Net Neutrality - a limerick

An old fishing codger named Waring
Had no luck when he went out sea-faring
Told his first mate Sam Crowder
"You'll have to speak louder!
It seems I'm a bit hard of herring!"

21 Kind of a strange dichotomy here. When I think Gloucester, I see colorful characters and strong people. The muted colors of this really comes off as a polar opposite to that.

31 He does the water quite well. Impressionist light on water or nature tends to look really good. The depiction of the boats though is rather uninteresting.

48 I generally only like Impressionist style for landscapes and greenery but this painting appeals. The simple, basic shapes of the boats and structures is enough to catch the feel of a calm tide. But I found myself imagining other details like planking on the boats and dock, swaying of the masts, and greater color on the boats themselves. I also like the way he captured the gentle light which illuminates everything without being garish. The absence of people adds to the feeling of tranquility. A pleasant, quiet image.

CBD, thanks for such an enjoyable picture to end the week.

49 The sidebar link re the Outkick article of the NBA-BLM....

"At one time...the NBA was a collection of the world's greatest athletes."

Sorry but LMFAO. Hyperbole much? In its BEST season, the NBA was the biggest collection of lumbering, slow, unathletic dudes throwing an orange ball thru a ring where the primary "skill" is being 7' tall. Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest b-ball player ever, tried desperately and failed to buy his way into baseball where apparently his "athleticism" with the orange ball translated zip zero nada into a TRUE athletic sport of MLB. Enjoy Outkick but in the words of Sleepy..."c'mon man!"

69 Gloucester is about an hour away from me, more or less.

Rockport (home of the overpainted "Motif No. 1") is on the way to Gloucester. There is - or was - a lovely little locals' place there called "The Red Skiff." Years ago, I would meet a couple of buds for Saturday morning golf in Essex, then we'd all drive in to the Skiff for breakfast.

I miss those buds. I miss those days.

The drive from Newburyport / West Newbury through Ipswich, Essex and Rockport out to Cape Ann is lovely.

And now it's time to work. Ugh.

All of them. Gloucester juts out on Cape Anne north of Boston and boats leave from there to pursue everything from local cod to getting up to the swordfish grounds.

The boat in Perfect Storm left from Gloucester.

101 What really gets me right now is how fast "they" make you forget all their polling games and stunts. For example "they" tell me now that Nate Silver was the "only one" who even gave Trump a chance in 2016. It's canon now. But it is objectively false.

The LA times tracking poll had Trump ahead nationally most of the summer and fall. Wonder why they abandoned it???? And we know Trafalgar did too. So they just lie. "Nate was totes the most accurate! He's not even a pollster! He just models the polls!"

Silver said Hillary had a better chance of winning TX than Trump did of winning the election. He said it in October. And even now that's unfalsifiable like every other claim by the Left. Honestly, what is the point of you?

But they will get this so dramatically wrong... again... the single biggest political movement in modern history... and it's not hidden... it is right there being rippled around the world daily... and the "news" and "pollsters" have just missed it. And then they just lie it away. Then it's onto the next scandal and set of polls. Incredible.

It seems that our Congress critters are talking about making changes to the way in which the big tech platforms are allowed to censor us. We need to give them the clue bat that censorship of any kind is unconstitutional and unacceptable.

It needs to be clearly stated that the only monitoring a service provider should be doing is looking for illegal content.

- If illegal content is found:
- It shall be archived for legal investigation
- It shall be hidden from public view
- Law enforcement must be notified immediately

- If law enforcement is NOT notified, then content shall not be modified, flagged, notated, redirected, or interfered with in any way. Nor shall access, reference, or redistribution of content be hindered in any way.

- Each violation, or false report to law enforcement, is subject to fine and/or imprisonment.

The Left is going to break next Tuesday.

They've been built up to a point where they know Trump will "win" election day but lose in the next few days. Instead the vast majority of absentee and mail in ballots will be counted and reported on Tuesday, and they will show Trump with a lead in places like NH and NV.

If Trump is winning NH and NV, he's winning the whole race.

They're really working overtime towards making it look like an understatement. GOP needs to start crafting policy proposal to hurt the MSM in various ways. At the minimum, the next time GOP has control of congress and presidency, NPR needs to go away. I think a nice bout of copyright reform to cut terms to ~20 years for corporate owned properties would go a long way to clearing out excess profits MSM owners (Disney, NBC, CBS, etc.) can plow back into unprofitable news division, might be in order. Would also hurt Hollywood more broadly, which is nice.

The harsh consonant sound of the T in Gatwick breaks the flow of the word, I'd guess.

336 I was playing around with the 270 map and there are some crazy ways Trump could win. One is losing Texas but winning NH (plus everything else from 2016). I almost want that to happen. It will also undermine any other future elections where the media tries to tip the scales no matter what other factors get put into play.

This is an act of desperation.

I do not share your confidence. Yes, the media has no credibility left. Yes, people increasingly hate them - on the Right for being what they are, on the Left for not being as effective as they used to be, in the center because constant one-sided shrieking gets old - but they are still the press and they are still huge and sadly influential.

