The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

I am sick and tired of our current crop of politicians who obfuscate and triangulate and manipulate and bullshit and behave in all respects like psychopathic liars, because that's what they are.

And even worse, they exude the slime in which they have been immersed for their entire political careers...the evil, primordial ooze of inside-the-beltway and inside-the-state-houses. They have on them the stench of power brokers and lobbyists and corporate pay-offs and dirty backroom deals and all of the things we despise about government.

President Trump is different. And not just a little bit different. Constitutionally different. he does not have the sleaze gene that seems to be required for success in American government.

Is he a braggart? Sure! Just ask your fisherman friend how big his last catch was and you'll get the same sort of behavior. But the President has tremendous domestic and foreign policy successes about which to brag. So I happily forgive him his hyperbole.

Does he sometimes paint a rosy picture of the future? Yup! It's called optimism. Bubbling, gleeful, happy optimism, and I absolutely love it! I want my president to be an unabashed cheerleader for America, Americans, and American Exceptionalism, and Donald Trump is exactly that.

One thing he doesn't do is lie. And unlike his predecessor, whose lies were carefully covered up by a compliant and fawning media, president Trump's every utterance is fact-checked and pored over and deconstructed and parsed for the slightest flaws.

He has comported himself well in spite of this constant barrage from the barking leftists at MSNBC and the WaPo and the execrable NYT.

He has not lost his sense of humor and his love for America, and that says a lot about his psychological fortitude and outlook.

Trump Still Wins the Personality Contest

Put aside all his outstanding policy accomplishments, both foreign and domestic, we actually love his personality. We love his humor. This will shock the sophistos. I mean, it is the height of sophistication to say, “Trump may have done good things policy-wise but—tut-tut—you have to look past his personality. Have you seen those tweets?”

We thought it was hilarious when he invited the Russians to “find” Hillary’s 30,000 emails. We laughed out loud when he said, “Maybe I will run for a third term.” Or when he looked skyward and suggested he was the “chosen one” to deal with China.

When he talks to 20,000 people, he holds them in the palm of his hand largely through humor—humor that his opponents almost certainly get, but they use against him nonetheless by pretending he was serious. Lesley Stahl did this schtick on the 60 Minutes interview when she asked him about begging suburban women to love him. Lesley, he was doing a bit.

So who would you rather invite into your home and sit down at the dinner table with? President Trump, his lovely and stunningly elegant wife and his young son (who seems to be rather normal), or his predecessor, with his haughty arrogance and his cold and nasty wife?

Who would be more fun? Who would thank you for the meal? Who would bring a nice gift for his host?

I can't think of another politician I would rather have in my home. I will even forgive the president for being a teetotaler!

"I won't promise a chicken in every pot . . . that's been done. I'm Trump. I go big! We go big! I promise you a vaccine in every arm . . . and a grand in every hand!"

And because Trump himself has a sense of humor about things, it's not offensive in the least. He'd probably be the first to laugh at these spots and say, "That guy sounds more like me than I do. I'd better not let him near Melania!"

44 CBD, I firmly believe that a full 75% of the Senate deals in the same sort of influence corruption that the Biden family deals in. Republican and Democrat alike, I would be willing to bet that there are a ton of siblings, children, and cousins who are on the boards of various international companies and "nonprofits" who have zero qualifications for their job. Hence, why there isn't a serious Senate inquiry into this?

There's no way a Senator wants to stir up mud even against someone from the other party, if the investigated party can turn around and expose the whole committee.

I think PDJT is often hilarious. As said, he knows how to play a crowd. Yesterday's riffs in Bullhead City, AZ, regarding the poor quality of the microphones and the moving teleprompters from the wind, was a case in point. "Don't pay those people!", he said, but there was definitely a sense of fun behind the remarks.

When Joe blamed the Republicans in Congress for he and Barack not getting a sentence-reducing legislation passed, and just before PDJT said, "Well, you gotta talk to them, Joe", the look on his face as he gave an askance glance in Joe's direction was priceless. "I can't believe that you confessed to being helpless, you putz," had to be going through his head.

