poor Rick Scott will just cowtow and say "Well, we'll get to the bottom of this..next time...". Eventually, it will be his turn, and he will be rigged into the unemployment line.

437 I don't understand why Georgia got so much attention when the cheating was more obvious in Michigan.

Because Michigan is known to cheat. It's like Illinois, New York or New Jersey. They are dem machine states, can do what they want and no one will ever stop them.

Posted by: Chemist at January 14, 2021 01:09 PM (HJMJw)

438 He does have something of a point though: the GOP or any other non-leftist party that comes out of all this is going to need more big dogs than just Donald Trump talking about himself, as well as an actual plan. And that plan needs to extend to the state and local level, in places that aren't dominated by leftist assholes but might swing that way if the local non-leftists remain useless.

440 Heckuva thing, no, when your entire campaign is focused on trying to convince people that you're going to spend the next term undoing everything the previous term did.

442 A-freaking men. I live in Nebraska, and our GOP produces some of the most feckless, worthless candidates. Ever. See Ben Sasse, Deb Fischer, Jeff Fortenberry, Adrian Smith and Gen. Don Bacon.

Posted by: SaltyD at January 14, 2021 08:17 PM (yJUZm)

443 Scott and Rubio are indeed on my "don't vote for again" list. I wrote both, twice, exhorting them to stand with their Florida constituents who voted decisively for Trump to stop the steel and challenge the 6 states.

Of the two votes held, Rubio voted no on both.

Scott was slimier - he voted yes on one and no on the other. Obviously trying to kiss everyone's arse.

We know who our friends are now. Gaetz came through like a rock star. That Texas guy with an eye patch, who I thought could be president, is dead to me now.
