The panel features Tony Stark being femmesplained about his Toxic Masculinity and White Privilege. He's being bitchsplained to by a D Minus level superhero called "Hellcat." She's literally a nobody, but her superpower is Spazzing Out Over Phantom Microaggressions. Tony Stark has saved the world dozens of times, always putting his own life on the line to do so. In fact -- and this is super-dumb, but whatever -- he was in fact killed by Femcel super "hero" Captain Marvel, when he opposed her fascist takeover of the country. (Something which Marvel portrayed as noble and righteous just because a Strong Empowered Wammen did it.) This is Marvel's idea of how a founding Avenger should be treated by a no-account nobody climbing bitch. Because this is Marvel's idea of how all men should be treated in real life. Well, all white men anyway. This is Marvel's final fuck-you to the white male audience that has almost entirely deserted it. Note that while the second, third, and fourth paragraph are altered to make a joke -- and a good one -- the first panel is 100% real.

Less seriously, I wish I could recall the short story from many years ago, where "Super Heros" actually started to realize that what they were doing was inadvertently fascist, and some of them started to quit doing it. It was some some nascent Libertarian viewpoint of being a superhero.
You see that a lot with the old Peter Parker, who was really reluctant to be a super hero as Spiderman. Who knows what bilge they are peddling now?

Since most games now are purchased digitally, instead of on physical media, a ban from Sony means the loss of one's entire library of movies or games, which might run into the thousands of dollars for the more avid collectors out there.
A friend of mine asked me, "Why worry about that? It's not like you say terrible things worthy of banning in voicechat," to which I replied "It might seem reasonable, but try this; Black Lives Matter does not give a damn about black people, and is nothing but a front organization for Marxists trying to incite Communist revolution in the US."

Even though we do not pay for Netflix, we started watching The Queen's Gambit. So far it is really good. Yes, girl chess player and all of that, but I'm not opposed to a woman lead - just don't shove it down my throat. This is actually pretty good, but I suspect it will suck by the end. We are only a few epi's in.

I think the argument can be made that by giving a character a male (but the ugly, non-heroic type) body, but with long hair and the name of a known female character, they are playing to the trans activists. It's not necessary to make them look like *ugly* men to "defeat the male gaze", so unless it's just that they're bad artists (a possibility) there must be some reason they are going above and beyond to make female characters hideous.

The key problem is that Marvel keeps hiring webcomic women to do comic books. And that's like hiring the guy who does Hagar the Horrible to do Thor. He writes about a viking right? and its popular!
Totally different format. Webcomic girls are 99% people sitting around talking and 1% something actually happening. Comic Books are contained stories, sometimes with ongoing continuing subplots, but you wrap up a story each issue because you have to assume every comic you sell is the first one a reader has picked up.

Some of the art is still jaw-dropping but a lot of it is, well its like this, and not great. Lots of blank backgrounds and minimal detail, difficulties with human anatomy, the inability to draw dramatic, heroic figures, etc.

There's nothing wrong with it but as with say when books get made to movies aren't you a little disappointed by the images the movie creates compared to the ones you held in your head and now have to work hard at retaining them if the movie ones are a disappointment or even outright angering?
This is why I don't like watching movies made from books. With a few exceptions as they were done very well and the person had many years of experience from others on how it should be perceived (LOTR comes to mind) and they did well.
The only comic I liked was MAD Magazine and there some of the jokes required visuals.
Frankly I'd like to see all the "woke" infotainment foci destroyed by financial failure as a lesson to the movie industry (who may be able to redeem their industry but I have my doubts).

I followed Ya Boi Zac for a while and went down some of the rabbit-holes and there the Wimmin in Comics were, with their grim smiles, making this claim that they could expand their sales by appealing more to demogrpahics that don't traditionally buy comics (i.e., girls) but in order to do that they inevitably had to make big changes to their content. Somehow, existing readers were supposed to acquire a taste for this new content that was downright medicinal. They laid it all out. "If you don't like it, you need to, and if you still don't like it, we don't want you associating with us."

I've always been a book reader first, but I'm also a visual person. Comics, when done right, satisfy a visual, artistic need. As do movies, but I am rarely a fan of movies made from books I've read. Sometimes, they're alright, but most of the time, they're really really wrong.
Also, visual entertainment has really gone into the trash dump lately. Reminds me that there are some books that need attention in my collection.

This started a long time ago. When I was in college, in the 1980's (shut up), lesbians all had the goal of hitting about 350 lbs to be certain no man would take another look. One of my roommates was a lesbian and she would invite her friends over regularly. A couple of them broke our couch.
Mostly, it was an excuse for them to eat their anxiety over their daddy issues, but you couldn't say that out loud. I doubt many of those I met are still alive after that sort of physical abuse.

I think part of this is demographic shift.
Black and hispanic people tend to be more overweight then white people.
Hispanic people tend to bring down the average height of the country.
So we're not exactly comparing apples to apples when we talk about 1988 American men and 2020 American men.
If I had to guess, white people have gotten slightly heavier on average, but also slightly taller on average, since 30+ years ago.

