Trump Releases Full, Unedited Interview With 60 Minutes' Lefty Leslie Stahl;
CBS Whines About It

Kira Davis:

Stahl would ask a question, Trump would answer it ("I have encouraged people to wear masks and I say it all the time") and then Stahl would tell Trump it isn't true and Trump would answer again and Stahl would repeat the question. This became quite amusing towards the end when Trump complained that Stahl and her media colleagues refuse to ask Joe Biden tough questions about the current scandal involving Hunter Biden, Ukraine, Russia and China, which Stahl continually dismissed as "unverifiable" and unimportant.

Trump: It;s incredibly important. Whether or not a man running for office is corrupt. If he's taken money from China and Ukraine and Russia. It's incredibly important. It’s the biggest scandal out there, Leslie. I think it’s one of the biggest scandals we've ever seen and you won’t cover….He's gone into hiding. For 5 days he's been in hiding.

LS:He’s preparing for your debate… Why are you *coming after me* about not going after Biden? You’ve asked me 5, 7 times?

She went to ask him the same questions over and over again without a hint of irony.

On questions about Obamacare to COVID response to campaign tactics, Trump continually brought the conversation back around to the corruption of the media. At one point Stahl asked why he seems so defensive all the time.

Trump: When people put out phony witch hunts, when they spy on your campaign you have to fight back and if you don't fight back you go home, you go back home to mommy.

LS: It's attack attack attack

Trump: It's not attacks. It;s defense against attacks.

LS: You're very defensive.

It’s interesting that Stahl expressed fatigue at being asked the same questions over and over again and then accuses Trump of being defensive when he tires of the same questions over and over again.

Regarding Stahl's claim that they can't put "unverified" information on the air: 60 Minutes put on the fake Texas Air National Guard documents on the air, and has never admitted they were fake. (They will only concede they were insufficiently verified.)

Also, it should be noted that Leslie Stahl isn't just claiming that 60 Minutes and CBS can't report on the Joe Biden Bribery Scandal -- she's also claiming that it's "unverified" that Obama phonied up a pretext to spy on Trump's campaign.

CBS is crying about Trump releasing the unedited video, without giving them a chance to deceptively edit it:

It was also a lie that Trump "walked out" of the interview.

Full interview here:

Leslie Stahl -- who is in a political coalition with antifa and BLM paramilitaries and killers -- demanded that Trump denounce his supporters.

Trump refused:

9 When I was doing "spokesman" work in the 1990s the absolute least professional interview I had was an inaccurate, poorly sourced hit piece from Time Magazine (back when Time was still sort of a thing). It was obvious from the start they didn't want to hear my side, just get a quote to splice in to show "balance."

I've seen enough of these "here's the medias version, and here's the full version" to realize that, holy shit, with the magic of editing, you can make an interview look any fucking way you want to.

Ask the same question 5 times, and splice the answers together. Insert footage of "awkward pauses" that were filmed as b-roll before the interview even started. Insert one answer was in answer to a different question and insinuate that the person being interviewed was being evasive, etc.

It's so dishonest that it's ... I don't even know how to describe it. It's maddening.

Presumably, 60 Minutes made an exception by allowing Trump's people to record their own video, under the stipulation that Trump wouldn't release the entirety for political reasons. I'm guessing there was an "internal use only" or "max (5) 30 second clips" sorta clause.

Also worth remembering that the Killian documents controversy back in 2004 actually aired on the "new" 60 Minutes II which had been on air since early 1999.

Main anchors were: Dan Rather, Bob Simon, Charlie Rose, Vicki Mabrey, Scott Pelley and Lara Logan.

They specifically shunted the story onto II, just in case it blew up, so it wouldn't damage the "main" 60 Minutes brand.

Show was canceled in September 2005 after spending the last two months of its life in the Friday night death time slot.

I agree - if I were to guess what CBS had planned, it would be that they would have aired a grossly edited and inflammatory version Sunday night, and every MSM outlet would have run a full story on it the next morning, having been tipped off. And they figured Trump would only strike back AFTER that, after the negative stories were already out there and had done their damage.

