The billionaire financier Leon Black, one of Wall Street's most powerful executives, was facing questions from clients after Jeffrey Epstein was arrested last year on federal sex trafficking charges. The two men had known each other for decades, and investors of Mr. Black’s investment company, Apollo Global Management, wanted to know how close they had been. Such questions were valid, Mr. Black said, according to a transcript of a call with analysts in July 2019. He said in a letter that same day to investors that he had had a 'limited relationship" with Mr. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and had consulted him "from time to time" on personal financial matters. But their connection was deeper than Mr. Black let on: The two men often socialized and dined together, and Mr. Black was a lucrative client for Mr. Epstein over the final decade of his life.So, what "services" did known convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein provide to billionaire Leon Black for $50 to $75 million over six years...? Prepare for a bunch of deliberately vague verbal fog -- thick smoke laid down to obscure what's really going on.
Mr. Black wired Mr. Epstein at least $50 million in the years after Mr. Epstein's 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a teenage girl, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times and interviews with four people with knowledge of the transactions. The transfers included $10 million to a foundation started by Mr. Epstein and consulting fees that were sufficiently unusual to draw scrutiny from Deutsche Bank, where Mr. Epstein kept his accounts. Two of the people said the total amount sent by Mr. Black to Mr. Epstein could be as high as $75 million. It was not clear what kind of services Mr. Epstein provided to Mr. Black, whose $9 billion fortune can buy him access to the best lawyers and accountants in the world. Mr. Epstein, though he styled himself as a "financial doctor" to wealthy clients, was a college dropout who had worked on Wall Street for just a few years, demonstrated no great skill as an investor and had no formal training in tax and estate planning.
"Mr. Black received personal trusts and estates planning advice as well as family office philanthropy and investment services from several financial and legal advisers, including Mr. Epstein, during a six-year period, between 2012 and 2017," said Stephanie Pillersdorf, a spokeswoman for Mr. Black. "The trusts and estate planning advice was vetted by leading auditors and law firms."Black is a 9 billion dollar tycoon with his own legal team permanently on staff and of course any lawyer in the world would jump to work for him. But instead, Black paid convicted pedophile Epstein-- post his pedophilia conviction, mind you-- $50 to $75 million for vague "advice." Does anyone believe this? Here is what appears to be a disguised payment from Black to Epstein -- specifically, to the company that managed Epstein's famous Pedo Express jet.
Some of the payments from Mr. Black are described in an internal report by Deutsche Bank, which served as Mr. Epstein's primary banker from 2013 into 2019. The report was provided to regulators who fined the German bank over the summer for its failure to catch numerous red flags in Mr. Epstein's financial activities. Portions of the report reviewed by The Times describe a payment of $22.5 million in 2017 by a company called BV70 LLC, which the bank said owned Mr. Black's yacht, to Plan D, the company that managed Mr. Epstein's Gulfstream jet. When an employee in Deutsche Bank’s anti-financial-crime division inquired about the payment, she was told by another bank employee that it was a fee for consulting services provided by Southern Trust Company, one of the dozens of entities Mr. Epstein operated in the Virgin Islands. There was no explanation for why the payment went to Plan D.Oooh, oooh! I have an explanation!

It's actually a lot harder than it sounds. Without a powerful and well funded core, you are very vulnerable the second the wrong billionaire decides to destroy you. But building that core would mean the end of any state or corporation that tried to be the sole sponsor. And if you bring in anyone less than 100% trustworthy, it all comes apart.
The surprising thing is not that it worked, but that Donald Trump has made as much headway in dismantling it. I know President Trump is, if anything, a more determined leader than RR in fighting for us. On that happy note, I'm off to complete training so that I can work as a poll official on election day. It's not much, but it's what I can do to do my part in these times. And be cheerful about it, as RR and DJT have demonstrated to us.

If I was writing it as a story, I'd have the guy being squeezed by the FBI to sell arms to bad guys so they can track down the sales and where the guns go Fast & Furious style. And the guy so demoralized and horrified that he's trapped in this doing godawful things, that he snaps and decides the only way he can get out of this is to die.
But he wants the whole world to know about what is going on, and knows the system will hide what he's doing. So he just starts shooting at a crowd of annoying people below him that won't shut up (a concert) so the entire world sees what is happening.
FBI Agent Stuard Grimes has to find a way to cover this up even though its one of the world's most infamous mass shootings and cameras are everywhere.

First multi day migraine I've had in years and my left eye is still a bit wonky but much better now.
I have a new, and hilarious, tale of woe. I have a portable dishwasher I've had for years and adore. It's a Kenmore and is over a decade old and cleans like the good old dishwashers. It's also full size. My apartment has a built in dishwasher which is actually fine but it's apartment size. So I do use both and the portable is great for loading up all the Instant Pot stuff to clean.
Last week I got new counters and a brand new kitchen faucet. The kitchen faucet is one of the schmancy pants ones that has the integrated pull out spray. I loved it right up to the second that I realized that I now have no way to use the portable dishwasher since there's no adapter to hook it to the sink.
WOE! WOE IS ME! HAVING ONLY ONE DISHWASHER LIKE A PLEBE!
*takes to fainting couch*
I'm sure I could figure out the adapters needed to use it in the bathroom sink but a. I don't think that sink would drain fast enough and II. seriously, I don't need two dishwashers.
But still. *mopes about*

I can't speak to the particular outfit in my locale, but I can say:
1 - There are similar units more than likely operating in your area.
2 - At the level just above that, there are a ton of advocacy groups doing much needed and amazing work on the victim side of things. (Which is where I donate my $ to) In fact, it was at one of those fundraisers that I met the door into the smaller action oriented group. (See if there's a local CCAHT org in your area. just google)
3 - The fundraising for the action group is also quiet, off the books, and rolodex built for opsec. Has to be face to face/history/relationship/trust based for obvious reasons. It'll work the same in your area in fact. For example, I'll never meet or even know who the front line guys are here. It sounds all shadowy and super secret and stuff, but it's really just practical precaution due to what all they're up against. (The people engaged in this market are known to be a bit 'anti-social' apparently.)
4 - Definitely help however you can, but also - take heart. There are some really good and serious people all around the country that at some point in the last decade, have gotten really serious about burning this out root and branch. I've been really encouraged by it.
