Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | CNN: "Fox News Staffers Thought Newsmax Was a Joke. They're Not Laughing Anymore."I know it's Thanksgiving, and maybe it's not the time for vituperation and vengeance, but... Well, just a little, right? Fox News is now threatening guests who appear on Newsmax, telling them they won't be invited on Fox.CNN link. I wouldn't click. This article is by CNN's Chief Deplatforming Officer Tater, with additional reporting by their Senior Deplatforming Associate Oliver Darcy. It claims that all of Newsmax's gains are due to "conspiracy theories," because, of course. Anything Tater doesn't like is a "conspiracy theory." Except Russia Collusion, of course! Fox News is taking action to stave off newfound competition from Newsmax TV. Producers on some Fox programs have been told to monitor Newsmax's guest bookings and throw some sand in Newsmax's gears by encouraging guests who appear on both channels to stop saying yes to the upstart. According to Fox sources, producers were told to avoid some regular guests if they kept showing up on Newsmax after being encouraged to stop. Management's goal: to remind guests who's boss in the right-wing media world.Fox News denies this. But they're lying. Memo to Fox: When you threaten people, they tend to talk about it. To everyone.
Conservatives who attempt to delegitimize other conservatives as "far right" and "fringe" are not conservatives. They are liberals. I mentioned a source telling me that that was what Fox was telling itself. Now they call their own audience "radicalized." "Far right." "Fringe." "Radicalized." How is the way that Fox talks about its audience any different from how CNN talks about Fox's audience? Now comes Fox's pitiful attempts to appease its "radicalized," "far right," "fringe" audience: They're airing Tucker Carlson tips during the day to Con the Rubes so that neoliberals and plain old liberals Paul Ryan, Chris Wallace, Chris Stirewalt, and Bill Sammon can keep their jobs. By the way, the Fox staffers who talked to Tater savaged Maria Bartiromo as a lunatic conspiracy theorists. They hate you just as much. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

And ace - it's *always* time for vengeance and vituperation! On the topic of the post - it's not like I'm young (sadly) or innocent (hardly) - but I manage to continue to be taken aback at the totalitarian vibe in part of the country. That part being the "press", the Dems, and their satellite appendages (social media, tech, academia). Spent most of my life opposing and dealing with the dark ugly authoritarian side of human societies. My shock and disgust at seeing how bad things have become here are evergreen. Actually, they are pretty much right- we are becoming radicalized. This is response to the radicalization of our enemies, but it does not change it. I am not sure it is necessarily a bad thing as it brings a certain amount of clarity.
Now the obvious counter to this is that they do not mean it that way, merely a pejorative to hurl at the same audience they are supposed to be courting. Theoretically. What did you expect would happen, Fox? Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 26, 2020 01:04 PM (lmikk) 38

Kind of related, I think something many of us have experienced for years - the amazing gap in simple awareness and knowledge of central/important facts related to "politics" and public policy between those seeking out the info and actually thinking about it, and the great NPR-addled masses marinating in their increasingly distorted American News Product - has now reached critical dimensions.
The irregularities and likely fraud involved in this election will be, surely, considered fringe-ish nonsense by those who get their understanding of the world from the "news". Those with any background and paying attention will of course see massive, obvious problems, from brazen violations like excluding observers and mysterious unprecedented "pauses" in counting, to outlandishly improbable patterns of alleged votes. I've long since given up trying to bridge the reality gap with most people. But this is different. The dimensions here are unprecedented, and the consequences far more serious. Just curious. When did the truth become "radical"?
Fox actively participated in the effort to overthrow Trump. They called Arizona so early it was shocking. They refused to call any states Trump was winning by a much larger margin. Fox then went right along with the shutdown of vote counting as of that was normal. The coup de grace was putting that smug jerk on to explain his calls, which was basically because he said so. We continue to get treated to idiots like Rove telling us there is nothing to see here, we're all conspiracy nuts. I've read a lot of the filing and affidavits. Maybe you want to say they have to be proven. Ok. I'm fine with that. But to continue to point to the fraud and illegality as conspiracy is beneath contempt. There are material accusations which need to be explored. This isn't Sasquatch running through Walmart. I think where Fox lost is showing and continuing to show their hate for the audience without exploring in depth the substantive aspects is what makes them another liberal joke. Oh yeah, and you keep hoping people are coming back. Never. You suck. Posted by: Marcus T at November 26, 2020 01:12 PM (lPeix) 100
If history is any guide, the audience will gradually "come home," in the
words of one Fox executive, who pointed out that the network remains dominant among conservative viewers. I could see myself returning to Fox at some distant point, but only when the mouth-breathing fools who made these decisions are publicly and brutally shown the door (or the pool full of half-starved sharks). The only way that happens is a revolt of the shareholders, and I think that's a distinct possibility. Posted by: pep at November 26, 2020 01:13 PM (v16oJ) 101