Finally, Trump Tower Taco Bowls and "I love Hispanics!" Talk about smacking around the other side, but doing so joyfully!

He's always looking to make the sale and he's got to promote everything he does as the best you'll ever see. It's just part of who he is and the business he was in. "It's going to be the best ever. Exactly, which is why Black Pigeon just did a video (which I don't fully agree with) that K Street runs the country, not us.

That I agree with, but I don't agree that nothing changes no matter who is in office. The stuff that affects us the most changes. I'll throw out wars and the economy as just 2.

If Hillary was elected, we'd all be hurting like it was 1934. And who knows what the NORK's or China would have done by now.

Which makes the whole Ted Cruz/@jack Kabuki even more depressing. These companies are literally daring us to do something, they were out of control 4 years ago. Now it's comic. I'm with J.J., I think at best Trump is going to be a speedbump for another 4 years, at which point all bets are off.

So it is somewhat different, but yes the purpose of a stop is to rally the troops for both Trump and Biden.

It's not just Trump himself; it's his support. Watch Ricky Rebel prancing around in a red-white-and-blue outfit singing M-A-G-A in Beverly Hills with flag-wavers jumping in to dance along. Contrast that with the statue-destruction, the night-time crimes, excuses for looting, the dourness, the warnings, the endless accusations of racism, the denunciation of our history and our society, the scolds of the left.

Which side would you rather hang with?

202 Just got back from the local John Cornyn rally; about 200 people, he spoke from the top of the party bus he's driving around Texas in, it has a little built in platform.

the good - he gave a good stump speech, long on confirming Amy Coney Barrett, he poked fun at Beto. Louie Gohmert was there and gave a decent followup speech. There were about 200 people there, and I noted that when he asked "how many of you have voted already?" at least 90% of the crowd raised their hands.

the disapointing, and I won't dwell on it, but everything about how this was set up reminds of our long running discussion about why 2nd and 3rd tier entertainers are better at campaigning than almost any 1st tier politicians. (except Trump) Start with this - I found out about this from a friend, 10 minutes before it started. She found out in a text 15 minutes prior. We got there and someone we know said "well I found out about it late last night." So we figured it had to be a last minute addition. But that one woman says "no, it was announced last week in Country Living magazine!!!"

I felt like quoting Dr. Strangelove right then and there: "Of course, the whole point of a (Campaign Rally) is lost, if you *keep* it a *secret*! Why didn't you tell the world, eh?"

208 Well this explains the "surging" numbers of covid hospitalizations on the Texas border areas.

Seems the State of Texas is importing patients from Mexican hospitals and bringing them to the US because Mexican hospitals suck and sick people are coming to the US to get treated.

Emergency personnel are getting called to do pickups at the bridges of sometimes 10-15 covid infected people a day who they then transport to the hospitals.

225 I saw an interview with Rove. He was absolutely
perplexed how some suburban women were voting against there own self
interest. His short version was "you dont like his Tweets, so you will
vote to destroy your families lives and security? Here's an idea- don't
read his Tweets and look at what he's done for your family, and the
destruction Biden has in store."

He was absolutely flabbergasted.

Some of these people are just not very smart. They think they are. But they are not.

Unfortunately, part of it is the belief that the protests, riots, etc will end the second Biden gets elected and everything will go back to "normal", when in reality the professional protestors/Antifa types will take it as being given carte blanche to do whatever they want since federal law enforcement will no longer do anything to stop it. Oh, and Covid, gotta get Covid under control.

Also, they really don't know what Biden is actually campaigning on, like raising taxes, for example.

230 It's interesting to look back at the Presidential campaign results through the years.

Everything from massive Electoral Vote blowouts by Nixon and Reagan to plurality wins by Nixon and Clinton to EV wins while losing popular vote by Bush II and Trump.

Must have been quite exciting to be a Republican from 1972 through 1988, with 4 blowout victories. Even with Vietnam and Watergate, the country massively supported Republicans.

