On Friday, Pfizer's First (of Many) Mass Shipment of the Covid Vaccine Began

The Trump Cure is on the way.

United Airlines on Friday commenced charter flights to send doses of Pfizer and BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine candidate to prepare for distribution, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal that cited people familiar with the matter.

In a statement to The Hill, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was "supporting the first mass air shipment of a vaccine" on Friday.

"As a result of the historic pace of vaccine development through Operation Warp Speed and careful logistics planning, the FAA today is supporting the first mass air shipment of a vaccine," the FAA statement read.

...

Part of the company's distribution plan will include existing and additional refrigerated storage sites across the U.S. and Europe. The Journal also reported the plan includes using "dozens of cargo flights and hundreds of truck trips each day."

Pfizer did in fact conceal the fact, which it knew to be a fact, that its vaccine was ready for deployment before the election.

And the GOP will continue bending over backwards forwards to let these megacorporations sodomize them.

Pfizer's vaccine is said to be 90% effective: only 10% of those receiving the vaccine contracted covid.

Moderna's vaccine is even more effective: 94.1% of those innoculated with it stayed covid free, and 100% of those innoculated avoided severe covid symptoms.

That is, the only symptoms we care about. Moderate covid symptoms are just a chest cold.

Continuing the spate of stunning news about COVID-19 vaccines, the biotech company Moderna announced the final results of the 30,000-person efficacy trial for its candidate in a press release today: Only 11 people who received two doses of the vaccine developed COVID-19 symptoms after being infected with the pandemic coronavirus, versus 185 symptomatic cases in a placebo group. That is an efficacy of 94.1%, the company says, far above what many vaccine scientists were expecting just a few weeks ago.

More impressive still, Moderna's candidate had 100% efficacy against severe disease. There were zero such COVID-19 cases among those vaccinated, but 30 in the placebo group. The company today plans to file a request for emergency use authorization (EUA) for its vaccine with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and is also seeking a similar green light from the European Medicines Agency.

This is exactly what Trump said would happen.

And the media, and the liberal ex-Republicans who are now in fact Democrats but continue to sabotage the conservative movement from the inside, jeered him for saying so.

I can't figure out why, but Professor AllahPundit has failed to note a study that says that use of hydroxychloroquine -- which Professor Allahpundit continually claimed would kill people, because The Science (TM) says that we must form a #Resistance against the Bad Orange Man -- results in 84% fewer hospitalizations than covid patients not treated with it.

A peer-reviewed study measuring the effectiveness of a controversial drug cocktail that includes hydroxychloroquine concluded that the treatment lowered hospitalizations and mortality rates of coronavirus patients.

The study, set to be published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents in December, determined that "Low-dose hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc and azithromycin was an effective therapeutic approach against COVID-19."

A total of 141 patients diagnosed with the coronavirus were treated with the three-drug cocktail over a period of five days and compared to a control group of 377 people who tested positive for the virus but were not given the treatment.

The study found that "the odds of hospitalisation of treated patients was 84% less than in the untreated patients," and only one patient died from the group being treated with the drugs compared to 13 deaths in the untreated group.

I think all the liberals who railed against this life-saving, hospital-sparing drug should promise to refuse to be treated by it, even when infected by covid.

To prove that their constant shrieking about the drug wasn't just a very cynical and nonscientific jihad against Trump.

Larry O'Connor points out that the whole media " " " " fact- " " " " checked Trump -- by which they mean "compared Trump's claims to the Democrat-Media Complex's propaganda points -- when he claimed that a covid vaccine would be on the way to citizens "within weeks."

Well, Trump was right. The " " " " fact- " " " " checkers were wrong.

Will they be correcting their claims now? Will Twitter, FaceBook, and Google be censoring and slapping warning labels on this misinformation?

Janice Dean notes that Andrew Cuomo continues lying about how many grandparents he murdered by forcing sick people into their nursing homes:

The Tyranny Monopolies are going to have to censor this article -- suicide (fed by loneliness and depression) killed more Japanese in October than covid took in ten full months.

But lockdowns forever!

There is literally no other malady we should be concerned with, apart from covid!

