NB, have you heard even one single member of Congress defend the people occupying the building briefly in order to demand a redress of grievances, which has been denied through every other legal channel tried so far? Because I remember more than a few of them defending the Burn, Loot, Murder this summer, and some of them even tossed some coin to the bail funds of those arrested for such.

Why are we drawing the line at office buildings where Congress works as opposed to people's homes and businesses?
++++ I have to assume that this was rhetorical. We all know the answer. And it isn't even as straightforward as "because congressmen are there, and they're more important than the proles." In reality, it is "because deep state and Left/socialist official operators are there, and they're more important than anyone." If Congress were split up and *only* the Republican side was breached, there would likely have been no response. It doesn't even matter that most official Republicans are aligned to the "correct" side - they're still expendable. I don't think the official Republicans realize that, though. _______ It's outrageous the way they've leapt out, supposedly from our side. Power Line is a disgrace (removed my bookmark.) I fully predict that they will soon go through the sequence of saying (a) Biden is the legitimate president, (b) questioning that is crazy, and (c) such questions are banned. They will "resist" only in criticizing the regime on an ever narrowing spectrum of permitted issues. Then they'll be cancelled, too. After this site, but it will come. They chose dishonor, and will not get peace. And, as usual, when it comes to denouncing deplorables, there is no 24-hour, let alone 3-day rule. Reminds me of Covington in that. But seriously, what IS the correct response here, when the government is so obviously corrupt, and will not even allow a trial to air the issues? - Except for a handful of them, Republicans are all Mitt Romney. -our Senate and House denied evidence of wrongdoing so we could all 'just get along', after destroying our lives and taking our money to live well while we couldn't work. - Democrats are pure evil ready, willing, and able to deny reality if it helps them stay in power. -The institutions we defended are now helping to destroy us. - many on the left sincerely do not believe that there were major, violent riots in the US during the past 6 month. -the left is suddenly all for the police, rule of law and for shooting unarmed protesters. Exactly. We are being played. The media excuses leftist violence because Antifa and BLM are the armed wings of the democrat party. The moral corruption of the left is evident in elevating criminals as saints if they are black, painting all whites as evil, and completely ignoring the victims of leftist violence regardless of their skin color or party affiliation. The media ginned up violence all year and no one has been held accountable.

I am truly saddened by the lack of outrage over the loss of life.
If a Senator even bothered to mention "the woman killed" in their blovations last night, it was a glancing nod and, for Democrats, a tacit implication that TRUMP of all people has blood on his hands. No one knew her name. Not a damn one of them. Had this been a BLM event, they would have not only known her name, but would have already had details of her life, her legacy, and family. They would have DEMANDED that the certification of results be delayed to honor her life. And yet, I am expected to memorize and recite every person BLM has coronated with sainthood. All that is true. So where do we go from here. We won't go back to where we were - those bonds were dissolving long before Trump came along. I have doubts we will see a 3rd party - at least not long term. A new party can come along - the GOP is proof of that. And maybe we are about to enter a period like our country was in between the 1850's where some parties rise up before we settle down with 2. We can no longer keep compromising, so it makes sense. Just like there was no further room to compromise then.

If it's not abundantly clear, it should be: The Republican Party is not YOUR party. It's their party. And the people who get elected under that banner, they answer, not to you, but the big money supporters.

