Repeating for the daywalkers. Miss Delilah was Best in Show yesterday at Nolan River under Mrs. Inge Semenschin. There were 1600 dogs competing yesterday and she beat some high rollers, considering there are only two clusters in the US this last weekend. This weekend we got a good start. Paid off the credit card. Put extra money to the mortgage principle. Eliminated Facebook and Twitter and Amazon from our lives. Today we got the covid cash. Yesterday on the book thread I mentioned that I am reading a wonderful book called "Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret". Rev Taylor was a medical missionary for years in China and had to deal with handling a large operation of people and correspondence and while there he experienced sickness, death of family members and crises in China including family and revolt. He got strength from regularly resting in God and reading Scripture and often he would be up late a night singing bits from his favorite hymns. Once, a co-worker heard him whistling the tune from the words of this hymn:" "Jesus I am resting., resting in the joy of what thou art; I am finding out the greatness of thy loving heart. The younger co-worker said to Mr. Taylor, "how can you whistle when our friends are in so much danger. Hudson Taylor replied quietly: "Would you have me be anxious and troubled? That would not help them and would certainly incapacitate me for my work" I just have to roll the burden on the Lord."

@240 - It is in St. Pete, in a big ass concrete museum repurposed from aviation or something like that and capable of withstanding a CAT 5 hurricane.
It was in Ohio before that bc the owner of Dali's portfolio (a plastics magnate) was concerned that if he kept it in his personal collection the IRS would come calling bc he paid Dali a lot of money but far less than market value. The same thing had happened to the owner of the Picasso portfolio a few years prior so it was a well-founded concern. The St Pete museum has a bad ass VR experience with sight and sound where you go into one of his paintings (forget the name but it's a beach scene with two towers). You can go into the towers, walk up to the cliff face and look around, etc. ... occasionally monstrous elephants with daddy long legs walk by when you're walking the beach. Very bizarre. There were 1600 dogs competing yesterday and she beat some high rollers, considering there are only two clusters in the US this last weekend. To put her win in perspective, there are some 1000 all-breed shows a year and it's a very tiny number of dogs that go BIS in all those events. Lila has joined that elite. Her grandmother Lacey was a multiple BIS winner as well. Blood will tell! Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh That is awesome! Congratulations! Posted by: rickb223 at January 11, 2021 10:33 AM (R0PNN) 296

skeptical we'll see interest rate increases any time soon.
dunno my guess is inflation this year will on the rise in a significant manner == they'll adjust how they calculate it under a Biden admin. also, the tech revolution has actually held inflation somewhat in check. It hasn't reduce the price of eggs, milk or cereal, but Big Screen TV's used to cost 10, or 20k. Now you can get one for a couple of hundred bucks. Price of oil down, but you don't notice it as much because the states all stepped in to jack up their gas taxes. Posted by: simplemind at January 11, 2021 10:36 AM (nJFSQ) 305

EVELOPING: Democrats in both the House and Senate are planning to draft legislation to classify MAGA rallies as "domestic terrorist activity" and require the FBI, DOJ DHS to take steps to prevent such "domestic terrorism." Sen. Durbin is leading effort along with Rep Schneider.
_________________ People will just change the name of the rallies to something other than MAGA, and the law will have to label as "domestic terrorists" any rally where the speakers defend the U.S. constitution, advocate for domestic and foreign policies that put American interests first, argue for the necessity of secure borders and equal application of the rule of law, etc. So how long before words like "United States of America," "constitution," "bill of rights," "national sovereignty," etc., get officially classified as "hate speech"? I've seen some comments elsewhere that suggest Gab will have some number of new servers online "this week" that will help, but not fix the overwhelming number of new accounts that have been created. Note that many of those are leftists following others to continue the harassment and shit in that bed.
Parler is another story. They don't have servers, only data and are looking for someone, anyone to house them. I don't recall where they're looking or what hosting farm has accepted them. Lastly, just because Gab and/or Parler find homes, increase capacity doesn't mean they'll survive. ISP's like Comcast, ATT, etc. can decline to provide networking capabilities to either or both, thus keeping those sites offline for millions of people. Yeah, well that's water under the bridge, if they can't get anyone to host them then they are going to be down for a while as building out your own data center, replication and distribution infrastructure is going to take a while. Lead time on the iron they need is at a minimum 3 to 6 months. Lead time on the pipe is at a minimum 8 weeks before order to circuits being switched on. I don't know enough about VMs but I was wondering if it would be possible to set things up so that folks could volunteer to let an outfit like Parler put a VM on their computer and connect it to other voluntary VMs across the country to provide services. I think in these days of lots of people having high speed internet to allow streaming movies the bandwidth is out there to allow this. Amazing, if I'd ask anyone what the mortality rate for the flu was and how many died that particular year from it for the last 40+ years of my existence, no one save for a handful of epidemiologists on some obscure website would know.
Now it seems as if everyone is an expert, either good or bad. But the bottom line was, no one either knew or cared. I've chosen to maintain the status quo. Posted by: josephistan at January 11, 2021 11:12 AM (Izzlo) Yes, states like CA and NY with draconian mask mandates are still spiking Covid, yet their government officials keep doubling down on masking. Anyone who has critical thinking skills would see there is no logic AT ALL in this. Posted by: charlotte the sailor TRUMP WON! at January 11, 2021 11:15 AM (/rsCS) 533

I don't meant this to sound snarky. It really isn't since I have been affected by depression myself : Do you need new meds, or what else can you than gives you joy-even simple things.