23 Fucked-up as it is, we've almost gotten used to the Permanent Coup Attempt against Donald J. Trump for the last five years--that's right--five years. But this has now gone far beyond the President himself.

They are now trying to overthrow us, the American People, directly. I take that personally, as personally as it gets.

If China invaded the United States with troops and managed to install Joe Biden as a puppet president, the only essential difference with what is going on would be that Americans would have even more clarity.

President Trump won in a true landslide, receiving from the People 80 million votes, around 400 Electoral Votes, carrying the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia, almost certainly New Mexico and in all likelihood, Colorado and, yes, California. You heard me.

I was born a free citizen of a Constitutional Republic and I will remain one. I will not be ruled by leave of Globalist Gangsters, Pervert Criminals and their whore Chinese Poodle, not now and not ever. I do believe there are enough people of integrity here to stand for truth and thwart this unprecedented Constitutional Crime Spree. And even the dullest among us can see that the Hand of God is upon our president.

But all should know and understand this clearly: speaking just for me, and some folks from Tennessee, I'm Your Huckleberry.

And just one of millions.

Sincerely,

Huck

24 Vaccine? Nein, danke.

Of course, I've already heard the excuse for making such a big deal out of a "vaccine" for a disease with such limited impact - "this will help everyone stop freaking out".

Translated: an illiterate, submissive populace abused by incompetent and/or unethical dishonest "public health" officials, abetted by collapsed lysenkoized "science", which empowered authoritarian freaks to turn the US into the Central African Empire under Bokasa I, will be calmed by a "vaccine".

Which many won't.

And which will not be allowed to change one bit of the near-totalitarian society that instantly sprang into being in a few months earlier this year.

Oh - and side-effects. Given the IFR and CFR of the disease, any side-effects at all would make a "vaccine" a non-starter for 80% of the population, probably more (risk outweighs benefit).

It's a pathetic, unrecognizable shell of the society we had just a few years ago.

26 by the end of this year, I saw on CNBC, health authorities expect about a third of Americans to have been exposed to the Chinese Attack Virus. From that number to herd immunity, from vaccinations, is not that large a leap.

By this time next year, no one will be talking about WuFlu

65 Peebles, you have a false assumption in your comment - that in fact the spread/exposure of C19 was actually affected by the disastrous, ruinous "policies" of the last 8 months.

Common sense and actual epidemiological doctrine and history suggested from the start that such measures were pointless (the "policies" have been the radical experiment, Sweden is not the experiment).

And of course so far no evidence to change the original wisdom (ace noted yet another study showing no strong effect from "policies" on spread earlier today - there have been many).

But this is kind of instructive and near-universal. 98% of suggestions or arguments with a correct central point or conclusion these days nonetheless incorporate incorrect premises, usually from among the key premises of the lysenkoists and totalitarians.

In 2020, there were 3.2 million voters.

___

No there is nothing off about it. And it's not 40% it's over 50%.

AZ:
2000: 1.5M votes, population 4.8M
2020: 3.2M votes, population 7.3M

Utah (next door to AZ)
2000: 725K votes 2.2M population
2020: 1.4M votes 3.2M population

In both states, the number of voters increased by about 100% between 2000 and 2020 while the state population grew by about 50%.

So unless you think Utah is in on AZ's scam, there is nothing off or nefarious about these numbers. And the fact that Rudy and Co didn't take 5 minutes to do what I did shows up all you need to know about their competency.

90 ace there are calculators online to estimate what kind of D3 supplementation you might want to have, taking into account personal data as well as latitude and sun exposure time/week.

In NYC I'd guess you'll find 5K IUs in a daily supplement would be warranted. And completely safe. D is fat-soluble and therefore it's possible to over-dose, but for most people that requires a rather outlandish intake.

I'm on the Non-Border Border with Mexico, and I've added 5K every 3 days to my routine. First supplement of any kind I've ever taken, so a radical step. But D has other benefits besides immune system strength (which may not be fully demonstrated, actually).

In both states, the number of voters increased by about 100% between 2000 and 2020 while the state population grew by about 50%.

