Dr. COVID, or How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love 2020 [As Told By: Shibumi & Bozo Conservative]

22124.jpg

***

Shibumi:

Just to set the record straight, I'm self-employed and work at home. Earlier this year, I moved to hillbilly Ohio, oh, sorry, redneck Ohio, so it's not like there's 10,000 things to see and do here. I go to the grocery store. I go to the big box home improvement stores. I go to Walmart and Big Lots. I have the most boring life ever.

Since I don't go out much, there was no way I was going to get COVID. No way.

Although I wasn't planning on being sick, I do have an interest in alternative medicine. When COVID first started, I did a lot of research, and thought that quercetin might be useful in the fight against it. It's related to hydroxychloroquine; they are both zinc ionophores; they open a cell up and let zinc in to kill the infectious agent. Like COVID. I bought some of this, just to be safe:

Purchased goods.

We've purchased things through Life Extension before, and we like the company. This dosage is equivalent to 500mg quercetin. I also picked up 50mg of zinc. The suggested treatment for COVID with this combination is:

1 bio-quercetin + 1 50mg zinc 2x daily (am/pm) for 7 days.

I put it aside and didn't think about it. This was probably in late April or May.

So, one Saturday night in late October, I got chilled. I ignored it and bundled up for a few hours, and ignored it. But I still remained chilled. I also had a bad dry cough. I ignored it all for most of the evening, but then decided to take my temperature. It was 102.

The next morning, I started on the bio-quercetin/ zinc combination, with either ibuprofen, aspirin or Tylenol, every four to six hours, since my temperature remained high. I honestly thought it was the flu, since I had no shortness of breath or loss of taste/smell. If you look at the symptoms of the flu vs. COVID, they are exactly the same. Pneumonia also has very similar symptoms. I did try to self‐quarantine at home, at least for the first few days. The first two days I slept a lot. After that, I felt better, and was able to work on my laptop and watch tv. I was NOT severely ill and did not even consider seeing a doctor or going to the hospital. As I said, I thought it was the flu.

That all being said, I had a fever for seven days. And then... it went away. And I felt fine, although I suspected that I might have a secondary bronchial infection, since I had a productive cough. For that, I took echinacea for about five days. I never went to the doctors, and have been fever free for two weeks. I currently have no symptoms and was advised against getting tested.

There is, however, another part of the story. About four days after I got sick, Bozo Conservative (aka 'the husband') started having symptoms. FYI, he is Of A Certain age and has high blood pressure which is being treated. This was about Oct 28.

Bozo Conservative:

And....we were out of quercetin. I had foreseen this and ordered more from Amazon, but the order was late/cancelled. So I only had quercetin for a few days, then out. My fever was steady for days (99-103), although I took Ibuprofen and aspirin, which tamped it down. My appetite started to wane after a few days, and I started to feel nauseous all the time. I was not drinking enough fluids, and was de-hydrating and getting weaker. I didn't want to eat either, and was sleeping a lot.

Shibumi:

At one point, I remembered that Ace of Spades commenter Sharkman had something that was useful for COVID. A few months ago, I wrote down his contact information.

So... I emailed Sharkman, and he sent over a supplement called Cell Armour that is not available in the U.S. Sharkman works for a company in California that manufactures Cell Armour and sells it through a company in Hong Kong. Sharkman can provide a scientific spec sheet for it. Bozo Conservative took it for five days; we're not sure if it helped or not. That being said, it certainly did not hurt, and to be honest, it might have kept him from getting much, much sicker.

For those interested, Sharkman can be reached at eventhorizonescapee@gmail.com. Other morons had luck with the Cell Armour; I'm not sure if Bozo Conservative did or not, since he was already quite far along in his infection. And wouldn't see a doctor or go to the hospital. We can't thank Sharkman enough for his thoughtfulness and generosity. He's a really great guy.

Bozo Conservative:

On Nov 7, Shibumi took me to the Emergency at Mt Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. I was put on an IV, had a chest X-ray and a Covid19 nose swab.