"If your outrage only flows in one direction, which is even true of many GOP people, you are not the solution."
this is a fair point, but imo not really THE Point. ---Their outrage is against patriots, and is orchestrated by the psychological warfare of ? CIA, DeepState, whomever. It is not a moral equivalence of "oh you just hate it when we do it". Their hate was there against the peaceful demonstration (which was 99% of it). --- The little violence yesterday was by (maybe) a few Antifa that infiltrated. There was some destruction, but even that seemed led by Antifa, with Patriots actually trying to stop them. ---- And even if there is a violent uprising at some point, it will be after long and deep suffering and attacks. We have not put them out of work for being Biden supporters, or banned them from social media, censored them. The moral equivalence argument .. .I don't like it. We are nothing like them. Lot's of navel gazing these the next two weeks.
We could write a book about the things Trump "should've done." He wasn't perfect, but he went from private sector to White House for crying out loud. His greatest weakness, imo, was his 1950s viewpoint. He looked at government and military the way a child in the 50s did. Stars and Stripes forever. I pledge allegiance to the flag. Sparklers on the fourth of July. Shake the hand of a WW2 vet. He knew they were corrupt, the swamp, but he couldnt get over his belief that, at the end of the day, people in power wanted to help America. He just thought they were too weak, stupid or slow to do it. He thought he'd go there as "boss" and lead us to glory. Amazing how good he was. Imagine if he'd been given help. He wasn't perfect but what's really sad is 75% of what made him great was just his willingness to keep the promises that got him elected in the first place. A few times he used his NYC negotiation skills to get shit done, but his real legacy will be that he was an honest politician, and that he exposed not only how rare such things are, but how vehemently hated they are by the rest of our "elected leaders." To be an American is to believe in liberty and the rule of law. It also means that from time to time, liberty and law are so irreparably injured by those in power that appropriate pushback is required. For small offenses? The ballot box. For greater offenses? Mass demonstrations and hounding politicians. But in some cases... where the law and the Republic are so directly attacked... in some cases more direct and violent revolution is the ONLY solution.
The election was stolen. In the last, desperate flailing of the Corrupt Elites after four years of attempted coups. There is NOTHING out of line about yesterday, except perhaps an excess restraint on the part of the crowd not laying hold to every member of congress and firing up the hot pitch. If the shoe were on the other foot... the people who spent last summer burning cities and killing authorities would have burned the capital to the ground, along with most of DC. There has never been a government regime affected very much by massive refusal to vote. That sort of thing sounds good but effectively has no impact any more than Insty's insistance that the left will not like the new rules or go woke get broke. The US nattered at other governments such as Venezuela when the opposition tried that tactic and exactly how did that work out for the Venezuelan opposition.
Note, that in both cases, the left does not care about hypocrisy, moderates, and certainly not anyone on the right. People without consciences or filled with zealotry are not persuadable by such things. They simply do not care if they have the power and if they wish--the voting will be done for you comrade, in your name, even if you do not wish to participate. So go ahead a vote, vote writein for your favorite character in a movie, play or book, (if you vote for John Locke, you might actually be able to track your own vote with certainty.) You might also be able to affect the minor offices at the local level which DO have a great impact day to day on your quality of life. Posted by: whig at January 07, 2021 01:08 PM (pO7gM) 190

Want the GOP to die? Wanna send a message loud and clear? Not one dime, not one vote. Easy Peasy.
I'm sure you're thinking that would ruin the country quickly so go ahead and vote for a so-called conservative local government. But not one vote for a DC-based politician. In two years, it could be 435-0 in the house and a supermajority in the Senate. Who takes the blame when things turn to shit (and they will) then? But that is the way to send a message to the GOP. You withhold your vote. Begging to be tossed a bone once in a while makes you a dog, not a man. Posted by: OneEyedJack at January 07, 2021 01:14 PM (z79tQ) 241

There has never been a government regime affected very much by massive refusal to vote.
Those same regimes also didn't give a shit if you voted or not - because they controlled all the choices. Just like this regime. So you do you. Run your ass out there. Do your "civic duty". And keep telling yourself - sure, they rigged a Presidential election and probably two Senate races. But my ballot for dog catcher matters !!! It would be funny, if it wasn't so surreal. for the Michigan peeps. I received a very lengthy, detailed letter from the Michigan Senate Leader, Mike Shirkey. In it he details what the Michigan Senate Committee on elections has been doing regarding hearings, etc. of fraud in the Michigan election.
In it he details the allegations levied in various areas of the state and the amount and type of testimony given regarding the allegations and the refute of those allegations. Who testified, etc. Bottom line, there was no widespread fraud in Michigan, there was human error, which the committee will continue to determine how to mitigate in future elections with new stronger laws. He reiterated in detail the five lawsuits brought from outside organized groups to sue the state pre election to challenge election laws and how they were all won in favor of the Republicans and no election laws were changed. The Republicans would welcome an outside forensic audit of the election to further find evidence of fraud and recommendations of how to eliminate it. They know residents wanted the electoral vote decertified but felt in good conscience they could not do it because of the lack of evidence of widespread fraud. The hardest truth is to see this for what it really is. This is the beginning of the end.
Watch the Skies, Christ's return is coming. Posted by: The Warning at January 07, 2021 11:16 AM Sorry, from the last thread..beware and know that a false one comes before the True Christ. A lot of people will run to the first supernatural being that comes.. wait for the True Christ and know the chronological order of things..Many will be deceived This is important and we may not have much time to comment. But it's exactly right. Folks will flock to the Antichrist out of sheer desperation, as much as the desire to have their evil ways applauded. Christ's return will either take as directly to the Judgement or the Rapture will turn out to be a thing, but in either case it will be not be arguable. 247 turnthepage,
You are not familiar with Venezuela or other places such as California, etc. What resistance to policies (either passive or directly) by the central government was done by regional and local officials that were more responsive to people. As the scale goes down the degree of grifting opportunities lessen and so a choice of local officials do matter. For example, if by not voting, your new council puts a slum next to you or a medical marijuana store etc., defunds and removes the local police, jacks up your local property and sales taxes for "fairness" etc. This is not something easily fixed by refusing to participate just as creating a new party from scratch is not easily done. Most of the effective resistance to Obama's regime was local and state and that will continue to be the case here. Refusal to vote is simply making sure that NONE of your representatives having force over your life care about you. Posted by: whig at January 07, 2021 01:23 PM (pO7gM) 324