The only particularly interesting high level aggregate numbers are total votes vs 2018 registered eligible voters, where the former exceeds the latter(implying that the 2020 vote was close to 100% of eligible registered voters, which when we dig in we can see is made from a combination of more normal results and fraudulent results). Most of the other stuff of real interest is in more local data, as for the ones mentioned above you'd need to analyze the demographics. and voter registration to see if there was anything fishy at that level, and any analysis would tend to have wider predicted results.

make it a true free market, no insurance, no bs. They sell it for what they can get. Let's see if they won't sell it to people who need it that are willing to pay them. Maybe they can do that like hotels that wont rent rooms for too low a price even if the room goes vacant. But the pressure would be immense and really, at a point they are producing the pills for little or nothing. Do they want to get paid or not?

108 The Republican leaders of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives announced late Saturday that they will not be returning to session this year, a move that would appear to preclude any possibility of lawmakers interceding in the 2020 election.

House Speaker Bryan Cutler, R-Quarryville, and Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, R-Bellefonte, released a joint statement saying that they would not be calling their chamber to Harrisburg on Monday, the final possible day for the 2019-20 session of the Legislature to meet.

"We are physically unable to consider any new legislation before the end of session," they wrote in the statement. "A simple resolution takes three legislative days for consideration and a concurrent resolution takes five legislative days to move through both chambers, which means we do not have the time needed to address any new resolutions in our current session."

145 Ok 100 comments.

So I saw a some talk in the past thread about how a solution to actual door to door confiscation is to hide the guns.

I'm not thinking that's a working solution.

The state can probably ascertain gun owners with a high degree of confidence. They don't need to go door to door but just to put them on a domestic terrorist list and let the financial system do its work.

So if a door to door confiscation doesn't trigger a shooting war then nothing will and guns are as a good a gone in a matter of time the way things are shaking up.

I understand the challenge here. The boiling frog is a world famous parable for a reason. Exactly. Liberals love to quote statistics without any other statistics for comparison.

"There are 1000 PEOPLE A DAY DYING FROM COVID!!!"

How many people - out of 330 million - die per day normally? Answer: 7000-8000, depending on time of year.

How many people die per day from influenza, when it descends on the land? Probably around 1000.

The numbers in the abstract are meaningless. We need to know related numbers to judge how big a deal this is.

170 ace there are calculators online to estimate what kind of D3 supplementation you might want to have, taking into account personal data as well as latitude and sun exposure time/week.

I think that we need to get a Scotus win in PA. These legislators aren't heros. They have families and don't want to get dead or at the very least harassed and canceled for the rest of their lives by every institution they've come to depend on.

They certainly aren't going to create their own momentum.

It's orders of magnitude easier for the PA legislature to hand out electors while to pointing to the SCOTUS decision declaring the mail in bailouts illegal.

And once PA falls then it's a bit easier for the other state legislatures to ride the momentum wave.

But for these legislatures to start the ball rolling themselves in inconceivable to me.

We need a miracle, but G-d is big.

183 And as idiotic and orwellian as mandated vaccines for a disease with this profile is - it's merely the appetizer, in terms of pseudo-science-powered totalitarian social engineering.

The "elites" have shown their ignorance, malevolence, and totalitarian impulse.

The populace has shown its ignorance, submissiveness, and lack of character.

And we may soon have a regime that will not hesitate to push this toxic idiocy 10,000 times harder than ever. The mere removal of Trump would mean no "threat" to the "climate" nonsense, and likely its permanence, at a minimum as a fake tenet of conventional wisdom (inculcated at every turn, such as the current social poison of "diversity" and similar toxins).

The very first baby steps were being taken to combat this disastrous idiocy (CA standards being challenged, etc). Now?

The only limit on this evil, stupid, ruinous excuse to control all human behavior will be cost - but that will force only a slower boiling of the frog ... the frog's not getting out of the pot.

A crazier notion, that they would like to implant a tracer chip in with your required inoculation ... as an option (only required if you want access to your investment or savings accounts). Oh and btw, the inoculation may also make you sterile, but that is a bonus, no extra cost. And for the greater good, it will also effectively limit your life to 75 years ... life sucks after that anyway ... so you will thank us later.