Results of the swab were COVID positive, reinforced by the chest X-ray. Went home that night --the hospital was booked at 124% level with no available rooms--and went back to bed. I still felt pretty lousy, and was getting weaker; I was given something for the nausea and an antibiotic, which made me sick. On Monday, I had a medical telecon with my physician, when she told me I also had pneumonia, and gave me a different antibiotic. Shibumi bought a little pulse-oxygen meter (available on Amazon for just $17), and my blood-oxygen level was 80-84%, which was much too low.

On a second medical telecon with my doctor on Thursday, she told me to get to a hospital. ASAP.

This is important. REALLY important. Find a hospital with rooms, because a lot of hospitals are filled up now. We didn't go into Columbus, which is a dark red COVID zone [COVID map here: https://infection2020.com/] . We went to the city east of us, which is our county seat.

The ambulance showed up and put me on oxygen immediately. This made me feel a lot better and my oxygen level went up to more normal 92-93%.

I went to Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, which is a relatively small regional hospital. I went into emergency, started getting an IV (saline) and Remdisivir. It was the first Remdisivir of three doses. I had another chest x-ray, and then was taken out for CT Scan, to look for blood clots in my chest and abdomen; I was clear. The nurse also gave me Dexamethasone (lung inflammation), and a technician came into the room to do an ultrasound on my abdominal organs, looking for any clotting damage; none was found. After being there about 7 hours, I finally got into a room in the COVID isolation ward. I got a bottle of water and a ham sandwich. Yay. I went to sleep about 2 am, after getting poked and prodded and blood sampled out the ying-yang.

Shibumi:

There is a procedure being followed at hospitals. When you walk in, then give you both a temperature check. You are allowed to take the patient up to the desk in the lobby, but that is as far as you can go. Make sure your loved one has a CHARGED cell phone with them; they will be able to use it. You will not be allowed to sit in the lobby or go any farther with your loved one. You will be exiled to... your car in the parking lot. Waiting. For hours.

At Mt Caramel, they gave me a number to call to reach the nurse. At Licking Memorial, I was able to talk to the supervisor and a nurse about Bozo Conservatives' condition; both came to meet me in the small lobby area.

The rest of the time I spent texting Bozo Conservative, since he was short of breath, and that was easier than talking.

Bozo Conservative:

Friday came, my appetite had returned, and ate three good meals that day.

My blood was sampled more, and I received an IV with Azithromycin and saline, to fight the secondary infection from pneumonia, if any. I then received 2 units of antibody plasma --it came in cold-- the then later the second IV of Remdisivir. The antibody plasma was shipped in from D.C.

Saturday was pretty quiet. They took me off oxygen to see how my blood gases would go, and it was now steady as 93-94%. I received more Azithromycin, Dexamethasone tablets, and the third Remdisivir IV just before they released me Saturday night. My temperature now was normal and under control. Came home Saturday night, and I am now getting stronger and recovering.

I have no idea what was most effective in treatment, but according to people I have talked to (indirectly), the Dexamethasone, Remdisivir and antibody plasma are now the standard treatments for Covid 19. I still have a little shortness of breath, but it is getting a whole lot better.

Overall, I think +99% of people will shake this off. I expected to shake it off, and I got a lot worse. I have high blood pressure, which might have had a pretty negative effect on the progress of my infection and my recovery, plus I had gotten pneumonia. I think the masks are useless; trying to stop mosquitoes with a chain link fence. The important thing is to protect people with serious co-morbidities. Two people that my sister has known have died of COVID19 complications; one was a 72 year old woman with some serious heart congestion problems prior to the disease, and the other was her son who was 42--a big guy who was overweight who had diabetes. Really tragic. There were several older people in the COVID 19 ward at the hospital that were in bad shape and intubated to help them breathe; that is actually just about a death sentence.

There are several strains of the COVID 19 out there; some may be more dangerous than others. Take Vitamin D3 and Vitamin C to boost your immune system. Bio quercetin and Zinc seemed to help Shibumi shake it off and recover.

Shibumi:

It was my idea to write this. If we had not gone to the smaller hospital, I don't know what would have happened. It could have gone very, very badly. So if you're in this position, find out what hospitals are admitting emergency COVID patients. If you're in a dark red COVID infection area, consider going to a neighboring county that is not as infected, if you can.