Insty has not been the same since he learned his "lesson"--he was investigated by his university regarding his statement of how people should simply run over protesters blocking escape via a vehicle. I suspect that he also makes coin by being an active owner in PJMedia and via his Amazon affiliate status (and now advertising). Those would be threatened if he expressed anything other than 'mainstream' views. It would also affect his real requirement of publications in law reviews necessary to keep his job. This was not about physical threats to anyone - none of those people were there to harm or destroy and everyone knew that.
They were there to yell at the politicians and be heard, and that had to be prevented. This reminds me or a time back in the 90s I was on Tienanmen Sq. and 3 women (looked like 3 generations of one family) held up a banner. Well as soon as they got it up the ccp rats popped out of the woodwork to tackle them and hustle them into a white van. It was scary how much effort they put into preventing people from being heard. Guys enough with the bullshit about Pence. Pence did what his job legally required him to do. The constitution states the VP is to open the electoral votes and count them. In fact it says SHALL, not count em if you think they are good.
His lawyers told him this, Trump's lawyers, tried to find some constitutional worm hole that would permit him to refuse to count electors from problem state. He chose to protect the VP office by counting the electors and then allowing the Senate to object and debate. The internet bloggers came up with this "Mike Pence can stop the steal" crap and the Trump campaign lawyers tried to talk Pence into doing it. What Pence did yesterday , IMO, was constitutional and necessary. The fault lies in states that did not protect their election laws, and then sent Biden electors in spite of election problems. Mike Pence is 61 years old, has been the VP, the Indiana governor and a US House Representative for two different districts in Indiana for 16 years. He was a radio talk show host pre politics. He likely has no future ambitions to campaign and try to win another office. Posted by: Jen the original at January 07, 2021 01:39 PM (TtZXb) 458

I'm not sure if we need to re-learn how to use a mimeograph yet, but we should be trying to set up lines of communication. Encrypted email if nothing else. Just because we're going to be locked down by executive order under Biden so that we can't talk in person and every electronic communication method we do have is susceptible to monitoring is no reason to go off the deep end here. Oh, and do check out hrothgar's article on encrypted email from (I think) Dec 16th or 17th of last year. I don't think not-voting GOP ever again is the solution. If you do, so be it. But nor do I believe you must vote GOP all the time every election. Each election is different, each candidate is different. Just vote for the person you think best, if you think there is someone worth voting for. If you can vote in a primary and vote for someone good, you should do so. If they win, vote them in the general. Be a strategic voter.
-- That works...when we have a system of honesty. That system is deader than dead. I will not waste my time voting in any federal elections again until such time as we are no longer playing "beat the massive fraud." Because it is now completely honed and is nearly an unstoppable force. I won't take part in a system so full of dishonesty and cheating that I come away only hoping we tread water enough to beat it. Screw that perspective. Yesterday's actions by the protesters was absolutely not only acceptable but necessary.
Among the things that are not acceptable in a free republic: 1) stealing elections, 2) censoring citizens who disagree with the steal, 3) denying citizens access to the court to seek redress of grievances, 4) putting up barriers and locking doors to deny citizens access to petition their legislators for redress of grievances while those legislators are seeking to legitimize the electoral steal and 5) firing tear gas and flash bang grenades and then live ammunition at peaceful protesters to enforce your denial of access. 436 rick223b,
Yes I do, I look at voting unemotionally as a cost benefit analysis. As explained above, I live in a swing state and voting for local candidates at the county and city level saved me a bunch of bucks in potential tax increases and avoiding defunding the police and other such nonsense. It took me all of 15 minutes to vote on my way to and from shopping and saved me and my wife bucks and compromises to my personal safety. Thus, the per hour rate for that would be astronomical for that 15 minutes. Refusing to vote really does not do anything, not even excuse you from jury summons--as they are required to use drivers licenses and utility bills to make sure that the jury pool represents the community. The perfect is the enemy of the good and I cannot afford moral posturing given my situation. Posted by: whig at January 07, 2021 01:45 PM (pO7gM) 505