By the time The Search for Spock rolled around, Kirstie Alley was much more in demand, and initially agreed to a relatively small sum for her appearance in ST III. However, upon reviewing the script, she and her agent said that the role was much bigger than previously expected, and they wanted a much bigger payment for her; Nimoy stated in her book that he wasn't sure if she was aware of it, but Alley's agent was asking for more money than DeForest Kelley was being paid for his role as McCoy.
Nimoy said that they could not agree to the price on either budgetary or ethical grounds, and so they parted ways amicably.

Second, they hate heterosexuality/normal expressions of sexual desire, so they have to destroy them for others. smiles, making this claim that they could expand their sales by
appealing more to demogrpahics that don't traditionally buy comics
(i.e., girls) but in order to do that they inevitably had to make big
changes to their content. Somehow, existing readers were supposed to
acquire a taste for this new content that was downright medicinal. They
laid it all out. "If you don't like it, you need to, and if you still
don't like it, we don't want you associating with us."

Could be a good thing, all things considered. Allow for some fresh, original thinking, and new ideas and characters.
One of the virtues of manga (aside from certain series that shall not be named) is that they come to a conclusion. The characters' stories are resolved, they have their endings, and, for the series that I was fond of, anyhow, you were left wanting more, LOTS more, and the stories and characters remained memorable and fresh to you in the years to come.
Western comics seem incapable of doing such a thing. o.O

'Stargirl on the C W network was 13 episodes and it was great. Well written, great effects and fight scenes and a big robot. Not woke at all.
And NO GAY CHARACTERS!!!
The star is 20 years old, really cute and passed for 15 easily. She's also going to hear guys say "I've got your cosmic staff right here," until her looks go.

About the only escape these days in my house are in video games. I've
been playing Star Wars Squadrons which I actually like quite a bit....no
stupid Force user crap, just Wing Commander-style space fighting.
And blowing up a Star Destroyer is kind of fun.
Went to get an Oculus Rift S to complete the experience until I

Gaming is going down the shit path at an alarming rate. This generation of consoles has turned into the "TV and Hollywood" version of gaming, with no new ideas, just remakes and remasters of older stuff. Let's see, what have I played recently: Bioshock Collection, Halo Master Chief Collection, Resident Evil remake, Final Fantasy VII remake, etc. All good, but all things I'd played before on previous consoles. The only good new content I've seen in the last several years was RDR 2, and the amazing Horizon Zero Dawn. All the other "new" games seem to be low-budget artsy-fartsy fapfests or same-as-it-ever-was sequels. In retrospect, if it weren't for those two games, I could have stayed with a 360 and a PS3 and never known the difference.

I haven't played HZD yet, but I really got into Death Stranding, which runs on an upgraded version of HZD's engine. It's absolutely not for everyone though.

I stand duly corrected, and, rather than being amazed anymore, I shall simply laugh at the stupidity, and hope that their fans find something more fun elsewhere.
Could be a good thing, all things considered. Allow for some fresh, original thinking, and new ideas and characters.
One of the virtues of manga (aside from certain series that shall not be named) is that they come to a conclusion. The characters' stories are resolved, they have their endings, and, for the series that I was fond of, anyhow, you were left wanting more, LOTS more, and the stories and characters remained memorable and fresh to you in the years to come.
Western comics seem incapable of doing such a thing. o.O

Not show up and let the citizenry defend themselves to their fullest abilities. As the situation currently sits - the looters are protected and the citizenry is still constrained by the mere presence of the police. Completely remove the police - and the citizenry has a chance. Right now, the citizenry doesn't.
The police are still acting as a tool of the mayor - who is putting his thumb on the scale in favor of the mob. Remove the thumb from the scale.

I get why, cults are a bitch, and employees don't give a fuck, but the one making, you know, the actual money would be expected to object.
My guess is that they are owned by Disney and are too small a piece of the pie for anybody in upper management to give a fuck about but I'm not sure that makes any sense.
Disney is betting big on streaming and the MCU universe is the crown jewel of their modern IP and they are planning on making miniseries out individual characters, what the fuck are they thinking.

I think that's at the heart of it. Comic books sell very little these days, so their potential profit is a marginal note to Disney. As long as the movies make money, who cares about the profit or loss of comics? A big seller these days is like 20,000 copies.
Now I'm not one to mock that, I'm lucky to sell 50 copies of all my work combined in a month. But for comic books... that was something that would have been canceled in the 80s for poor sales.

I recently saw that DC had made a sequel to "Watchmen".
And was 99.999999% sure that it would suck diseased donkey balls.
But, it had pretty good reviews and there was that 0.000001% chance that it might only suck honeysuckle perfumed donkey balls,
so I went ahead and got it on Kindle.
I shoulda played the odds.
It sucked.
The DC comic world is simply broken. Even when they want to make something good. Even when they want to cater to their fans.
They still can't come up with a decent story. And still can't help but infuse it with extraneous SJW-retconning of the original story.
The very last panel of the comic shows you what they wanted and hoped their story would be,
and it's not a bad idea. It's actually hopeful.
But, they just couldn't give us the writing or the story to get to that end frame they wanted so badly,
to hold the meaning and feeling they ultimately wanted.
Sad.

So thats one thing I liked about the movie MCU. Very few are keeping secret identities. No more of those dumb masks. We have had to wear them now for the last six months. Can you see a superhero wearing them? No.

I still have a few lying around here. The most well regarded is the World Almanac and Book of Facts that I got via the book order and since I got that edition, I have gotten one a year since.