Of course, part of that could be because McGovern, Carter, Mondale and Dukakis were such poor candidates.

Joe Biden is really right up there with those bad candidates too. I wonder if we'll see a landslide like '72, '80, '84 and '88.

- 1968 -- GOP 301-191-46 (-9.4 million) (-12.8%)*
- 1972 -- GOP 520-17 (+18.0 million) (+23.2%)

- 1976 -- DEM 297-240 (+1.7 million) (+2.1%)

- 1980 -- GOP 489-49 (+2.7 million) (+3.1%)*
- 1984 -- GOP 525-13 (+16.9 million) (+18.2%)
- 1988 -- GOP 426-111 (+7.0 million) (+7.8%)

- 1992 -- DEM 370-168 (-13.9 million) (-13.3%)*
- 1996 -- DEM 379-159 (+119,000) (+0.1%)*

- 2000 -- GOP 271-266 (-500,000) (-0.5%)
- 2004 -- GOP 286-251 (+3.0 million) (+2.5%)

- 2008 -- DEM 365-173 (+9.5 million) (+7.2%)
- 2012 -- DEM 332-206 (+5.0 million) (+3.9%)

- 2016 -- GOP 304-227 (-2.8 million) (-2.1%)

Search: How Do I Change My Vote?

Of course, google is suppressing this.

Using goolag, if you type in "How Do I Change My Vo..." You'll get "voicemail". You have to type the whole thing in, it refuses all the way up to the E in vote.

If you go to DuckDuckGo, type in "How D..." and the second auto fill is correct. If you type in "How Do" you'll get it as the top search result.

And senators sit on their thumbs fat wallets.

Yes. The distinction is very clear, and actually codified legally in advertising law. The word is "Puffery" and puffery is *not* a lie. I always use an example for this. Assume you are bringing a new toothbrush to the market and want to drive sales without getting a bunch of endorsements, etc. for your no-name product.

Puffery: Use the brand-new Magic Brush and your teeth will be so clean your mouth will love you for the rest of your life!

Lie: The brand-new Magic Brush is recommended by nine out of ten dentists nationwide.

Trump does a lot of puffery. He doesn't do a lot of lying.

For those comfortable in their own skins DJT is a personable, highly-intelligent, entertaining (if somewhat bombastic and narcissistic guy). But his heart's in the right place, and he's a very decent human being, who also displays all the traits of someone who gives an unusually fair shake to individuals on their own merits without putting them into categories of "class" or race.

He has also demonstrated himself to be a hell of a patriot with an unbelievable willingness to work and fight for the good of our country.

But if you're a frustrated person, envious of ability and success and looking for people to blame for your own inadequacies, then you may just hate the hell out of him.

And need to be reminded why there have been zero consequences for these domestic terrorists: George Soros-paid Attorneys General in all the local cities. And mostly Black Democrats in charge of everything within these cities, from Mayor to Police Chief.

Some people apparently have a difficult time remembering what "normal" was under Obama-Biden. Black-Lives-Matter and antifa are Democrat domestic terrorist groups. They aren't going away with a Democrat in the White House, they will be unleashed even more to keep people in line.

What I love about this guy is he's demonstrated just how useless every politician since WWII has been. No wonder they all hate him. All the theatrics have gone out the window.

Trump is signing deals in the mid east we've been told for decades is impossible. He's bringing mortal enemies together. He's gotten the NORK's to behave. We haven't had an islamic terrorist event for some time. And his biggest failing was supposed to be foreign policy?

For some reason, getting respect through direct dealings rather than sending palettes full of cash and begging them not to hurt us is working. SCOAMF, the greatest peace maker of all time, really is an empty suit. Watching his "legacy" being erased is awesome.

Posted by: clutch cargo at October 29, 2020 11:49 AM (8B6Ng)

330 One thing I notice about Trump is how gracious and classy he is. He is very careful to treat people well when he interacts with them. And it's obvious that he loves America and Americans.