I really want you to be right, but I don't think they shrivel up and become ineffective or pointless from here. It *might* get there eventually, but they've been declining for years and still have the power they do.

I have resolved not to talk about anything that could happen after November 3rd until after November 3rd (the way Jill Biden has been measuring the White House Drapes disgusts me) BUT 2024 is gonna be a whole new world. What we're seeing now, I believe, is the last gasp of the Dem party as it has existed for the last 30 or 40 years.

We're so focused here that we haven't been able to pay much attention to the UK - Boris Johnson continues to be incredibly lucky. I think he's mishandled Covid quite badly, and his Brexit negotiations have failed and now they're going to crash out, all things that should hurt his popularity greatly - BUT on the other side, Labour, which lost the election badly last December, is ripping itself to pieces in an internal cival war. Jeremy Corbyn, the Bernie of England, hero of the Far Left, was just suspended by the Labour Party for rampant anti-semitism. (which of course everyone knew about for years) And all of the Cornyn supporters are being kicked out of all party positions.

It's a good move, objectively, but it does mean they're tossing out about 75% of their voters in the last election. Once again, Boris comes out on top not because he's really all that good, but because he always ends up being the Last Man Standing.

Don't be so hard on the Welsh.

When they lost to the English for the last time, the English took all their vowels away as a form of punishment and reparations. This is why the Queen's English uses all those superfluous vowels (like 'colour' and all the rest) - that had a massive problem of vowel inflation after they vanquished the Welsh.

The Welsh, on the other hand, were thrust to into a vowel poverty from which they still haven't recovered!

They're playing their hand as it was dealt, and hoping for the best. Even if they win this thing they'll never run another campaign like this - it's a stripped-down-to-the-bare-minimum, skeleton crew operation to conceal their worthless candidate from the public to whatever extent they can.

395 389 Why? Key quote:

"It's our understanding that Joe Biden will have a small private meeting with about a dozen people on Friday at AvFlight, which operates a private aircraft terminal," said airport spokesman Harold Mester. "We have been told that the meeting is not open to the public."

Four days before the election, his rally consists of a dozen people and not open to the public.

Just wow.

Only being done so the liars can say 'we rally at airports too!' - implying a need for space for great big crowds. Just like waving to empty tarmacs, it's framing and stagecraft for the commie media, not an actual event.

Maybe they think that's all Trump had to do was have a Twatter account.

Perhaps they also think Hillary's ground game didn't do her that much good in 2016.

We know they don't think much of the number of people attending Trump rallies.

Perhaps the only other things they thought they need are to

1. shut down conservative communications through social media and MSM,
2. Push CO-VID, economic shutdown, and we are all going to die!!

What they clearly haven't thought enough about

1. enough of their voters can't properly fill out a mail-in ballot

So, Don, I gotta ask a question - because I recently lost a friend over this. Are they completely unreasonable and non-sensical, or do you keep wedging opposing politics in at every opportunity because you value your ideology more than a friend or acquaintance?

Because in my case, it was definitely that latter option. We had a nice conversation but she kept bringing up commie bullshit, which I kept ignoring until she started asking me direct questions - then I started answering. It will likely be our last conversation.

So, Don, you need to seriously evaluate your own behavior, too. Do you constantly drive wedges and shove your people away from you? I suspect you probably do. But I don't know. Thankfully, you're not my friend.

In the places that have been full of unrest, of course there will be more - why would anything change? But everywhere else, I do not think there will actually be much organized violence, because they have no effective leadership. Some of them will go stand out on the street and scream, but after that they're more likely to swallow all the pills they have in their bathroom cabinets and pull the covers over their heads.

Lil Wayne famously said in an interview during the Obama years that he has "never experienced racism" and had his life saved by a white cop when he was a young kid.

He's HUGE, also. Like at one point I think he had the most number 1 hits on the billboard top 100 in the past 50 years or something (*highly disputed, since most of his "hits" are him being featured on other rappers tracks).

Anyways, not sure how much of an effect his endorsement will have, but it is a big deal.

The very first time I ran a voter file model in Wisconsin some five years ago, it was routinely D+something.

In 2016, it shifted to nearly even.

Now, the inference model is R+8 excluding only deceased and change of address flags surpassing any other R advantage we've found.

615 In the wee hours of the morning (like 3:00 a.m.) after Trump's win in 2016, my crazy prog sister called my husband. He was sound asleep and had to be up for an Actual Job as a business owner, unlike my lazy sister.

She was hysterical, sobbing, and started telling him, "All my muslim friends are freaking out that Trump will kick them out of the country!!!"

First of all, I've never heard of a single "muslim friend" of hers. So she was lying or exaggerating.

My husband had enough, told her to "calm down" and now she knew how we had felt for eight long, miserable years, but we didn't go into hysterics and had to slog through all the misery Barry inflicted on us.

She hung up on him.

At least if (God willing) Trump wins, I don't think she'll ever call here again looking for sympathy.