Also...make sure your loved one has a charged cell phone with them and their charger. And be extremely vigilant when they are being discharged. I've gone through many hospital discharge situations in the past, and it's easy to make mistakes and forget something. This is even worse, since you are not standing there listening to the nurse. We were lucky; Bozo Conservative's nurse called and went over the discharge instructions with me over the phone, and then sent him home with detailed, precise instructions. I am now considered COVID positive, because I live with someone who has it and did have symptoms.

Finally... I think he should change his nickname to "Bozo Conservative, Plague Husband."

14 One of the big fights will continue to be over Nancy's fake stimulus package. These c*cksuckers will threaten to tank the economy with Covid unless they get what they want. Which is a huge bailout of Blue places, and Nancy's wish list of things like mandatory national vote harvesting.

As we keep throwing trillions around, don't forget that wasteful spending is always an opportunity cost. We could have done something useful with those trillions. Huge things, luxurious things. Or put it in our pockets.

Thanks.

We're both fine now. I really feel pretty good, just my stamina is down. I get tired easily, but that's getting better.

Biggest recommendation is to take Vitamin D

Everybody is probably short of Vitamin D3 in their blood stream, and there has been found a STRONG correlation between that and resisting Covid 19.

I take about 4000 IU a day now (was taking 2000 IU a day prior).
And Vitamin C.

If you are concerned, get the Quercetin and Zinc, and have it on hand, just in case. Not expensive at all. It really seemed to help Shibumi

We're really concerned about getting the vaccines. They are mRNA vaccines, and will work to change your DNA to produce Covid T-cell antibodies.
There is NO long term knowledge about what mRNA vaccines will do to you.
There are rumors of sterility following administration.

Shibumi has a very good friend that works with pharmaceutical companies doing chemo clinical trials. She is pretty Lefty, but she absolutely will not take the vaccine, because she thinks it could be very dangerous.

She might as well double or triple her monetary requests and throw every leftist wet dream into it. That way the GOP Senate can give her more then she actually wanted when they agree to 3/4 of it and still declare a win. Just like old times.

Posted by: lowandslow at November 21, 2020 09:36 AM (4thlk)

37 Regarding a vaccine, I have a very close friend that manages clinical drug trials. She is also a big time liberal.

She said the trials for the COVID drugs have been botched horribly, and she will NOT take it. She also added "it WILL kill people."

Finally, it is an mRNA vaccine which alters your DNA. These have NOT been tested in the past, and there are NO long term tests of these vaccines.

39 With content like this AoS is going to get the reputation as a smart medical blog.

Glad to hear you were both able to kick this.

On top of probably both getting things started by taking the right medication, it seems one of your best choices was getting to a hospital where the staff knew what they were doing and actually cared enough to help thier patients, which both probably has a lot to do with a big chunk of the deaths, where hospitals chose the wrong course of treatment (either through lack of knowledge or stubbornness to stay the course instead of trying something new) and eventually many just became complacent, figuring it was a 100% death rate so why even bother trying to change things, just hook'em up to a vent and move on.

Posted by: Rbastid at November 21, 2020 09:38 AM (XwTyM)

40 The lives saved by the vaccines will be credited to Biden, whose brave leadership brought them to fruition in record time.

Those with unfortunate side effects go to Trump, who rushed the product without sufficient testing.

This is a game so easy, you can play at home.

You can't handle the news.

Posted by: humphreyrobot at November 21, 2020 09:41 AM (pB6Gt)

42 For those who are what one might call COVID deniers, the vast majority of people who get this will recover without going to the doctor. The friend that does clinical drug trials is in Seattle and got it extremely early; her health is not all that good, yet she kicked it without a doctor. I know a few others who are in the mid/late 50's who have some health issues and they got over it.

That being said, there are different strains; right now, they told me there are two different strains in the Columbus area. Your experiences might vary.

There were a few studies in the last week that seemed to point to us having a cross immunity from other Flus. So if you have those T-Cells you'll possibly get Covid but have little to no symptoms.