This is not freedom.
This is also not a human being. We aren't designed to be ordered around and told what to think, feel and act. We're supposed to live from the inside out with God as the foundation in Love. The problem with secession, a national divorce, whatever you want to call it:
They won't let it happen. They'll point to Lincoln and pretend that attempts to dissolve the union are treason. They'll threaten nukes. After decades of whining that blue states support red states (they don't, really) and pretending that they'd be better off without us they'll fight tooth and nail to keep red states subservient. Why? Well, Dems/lefties/commies are the way they are because they crave control. They're jealous, venal creatures. They know in their little black hearts that a Texas/Utah/Wyoming/Montana/SD/Idaho/whatever would thrive, would have more freedom, would be more joyous, would have better schools, lower taxes, more guns and less violence. They imagine an Americana with white picket fences and churchbells and happy families and bibles and people hitting the shooting range at school and it terrifies them that we would be allowed to enjoy a free and robust life without their say-so. And they can't let the world see the contrasts. No. Lefties do not create. They can destroy and pretend that destruction is a sort of primal precursor to creation. That includes destroying you. Forget the BOR. It's now null and void. No, the state cannot deny that right, because it's innate. However, the state will darn sure punish for exercising that right. The Capitol police took out Hodgkinson. Posted by: Mr. Meeseeks, Look at me at January 07, 2021 01:47 PM (khWYc) it is a very well respected police force. i am not going to deny that because it is the truth. There was an infamous incident in 1998 when some nutter came into the capitol building shooting to kill. Two officers died that day protecting members of Congress. I want to sleep on this. But from what I have seen, the shooting of that woman was unjustified. And I wan to know how three other people died from some reason or the other, that is strange no matter what. I am not defending any actions, but God almighty. Four people died because some people trespassed? The Left has occupied everything from Universities, Wall Street, government offices etc. How many of them died doing it? Posted by: Quint at January 07, 2021 01:55 PM (Ls0fP) 597

The time for introspection is over.
It's time to organize the new political force. It's time for vengeance. It's time to make a few lists of those that betrayed this nation over the last five years. That means Bill Barr, Pierre and every establishment fraud that decided political expediency trumped patriotism. Time to put together primary candidates. Time to dump social media that don't serve our purposes any longer. Time for us to start organizing around the leadership that will make payback possible. Distractions like Q and Lin Wood and every other silly piece of nonsense need to be called out. This needs to be a serious endeavor by serious people. No more playtime. No more illusions. Article V convention requires 38 states to ratify any changes to the Constitution suggested by the Convention. That is also why the last successful constitutional amendment (leaving aside the pay raise one which has an odd history) was extending the right to vote to 18 year olds in the 1970's.
There is simply no consensus anymore on what is good and right to get the necessary ratifications in 76 (or 75 if Nebraska does so) state legislative houses. The only way would be an enormous national crisis that occurs smashing the existing trench warfare system or we become Venezuela where all voting is pretty much fictional by now. If the shoe was on the other foot the disturbing video of this woman being murdered would be all over the news.
This was a black security guard, who wad hiding behind a wall, with a heavily barricaded set of doors between him and the protestors. One person was trying to get through a window, which left him vulnerable if police just wanted to run up and grab him since it wasn't, but this guard just sort at the group which literally posed no threat to him. More over behind the people protesting were about half a dozen SWAT officers, so this idiot shot indiscriminately in the direction of the police. I'm sure this guy will get thre chance to retire, full benefits and a plush job working for a Dem connected security company, when he was on video committing one of the worst acts of police excessive use of force, but if anyone protests that they'll be the ones seen as terrorist now. "Frankly I've been disappointed Levin hasn't been banging this harder since he wrote a book on it instead of fucking the "vote harder" chicken. Ol' Yeller sometimes goes oddly schizzy..." I think it's a combination of several things. Mark's dad dying, Rush's cancer, and the election. I think he probably felt that trying to get a legislature to call for an article V when the election was coming would simply drown the effort. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't pick up the mantle again. Posted by: Jen the original at January 07, 2021 02:05 PM (TtZXb) 670

