Why does Joe Biden think Polish people are stupid? [KT]

polandflagg.jpg

Poland understands this better than Biden does

David Foster posted an interesting piece yesterday relating to the Party of Identity Politics:

In an interview which has received surprisingly little attention, Joe Biden talked about the Democratic Party's political strategy:
Well, look what's happened. Look what started to seep in, beginning and probably even with candidates during our administration. We stopped showing up at the Polish American club. We stopped showing up, and we all went to you, the really smart people. We had a new kind of coalition we were putting together. College-educated women and college men and boom, boom, boom and so on.
One could conclude from this that Biden doesn't see people of Polish descent as being among the 'really smart people'. I guess he probably never heard of Frederick Chopin, Marie Curie, Nicolaus Copernicus, Stanislaus Ulam, or the Polish cryptologists who made the first breakthroughs in deciphering the Enigma code. And Biden's remark is another example at the way he jumps at the categorization of people...furthermore, he wants to ensure that people stay within expected roles of the categories into which he assigns them. ("If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't Black.") And this kind of categorization-obsession is characteristic of today's entire Democratic Party.

Lesson from History?

Back in 2011, I quoted AJP Taylor on the combination of the ethnic divisions and excessive centralization in the Austro-Hungarian Empire:
The Austrian state suffered from its strength: it had never had its range of activity cut down during a successful period of laissez-faire, and therefore the openings for a national conflict were far greater. There were no private schools or hospitals, no independent universities; and the state, in its infinite paternalism, performed a variety of services from veterinary surgery to the inspecting of buildings. The appointment of every school teacher, of every railway porter, of every hospital doctor, of every tax-collector, was a signal for national struggle. Besides, private industry looked to the state for aid from tariffs and subsidies; these, in every country, produce 'log-rolling,' and nationalism offered an added lever with which to shift the logs. German industries demanded state aid to preserve their privileged position; Czech industries demanded state aid to redress the inequalities of the past. The first generation of national rivals had been the products of universities and fought for appointment at the highest professional level: their disputes concerned only a few hundred state jobs. The generation which followed them was the result of universal elementary education and fought for the trivial state employment which existed in every village; hence the more popular national conflicts at the turn of the century.
The combination of the Dems' categorization and their drive for government control would likely push the United States in the same direction-and already has, to some extent-although with even more fragmentation and resulting harm than with the case in Austria-Hungary.

More Identity Politics, More History

Joe Biden, white guy, also said this about white guys:

All white guys are just basically, they don't give a damn about women.

Read the whole thing for commentary on how this relates to the way that "Progressive" Democrats put people in demographic buckets, plus some analysis of U.S. election history.

Which demographic bucket do you think the Democrats put you in?

Do you think they think you are as unintelligent as, say, Polish Americans?

I do think some of this is spilling into why black men are at least not as hostile to Trump/GOP as they were say 20 years ago.

I agree - the Dem party, not that long ago, was strongest in the Unionized Labor movement of the northern cities, the old ethnic white working class of the upper midwest.

And Biden is saying how Dems abandoned them and went instead to the Education Establishment as it exists on the two coast. That plus catering to Black and Hispanic voters is what their party is all about now.

and any white voters who fancy themselves as uppwardly mobile educated Professionals of course want to be with the Big Smart University Intellectuals, and not with those stupid dirty ethnic day laborers.

But a couple of things about the Labor Movement: Private industry unionization is at about 8% of the workforce. Most union members are public employees - teachers mostly, and public safety personnel like cops.

The dems don't care about sucking up to that tiny little 8% of the private sector workforce anymore. The head of the afl-cio extracts dues from those people and makes huge donations to the dems. But their actual votes aren't as important as that shiny new demographic, the college graduate.

I also think it's very personal to him. He sees himself as a man who is both a tough guy and an intellectual, and he resents having to, for all those years, stoop down to the level of those blue collar union guys.

He was both one of them, and not one of them, and by golly he doesn't have to pretend anymore. He doesn't need them. He's not one of them.

The fact that the DNC knows a lot of these guys are going to vote for him anyway is just icing on the cake as far as they're concerned. But yeah, it's all about the intersectionals now.

I think they jumped the gun on this, and are going to get stomped by those very same white guys. And gals... the people they think they don't need anymore.