I think your theory also holds some water, add this new vaccine, made in record time, supposedly has a much higher rates than the normal Flu vaccine which they've been working on for decades.

My company works a lot with the Chinese, and I have been to China a few times. Most Chinese are super nice people, and it is fun watching them argue with government flunkies.
The government is tyrannical and terrible, what they did to the Falun Gong and now Muslim Uighurs is really bad.
Fauci perpetuated the "wet market" origin myth, which is provably false.
The virus has been genetically sequenced, and it has HIV peptide sequences in it, which evolution or nature could never have put in there.

In 2015, there was a big debate in the Virology (in the US) community about modifying virus to potentiate them to create stronger vaccines. American scientists decided that was unethical and would not do it.

So Fauci (Bill Gates, and others) funneled money to the Wuhan lab to do this research. There are a lot of published papers about this.
It came out of Wuhan, and the CCP has now used it as a global bio-weapon to gain economic advantage. That was not the original plan ( I believe), but how it has worked out.
Fauci (spit) has played along. He is a very poor doctor and unethical man.

Thanks for this info.

My elderly mother is generally doing great, but she's had a few emergency visits to the hospital over the past three years -- had a bad cough she couldn't get over once (could have been early covid!) and a pancreatic blockage sort of thing. It all turned out okay.

If she needs to go in again and they want to keep us out, I don't know what I'll do. I expect this lockdown shit to persist through the end of 2021, especially in hospitals, especially in California. If anything happens to her, you might see me in the news.

There has been concern that if you DNA is changed, that essentially you will not be considered human any more, and you will not be recognized by God when you die.

that sounds correct ...I wish I knew the science well enough to pin down exactly who is telling the truth on details. Judy Mikovits makes some big claims on this, and she was directly involved with Fauci "stealing" work from someone else ...

Mikovits has books on this stuff ... going back to 2014. BigPharma come up with incredible stuff, but Money seems to drive the bus.

I think the key to this all are the co-morbidities; that might be why Bozo Conservative got very sick and I did not.

And I did not get really sick. Once I stopped the horrible chills and coughing, the fever didn't really bother me. For me, this was not nearly as bad as food poisoning or a bad stomach bug. I'd say it was kind of equal to a bout of bronchitis.

79 You should not take ibuprofen or acetaminophen when you have a respiratory infection: they metabolize down to acids which can be trapped in fluids which, themselves, are trapped in your lungs.

This is, after all, what pneumonia is: fluid trapped in the lungs.

All you're doing is potentially irritating your lungs more, causing them to swell more, and thus, keep fluids trapped.

This is EXACTLY why hydroxychloroquine is prescribed: it reduces swelling in lung tissue without breaking down into an acid, and helps to restore lung function much faster.

My wife -- who has muscular dystrophy -- caught a bad Coronavirus in January of 2019 (Yes, that's January of 2019: COVID-19 was possibly here already, they just didn't know. Read my blog to find out WHY).

Her doctors -- the Korean attending in the ER, and the Egyptian pulmonologist (two nations where Miss Rona are as common as dogcrap on the sidewalk) once they had a confirmation of Coronavirus, gave her azithromycin, remdesivir and HCQ (2400 mg delivered over about 10 days).

She was already using oxygen 24/7, and a bi-pap mask 8-10 hours a night. Her MD affects all the muscles in her torso, making it difficult for her to breathe. They upped the bi-pap usage to 16 hours a day, too.

And she recovered in about 3 weeks.

P.S., she hasn't had so much as a fucking sniffle in the last 21 months.

There is no mystery in HOW to treat a Coronavirus, and after all is said and done, COVID-19 IS ONLY A CORONAVIRUS (it causes a cold or flu).

We're either dealing with gross incompetence at all levels, malpractice on a massive scale, or a deliberate effort the ends of which are currently speculative but probably evil.

It could be stopped, if not completely eliminated with something called Ivermectin. But the powers that be don't want it stopped. There is not enough money in social security to keep paying seniors, and the states don't have enough Medicaid cash in their coffers. Killing off older people with illnesses is a huge bonus for them.