I interpret his harsh comments as coming from his feelings of protectiveness for America and Americans. Leftists, for instance, despise observant Christians like me. Trump slaps them down when they try to mistreat Christians. He stands up for everyone the Leftists try to bully. It's so refreshing!

Different things work for different people; for me, drinking a lot of Mucinex DM works for the lungs, Sudafed at two to three times the recommended dose works for the head. (they say never take more than 2 every 8 hours, if you're sick take 4 every 4 hours) And advil or aspirin as needed. Don't bother with tylenol, it's worthless. You're supposed to use the right phrases and wear hip glasses and have a certain hairstyle and wear certain clothes to be sucesful. He's a brash asshole who wears old school suits and says what's on his mind. And still made it.

The game and the rules are rigged in their favor.
And the GOP was happy to play along.
Because it kept _us_ out too.

And Trump came along and said, "fuck all that!"

It's like being told you can only build a house with wooden hammers.
The Dems and the GOP are dutifully pounding away at the job site with large wood mallets.

And Trump shows up with a pneumatic nailer, fires the GOP and finishes the whole job before the Dems get back from lunch...

And takes all their paychecks

That's why they hate him

This is a very interesting observation. Combined with the article that CBD references that shows that Trump is a comedian jibes with a story that was told to me back in L.A.

I had a client whose father went to Wharton with Trump. He said that on weekends, when other students would be hanging out around Philly, Trump would take the train back to NYC and go to...Broadway, to catch the shows.

He would hang out backstage, and spent a lot of time around the theater set. This classmate was very surprised about that, knowing that Trump went to a military school growing up. That story did emphasize the creative side of Trump, however, which rarely comes out.

Indeed, our last preznit lived entirely in a theoretical world. He's such a braniac, they'd just sit and theorize if/then scenarios.

Not once in their pathetic lives have they actually had to perform, with actual expected results within a given time frame.

Trump didn't get where he was by thinking about it. He's accomplished more in his lifetime already than everybody in the house senate combined (granted, with a few exceptions).

They're not used to that. And it's why I've wanted somebody from the private sector for decades. It's why I voted for Perot TBH. And it's really what our forefathers envisioned. Somebody decides they can help, they get in, do a job for 4, 8, 12 years and then go home and say "that was interesting! What's for dinner?"

The fact somebody like Biden has been in DC for almost half a century, with very little to show for it (other than help author laws lefties would hate if they knew about them) blows my mind. And people think he's going to change things? Dear Heebus.

That's a good point.

So, how is Trump doing in comparison to polling of the black community in 2016?

I've made a similar comparison for the third party vote, referring back to both the actual vote total and the projected vote total from polling.

Of course Jorgenson is running ahead of how Johnson performed in 2016, but she's actually running pretty far behind where he was polling.

413 I see people wondering about Jill Biden - you should watch more film noir, or some things about the ruling Italian families in the renaissance. Families that crave Power and Status are *always* filled with men AND women who will gladly slit the throats of their brothers, sisters, husbands, or wives if they think it will give them a bit of personal advantage. That's who these people *are*, that's who they always have been. And if they will do that to their closest family members, just think of what they'll do to you if you get in their way!

430 I see people wondering about Jill Biden - you should
watch more film noir, or some things about the ruling Italian families
in the renaissance. Families that crave Power and Status are *always*
filled with men AND women who will gladly slit the throats of their
brothers, sisters, husbands, or wives if they think it will give them a
bit of personal advantage. That's who these people *are*, that's who
they always have been. And if they will do that to their closest
family members, just think of what they'll do to you if you get in their
way!

Trump has worked with people from every social strata, and wouldn't have as many people that have worked for him for decades if he didn't get it. People bitch that he got $1M from his dad to get started.

But, $1M won't get you very far buying real estate, even in the 70's in NY. He's worked his ass off, and that's his drug. If you gave Hunter $10M today? It'd be gone in a month on hookers and blow.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, levelling Metropolis to save it
-----------
Interesting sub question there. Every cycle there is a surge of Black vote that says they will vote GOP, but then the polling number drops off about a week before the election. They threaten, but come home at the end.