Since most gun owners are still reliant on the broader economy for ammo, that would be the obvious point to clamp down. Even if they have guns, if they can't get ammo, the guns are useless, and they will be less inclined to train if it uses such a valuable commodity. Plus, much less direct confrontation -- they don't have to both gun owners, just ammo sellers.

To make money and keep going, I believe hospitals are supposed to operate close to maximum capacity- around 85-90%. Empty beds = $0.00
Posted by: Pres. Elect LASue at November 30, 2020 06:12 PM (Ed8Zd)

Way back when, the system in which I work had decided to open a floor that had been closed (due to lack of patients) for Covid. That was during the anticipated surge in the Spring.

Nobody got parked in one of those beds. Not once. So they closed it down again.

Reopened a couple weeks ago, and now has less than 50% of the beds filled. If it stays that way, the administration is going to close down at least SOME of those beds, if not the whole floor. Provided they can isolate Covid cases that DO come in.

So yeah, capacity is bullshit. Always is.

231 My dad - whom I've given up on as anyone remotely attached to reality - is walking around almost giddy with relief, because the vaccine is coming. He's 66, and up until the 'Rona I considered quite sane - just bit with the typical Boomer Leftist reality force field. He's so glad that the vaccine will get everything back to normal.

It does not occur to him - and I've long since quit trying to show him - that nothing is ever going back to normal. Governors will not end these soft martial laws. Corporate vendors like Kroger, Home Depot, and so on and so forth will not stop these face diaper mandates. Airlines are falling over themselves to announce they're self-declared vaccine requirements to use air travel ever again.

First - the excuse will be because the vaccine hasn't been distributed enough. Then, the excuse will be just a few more weeks out of an abundance of caution. Then, they'll explain that this vaccine - which by their numbers killed less than one percent of those who caught it - will still allow ten percent of those that encounter the vaccine to catch it - and their death watch will then begin. Until that number is zero, it simply won't be good enough.

This genie is not going back in the bottle. I've grown sick of trying to warn people, and pointing out every time the goalposts are moved. I'll settle for mocking - when this vaccine is deemed mandatory by the powers that be - and movie theaters and bars are STILL empty while everyone still walks around with that stupid face diaper. I'll be happy, if nothing else, laughing at the misery of others.

234 It varies by facility, but yeah ICUs need to have 90%+, typically, to not lose money, and overall hospital usually needs to be close to 80% full for the same reason.

I've given up even trying to follow the idiocy of such a cretinized, ignorant country society on all this, but for months now, state officials and sometimes municipal, or hospital people, have stoked panic and tried to justify their ridiculous ineffective "mitigation" nonsense by citing numbers just like this.

Confirming the lack of ethics of the "elites", and their well-founded contempt for the ignorance and passivity of most of the populace.

In San Diego, a major hospital chain CEO sent out a panic signal, only to be busted by a leak from inside his own organization to a local independent watchdog twatter personality. It was head-shakingly pathetic, and revealing.

In AZ, an independent observer busted the entire state health dept. for their distorted hospitalization numbers. And so on, and on, across the country.

248 108 The Republican leaders of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives announced late Saturday that they will not be returning to session this year, a move that would appear to preclude any possibility of lawmakers interceding in the 2020 election.

It was also nauseating when the Fox halftime show brought up how wonderful the Sarah Fuller stunt was. Nobody had the balls to disagree.

June 26, 2020: Pac-12 Football: Oregon-Oregon State Drop 'Civil War' Name to Rivalry

The annual football game between the Ducks and Beavers has been called the Civil War for nearly 90 years. Games in other sports involving the two schools had begun using that monicker as well.

Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said former Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon was among the leaders in calling for a change in the Civil War name...
...Former Beavers stars Steven Jackson and Ken Simonton were among the Oregon State leaders in the move to drop the reference that is offensive to African Americans and many Americans...

...This announcement is another example of people and organizations responding to the need for greater awareness and sensitivity regarding issues of racial injustice...

..."Changing this name is overdue as it represents a connection to a war fought to perpetuate slavery," said OSU President Ed Ray. "While not intended as reference to the actual Civil War, OSU sports competition should not provide any misconstrued reference to this divisive episode in American history. That we did not act before to change the name was a mistake. We do so now, along with other important actions to advance equal opportunity and justice for all and in recognition that Black Lives Matter."...