111 My favorite hobby horse about Covid 19 is Ivermectin. This was originally developed as a modification of Streptomycin antibiotic (by the Japanese), to stop insect parasites in humans; also widely used in veterinarian medicine. Since the 1970's, it has shown to be an effective anti-viral agent also, in many cases. This is not something that somebody pulled "out of the blue".

This has been shown to be (when tried) very effective in stopping Covid 19 and acting as a prophylaxis.

It has been widely used in at least one major province in India to protect health care workers.

One dose a month. This drug is on the WHO essential medications list.

If we all took one dose a month for three months, the Covid 19 virus would be stomped out; in my humble opinion. But...that seems too easy.

Even worse (not to diminish what happens to those who are elderly or have comorbidities) many young and completely healthy people die of the Flu.

Everyone tried to compare this to the Spanish flu at first, but ignored how what made that flu so devastating was how it killed young and healthy people. With Covid19 we basically knew that you could combat 90%+ of the deaths by protecting the vulnerable, meanwhile with the yearly flu everyone is vulnerable, which now allows the government to repeat thier process if tyranny whenever the want.

Because everyone's going to be exposed to it, or enough that there's no way to guarantee that you won't, short of complete isolation. Treating it like the flu - a course of treatment that will help get over it at home, and warning signs that indicate that you need to get to a hospital - is how this is supposed to work in a rational world.

Yes, it is widely used as a horse wormer. My elder sister and her husband use it on their horses.
But is was originally developed for humans.

It is not recommended to use the veterinary grade for people, but if I was sick, I probably would.

There are very strict recommendations on drug amounts to body mass. Too much Ivermectin may be toxic. I think there has been some stuff published about that in the Internet.

Spent one day puking then two or three days sniffling and feeling like crap. My chest was also really tight and I contiued hacking for a couple weeks after.

Never got tested but I had been around a group of people who had just returned from China recently just prior to getting sick. I am just guessing that it was the Ronas but I don't go the damn doctor unless I am dying anyway.

So yeah a bad flu bug.

I would say it would probably be in the mid-90% level, at least.

If you are super-healthy and an athlete, it might be higher.

I just took mine, and it is at 95-96% level now (and I'm still not quite 100%).
Last week before oxygen and the hospital, it was 82-84%, and I felt like crap. I kept thinking I would turn the corner, and it wasn't happening.
I have never been so sick so long in my life, and felt like crap. I usually shake these things off fast.

Can't wait to get my medical bills. I have good insurance coverage, but this was probably $45-50K for the days in hospital, etc. and I will have a lot of deductible to pay. The $3K minimum, plus some other things that I will probably have to pay.

158 My oximeter was tested by my pulmonologist. They used it on my stress test, instead of theirs.

American hospitals are positively LOUSY with hydroxychloroquine and have stockpiled it for years.

It is given to people with lupus, arthritis, MS, and a host of other maladies all the time, and large supplies are kept on hand to combat potential outbreaks of Zika virus, Yellow Fever, and West Nile virus.

It wasn't all that long ago that the AMA and other medical bodies were lobbying Congress to make HCQ available OVER THE COUNTER...even as they were telling us HCQ was a deadly poison, vis-a-vis COVID-19.

Money doesn't enter into this. It's a useful and effective drug. We export it, for Chrissakes! They make it by the shipload right next door in New Jersey. They have for 9 decades. If it was all about money and there's no profit in it, why turn it out in massive numbers for 90 years?

The issue is political -- the wrong guy (Trump) recommended it (and a doctor told him about it) and the bureaucratic "experts" in government, who fucked up COVID response to begin with -- don't like to be proven wrong.

If we ever get a true accounting of the history of this virus, President Trump's efforts--and the efforts of all those he appointed and gathered--would be viewed as nothing short of heroic.

This is a terrible virus for some--and the focus should be on those with comorbidities. With the right care, MOST will survive.

212 One thing I have learned about all of this is the importance of physical symbols to totalitarians.

These are people that simply can't be satisfied unless they are inflicting their control on other people.