Now they can still do their edit, but they know it's going to be viewed side by side with their version. I think they're going to end up putting out something boring with no real impact; that's the corner they're backed into.

I disagree. If 60 Minutes airs it first, the media shoots off their hot takes--"Trump said this", "Trump lies about that", "Trump refuses to answer question"--and those are the headlines low infos read and come to believe.

Trump releasing the unedited version afterward would only be playing catchup. Most people would already believe the lies and not get around to seeing media retractions. No one read or heard about the Ukraine phone call transcript, and the media claimed it was edited.

At least here, they can't claim it was edited, and though they will deceptively edit their piece, they know they have to rein in what they do with this video out there.

The average person now believes that Trump "stormed out of the interview", because that was the story the media decided on earlier in the week. The tape has shown this to be a lie, yet few will ever know that.

Imagine the stories they would make up about the edited version CBS broadcast had he not put out the unedited version now.

They scored a win by putting out the "stormed out of interview" lie in advance, but he ultimately neutered what they fully intended to do.

This was Bush's (or Rove's) error. You HAVE to respond to every little dig and lie or they'll overwhelm you and then your stuck with the lie.

As it is there are many honest non partisan people out there who don't take the time or have the time to research what the truth is and believe everything put out by the media because they can't believe that so many different companies and people would coordinate what they're saying so some of it MUST be true. 393 I was posting at LGF at the time. All that Chucky Boy actually did was recognize some brilliant work some more anonymous poster had done - making a .gif with the two fonts overlaid - and he publicized it and gave it net wide coverage, as it went viral. Then he took credit for doing it, even though everyone there at the time knew he didn't. It was for a good cause and no one had yet realized what a fuckwad he was about to turn into, so he didn't get called on it.

To me, that was the most interesting part.

Now, I know what a V is, but the average person isn't going to get that unless it's explained in context, and it rarely is.

-------------

Wait, you are saying the average person won't get the economy is going great?

For those wanting Trump to talk about his accomplishmnents, he spent the first 5 minutes doing just that. Record stock market, record unemployment numbers, etc. Now those aren't the be all end all, but that has been what the media has used for 50 years to describe the economy. And he has the best numbers in that regard, so use it. But ultimately, people know what they have at home. If your wage is going up, you are doing well, you will think it is a good economy, but you couple it with numbers that match your personal observation, you will definitely believe it.

People know what a V-shape recovery is. Trump's message is just fine.

What can 60 minutes do, now? They MUST take a neutral stance. They must be fair and objective. If they don't, anyone can refer back to the raw footage.

If they are not perfectly fair in their editing, THEY become the story.

Years ago a company did an interview with 60 Minutes (the reporter was Mike Wallace). They made their own recording of the interview. The deceptively edited 60 Minutes hatchet job was duly aired. The company had an arrangement for a PBS station to put on the unedited footage. The PBS station cancelled the broadcast at the last minute without explanation. Apparently somebody had a word with them. The full interview was never shown to the public -- in those days it was either broadcast it on TV or else almost nobody would ever know.

Trump is not only protecting himself with this release, he's getting back at these bastards on behalf of everyone else they've ever tried to screw.

623 Hi Nurse, if you don't watch the debate you can hang around here and get the highlights and know that people across this great country are cheering on our President.
I'm not going to say I love PDT but! if only he would! He better bring up Hunter! yadda yadda.
PDT has done just fine for 4 years, he will do just fine for a couple of hours tonight.

624 The difference between President Trump and the GOPe?

President Trump never accepts the premise upon which hostile questions are based.

He knows how to throw it back at the questioner.

Meanwhile, the GOPe always answers questions that are nothing more than a variation on, "When did you stop beating your wife?"

629 Romney would have thrown republican voters under the buss so fast if asked the same question.

Remember how Jonah Goldberg got so upset by the all the overt displays of patriotism.