US President Roosevelt wasn't too keen on helping the beleagured Jews of Eastern Europe, he's also on the list.
However two notable Poles were persecuted by the Nazi regime, one survived to become the aforementioned world leader Pope John Paul II. the other, Maximillian Kolbe, a Catholic priest imprisoned at Auschwitz, gave up his life in favor of a Jewish prisoner who bemoaned the fact of his family if he was killed. So Kolbe, knowing he had no children or wife that would suffer, offered to stand in that prisoner's stead. And the guards complied.
Kolbe was canonized by the RCC.

Along with the German-run death camps that were all in Poland, the Baltics, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus are essentially a vast mass grave. While attitudes have certainly changed, sadly a lot of anti-semitic attitudes that pre-date the war by hundreds of years still exist and are still passed on to younger generations, despite the fact that the Jews of Eastern Europe have been all but wiped out.

That said, I try to take people one at a time and given the current politics, I am grateful to have Eastern Europe on our side as real allies.

Two men, an American and a Russian, arguing about which is better, the U.S. or the Soviet Union.

The American says "By gosh, we have Free Speech in America! Why, I can march to the White House, go into the Oval Office, pound my fist on President Reagan's desk and tell him 'Sir, I do not like the way you are running the country!"

The Russian says, "In the Soviet Union it is the same, I can march to the Kremlin, into Comrade Gorbachev's office, pound my fist on his desk and say "Sir, I do not like the way President Reagan is running his country!"

It has to be frustrating as hell given what he goes through every damn day with the media while the same media protects and shields Biden from his obvious issues and lies. But Biden is his own worst enemy, the more he talks the more damage he does to himself.

Europe is basically a history of Jew hate. I think it was Longshanks that kicked the Jews out of Europe. And heck part of the thing about why the Inquisition in Spain happened and went on so long is because the Jews were still living there and you had converts to Christianity either being secret Jews or accused of being secret Jews and only much further into the Inquisition did they start following what the rest of Europe had done earlier in kicking out the Jews.

No European country's hands are clean.

It's pretty good. Feels big but unfinished, like an indy game that hit it big and they had to scramble to get it ready to ship. No showstoppers, some interface annoyances, and some things that look like they had big plans for it but never got to wring out the balance. Like the healing items - they have stacks of different little items that buff different skills, but you'd drive yourself mad trying to remember when to use what. The good news is that I've spammed myself with, say, mental buffs to get my lockpick skill up enough to beat a lock, and failed, and it takes less time to wait for poisoning to wear off than it would to dig through my inventory and find the immunity buff. So it's complicated, but it doesn't matter in the least anyway.

I had the distinct privilege of visiting Hungary in the early 90's shortly after the Wall came down as part of an official military medical (goodwill) conference. In general (while hoping to avoid overly broad conclusions) the people seemed vibrant and strong-willed. I think along with Poland, Hungary was a glimmer of light from behind the Iron Curtain.

There was a family of Hungarian Christians who settled in my hometown after escaping from Hungary in '56. Good people who became close friends with my parents. I used to work part-time picking eating peaches in their orchard.

202 ""Progressive" Democrats put people in demographic buckets"

aka Bigotry. But Dems plan to drive their narrative via talking points and repetition -- as with "blacks must vote Dem, and hate cops, and adore drug dealer criminals made saints.

Trayvon, GentleGiant Brown of Ferguson, Freddie in Baltimore set the trend .. a dozen fabricated martyrs, always drug dealing thugs ... good grief, that is not what holds black communities together. Drugs and praise of "the gangster life" is their main problem.

Mayor Berry got reelected after serving six months for drugs, and he was still mayor during his trial. But DC is not Rust Belt America, where blacks work with the rest of us, and lost jobs to China with us as well.

The other half of that is "Trump voters are deplorable, irredeemable, racist, homophobe ..." ... a line repeated by Hillary several times, obviously scripted. Now continued with the "Trump called the KKK Good People" lie, and "Trump Voters are ALL white supremacists" smears and threats. False but driven like a jackhammer by the MFM.

This is cult like behavior ... "all outsiders are evil (and stupid). Here is our strict dogma, you must be devoted to every point, or you are a sinner (sinning against the leftist dogma)." imo they misjudge the gullibility of the black "neighborhood" in thinking they can control it with their narrative (as Joe demands). They have failed for too long, current lies and violence too outrageous? (I hope, and God Bless Poland, a last stand for liberty in Europe?)