It's not that they believe that masks and their draconian rules are magic or that they even work. The point is to see how far they can push you - what freedoms will you trade for even the hope of protection from BIG SCARY EVIL through controlling your speech and your appearance by demanding faithfully wearing a magical talisman or dutiful compliance with their superstitious practices involving controlling movement with arrows, circles and 6 foot lines on the floor.

The whole terrified country was/is trying to stay "on base" and avoid stepping on mother's back-breaking cracks.

They created a Covid cult based on fear of their evil Virus God and then made adherence to their beliefs the state religion. Like Scientology on steroids.

Which is why the Trump team's insistence on compliance with mask-superstition and social-distance magic not only pisses me off , but is frankly exacerbating the damage to the American people.

224 "The two nurses definitively said "Oh, that doesn't work. We only use Remdisivir."

Because nurses are experts in the field of virology?

They may "only use remdesivir" because that is a hospital policy -- giving HCQ to a patient with diabetes or a congenital heart problem (which may go undetected, because either the patient is unaware of it or because no one bothered to test for it) can be fatal.

By "B.C." I'm going to assume you mean "British Columbia", home of the 10-month wait for the maternity ward?

Here in the US, until March of this year, hospitals could not test in-house for corona: they had to send a sample to CDC in Atlanta to confirm. Which means we were FedEx'ing Corona all over the country. Which also means many Corona patients were being misdiagnosed as "influenza" cases, and treated accordingly.

Last year's "record flu epidemic", according to doctors I'm talking to, now turns out to have been a flu epidemic that ran concurrently or was preceded by a corona outbreak.

Coronaviruses are VERY common and our response to them has been haphazard and disjointed, mostly hampered by gov't action here in the US (like the doctor in Seattle they prosecuted for "illegally" modifying a flu test to find Coronasviruses).

That's one of the reasons that I wrote this. I don't want people to have to get so desperately ill that they make two visits to emergency. Going to a smaller, regional hospital was kind of against my way of thinking, but now, I'm 100% on board with it. The key was... it's not in an infection zone.

Only missed 1 day of work (a Friday). I assumed at the time that it could not possibly be COVID, and was just a bad cold, because there had not been any cases reported within 200 miles of our area at that time. Now I have to wonder.....

Bozo and Shibumi, thank you for telling this story.
I came down with a sore throat from sinus drainage yesterday. I am concerned but, no fever, no loss of taste or smell. No respiratory issues.
I didn't sleep well. I too, have high BP but it's under control. A life long history of asthma, pneumonia and other stuff.
I got the flu shot in September and have had the two shot pneumonia vaccine. Taking lots of zinc, Vitamins C and D3.
Be safe everyone and do what you can to avoid this crap.

Others were not being watched at all, how many did they change? (for the greater good, they must be thinking)

That's the thing. Republicans were never allowed to actually see the ballots or the envelops. And not just in Georgia. Same stuff happened in PA and beyond. That in and of itself is illegal.

That's why the left has been so eager to ram this thing through and claim it's a done deal. It's not.

276 The money is not being made in HCQ, but on the testing...which is practically worthless.

I've been getting 'rona tests for the last 21 months (because of my Mrs.). The only one worth a damn is the test for live virus -- it tells you if you have the virus RIGHT NOW.

However, the test results in both false positives and negatives about 50% of the time.

The "anti-body test" is likewise, useless. It will tell if you've had a Coronavirus, but not necessarily WHEN. If you have antibodies, the virus done up and left and you survived the experience, possibly without ever knowing you had it.

The PCR test is a joke: it looks for Coronavirus DNA. Depending on how many cycles they run (each cycle is effectively going back in time) they may detect fragments of Corona DNA from an infection you had years ago, scoring "a positive".

General Rule of Thumb: if you strike out in finding what you're looking for in the first 20-40 cycles, it's probably not there, and I'm being told the PCR tests are being put through 100 or more cycles (because they produce even more false results), meaning we're finding "more cases". We aren't: we're finding more instances where someone once HAD a 'rona bug, often years ago, and not making the distinction between a new infection and an old one when compiling the stats.

Just like we're not making distinctions on death certificates between people who died OF the end results of 'rona, and people who died WITH 'rona.