I know that Blaster, but cloud services is just putting VMs on big servers that Amazon or MS or Alibaba owns and most people probably use less than 1/2 of the computer's capacity at their peak. Gamers probably the exception. I just wonder if one couldn't install a VM on John Doe's computer times a million John Does and only need actual hardware to run backup tapes (or whatever backup medium) and some central control services to direct the distributed VMs.
People may also have to break themselves of wanting instant responses and conservatives go back to list serves, but I don't think the list serve model scales to a very big group of people like gab, parler and the commie twitter and FB allow. some, too. It is terrible that our government is in collusion with the commies who made it, isn't it? The rest were false positives, and money-grubbing hospitals wanting more of the sweet, sweet covid cash: -with- covid. Posted by: Flyover of the Four Lights...Yes.. I posted months ago how hospitals are scamming because most patients are on Medicare and the original relief bill from Congress quadrupled the payments if COVID was listed as cause of death/hospital stay. So, yeah.. there is some of that. But it is still pretty deadly for certain age groups. Thousands of New York nursing home residents didn't just up and die from propaganda! Stop it Chi-town Jerry,
You do know that they have strict rules for who actually dies from flu versus the loosey goosey reporting of Covid death and government funds ride on a covid diagnosis. The usual complication for flu deaths is bacterial pneumonia developing. However, the deaths are reported as pneumonia, NOT the flu. NCHS has the combined stats and it is about 58000 per year die of flu+pneumonia. Took all of a couple of seconds to google it. For the very old, particularly those in nursing homes or rehab hospitals, it is very deadly but then again so is the flu but a lot of that is due to immunity resistance being ineffective for the old and being confined in an area where viral loads are probably greater than an casual encounter in a bar. Neighbors on both sides around my house had it go through their families and no deaths or serious complications. One of the reasons that lockdowns are simply not working is you are now confining people to a house in constant contact--one gets it, they all get it. Posted by: you can get your anxiety treated......... Typical yearly flu deaths for USA only - 11,000 to 60,000 We are near 400,000 currently for COVID. --- 377,000 which would be in range you calculated. That would not address the "attributed to" vs. "caused" issue. 1.9 million WW deaths, is now where near the Spanish Flu. Do you have any details on the age, or health status of the individual who died? I can tell you the only people who died in my wife's large practice were immune comprised. 3 people. Plenty of folks got sick and got better. Some hospitalized but very few. Your own health my be at risk from more than a covid infection. You can get help. You don't have to live with crippling anxiety. Posted by: they can treat anxiety effectively at January 11, 2021 11:24 AM (hB/z7) 543

There is also the unseen number of deaths caused by people with anxiety about Covid and avoiding or being prevented from accessing crucially needed medical care such as cancer and heart followups.
It is not good to live life in fear from incomplete information that is cherrypicked to support your personal fear. If you are that worried about it, sign up for the vaccine but that has risks (unknown right now) of its own including that you might still get it and transmit it--just a lighter case. Posted by: whig at January 11, 2021 11:29 AM (pO7gM) 545
Controversy now; deliver all vaccine now or hold some back for the second shot. Politicians want it all out now. Guess they figure half assed is good enough for show.
Full disclosure, I've had my first one. Posted by: Javems at January 11, 2021 11:29 AM (8SSHh) 546
Several dozen innocent people have been murdered, and a trillion dollars (or more) property damage has occurred because of George Floyd's death.
_____________ Yep, Floyd was not only passing counterfeit money, but his death was the result of his own decision to shove a 3x lethal amount of fentanyl up his butt before the cops even detained him. And as the trial (if it ever gets held) is going to show, the cops followed their training exactly. When confronted with a suspected drug addict subject demonstrating symptoms of excited delirium (as Floyd clearly was), they were trained to restrain the subject prone on the ground, with their knee on his neck, and call EMTs. The reason for the restraint was that addicts experiencing excited delirium can thrash around and injure themselves. The training manuals even contain a "how to" photo of a cop doing this exact restraint. Is a MN jury going to be willing to send cops to prison for doing exactly what they'd been trained to do by the black Democrat-run PD? On AVG FLU DEATHS OVER A 50 YEAR CYCLE. ...and you are relying on their 400k #...good god you are a fucking dunce. Chicago is a good place for you. Posted by: garrett == Not exactly - for example in 2017 2018 there were 61,000 flu deaths. 2014 2015 50,000 or so. It depends on the year but 60K is high. 400K would very high if they were all the same cause. you really have to compare the total deaths with this years deaths to see because there is no flu being diagnosed, because they stopped testing for it. I think it will be within 10% of last year. We won't have the final numbers until February probably. It has gone up a couple of percent for like the last 10 or 15 years I think. So the increase would be maybe 7% of around 2.8 million. Not a small number. Posted by: they can treat anxiety effectively at January 11, 2021 11:30 AM (H1qH2) 548