Posted by: illiniwek at October 17, 2020 12:16 PM (Cus5s)

203 You are kind of hoping that Trump goes against his
nature. It might be a good strategy but that's not how he operates for
good or ill. He is a bull in the china shop and when he thinks he sees
the opportunity to attack he will move in even if others think the
proper strategy is to let him keep talking.

I agree for the most part but I think he let his anger get a bit out
of control during the first debate. Understandable since he has known
all this stuff was coming out about Biden and he knows he was part of
the coup attempt but he kind of bailed Biden out and made him
sympathetic to some.

It has to be frustrating as hell given what he goes through every
damn day with the media while the same media protects and shields Biden
from his obvious issues and lies. But Biden is his own worst enemy, the
more he talks the more damage he does to himself.

I hope he dials it down a notch in the next debate.

257 I think the debate helped Trump. It was the start of really driving home how unfair the media has been to him, and amped up turnout. Which is what is winning the election for him right now.

It also knocked Biden off his game. They had "heart warming moments" preplanned that were going to be shown by every news outlet to show what a unifier Biden would be.

That strategy has been burned to the ground.

So she recorded the solo piano at home and sent it to the conductor so he could study and become familiar with her interpretation, and then they recorded the whole thing in like two-three days.

a synopsis of what I posted on that earlier this week - the charges against him don't matter, the significance is what this means for the impending Rittenhouse trial.

This charge establishes, as a legal fact, that this man was firing a pistol into the air as Rittenhouse attempted to flee, with his back to him. (the audio track on the cell phone footage confirms this) What this means is that when Rittenhouse attempted to flee, he heard gunfire directly behind him, and when he turned he saw a man charging him. It was reasonable for him to believe that his life was in danger and that he had been shot at first (he couldn't see where the gun had been aimed), and thus it was reasonable for him to pull the trigger at his attacker.

This is all that is needed for a valid self defense claim. Self defense is easily established for the 2nd two shootings because of the video evidence, but the circumstances of the first shooting were obscure. This clears things up.

I worked at a refinery in Linden, NJ years ago which had a huge Polish population. The majority of the workers were Polish Americans and every Thursday they would bring in homemade kielbasa, pierogis, sauerkraut, potato rolls, and some little jam-filled bow tie cookies that I can't remember the name. It's a far cry from Mrs. T's and I sorely miss those days.

320 "When Trump is re elected he needs to defund the NPR."
This is actually a thornier problem than one would expect. NPR receives only a small percentage of their budget directly from federal appropriations. They've been shilling this fact for over thirty years, pointing to their listener and corporate donations. "We're a very minor expense for the taxpayers," they insist.
The con? The majority of their budget consists in charging their network affiliates for their programming. These affiliates are mostly university affiliated, and thus are supported by taxes. Add to that the grants from the so-called Non-govermental Organizations, few of which would exist without taxpayer support.

Defunding them would be a lengthy process in many jurisdictions.

So there is a pretty decent chance that even Trafalgar and the campaign polls are underestimating Trump strength.

Yeah. There's no hard number on it. Look at it from a merchant's point of view: at some point the labor cost of counting and handling the coins would exceed the profit from the sale.

It's becoming hard to find banks that will accept large amounts of coin from those not account holders. Even rolled.

Those Coinstar machines are becoming popular for a reason, I guess.

Mossberg 590a - i bought a used on in March for $289. Little or no wear, no box. Maybe shot four or five times and traded. There were two of these at the gun show, same condition as mine. $775 & $800.

Ruger LCP II - Used to gobs of these little phuckers because they are a pain in the hand to shoot. Not. One. Single. LCP II. At. The. Show.

I suppose the new gun purchasers wanted a concealed carry pocket gun which is why there ain't any .380 to be found anywhere anymore.

Hunter Biden has at least $300 million sitting in a bank account somewhere he will never lose access to or be questioned about. He did, after all, "manage" a $1.5 billion fund for the ChiComs for several years.

He may accidently overdose, but there is no reason why he would ever intentionally kill himself.

432 Trump may have lost 6 points post-debate according to Ras, but I think that had less to do with his aggressive behavior --it was obvious Wallace was after him and Biden was lying through his dentures--and more to do with the bullshit " he only paid $750 in taxes" story that came out around the same time.

That kind of thing--even if it's a lie--resonates with people.