.
Trump supporters are for electronic voting, mail in voting, paper ballots or any other voting method that is honest and reports results properly.

They are against, electronic voting, mail in voting, paper ballots or any other voting method that is dishonest and reports results improperly.

The alleged fraud hindering electronic voting system is at the center of the most blatantly and openly fraudulent election in American history

It's not exactly covering itself in fraud-limiting glory.

Yep. I make a point of correcting any liberals who refer to "climate change," informing them that the correct term is "global warming."

I love to watch liberals cringe when I say that.
Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara

I've really come to hate the whole "Global Warming" scam that has been perpetrated on us for years.
CO2 changes by a hundred ppm in the atmosphere, and the climate is wrecked. Even though CO2 only adsorbs at certain narrow wavelengths of Infra-red.

And water vapor, which is orders of magnitude more abundant in the atmosphere, accounts for the vast majority of the actual "greenhouse" atmospheric effect that makes the Earth warm enough to be habitable.

Many may recall that we have had "ice ages" in the past, where most of the water in the world is either tied up in vast glacier sheets or in the ocean, and the world became MUCH COLDER. Why, I wonder?
Freeze out most of the water vapor, and suddenly the atmosphere does not hold in heat to make the world habitable.

CO2 is a minor player in the actual atmosphere effects the make this planet livable.

We don't know why ice ages started or ended, but I would speculate that our Sun is actually more variable in output over several million years time span than we know.

Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be safe and healthy. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not implement a lockdown in order to protect society from a disease; one creates the disease in order to justify the lockdown. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.

Posted by: Sponge - Office of the President Elect at November 30, 2020 06:21 PM (Zz0t1)

You are 95% correct, but Boeing did completely fuck up the MAX in two significant ways:

1. The base-level MAX avionics featured a one-channel MCAS system, which proved wholly inadequate, as it could not "cross-check" itself as the four-channel system can, and does. The four channel system WAS an extra-cost option, but is now standard, and factory-retrofitted to the entire fleet.

2. Boeing failed utterly in NOT mandating two hours of Simulator time to completely train the MCAS envelope, even in the previous one-channel world. ESPECIALLY in the previous one-channel world. Had the turd world pilots have received this training, things might not have augured in quite so predictably.

Concurrent with 2. The MAX does present a very different Center of Gravity and various aerodynamic pressures, as a result of it's higher-and farther forward engine positioning. That should've been in the Mandated Simulator Time, as well. Just because. It wasn't as deadly an oversight as the lack of MCAS training, but it WAS an oversight, and is corrected in the new re-cert.

323 A lot of their BS estimate is based on a feedback loop that definitely hasn't manifested and erroneous correlations from using C02 in glaciers to estimate C02 in the atmosphere in past eras. Turns out that those things aren't exactly vacuum sealed, but no one is going to revise their estimates because of it.
Posted by: Warlord Someguy - General Who Pacifies The East and West

They use iterative differential equations on super computers to solve fluid dynamics problems for thousands of "partitioned" segments of the atmosphere, to demonstrate a dynamic model for heat and gas flow.

I would bet that a cursory examination by real mathematicians and software writers would show that their solution method (numerical method) for solving the differential equation is that their solution is "unbounded", and by design, the results will "run away" with the expected result.

Which is why they can't recapitulate past temperature /climate measurements by running the program backwards. It ALWAYS runs away.

331 315 Eh, if you read the individual states' Ordinance of Secession, slavery is front and center. I know there is a lot of nuance to this topic, and there were a lot of arguments about individual states that chose to join the Union should be free to exit the Union. There were many other arguments as well, but again, read the declarations. Slavery is issue numero uno.
Posted by: bonhomme at November 30, 2020 06:33 PM (UW2ZS)

It was more the whole government overreach thing, slavery being the final straw. Thus it being front and center, but no, it's not WHY they fought.
Posted by: Sponge - Office of the President Elect at November 30, 2020 06:37 PM (Zz0t1)

It's in their declaration of causes. The arguments about government overreach ring hollow, it's not like the Fugitive slave law involved ransacking the homes of Southerners. Furthermore, in the period prior to the Civil War the South held control of the federal government as the opposing political party had dissolved.