And the good thing is there isn't just Newsmax. There's also OANN.
With just one alternative, as is seen with FN, you just con the rubes to get market share and then use that wealth to give yourself a sexchange into CNN. With OANN in the mix there's competition to out-alternative each other. The big thing is, don't trust any institution. If you look at society 100 years ago or more, there was a solid consensus that as long as no weapons were used, then it was just men being men and the police stayed out of it. Once weapons were drawn, however, then it became a police matter. Now somebody bumps somebody and it's down to the courthouse. I think it's part and parcel of the feminization of society. and I don't mean to say there's no need for weapons; a big problem today is that if you're in a conflict with some low life, you've got to assume he's going to have a weapon on him, so you better be carrying one yourself.
I saw a bunch of tweets a couple of days back about a Newsmax story around the 10th that there was no voter fraud, accept Biden is the new Preznit... and a bunch of pissed off conservatives.
I didn't check to see the validity or if the headline was a troll, there was a link to the offensive page. As of 11/20 I don't believe anything except what I dream up in my noggin. Seems to work for the left. Regardless of how any of this shakes out, I'm of a firm belief that "cable news" will be mostly dead in a year. Right now they're shitting the bed and we're hearing the death rattle. If Trump pulls this off, they'll have proven themselves useless liars. If Biden is sworn in, they'll have proven themselves useless liars and shills, and without a bad orange man to rag on 24/7, people who are looking to be angry will tune out en masse. Amazon is emailing some of the customers, because of course they know what you bought at Whole Foods as they own it now, for batches of turkey breast that "smelled bad" according to customer complaints. I did not see it on the web, but I spoke to someone this morning that received an email from Amazon, with a $50 gift certificate warning them about the smelly turkey breast, but claiming it is safe to consume. uh huh The persons I spoke to called the store where they bought the turkey breast and were told the batch numbers and they did not fall into it, but I wouldn't keep it regardless. And that is also how they found out about the smell complaint because no details were on the amazon email with gift certificate attached. He's often as humbly self-effacing as he is a petty malignant megalomaniac. There was, probably long ago in his youth, a grand struggle within him that ended with this decayed bitter result. Plainriff's experts also finds that voters received tens of thousands of ballots that they never requested. (Report cite) Specifically, Dr. Briggs found that in the State of GA, based on a statistically significant sample, the expected amount of persons that received an absentee ballot that they did not request ranges from 16,938 to 22,771. This range exceeds the margin of loss of President Trump by 12,670 votes by at least 4,268 unlawful requests and by as many as 10,101 unlawful requests. While Trump is very often self deprecating (usually at his rallies) I cannot recall one time I've seen Obama do the same. From the very start, he was a miserable scold. He crossed the Rubicon of a politician calling out citizens and then sic the press on them for making him look like the lying POS he is. Nope, from his college days on, all I see is somebody with an agenda against our way of life, and every single scribble he made suggests that. He thought he was one of the cool kids, hung out with the cool kids, and every person who knew him when he suddenly appeared out of nowhere has said the same. A narcissistic wanna-be with dreams of grandeur. I just hope at some point in the future we find out who this person really is, where he came from and who funded and groomed him. Funny how the useful idiots scream and whine about Trump's tax returns (as if they could even read them), but have zero curiosity as to Barky's college transcripts, how he paid for such a place with no fucking job, and where the hell he really came from. We continue to get treated to idiots like Rove telling us there is nothing to see here, we're all conspiracy nuts.
Among badly-written, thrown-together horror or sci-fi movies, there's a frequently-occurring meme. The hero or heroine is trying to convey vital information - aliens are among us, or there's a monster on the way, or something supernatural is going on. And people *who have known this character all her life* just decide she's crazy. Just like that, a switch is thrown and she's gone insane. That's what it's like listening to Fox News declare that its viewers have suddenly become "conspiracy nuts". A month ago, we were rational human beings; today we're escapees from a lunatic asylum. No explanation needed, mass insanity just can happen like that, overnight. Posted by: Dr. Mabuse at November 26, 2020 03:39 PM (NPokB) Posted by: Meremortal at November 26, 2020 03:56 PM (Bwqq4) 519