277 Do you take ace inhibitors for high blood pressure? I've read that they

Nope. He's on a calcium channel blocker.

I think you are more vulnerable if you have high blood pressure; if you have untreated high blood pressure, that's a bad, bad thing. Many older African American men have HBP that is untreated, which is, I think, why the death rate is so high in Detroit.

Those were all torn down within weeks of being set up, at the expense of hundreds of millions of dollars.

The temp hospitals in NYC treated less than a hundred people total, I'm pretty sure.

The temp hospital in Chicago at McCormick Place treated maybe a dozen people.

But the right people got paid millions to set them up, then tear them down.

My personal opinion is that once the big city governments figured out that actually taking care of sick peasants would save lives of the peasants, they couldn't get those temp hospitals torn down fast enough.

I don't think it was 90 percent of the operational aircraft. I think it was, of the aircraft that are in the sky, 90 percent of them are over CONUS and 10 percent are OCONUS. That doesn't strike me as particularly unusual, especially with Thanksgiving coming up, so optional air missions are likely to be curtailed due to troops/sailors/airmen on leave, and with this being a weekend, the Guard and Reserve will be in the sky.

316 I know absolutely no one stricken with The Virus, and it's helpful to know what to expect should it come to me or mine...

I was convinced I had the flu; however, since I was sick, and Bozo Conservative got it four days after me, they count me as a case. BTW... I did try to quarantine before he got sick.

My symptoms were consistent. His were up and down. Overall, we had completely different experiences.

BTW... flu and COVID symptoms are exactly the same, and you don't have to have ALL the symptoms to have it. I did not have any of the telltale COVID symptoms.

318 My own experience with Chinese corona was a lot less severe.

I'm 70 years old, overweight, with type 2 diabetes, impaired kidney function, and a chronic cough. I had a mild heat attack in 2006, and every day I take 3 insulin shots and more pills than Elvis.

I had chills and muscle aches for two days, then it was over. I didn't even know it was covid until I took a blood test for covid antibodies a month later.

Totally irrelevant aside: I was born at Mt. Carmel hospital in Columbus.

---------------

Both my wife and I have come down with something that appears to be not much more than some sort of seasonal bug. My wife has slowed down a bit, not much, and I've not really slowed down at all.

No real fever, just a cough, some nasal congestion, etc. (I'm an asthmatic, early stages of emphysema and had Valley Fever, which scarred my lungs)

But, because of the hysteria, we're keeping a low profile and staying home as much as possible.

And, my personal opinion, the Covid hysteria has had the opposite effect of what was expected.

I honestly believe those who need to seek medical treatment are avoiding it, because of the quarantine consequences and those who don't really need to see a doctor are overloading the system.

Please ask yourself if this was really a result of the virus or extreme media and political hype.

For as long as I can remember, the years that OK has been hit hard by the annual flu, hospitals have always been at capacity or more.

Posted by: Justsayin' at November 21, 2020 11:37 AM (Fs5vw)

330 "Where are the temporary hospitals that they set up that went unused for the most part? Do they not want to set them up again in the 'hot spots'?"

This is the usual government response to every "crisis". Especially a "crisis" government has manufactured. That is to say, OVERKILL, and always after the horse has shit and bolted the barn.

Just a theory on my part, but, the left's platform for the last 40 years has been:

1. Commitment to "Diversity".
2. Open Borders
3. Government-run healthcare, including expansion of Medicare and Medicaid
4. High-density urban living for "environmental" purposes.
5. Pushing people to use public transportation.

If you live in New York City, like I do, here's how it looks:

The Diversity crossed the Open Borders and infected everyone with a virus that easily spreads. The city(government)-run hospitals were inundated by illegals, the elderly (who depend upon Medicare and Medicaid), who crashed the system, aided and abetted by a public transportation system (Subways) which helped spread the virus very quickly in a high-density, urban environment.

This happened in an election year, no less.

So, we can see what the left's vision of America leads to: outbreaks of disease brought by immigrants and allowed in by lax immigration control (especially in the area of catching infectious diseases), government hospitals that cannot respond to them, and then democrats imposing lockdowns, mass unemployment, economic ruin, school closings, and diktats regarding mandatory testing and masks, and restrictions on freedom of association and travel.