The only potentially credible harm would be in relation to tariffs, and allocation of subsidies and government graft. But in both cases, the Southern aristocracy, which was also in effect their political class, was fully on board, doing nothing to change the state of affairs while in power.

The entire enviro-weenie movement is driven by the above impulses, plus arrogance, ego, and delusions of God-hood.

They seem to believe the Earth has always been like it is today. That no plants or animals became extinct until we evil homo sapiens came on the scene. That the Earth's climate was unchanged for billions of years, until we evil homo sapiens began burning fossil fuels a hundred years ago.

Therefore, to return Earth to the paradise it was for billions of years (in their minds), evil homo sapiens must take immediate and drastic corrective actions. And guess what? Only they - the pure of heart and protectors of Mother Gaia - know what those actions must be.

What a bunch of waterheads. They are so ignorant they probably believe humans caused dinosaur extinction. They have no idea about plate tectonics and the incalculable forces involved; to them climate change causes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

But their ignorance doesn't end there. They are equally ignorant of being used by the people and organizations who plan to make trillions of dollars from the green energy scam.

If they want to follow the science, they should learn some science and learn to think for themselves.

I know you're a medical guy, you're completely on the ball about what you want to see in the control though. Common issue in studies is not recognizing that you want the two samples to be as similar as possible to isolate the cause of differences, the null hypothesis of no difference is inherently silly if samples aren't identical. Using two random samples of sufficient size it's possible to "prove" that a placebo has positive effects when compared to the same placebo.

Having a serious (completely predicted) erosion across WI vs. 2016, and yet more than making up for it in 3 counties, with increases never ever before seen in such a race, also helped.

It is a never ending argument as there were many causes and many more reasons individuals on both sides chose to fight. I have been called a dummy here for stating slavery was the main cause of the war. It was the essential factor that if it did not exist, there would have never been a war. I came to that pretty clear conclusion after a crap load of study to be honest. Without slavery, no war, it is that simple.

Now that does not mean most Confederates joined to preserve slavery and even more so, most Yankees did not join to end slavery. The war did end it, but that became an official war aim long after the war started. And even when the war was being raged, you had Union soldiers from slave states such as MD, Delaware, West Virginia, Missouri, and Kentucky fighting the Confederates. Lincoln could not free any slaves in those states, that had to be done by Congress and it happened later.

This is a heated and complicated argument. I know people grew up with this stuff and it has been passed down for generations. But yeah, I admit it, no slavery, no Civil War. OF course this deserves a longer discussion, but it is not like it has not come up here before.

Rudy's
problem is that he's a lawyer. A lawyer will always assure you that any
problem can be rectified by the proper administration of the law. But
no coup or putsch in history has ever been rebuffed or turned back in a
courtroom. The losers are often paraded around in a courtroom - but only
because the matter had already been decidedly settled one way or the
other.

Poll observers exist for a reason. If they aren't convinced the election process was on the up and up, there's no reason to accept the results. While courts and then legislatures are the next step in this process, we shouldn't assume they're the last if they fail.

The poll watchers experiences speak to the disenfranchisement of the voters. Anytime poll watchers are not allowed to properly complete their work fraud is suspected, and fraud disenfranchises legal voters. I cant think of a more compelling argument for the SCOTUS to pick up these lawsuits.

These witnesses btw are very brave people.

1) It's pretty much idiot-proof. Stupidly easy to set up or join a meeting. It handles lots of people with ease.
It looks the best.

2) Everyone else's version sucks or is hard to use, and-
Do you really think Apple's or Cisco's or Google's or Facebook's or Microsoft's or whoever's version is going to respect your privacy any better than ZOOM?

The people I talk to say 'No'. And they need an online meeting platform for work, so ZOOM it is.

he was a talented novelist. Not saying he didn't write a really good series on the war. But there are some historians that can shed more light on the reasons and even on the battles themselves. I am more a battle and strategy guy, not so big on reasons, I am certainly no expert on the subject. Gary Galllager wrote a good book called The Union War. It is a a bit dry and repetitive, but it shows why most Union soldiers took up arms. That is a big story when you think about it, I doubt the average American could write a few paragraphs as to why they chose to risk their lives.