Baris is not seeing that drop off, especially in PA. They look like they really are going to vote for Trump.

PA the black vote is looking to be 18% overall for Trump, and Trump is seeing 24% of the overall vote in Philly proper.

I'll have to go back and see what Baris is getting in Michigan for the black vote.

I guarantee you that these numbers are huge compared to 2016.

485 I think some of the distaste for Trump is very real here in the Midwest and some is feigned. "Being nice" is valued. We go for boring pols here, like Scott Walker. Evers is able to disguise his commie beliefs because he has a mild manner and looks like a twerp. I don't think Cuomo's manner would be generally appreciated here either. The one person i know who really loves Trump - she's been to every rally he's had in this area - was NYPD for 25 years before she retired and came back here to take care of her mom. Personality-wise, she's really a transplanted New Yawker and seems out of place in her semi-rural town, although that's where she grew up.

But I think some of it is feigned among professional types who are Trump voters. They like his policies but feel the need to distance themselves from rowdy blue collars.

Like I said, who cares? Just vote for him!

487 Interesting sub question there. Every cycle there is a surge of Black vote that says they will vote GOP, but then the polling number drops off about a week before the election. They threaten, but come home at the end."

If Trump has a 40 percent or so approval rating with blacks and gets half that the Dems will still be toast.

Ironically, I think his style appeals much more to blacks than it does to middle class whites worried about "civility."

488 Just an observation this morning: How cold and callous does Dr. Jill Biden have to be to hold her husband up and continue to campaign him even as his Sundowning and Dementia continues to manifest itself?

The symptoms are so blatant it's not like she could miss them or she doesn't know exactly what's happening.

490 447 Trying to convince people who like his policies but not him is like trying to convince people who don't like "Monty Python" that "Monty Python" is funny. "But you have to watch the Dead Parrot Sketch! It's hilarious!" Well, no, not to them it isn't. (Substitute any comedian or funny movie that you like.)

People who don't like Trump's style and tweets now are not going to start liking them. I'm used to them, but I'm not enthralled by his style either.

Author James Lindsay voted for Trump and it was a hold-your-nose sort of thing. He can't stand Trump but he hates wokeness even more. Good for him.

On Monty Python - I always loved Holy Grail, but originally I was really disappointed by the ending, which is totally anticlimactic and just runs out. (supposedly they really did run out of money) I never thought that ending was funny until I talked my dad into watching it with me once (I was still in college). He didn't like it much, but when I saw how much that ending Pissed Him Off (because he wanted a battle) I suddenly realized how freaking hilarious it was! but hard to take. It was the Pythons saying "hey you really thought this was a serious movie?" and then flipping off the audience and saying "THE END."

of course not everyone is gonna appreciate that level of humor. Certainly not my dad.

When it became obvious that they were running out of cash to finish the film (& they were also having a torrid time filming because of weather delays and personal disagreement ls) they agreed they would finish with a literal cop out.

Agreed. A well-done steak is too firm and tight for the ketchup to penetrate it properly.

494 One thing he [President Trump] doesn't do is lie. And unlike his predecessor, whose lies were carefully covered up by a compliant and fawning media, president Trump's every utterance is fact-checked and pored over and deconstructed and parsed for the slightest flaws.

----

This is one of my main points when fighting with the Marxist Socialist Bastards when they start trashing The President. He speaks exactly like a normal person, some exaggeration, a little imprecise with the facts, but generally and often precisely he tells a coherent narrative that everyone understands.

Well, unless they are willfully misunderstanding his words which is what the rotten media has done every day of his presidency and the ran around shrieking.

He is an honest man when and where it matters. And if you can't handle that truth go fuck yourself.

495 Willowed and all, but gotta be said...

"Who would be more fun?"

0bama would be more fun. At least if his SS weren't about. And depending on how long until someone missed him and her, and whether that was long enough for the grass to grow back.