Posted by: Rbastid at January 07, 2021 02:05 PM (t4/Ty) ESPN has an article online from yesterday in which the president of the NFLPA who is black, was shrieking yesterday that if anyone with his skin color was in the group yesterday pushing into the capitol, they would have been shot immediately by police. This statement must have been made prior to the police shooting Ashli. I'm still waiting for the apology. Apparently in his eyes, there were no black individuals in the Maga rally . 630 Harry,
People in power do not like to be reminded of their vulnerability-either personal or political, and this sets a precedent and warning about future betrayals already plotted such as open borders, giving the country away to China, pork to their buddies, etc. GOPe, if nothing else, knows their followers could have firearms the next time. Coupled with Mitt's public shaming the previous day, it is beginning to occur to them that their failure theatre standard act no longer fools the plebes and there may be downsides to being the Washington Generals. That is why they are so hysterical--they are caught between the Dems who find it funny and won't lift a finger to help them and their GOP 'constituents'. Gope Senators will have it the worst which is why I think the Dems will not immediately abolish the filibuster. No one expects anything from House GOP members anyway. Keeping the filibuster allows 'bipartisanship' as cover from cowed Republicans who will simply demand part of the grift proceeds. It is too good as a threat to keep GOP inc in line. Course, the Dems could simply move to immediately consolidate their power and that dooms the GOP's failure theater role. Posted by: whig at January 07, 2021 02:13 PM (pO7gM) 679

672 turnthepage,
No, you fail to show me how your way of ignoring the situation improves my life by simply refusing to vote at all. I will still be subject to jury duty, I may have to pay higher taxes and face degraded public services such as the police, etc. and all for a rather nebulous concept that refusing to vote delegitimizes the government. Here is the thing, no other country cares that the US has disenfranchised its citizens, no leftist cares that you did not vote--as I mentioned above, they will simply vote in your name and move on or ignore it. Noble gestures are pointless if they are ineffective and contrary to my own interests and my families. Your preferred alternative does nothing for me either in advancing my political or personal goals. It is simply your preference to do nothing which is fine. But not practical or conducive beyond yourself. Posted by: whig at January 07, 2021 02:23 PM (pO7gM) 689
Some more perspective: I've been reading right-wing blogs long enough to know that all the self-righteous anger directed at the GOP elites on display here is nothing but performance. In 4 years your hustle will be "I don't like [establishment GOP candidate X] either, but if you don't support him AOC will be president and America will be over!" And yes, I mean you, the Trump fans, not the National Review crowd or whoever you want to blame for not enthusiastically affirming your current temperament. You gripe about them roping you into supporting their wars, but the NR types weren't the ones peddling confrontational jingoistic t-shirts and bumper stickers at every gun show across the country during the 00s. I don't mean that as any sort of knock on gun show merch, it's a knock on this shameless attempt to rewrite reality by a segment of the right that is every bit as inclined to fits of bitchy, flamboyant, self-absorbed emotional exhibitionism as the most poly-gendered teenage SJW.

"Office building" hits the nail on the head because that's what the Capitol is not the sanctuary of Democracy or some other claptrap. It's an office building and the boss (the people) stopped by to make sure the employees were working and not wasting time. All the time we hear about "the people's house" and when the people show up ITS TIME TO CALL THE COPS!

You need a political party even if you plan to fight.
History! You need Talkers and Bomb-Throwers: The PTB will not talk to the Talkers until the Bomb-Throwers force them to negotiate through the ongoing loss of assets and disruption of services. Usually the Talkers stridently and honestly disagree with the tactics of the Bomb-Throwers and the Bomb-Throwers regard the Talkers with disdain (talking when you should be shooting), but both are needed in an insurgency.