465 I think the reason ZOOM is so popular is twofold:

1) It's pretty much idiot-proof. Stupidly easy to set up or join a meeting. It handles lots of people with ease.
It looks the best.

2) Everyone else's version sucks or is hard to use, and-
Do you really think Apple's or Cisco's or Google's or Facebook's or Microsoft's or whoever's version is going to respect your privacy any better than ZOOM?

Yep. I prefer Skype, but it's a pain the in the ass to set up. Anytime I want to Skype my brother, he has to remember his hotmail account creds that he hasn't used since the last time we Skyped. And that's for someone who has used it before. If not, you have to get the app and create a login. Zoom is just easier for someone who hasn't used it before.

All terms I never used. The truth is slavery was perfectly legal when the Southern states left the union, there is no arguing that. And there was no legal decision on secession until after the war. It might sound crass, but the issue was decided on the battlefield. It is what happened, and not opinion.

I defamed no one from either side. And not here, but in most of America, what has really been lost to history is the reconciliation. Not that all went well afterwords, but denying reconciliation is to ignore the nation's history.

If you really think about it, secession is what lead to the end of slavery. Speeches aside, Lincoln said he would not try to free the slaves. Yes he said other things before, but he did not run on ending slavery where it existed. Union was the real mater, just like your first quote makes abundantly clear.

but comparing then to now is really a stretch imo. For one the country was nothing like the nation today. The funny thing is they were way more unified but didn't know it. It became a hate but among people with the same values on most everything but a big one. Today we are more divided and have way, way less in common. Not sure where this leads but the history shows this to be true. And union does not mean what it once did to many. It was a very different time and place.

470 Here is the most important info you can be armed with if a loved one goes into the icu or critical care because of covid. Request aviptadil. It might save a terminal patient.

NeuroRx and Relief Announce Initial Successful Results from Expanded Access Use of RLF-100(TM) (aviptadil) in Patients with Critical COVID-19 and Severe Comorbidity: 72% Survival Seen in ICU Patients
Wed, November 25, 2020, 11:45 AM CSTˇ9 min read
Correction of the press release published November 24, 2020: It has come to our attention that a mistake was printed in the percentage of control patients in the EAP who survived to day 28. The correct percentage is 27%, not 17% of the control patients, all treated with best available intensive care unit (ICU) Standard of Care, survived to day 28. This has been corrected in the text below.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND and RADNOR, PA / ACCESSWIRE / November 25, 2020 / RELIEF THERAPEUTICS Holding AG (SIX:RLF)(OTCQB:RLFTF) ("Relief" or the "Company") and NeuroRx, Inc., announced that more than 175 patients with Critical COVID-19 and Respiratory Failure who also have a severe comorbidity have now been entered into an Expanded Access Protocol (EAP) with RLF-100(TM) in the United States.

All patients had severe comorbidities (such as organ transplant, recent heart attack, and cancer) that rendered them ineligible for the ongoing randomized, controlled phase 2b/3 trial being conducted to ascertain safety and efficacy of RLF-100(TM), and all patients were deteriorating despite treatment with approved therapies for COVID-19 (see www.clinicaltrials.gov NCT 04311697). Of the 90 patients who have so far reached 28 days of follow-up, 72% survived to day 28.

As previously reported by Youssef and coworkers (http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.366522, at Houston Methodist Hospital, 21 patients treated with RLF-100(TM) under the EAP were compared to 24 control patients treated in the same setting. Only 27% of the control patients, all treated with best available intensive care unit (ICU) Standard of Care, survived to day 28. The survival rate with RLF-100(TM) reported today is comparable to that seen among the open-label patients treated with RLF-100(TM) by Youssef et al. Despite advancements in treating COVID-19, survival for the patients at highest risk due to severe comorbidities has remained dismal in the absence of an effective therapy.

Notably, in the EAP, no drug-related Serious Adverse Events have been reported to date among these patients nor the 160 patients randomized to RLF-100(TM) vs. placebo in the U.S. phase 2b/3 clinical trial currently underway. Thus, from a risk/benefit perspective, while the benefit of RLF-100(TM) has not yet been proven in a randomized prospective trial, no serious risk has been identified so far.