Here in NYC, the State Police were sent into Private, for-profit and non-profit hospitals to forcibly TAKE equipment, drugs and PPE to be given to the failing city-run hospitals.

The one hospital singled out as The Worst (Elmhurst, in Queens) serves neighborhoods with names like "Chinatown", "Koreatown" and "Little Egypt". All countries where coronaviruses are very common ('rona is not native to North America: it comes from East Asia and the Middle East. Basically, anywhere the Mongol Horde went).

The more you suffered, wondering how you were going to pay the rent or where your next meal was coming from, of if your kids were in danger because they went to algebra class, the less you noticed who was responsible.

And the more you didn't care how much was wasted in the response. I'll bet a good portion of the money spent here made it's way back to DeBlasio, Cuomo, AOC, and democrats, in general.

And then the Guy In Charge gets blamed, and he has to be made a scapegoat.

I'm very confident that my whole family got it in February. (Vectors: We live in a university town with many Chinese students, and I work on a military base where personnel regularly rotate in from South Korea.)
For my wife (younger than me) and my daughter it was just a bad cold with two-three days of mild fever.
For me -- male, age 50, slightly overweight and high blood pressure -- it was four-five weeks of sneezing and coughing and fatigue, repeatedly starting to get better and then getting worse again. A period of several days in the first week where my sense of smell was severely blunted, a symptom I had never before experienced with any illness. Mild fever that came and went, and one night where it spiked hard for a couple of hours. And a nasty sinus infection (I was blowing out gunk that was BROWN -- never seen that before) that required a Z-pack.

341 Quercetin with Zinc, C and D are lifesavers imo. I had something that attacked my lungs. A burning fire I had never experienced in my life. It started at the bottom and slowly rose. When it got to the point at the bottom of my breasts, the doorbell rang. It was Amazon finally delivering my Quercetin along with the zinc, A and D which I took immediately. 1.5 hours later, the burning was completely gone. I did not know it should be taken twice a day and 12 hours later, the cytokine storm hit my lungs again. Retook the drugs and again was gone in 1.5 hours. I took the cocktail twice a day for months as I was afraid of a return episode.

My husband also got it and the Quercetin worked for him as well.

371 The monoclonal antibodies frm lily andnregeneron especially are better than plasma. There's a certain dose of antibodies, in plasma its variable. Then plasma had a countervailing downside - it can trigger clotting (doesn't always but it's a risk) and it can cancel out the benefit if antibodies. We should all have access via EUA to Regeneron but the FDA is obstacle-dogging it. LIly, less trump friendly got its EUA a little over a week ago and it already helping older folks a lot. Women can get very ill, but men have extra risk, since they have more of the receptors that are the main point of entry for SARS CoV-2 in the cell. That's the ACE2 receptor, and when it's coopted it deranged feedback loops in the RAS which cause a cascade of issues, including cellular damage from oxidative stress. Being Vitamin D deficient is a risk factor because the active form in the blood reduces oxidative stress.

376 Still no response to my question as to where you think you might have picked this virus up. It didn't come from nothing. When, where, and from whom? Surely you have thought about this. Care to share? Or are we to buy the idea that behavior doesn't matter.

377 @Judy London,

Considering the virus can be "picked up" in a public lavatory, a dormitory, any place someone has sneezed in the last 15 minutes, or so, you get a mess of letters and bills sealed with spit delivered to your door every day by a government employee, and masks have been definitively proven to be ineffective as a defense against the Peking Pox, I would say

NO. Behavior doesn't (much) matter.

Viruses do some mysterious things.

Would you ask someone the same question if they had caught chicken pox?

378 @JudyLondon: I got mumps the summer I was 20. We have absolutely no idea where I got it from. Probably someone on a bus in Dublin, but it takes a week or so before the swelling starts. Same with the year I got flu. I didn't know anyone who had it, but I was nearly sick enough to end up hospitalized. Probably got it from someone I passed in the hall at work, but it could have been through the kids' daycare, or shopping. Viruses do their thing.
