I've felt like that before.
You do everything in your power to help and guide and love and get the snot kicked out of you for your efforts. The angel is not just wounded, but has been heartbroken. Look at the slump in the shoulders. This is a creation of God. And it has been reduced to being carried by others. My first impression of the litter bearers was that they were kids dressed like adults. You see that kind of thing sometimes in Central American folk art. Now I think maybe they're supposed to be dumpy adults. Kind of changes the scale of the whole scene one way or the other.

I'm not especially fond of this style of painting. It can be a bit bizarre to the point where it gets in the way of 'the message'. Some are better than others. This painting is still effective with its blocks of color and the center of brilliant white. I'm sure there is a commonly known Finnish story behind the image but I don't know what it is. That detracts from the effectiveness of the painting.
The contrast between this style and Hugo Simberg's portraits is significant. The portraits are much more realistic and remind me of the Scandi 'look' I like so much. Posted by: JTB at January 18, 2021 09:47 AM (7EjX1) 46

The Bureau recognizes that these services can be used for a wide range of permitted purposes, including speech that is protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Amateur and Personal Radio Services, however, may not be used to commit or facilitate crimes. The similarities between her and Obama are striking. Both nobodies before overnight becoming political super stars. Both born to foreign parents and spending their childhoods overseas. It's also illegal to key on a radio if you do not have a GMSR or Ham license. As I said in the EMT, the FCC must have gotten a metric fuckton of of GMSR and Ham license requests in the last couple of weeks, with the deplatforming and the general state of the country. Even the full power of the NSA couldn't monitor that amount of spectrum. But it's looking like they are going to prioritize "domestic terrorism." over foreign terror. Which looking at the last 50 years, foreign terror monitoring has not really been a priority of the LE/IC. Posted by: Thomas Bender at January 18, 2021 11:01 AM (6OqHa) 323

Even though a fraud is POTUS, he is POTUS. To think that troops would do any less is the worst possible insult. To also believe that troops would fire on protesters or somehow and armed force should be used to intimidate protests is perhaps one of the saddest and most diabolical things in the history of our republic. I think the high point of Biden-Harris's administration will be Wednesday, and it's all downhill from there. The incompetence will be instructive to many idiots who thought they would be better off without Trump, so in the long run it may not be a bad thing. But in the short run it will suck. I keep thinking about the Old Testament Israelites, who kept screwing up and getting punished by God, and then they would straighten out for a while and things would be great, and then they would start worshipping idols again.