Currently, 25 U.S. hospitals have enrolled patients in the EAP, nearly all of which are community hospitals, suggesting that RLF-100(TM) can demonstrate effectiveness in the hands of front-line physicians who deliver the majority of care to patients with Critical COVID-19. Physicians enrolling patients in the EAP have routinely reported that initial patients at their sites have frequently been in the ICU for several weeks without recovery prior to treatment with RLF-100(TM). As patients are treated earlier in the course of their ICU stay, there is an emerging clinical impression that RLF-100(TM) has an even greater impact on recovery.

"We are reassured that emerging real-world data on the use of RLF-100(TM) in improving survival in patients with Critical COVID-19 are comparable to results seen in the hands of major academic teaching centers. We hope that these findings are viewed as encouraging at a time when many Americans, including the doctors, nurses, and other front-line caregivers who are the heart of our initiative, are celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday at a distance from their loved ones. We look forward to completing enrollment and reporting the results of our pivotal U.S. clinical trial," said Prof. Jonathan C. Javitt, MD, MPH, CEO and founder of NeuroRx, Inc.

ABOUT VIP IN LUNG INJURY
Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide (VIP) was first discovered by the late Dr. Sami Said in 1970. Although first identified in the intestinal tract, VIP is now known to be produced throughout the body and to be primarily concentrated in the lungs. VIP has been shown in more than 100 peer-reviewed studies to have potent anti-inflammatory/anti-cytokine activity in animal models of respiratory distress, acute lung injury, and inflammation. Most importantly, 70% of the VIP in the body is bound to a rare cell in the lung, the alveolar type 2 cell, that is critical to transmission of oxygen to the body. VIP has a 20-year history of safe use in humans in multiple human trials for sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma/allergy, and pulmonary hypertension.

COVID-19-related death is primarily caused by respiratory failure. Before this acute phase, however, there is evidence of early viral infection of the alveolar type 2 cells. These cells are known to have angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors at high levels, which serve as the route of entry for the SARS-CoV-2 into the cells. Coronaviruses are shown to replicate in alveolar type 2 cells but not in the more numerous type 1 cells. These same type 2 alveolar cells have high concentrations of VIP receptors on their cell surfaces giving rise to the hypothesis that VIP could specifically protect these cells from injury.

Injury to the type 2 alveolar cells is an increasingly plausible mechanism of COVID-19 disease progression (Mason 2020). These specialized cells replenish the more common type 1 cells that line the lungs. More importantly, type 2 cells manufacture surfactant that coats the lung and are essential for oxygen exchange. Other than RLF-100(TM), no currently proposed treatments for COVID-19 specifically target these vulnerable type 2 cells.

ABOUT RLF-100(TM)
RLF-100(TM) (Aviptadil) is a formulation of Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide (VIP) that was developed based on Dr. Sami Said's original work at Stony Brook University, for which Stony Brook was awarded an FDA Orphan Drug Designation in 2001. VIP is known to be highly concentrated in the lungs, where it inhibits coronavirus replication, blocks the formation of inflammatory cytokines, prevents cell death, and upregulates the production of surfactant. FDA has now granted IND authorization for intravenous and inhaled delivery of RLF-100(TM) for the treatment of COVID-19 and awarded Fast Track designation. RLF-100(TM) is being investigated in two placebo-controlled US Phase 2b/3 clinical trials in respiratory deficiency due to COVID-19. Since July 2020, more than 150 patients with Critical COVID-19 and Respiratory Failure have been treated with RLF-100(TM) under FDA-approved protocols. Information on the RLF-100(TM) Expanded Access program is at https://www.neurorxpharma.com/our-services/rlf-100.

my problem with that is it was the Southern States that seceded. No way Lincoln wanted that. His entire tenure was dominated by a bloody Civil War.

I understand there is a states rights argument. There is a reason the CSA put George Washington on The Seal of the Confederacy. It was not some type of conspiracy, they believed they were the natural heirs to Washington and the ones most in line with the Constitution. The other side thought differently.