Let's face it: Jack was no day at the beach himself. He was a fuck-up of the first water. Bay of Pigs, Cuban missile crisis (which he generated by impressing Khruschev in Vienna as a feckless boy), allowing Federal government workers to unionize, nailing Mafia chicks, etc.

And as for body count, Ted killed Mary Jo, but Jack killed a number of members of his crew by snoozing while supposed to be patrolling. The only instance in naval history where a PT boat was run down by a warship, which is rather like a caterpillar running down a wasp. The Navy was going to court-martial JFK for dereliction of duty, but Joe Sr. managed to head that off.

If you are supposedly risking a nuclear war to keep missiles out of Cuba, then get rid of Castro while you're at it. High risk demands a high reward.

Instead JFK handed over Cuba to the Soviets as a base of military, terror, and propaganda operations ---with its "independence" guaranteed by the US!

504 And we are endlessly told what a hero JFK was in the Cuban Missile Crisis, when, as you point out, his weakness invited it --- and his weakness failed to deal with it.

What a drug-addled idiot.

538 Anna Puma - thanks for the Japanese sub info ..... it's quite scandalous how lax I have become in following such things.

But related - a few years ago I happened to meet one of the Japanese naval officers who was then assigned to Annapolis (as I recall he said there was usually one engineering officer, and one other officer like him, so assigned at any time). A very, very prestigious gig in the Japanese naval service, understandably.

He had been the executive officer on a Japanese sub. Sadly I didn't insist on getting his business card, just curious how he did after that, though fairly confident when he returned to Japan he'd get his own sub command or other senior spot.

And I've happened to see JMSDF subs in dry-dock at the Mistubishi yard in Kobe several times while visiting there (from afar, not at the yard myself).

544 Think the Chi-Nah/Nam scrap was '78, border clash (Chinese instruction to Hanoi over britches getting too big - see Cambodia, and warring positions of the two countries there). Second great V'mese emigration to the US (boat people) was occasioned by this - one can (probably still) sort of tell which wave a given area's Vietnamese-American population was part of by how much Chinese signage is seen.

And Vietnamese wariness/resentment of Chi-Nah is kind of a defining aspect of their national identity, after eons of being a small province in the empire, more or less.

It's even seen in the satisfaction/pride in the only romanized alphabet of a tonal Asian language (bequeathed by the colonialist French, a Portuguese Jesuit, I think, did the actual work).

And while not a positive experience, the Vietnamese experience under Japanese occupation was much less brutal or negative than seen elsewhere - for some of the time for part of the country, it was sort of a hybrid thing anyway. Vichy France still technically ran many things, the colonial govt. co-existed with the Japanese.

Best Buy and other mass retailers are no way to critically assess TVs anyway. The display sets are never set up properly or consistently. You're better off checking reviews and discussions on enthusiast sites such as AVS Forums and Rtings.com and then ordering online.

There was a woman who used to work with Alex Jones, who got arrested days before releasing a report claiming CIA psyops mechanisms/technology (like twitter bots, not woo woo) were being used to push a color revolution here of the sort they've done elsewhere. It might be related to that.

581 rhomboid, if I'm not mistaken the Japanese occupation of Indochina was characterized as more of a protectorate than an annexation. Japan was already at war with China and they wanted to cut off resupply to China from Haiphong. In 1940 they occupied northern Indochina, then the southern part in 1941. They finally took over in a coup in March 1945 and installed puppet governments in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, concerned that as France was liberated the French Indochina administration would support the Allies. Those boundaries established the nations that exist today.

589 Gun talk? Ooh, I gotta share.

Here in Canada, a possession and acquisition license (PAL) is required to possess and acquire some types of guns and a restricted PAL for others.

I got both on Thursday and tomorrow is shopping day. So far, I'm only interested in a .22lr as it's the perfect tool to put bullet holes in paper targets, which is all I want to do.

I don't expect any burning times coming up soon but if I'm wrong, a .22 is better than nothing so I'll be buying as much ammo as I can carry. And ammo will be cheaper and more available tomorrow than next week/month/year.

Oh yeah, since ammo is kinda useless without a gun, I'll also be picking up a Tikka T1X.

Reverse Polish Notation (RPN). You list the values and then the operator: a simple example is (2 2 +) = 4.

It seems awkward, but it is really great when doing complex operations on a handheld calculator. The RPN nerds know of what I speak.
