An ad supposedly about Tourism, and how "NICE" Canada is, by which they mean Canada is nothing but leftwing political agenda items and virtue-signalling.
NICE is for a moment, putting down your dystopian novel,The link at "dystopian novel" goes to a Wikipedia entry for Canadian sexual-dystopian writer Margaret Atwood, who wrote the Karen Science Fiction book The Handmaid's Tale. Which is really just 50 Shades of Gray for feminist Karens who want to get off on sexual domination but want to pretend they're Fighting the Patriarchy while flicking their beans. Do they really think that people make vacation plans based on visiting the place where The Handmaid's Tale was written? Who the FUCK would do that? How insane would such a hypothetical person have to be, and how insane are Canadian bureaucrats to think that this is a big draw?

I have a stepbrother who is, hopefully, spending his worthless life in prison for "accidentally" killing his 18 month old son because his baby mommy was in jail, his car, which his dad gave him, had been impounded, and he was jonesing (or whatever you call it) for a fix and the extended relative who was supposed to pick up the baby was late and he couldn't get out to get his drugs and the boy was acting like a toddler and my brother by marriage only hit him in the head with a coffee mug, effectively killing him. Then he burned his poor, little body outside in the fire pit to hide evidence of past abuse.
Anyway, you know what EVERYONE outside of the family said about above child murderer? That he was such a NICE guy.

LM Montgomery definitely deserves to be on any list of notable Canadian women. She wrote way more than just the Anne books (The Blue Castle is one of my most deeply loved books. I only wish I had discovered it decades earlier than I did), and her books resonate with a deep love of Canada and especially Nova Scotia.
But she also wrote about faith and family, and we can't have that.

there is nothing new about it really. Canadians and Euros always hate Republican presidents. Even on the occasions they themselves have "conservative" leaders, the population always hates Republicans.
It makes sense when you think about it. No one wants a strong, independent leader in the super power. Americans are the opposite, we love a conservative abroad. We like to see people who stand up for their countries. But it doesn't work the other way. Sure, Eastern Europe maybe, but not Old Europe or Canada, aka, pretend Old Europe.

McLean Gang
McLean Gang, BC outlaws (fl 1879). Consisting of Allan, Charlie and Archie McLean and Alex Hare (all 4 of mixed blood), the gang lived by banditry and violence. On 8 December 1879 they killed John Tannatt Ussher, a Kamloops policeman who was arresting them for horse theft, and James Kelly, a shepherd. A posse trapped them in a cabin near Douglas Lake and after a short siege the gang surrendered. At the time Allan was 24, Charlie and Alex 17, and Archie 15. Tried in New Westminster, they were executed in a group hanging on 31 January 1881.

I really like Quebec. The people were really nice. They didn't laugh or sneer when you try and speak French. The food was amazing. Really like being in a European city. It is cheap. At least it was the couple of times I've been there. The Canadians we met were complaining that they couldn't afford to vacation in the States. The river is beautiful and there are quaint shops and music on the boardwalk.
I don't know what you all are complaining about. You just visit, enjoy, and leave.

Bottom line up front: Canadians today are vastly more tolerant of government-by-mandarin than nearly everybody in the U.S. This is just one reflection of the different Founding Facts and the years that have passed.
We were founded by armed revolt against what was then a legitimate goverment; the country of Canada was born by an act of the same Crown and Parliament that we rebelled against.
Basically, Canada exists because Great Britain wanted to keep a hand in North America after the American Revolution.
I'm not complaining, believe me. After countless political discussions with inlaws and friends north of the border over many cases of 2-4, I'm perfectly happy to let them live up there while we live down here. (We outnumber them 10:1 anyway.)
However, I really think they could dump the national anthem ("Oh, Canada") and go back to the "The Maple Leaf Forever".

I believe Canada's elections - while they generally produce idiotic,
disastrous results for that country and the world - have very high
integrity in terms of process.
It's not hard.
While the US now has a farcical, clumsily corrupt election process,
the kind the neither the US itself nor the UN or OECD or EU would ever
recognize as legitimate, were it held in a Third World or former Second
World country.
Lots of huge stones being hurled here by people living in a
collapsed glass house, which is also piled high with feces and disgrace.

It's much easier to do in Canada because Federal elections are held on their own and every Canadian has 1 vote for a single Member of Parliament. So we put one X among a choice of 2-5 candidates. Much easier to count. The leader of the party with the most MPs is the Prime Minister. If you have no ID or voting card, even your grandmother or next door neighbour will not let you vote. You are SOL. Early voting if you can't be around for election day but the only no mail in as far as I know is special ballots for military and incarcerated people. Apparently, the incarcerated may be murderers but are still 'nice' enough to let vote. We still had thousands of illegal ballots in 2019.
Senators are appointed by the Prime Minister. Provincial and Municipal Municipal elections are held together are staggared and (almost) never one Province on the same day as another.
Voting for everyone from President to dogcatcher makes it tough in the US to count so many races, and to me its a miracle that they could get it all counted election night, and now we find it's because they just make it up.
The best part of elections in Canada is that they last five or six weeks. fukouttahere.

the Somme and nearly were wiped out. Out of 780 men, only 68 answered
the roll call the next day. The divisional commander said, "It was a

Beaumont Hamel (Somme July 1 2016) happened six months after they withdrew from trench warfare at Gallipoli/Suvla Bay.
There's an amazing documentary by Peter Jackson called 'They shall not grow old' about the British in WW1. Amazing restoration, adding color, sound, correcting lighting and film speed. I saw it in 3D at a theatre a couple of years ago. It was followed by a making of documentary which was also amazing. See them both if you can. It was very moving.

We never set foot in Canada again. My wife retired as a senior executive for an international travel company and was responsible for redirecting more than $750M of travel, airfare and rental cars out of Canada in her career. Special attention paid to particular hotels in Montreal and Quebec.
They are still smug degens from the north, as Letterkenny has proven.
